Roanoke Retreat is located on Roanoke Island, which is roughly a 10 to 15-minute drive to the nearest beach in Nags Head. There are many beach accesses, all with free public parking.

Located 2 miles from the heart of Manteo, you are less than a 5-minute drive away from some of the Outer Banks most popular attractions to include the Dare County Airport, North Carolina Aquarium, Elizabethan Gardens, The Lost Colony, and Roanoke Island Festival Park.

There is a separate main house on the property as well. The guesthouse has its own private parking and entrance.

We are located on the beautiful Historical Roanoke Island. Sitting 5 minutes from downtown Manteo shops and restaurants. Only 10 minutes drive to The NC Aquarium, Elizabethan Garden and The Lost Colony. 10 minutes to Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head and 20-25 minutes drive to Pea Island. We are even closer to all that Roanoke Island has to offer. Our cottage is an airy and calming space, clean and well maintained.

La Vida Isla is a quiet, shady retreat from the beach. This is a place to unwind and relax. We are in a safe neighborhood on Roanoke Island. The cottage is an airy and calming space. We take great strides to make sure it is super clean and well maintained. Our goal is to provide a space for complete relaxation. The cottage and outdoor spaces are very private. There is a patio area with outdoor seating as well as a screened porch. Listen to the wind chimes and birds. Enjoy the flowers.

The space
La Vida Isla is a relaxing getaway located in a quiet, safe neighborhood on Roanoke Island. It is clean, uncluttered and just a little bit beachy. Great for couples. It is also ideal for business travelers or anyone needing a quiet spot to work remotely. The private enclosed yard is perfect for those travelling with their furry companions.

Guests have access to the entire cottage including the screened porch, patio, gardening shed with bikes, laundry, beach and barbecue gear as well as enclosed yard.

Other things to note
We are on Roanoke Island and not within walking distance to the beach. It takes about 10-15 minutes to drive to the nearest beach in Nags Head.

Due to county regulations, we are not allowed to have a standard range in the kitchen. However, there is a counter top convection oven, a Cuisinart single burner, an electric griddle pan, an instant pot, slow cooker, microwave & outdoor charcoal grill.

The parking is at the end of a long driveway, 200 feet. Turnaround space is tight so you will have to back out.

Continental breakfast items are provided for your first morning. Included is coffee, tea, juice, fresh fruit, pastry or bread, cereal or granola, eggs, yogurt. The items vary depending on the season and availability.

I am not able to accommodate early check in or late check out requests. If you arrive before 4pm, I will not be ready for you and the gate will be locked. Consider lunch and shopping on the Manteo waterfront. If I am ready before 4pm I will let you know. You are welcome to drop your luggage off before check in time.

There are no security or hidden cameras of any kind anywhere on our property.

You may bring up to two dogs. Only well behaved, house trained dogs please. No diggers or destructive dogs accepted.

We have an elderly, sweet German Shorthaired Pointer, Sue. You may see a couple of other dogs in our back yard. Dennis occasionally takes care of other dogs. He takes them to the dog park for exercise and so they are only out in our yard for bathroom breaks. Our yard and the cottage yard are separated by a fence. We take great care to make sure they do not bother our guests. Any dog you may see in our yard will be a friendly one so feel free to say hi.

This peaceful airy guest house (located on a 3 acre property) overlooking peaceful canal front grounds is a true hummingbird haven. Grab a book, unwind and spend the day swinging in the hammock, enjoying lunch in the garden, or challenging one another to a game of corn hole. Take a 2-minute stroll to Carolina BBQ Company or a quick 7-minute bike ride (1.5 miles) utilizing the 2 adult beach cruisers we provide to historic downtown Manteo and attractions. Ocean Access is a quick 8-min drive.

The space
Inside features 400 sq ft of privacy, including a queen bed, sofa, private bathroom with stand-up shower, full-size kitchen, washer /dryer and Smart TV. It’s the perfect space for couples or , travelers looking to relax in nature without the hustle bustle sound of the Outer Banks crowds.

In the kitchen, you’ll find a full-size refrigerator with freezer, oven/stove, toaster and microwave, along with plenty of plates, bowls, glasses, silverware, pots, pans, cookware and coffee cups available for your use. You'll also discover a fully stocked morning beverage bar, Keurig and drip Coffee Maker to kick your mornings off to a great start.
The Smart TV is ready for you to watch basic cable or Netflix, Hulu, Amazon through your own accounts.

Sheets, towels, and basic essentials (toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, shampoo, conditioner, soap, trash bags etc.) are provided.
You'll also have access to 2 beach chairs and 2 adult beach bikes to enjoy at your leisure. This private guest studio comes fully equipped with all the outdoor amenities to satisfy your Manteo desires. .
