It is a perfect vacation rental to visit Roanoke Island and the beaches of the Outer Banks. This unique restored cottage is located at the end of a private road in a maritime forest. Cruise along the bike path (bikes furnished by owner) that runs along the corridor of Roanoke Island. Visitors can enjoy the Manteo waterfront, Island Farm, NC Aquarium, The Lost Colony, and The Elizabethan Gardens. Roanoke Island, centrally located, is on the sound west of the barrier islands of the Outer Banks. Beautiful beaches and the new aquarium on the pier are located within a 10 minute car ride to Nags Head. Explore the northern beaches to see wild horses roaming, head south to the island of Ocracoke by ferry or take trips to state park, private preserves, or national wildlife refuge.

The first floor has wood floors in the living room, dining area, fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel range, full sized refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher, and a lovely master bedroom with queen bed. A bathroom with washer and dryer is located next to the master bedroom. The second floor has two bedrooms, one queen and one with twin beds attached by a full bath. Linens are included. Two very large decks overlooking a view that reminds you of the mountains. The home accommodates six people.

They had chairs for us to use as well down and the house came with plenty of toilets items, cookware, etc. and the decor gave it that homey and beach feel. We call her the recycle house because we took an old storage shed which once sat on cinder blocks and located next to the main home and converted into this vacation home. Many of the materials were left over remnants from our construction jobs.

- "My adult children and their significant others came out to NC for a visit and we took a short, two day trip to the outer banks. This house fulfilled all of our expectations. It is clean, quaint, quiet and well appointed. The neighborhood is gorgeous and it is a short walk to the waterfront downtown of Manteo. The hosts couldn't have been nicer. We received a wonderful welcome present on our arrival and the hosts let us know they were there if we had any issues (which we did not). Check in was taken care of before we got there and check out was a breeze as well. We loved the house and will be back. I think we might have found evidence of the lost colony of Roanoke Island in the backyard. "

Located in the forested dunes of Roanoke Island, Crews Cottage is attached to the main house of owners through a breezeway and screened porch. No steps! (See Accessibility section.) Approximately 1000 square feet in total size, it features a large private bedroom (queen bed) with bathroom/shower. The great room has a pullout sofa bed (full) and love seat bed (twin). Kitchenette features full-sized refrigerator, convection microwave oven, toaster, and coffee maker. Sorry, no pets.

The space
This space offers a peaceful, quiet setting on beautiful Roanoke Island. Accessed by a private drive and parking area, the entranceway leads to a covered porch and front door with a coded lock (and NO steps). Situated on a hill and attached to the main house by a screened porch, the setting offers charming spaces for quiet reflection in between outings to explore the Outer Banks. Ocean access is about a 15 minute drive across the Roanoke Sound. See “The Neighborhood” and “Getting Around” for more information.

Guest access
As a guest you have exclusive access to the entire cottage. Through the laundry room door lies an pleasant screened porch and breezeway to the main house with tables and seating that is regularly used by the owners. You are welcome to also share this space. A hose is available for use to wash off sandy feet.

Because of the new, more stringent cleaning guidelines related to COVID-19, we are making the difficult decision to NO LONGER ALLOW PETS.

Entrance to the bathroom is within the master bedroom.

No heavy cooking is allowed in Crews Cottage as there is no exhaust, stovetop or oven. A convection microwave oven, toaster, coffee maker and coffee grinder are provided along with dishes, utensils and other amenities, stored in the cabinets and drawers. If you have additional needs, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate.

Please NOTE: We do not have cable or local TV reception. We do provide a TV with a DVD/VCR Player. You are also welcome to connect your devices and stream. There are also multiple Redbox locations in town - CVS, Food A Rama grocery store and the Speed Way.

Sheets, towels, beach towels, and basic essentials (trash bags, laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, etc.) are provided.
We also provide regular and decaf coffee beans, a selection of teas, and condiments.

If something is broken or missing, please notify host so it can be repaired or replaced.

The space
This adorable cottage is nestled among trees on the back of our property with complete privacy. It has an open bedroom with a queen bed along with a futon for relaxing or for an extra person. It has a full-functioning kitchenette with Keurig coffee maker we provide enough K-cups to get you started, miniature, retro stove, toaster, and full size refrigerator. There is a bar for two and a small table for three. Enjoy the outdoor deck with wrap around seating or enjoy lunch or dinner at the outdoor picnic table.
There is a grill available for you to use.
We provide linens for the bed and futon along with bath towels.
We have enough paper products available to get you started.
The beach towels and sunscreen are for you to enjoy on your trips to the beach.

Guests have full access to the entire tiny house space and deck including the picnic table area.

We are located. couple blocks from the downtown Manteo waterfront where there are shops, restaurants, the marina and brewery. There are concerts and festivals that go on in the downtown area. This special place is in walking distance to all . Very small quaint town .

The space
The cottage is an old cc camp 800 sq foot cottage from the war that’s been renovated. We supply the first round of toilet paper, paper towels, etc. for your convenience but after that it’s on you.

There’s a key box on the front door of the cottage . Ar check in I will give you the code .

The McDowell Cottage is located in the heart of Downtown Manteo. A 1 min walk to the Waterfront, shops, restaurants & all the attractions Manteo has to offer. This classic 1940s home features 2 bedrooms (1 queen & 1 full) 1 bath & original plank floors in the main living area. It offers a wonderful get-away for relaxing or for being on the go. Kitchen is equipped for cooking and there's lots of outside space to sun, eat & enjoy the wonderful weather that OBX offers. 10 min drive to the Beaches.

