The cottage is an older home and does not have central heat/AC. We have multiple AC units and for heat there's electric baseboard heaters, a couple wall units, and cool to the touch space heaters to use wherever you'd like. All units are brand new.

If you choose to use the woodstove during your stay please be advised while it is in use the entire stove gets extremely hot. We are NOT responsible for any injury to any guest while using the woodstove. If you're unfamiliar with use but would like to use it we are more than happy to get you started if/when available.

There are several sleeping areas- A master bedroom with a queen sized Tempurpedic mattress, second bedroom has 2 twin beds, downstairs living area has a couch that converts into a queen bed.

Home is dog friendly, for an extra fee of $50 per dog up to two dogs. Extra pets on approval and for an extra fee to be considered. Pet fee covers cost of extra cleaning and does not cover any damages by your pet. When dog is not in the cottage or in the fenced yard please keep on a leash. We do ask that pets are never left unattended in the house or yard unless safely crated. This is for the safety of both your pet and the property.

Please be aware this is a pet friendly rental. While we do a thorough cleaning after each guest, we cannot guarantee the removal of every single hair from the entire property, so if you have any pet allergies, please keep this in mind.

We welcome you to our charming cottage in the heart of the woods. While we take every measure to ensure a bug-free environment, it's important to note that in a natural setting like this, you might occasionally come across small insects like spiders, ants, or ladybugs. We conduct regular pest maintenance with pet and kid safe products to keep the cottage comfortable and bug-free as possible. We recommend keeping doors and windows shut, so it will be more difficult for them to get inside. We are unable to offer any guarantee against or refunds for an occasional bug in the house #countrylife

We live on the property but we stay very busy. We may see you in passing and we're definitely here if you need anything but we will do our best to always respect your privacy and keep to ourselves :)

As noted we live on the property and also offer a RV Campsite rental. Every property is fully private to the renters own use and each spot has its own parking area.

Our driveway is almost 1/2 mile long 1 way in and 1 way out. Although it hasn't happened just yet please be aware it is possible to meet someone in the driveway.

Located in the trendy Libbie and Grove Avenue area, "The Avenues", this 2 story 900 sq ft guest house is within walking distance of many restaurants, bars ,shops, banks and a wonderful, neighborhood grocer with gourmet prepared foods. Downstairs there is a living area and dining area with floor to ceiling book shelves and windows and a small kitchen with stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. The flooring is old, reclaimed brick. Upstairs is a large bedroom with 2 full size beds, one built in with a new tempurpedic type foam mattress and the other with a pillow top medium firm. Both are new as of Fall 2015. Flooring is laminate. Bathroom has shower only. There is private porch upstairs, small deck downstairs with a 4-5 person Hot Tub. This is a city property surrounded by a tall privacy fence and a forest of bamboo so it is very private. For history buffs, we are only an hour away from Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown to the East. Head West to Charlottesville, home of University of Virginia, many wineries, and Monticello, the beautiful home of Thomas Jefferson. We are located in a great spot for Day Trips!

The house was built in 1910 and it has wonderful landscaped gardens and herb spiral,walk-ways, a firepit and patio,available for guest enjoyment. Great light and very quiet, minimum carbon footprint. Owner knowledgeable about social and arts happenings and actively involved in the community. The space is dedicated to guests, so, hosts personal items are not on the premises. Kitchen is fully appointed. Luxurious accommodations.

Guest access
The space is open concept, and the 2nd floor is one big room with a barn door partition. There is a 2nd floor egress to yard. There is 1st floor access to the alley, for easy loading and unloading, on and offstreet parking close by. Also large patio doors to access the garden amenities, patio and firepit.

Other things to note
Be advised that the second floor is one big room but it is large enough to be two bedrooms. There is a barn door partition to separate the bed from the futon. There is also the option of an inflatable bed that could be placed on the first floor to provide more sleeping privacy if desired. The kitchen is fully appointed, and there is a washer and dryer available. Towels and sheets/pillows/blankets are provided. The space is a detached dwelling, on the same property as the hosts home. Very responsive to any questions or needs, dedicated to hosting airbnb guests. Yes there is a coffee pot! Small appliances, grill, patio, and fire pit.
