The apartment itself is very spacious. We had four adults staying in the space- two used the couch bed. The bathroom has two entrances (one from the hall and one from the bedroom). Accessibility: this VRBO is mostly accessible. For context, one of our party uses a manual wheelchair. One of the entrances to the apartment is accessible coming up some ramped walkways in the courtyard. The accessible entrance door and bedroom door are extra wide. The bathroom doorways were also plenty wide, however the washer/dryer stick out into the bathroom entrance off the bedroom. Those with wider chairs will need to use the other bathroom entrance off the main hall. The bathroom is decently spacious and our party member had no issues maneuvering in the space. The shower is NOT accessible, which we knew ahead of time. It does have a removable shower head. Our party member has the ability to transfer to the floor and was able to use the shower that way. There are no rails or benches in the shower. The toilet has a generous amount of space in front (check listing pictures). There are no rails by the toilet and you would be largely using the sink counter to hold onto. The bed is low to the floor (win!) but there is a bit of a gap between the bed frame side and where the mattress starts-- very workable. You cannot access the other side of the bed. Overall, it worked out super well for us. We hope to be back soon! Thank you!!"

The Lewis House is tucked away behind your host's main house, a little red cottage that has been built entirely out of reclaimed material from RVA's famous local architectural salvage operation, Caravati's. The project was started by the home's original owner, an avid antique collector, and completed in 2024 by your hosts.

Whether you're visiting Richmond for a weekend or looking for a quiet getaway to work on your special project, the Lewis House is ready for you and up to (1) additional guest. Just 7 minutes from the downtown business center, 5 minutes from Cary Town shopping, and 2 minutes from the Forest Hills shops, the Lewis House is close to everything while feeling worlds away from the bustle of the city.

A cobbled footpath leads from your street parking (we're a tiny cul-de-sac, you'll always be able to park out front) to the cottage. The front porch is perfect for sitting with it's rockers and small table for drinks.

Inside, the combination bedroom and sitting room are highlighted by the enormous reclaimed farmhouse windows. A queen memory-foam mattress is set high, with storage draws under the frame, one for each occupant. A standing clothes is rack is available for your shirts and dresses.

Next is the kitchen, a large slop sink is perfect for artists needing to clean their brushes, the fridge includes a freezer for longer stays, and an induction cook eye is available for those meals that can't be prepared in the convection toaster/air fryer or microwave.

Originally built in 1948 by a soldier for his family and Mother-in-law (this unit was for her) this home has been well kept and has an open yard. Westover Hills is an extremely active neighborhood with walkers and bikers passing by. You can walk or bike to Buttermilk Trail and James River Park where you have miles of off road and/or paths. Walk to local eateries and coffee shops. Just over the bridge to Maymont and Carytown. Minutes from downtown, VCU, U of R and the Museums. Lets not forget the Saturday morning South of the James farmers market! Not to be missed! No pets. Well behaved children welcome. No smoking on premises. Limited to 2 adults. There is a keypad for entry that will be programed per stay with no need to schedule a meeting or find a key. Come and go as you like. Very flexible with check in and out as long no there are no same day bookings.

The park pics I included are some of my favorite places in Forest Hill Park and the James River Park System. Forest Hill Park is about a mile away and The James River Park is about a half mile away and runs for miles.

Nothing fancy, but house & room is very clean, safe & quiet. House was built in 1959 & still has a lot of the original items. A quiet, older, neighborhood, like living in the country but close to the city. Bedframe made of Rubber Wood from Malaysia, with a new 10 inch mattress & new high thread count linen. I have pinball machines to enjoy. Great place for business trips or long stays. Family friendly. I have a cat but mainly stays outside. Room has TV with vintage Sega Dreamcast Game Console.

The space
House is basic and this is a basic room. Nothing fancy. Good place to relax. The dreamcast room has a tv with basic channels and a vintage sega dreamcast game console with approximately 30 games for your enjoyment. I also have two other listings on airbnb if you would like to reserve the entire house. House feels like you fell into the past with a vintage look, but clean, safe, and I do have pinball machines, vintage game consoles, and vintage 80's handheld games and your welcome to enjoy them. When you are ready to sleep, the machines will be turned off. The room has a vintage Sega Dreamcast Game Console with about 30 games. There are other vintage game consoles throughout the house; Sega Genesis, Colecovision, Atari 2600 & xbox360. Also handheld games from the 80's. You have full use of the entire house. You can also consume any food and alcohol on premise that is not the property of another guest. I also have a patio with grill if you wish to cookout.

You are allowed to access the entire house. We all respect each others space and to keep noise to a minimal during late night hours.

During your stay
I'm normally available during your stay and will be staying here as well. As long as we respect each other's space then we will get along fine. I enjoy socializing with my guests.