Due to its design and antiques the home is not suitable for children under 12. Historic cottage located on Mother Vineyard Road with private access to the Roanoke Sound across the street. The 1930's cottage was built by Robert Bruce Lennon (Kerry's Great Grandfather). Enjoy coffee on the cozy porch & admire the huge, old magnolia tree. Launch your paddle-board or kayak into the shallow sound. Bike downtown and to area attractions. Fully stocked, modern kitchen. Watch the sunset from the dock!

The space
New, open kitchen. Bedroom with vintage bathroom on first floor. Two bedrooms upstairs share new bathroom. Two new central heat and air systems to keep you comfortable year round. Hi-speed internet if you want to stay connected and cable TV with Chromecast and soundbar for video and music streaming.

Across the neighborhood street Lennon Cottage Guests have use of the private deck and dock with access to Roanoke Sound. Guests can pass through the double gate, walk around the old outbuilding (that houses Adirondack chairs for your use) to the deck overlooking the sound. Steps from the deck lead down to the seawall and dock. The water is shallow between 2 to 3 feet deep so no diving is permitted. There is a lower platform off the dock to launch kayaks or paddle boards.

The cottage has high speed internet rated at 100Mbs. It tests at 120Mbs and according to Spectrum, the provider, it can handle 5-10 devices. And you can connect your devices to the LED flat screen TV in the living room with the Chromecast.

The space
Recently updated, the Skyco Lodge (3 bedroom 3 bathroom and limited to 6 people) is cradled in a natural setting providing a unique space for family and friends to reconnect. The home is a refuge from the developed Outer Banks. From the porch swing on the wrap around screened porch one is immersed in nature. In today’s Outer Banks, this setting and privacy is rare, making a stay here a unique experience – much more than a place to sleep. The open floor plan is fun, inviting and incredibly comfortable, while providing serene views of the surrounding landscape in a treehouse type setting.

The covered carport presents a protected arrival and a place to store bikes or beach gear or rinse off after a day at the beach.

Entering the cottage on the first floor, the great room, dining area, kitchen, and screen porch all flow into one space. The space encourages hanging out, but if you want to zone out there is a 60” smart TV and high-speed internet covers the entire property. If you have to ‘work’, there is a dedicated workplace on the first floor. The balance of the first floor consists of Bedroom 1 (queen bed) with en-suite bath, an additional full bath accessed from the common area, and a laundry room.

On the second floor, there are two bedrooms and a shared bath. Bedroom 2 (queen bed) is a comfortable space with natural light. Bedroom 3 has a sofa, smart TV and built-in adult as well as a kid friendly bunk bed (2 full beds).

There are old surfboards adorning the walls. They are old, tired and do not like to be touched or disturbed. Please be respectful of these guys.

While the Lodge is a place to escape, we’ve included all of the amenities for your comfort and convenience. Newly remodeled with thoughtful, curated furnishings, the interior presents a peaceful coastal ethos. The kitchen is stocked with cookware and all the other items needed for preparing your meals. Wake up with coffee from a single serve coffee pot, French press, or traditional coffee pot. Later, mix your favorite cocktail from the historic roll top desk that has graduated into the bar, or bust out the blender for a fruity frozen cocktail. Knowing how important sleep is, the comfortable mattresses and bedding are new purchased for the 2023 season. Again, your sleep will not be interrupted from those cruisin' the beach.

The Skyco Lodge is an ideal getaway surrounded by natural beauty and the perfect place to experience all that the Outer Banks has to offer.

Guest access
The whole place is yours. Accessed down a winding private drive, the Lodge is a stand-alone, single-family cottage situated on a large wooded lot overlooking a salt marsh pond. While the privacy and seclusion of the property ensure that your laughter and fellowship will only be heard by the wildlife, we do ask that you please be respectful to others in the vicinity of the property. We have two requests 1. Treat our property with respect and care, 2. Most importantly, you relax, unwind and enjoy your stay.

Other things to note
1. There is a smart lock on the door accessing the home from the screen porch. Prior to arrival, you will be provided a unique code.

2. Check out is 10 AM. There are instructions provided in the home. We are cognizant that you are on vacation and the requirements are minimal.

3. Linens, Bedding and Towels: All mattresses and bedding is new for the 2023 season. Mattresses, and pillows all have non-evasive protectors. Please do not remove them. We provide duvets and duvet covers, and linens for all our beds. In addition, we provide bath and beach towels.

4. Toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies and inherited items such as spices are supplied to get you started.

5. The Skyco Lodge does require climbing steps. As is true of most homes in the area, the cottage sites on pilings.

6. The WIFI is suitable for remote work, zoom calls, and streaming. The password is conveniently listed on cards in the house.

7. There is so much to tell you about the area. Great restaurants and experiences abound. We have a book with local recommendations for all of our favorite eateries and ideas for places for you to explore. We're available if you have any questions about the area or unique requests.

8. Please limit gatherings to a few. No parties or events. No additional overnight guests are allowed.

9. Interim cleanings during your stay are available for a fee. Stays longer than two weeks may require additional cleanings during your stay.

10. Children are welcome. However, the house is not child proofed. Please bring any items you need to ensure a safe stay. The house is adjacent to water so please keep that in mind when you book.

11. Hurricanes and adverse weather is a possibility when visiting the coast. Please understand this when you book your vacation rental. We do not provide refunds due to weather evacuations and encourage travel insurance.

12. The surfboards are meant for decoration and are not meant for use.
