We’re keeping it simple and peaceful at our little cottage in the heart of Rodanthe in North Carolina’s outer banks. Come enjoy the salt water while relaxing, surfing, kiteboarding, lounging or bike riding thru the tri-villages. 500 yards from the beach access at the end of the road you’ll take the deep breath of salt air that you’ve been waiting for.
Located just behind the main house where we reside part-time, the guest house’s entrance is just up the accessible ramp from your driveway.

Located in a quiet cul-de-sac just south of Rodanthe pier, this newly renovated backyard studio has everything you need for a relaxing getaway.
Nearby beach access.
Lounge in the hammock chairs, ride bikes through the villages, or sink into the brand new memory foam mattress - however you like to unwind, we have it covered!
The space
The bungalow is ideal for one or two people. Inside you'll find a cozy living room with a couch and TV, a luxurious king bed, and a kitchenette stocked with essentials [coffee and coffee maker, microwave, toaster, single-burner hot plate, blender, fridge/freezer, etc.] The bathroom has a shower/tub and essential personal care items as well as towels and washcloths. There is fast Spectrum WiFi.
You will have two outdoor living spaces. On the ground level there is a patio with a grill, hammock chairs, and outdoor shower with hot water. The second story balcony has two chairs and a table. We provide beach chairs, umbrella, beach towels, and two cruiser bikes!

Guest access
The bungalow is completely separate from the main house, separated by about twenty yards. It has its own driveway, and is fenced off from the main yard. There is adjacent street parking.
Other things to note
This is an intimate space in a quiet neighborhood. Perfect for a solo or couple’s retreat. We poured ourselves into renovating our backyard shed into a beautiful studio so that we can share this amazing island with our guests. Fun fact: in its original form as a shed, the Bungalow served as the bar for our backyard wedding!

Amazing Hatteras Island retreat cottage a few short steps to BOTH the ocean and the sound! Walk across the street to the ocean sunrises, or walk down our road to the beautiful sound sunsets! You won't get any closer to both bodies of water anywhere on the island.
The space
The private guest house features:
- 1 King bed in bedroom and Twin daybed with twin trundle sleeping 4 total. Includes all linens and towels (1 towel and 1 washcloth per guest)
- Full kitchen with coffee pot, microwave, including all utensils and cookware needed for a comfortable stay. (Please bring your own preferred spices)
- Basic cable
- Wifi (Spectrum, fastest available on the island)
- TV with Roku including Netflix, HBOGO and much more
- Full private bathroom
- Beach chairs and umbrellas
- Pool with large deck and lounge chairs (Pool season starts Memorial Day and goes to Labor Day, we do try to open earlier and close later however..this is also dependent on the climate in early spring and late fall and could start earlier and end later.)
Note: We are an older beachbox home built in 1970. We have weathered many storms and tides that come with island life. Therefore the home does have a few quirks. The floors have some uneven spots and we like to note there is only 1 large bay window in the guest house. Lastly, we do live next door, so you will see our kids toys, some construction materials as my husband does handyman maintenance, our chickens, dogs, cat and some things we are working on outside our property while here. We do not pretend to be a luxury rental, we are a quirky little island family with a well lived in home. We will not encroach on the rentals space at anytime but like guests to know that we do live next door and share the pool. We try to be as open and transparent as possible to ensure guests get the best experience they are searching for and book the perfect rental home for their needs.

Guest access
Guests have access to our pool (shared by our other guests as well as us) and beach chairs/umbrellas.
Chairs and umbrellas free to use. Please let us know if anything breaks during your stay so that we can replace them for future guests.
Surf lessons are upon request with prior notice and are subject to weather and wave report permitting. $100 per person for 3 hour lesson and free board rental for your stay.
Cottage is FULLY HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE!

Like Nicholas Sparks?? The Serendipity house from the book/movie "Nights in Rodanthe" is directly across the street! You can lounge on the beach and feel swept away by the books romantic scenery.

This spacious (600 sq ft) private cottage is located behind our long-term rental property. It has its own parking area and entrance.
It has one bedroom with a king size bed, 2 nightstands, dresser and a small closet. The open concept living area includes a cozy lounge area with a sectional couch, smart TV (logged-in to our guest Netflix account) a dining table that seats 4, and a beautiful kitchen stocked with everything you need to prepare a meal. There's also a full bathroom with a shower/tub. All linens and bath towels are provided. Central AC gives maximum comfort during hot summer days.
