Bedrooms - a three bedroom house with two masters each with king size bed and each with an adjoining full bathroom. The main level features a third bedroom with a queen bed and again an adjoining private full bathroom. On the lower level there are two private "bungalows" perfect for the young ones. The first has a twin trundle bed and the second has a twin bunk set. Finally there is a brand new queen pull out sofa bed with a surprisingly comfortable memory foam mattress.

Kitchen - Granite counter tops, double oven, microwave, dishwasher. Fully stocked with pots, pans, and all of the dishes and utensils. Keurig coffee maker, coffee grinder, and drip coffee maker.

Dining - The home features a casual table outside of the kitchen that seats five and then the living/dining room area has a 9.5 foot table that seats ten.

Activities - aside from just jumping in the lake of course other forms of entertainment include ping pong, air hockey, and foosball tables! Who knew foosball was so much fun? In addition there are three kayaks available for your use two 12 footers and one at nine feet.

Decks - The home features an upper and lower level deck both of which include partially covered sections perfect for staying comfortable during the peak sun hours. Midway between the home and the dock is another deck space with fantastic views of the lake and the cove. If you want to be outside you will find a place that fits you perfectly.

The Dock - the dock features two sections. On the left a fixed portion that is frequently shaded by the covered lift perfect for reading and drinking it all in. On the right side is a floating dock section with a dock ladder and cleats to secure your boat. Lake depth at the end of each side of the dock was measured in 2017 at over 13 feet (of course this can change daily so remember to be careful). Currently the covered lift is not available for use but the deep water alongside the floating dock will accommodate many sizes and styles of boats. Should the covered lift be a priority for you please contact us and we may be able to accommodate your request.

Our waterfront home has been lovingly updated and maintained and is a perfect choice for your family vacation on Smith Mountain Lake! This waterfront home has beautiful lake and sunset views and is situated on a wide water cove off the main channel. It offers deep water for swimming from the floating and stationary dock, and the shoreline offers sandy walk in water, perfect for young children to swim or to sit on Adirondack chairs while splashing your feet in the waters edge.

The dock also offers enough space to tie up your boat. If you are looking to rent a boat during your stay, our home is conveniently located new the Halesford Bridge area which offers several marina and rental options. In addition, if you wish to trailer your own boat, there is a boat ramp within our community for your convenience to launch and the house offers ample space in the driveway and side street for your trailer in addition to multiple vehicle parking.

The dock area also offers a waterside fire pit with a shaded sitting area for all day relaxation and mini-frig for afternoon beverages. The yard has plenty of trees so there is always small branches and sticks on the ground to gather to help build your campfire, and we also keep a small supply of firewood nearby.

For your entertainment, there are two kayaks and two paddle boards provided for lots of lake fun!! We also have available a variety of adult size life jackets for your use but be sure to pack life jackets for your children as all sizes are not available. There is also an electric air pump to assist you in blowing up your favorite floats.

The house is situated on a corner lot with a large front yard for family yard games, and we have a corn hole game for hours of fun. Also we are conveniently located only minutes by land or water to Bridgewater Plaza and area amenities, for shopping, dining, arcade and mini- golf. Nearby, there are also golf courses, wineries, historical sites and the Blue Ridge Parkway to explore.

The main level of the house offers a newly renovated kitchen and dining area with seating for eight. The main Living Room offers hardwood floors, a cathedral ceiling, fire place and patio doors out to lakeside deck for outside dining and sunset views. The master suite offers a queen bed, private bath with dual sinks and private lakeside deck as well. The main floor also has two additional bedrooms (one with a queen bed and one with a double bed) and second bath. The lower level provides the third bath and fourth sleeping area and family room combination. This offers a queen size and a double size bed, along with family room furnishings and area for games and second fireplace.

There are DVD’s, PlayStation, Game Cube and super Nintendo with many games to play. There is also board games, puzzles for indoor competitive fun or to relax. The family room also has patio doors leading out to a lakeside covered patio with a Weber gas grill, and plenty of seating for relaxation and dining outside.

Finally, One of my favorite things to do on vacation is cook for my family and friends, so with that in mind, the kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, casserole dishes, electric griddle, mixer, crock pot, kitchen aid, toaster, coffee maker and multiple cooking utensils, Nice dish ware, flatware, wine glasses, etc. Everything you need to prepare and serve your favorite meals.

Spike's Place is located in a small cove with a southern exposure and magnificent 'million dollar' view overlooking the main channel, the Hales Ford Bridge, Smith Mountain and the Bridgewater Plaza just below Bouy Marker R 30. This waterfront unit is one of two rentals in a unique triplex (See Kathy's Place, VRBO Listing #218590) situated on over 2 acres in a single family residential subdivision. A convenience store is 5 minutes away; and grocery stores, restaurants, shopping centers, marinas, boat rentals, movies and the State Park are all within 5 to 30 minutes' drive - some by car and some by boat! The small protected cove is ideal for swimming, fishing, floating, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and paddle boating with easy access to the lake and only 2 minutes from the Bridge by water, which has restaurants, miniature golf, game room, gift shops, realtors, etc. and our Chamber of Commerce.

Spike's Place is a ground level lakefront unit totaling 1400 sq. ft. All rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished. It has 1 bedroom with a connecting bath. The bedroom has a queen bed and a twin bed. All beds have pillow top mattress covers. The large great room has a dinette, full kitchen, living room furniture with a 57' HD Flat screen TV with BLURAY DVD Player. Streamng TV Service and Wi-Fi High Speed Internet are included. The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel cookware, a cast iron skillet, 17 cu. ft. refrigerator, microwave, blender, toaster, Mr. Coffee coffeemaker and chef knives. The unit has cleaning supplies, vacuum, ironing board, iron and hairdryer. The tiled patio has wrought iron furniture, a porch swing and gas grill (propane provided). It does not have a dishwasher so you might want to bring paper products.

All bed linens, bath and kitchen towels along with toilet paper, dish soap, trash bags and courtesy soaps are provided year round EXCEPT FOR THE SUMMER WEEKLY RENTALS. SUMMER WEEKLY RENTERS MUST BRING THEIR OWN BATH AND BEACH TOWELS. The other items listed above will be provided.

There are two docks/patio areas with floating docks, diving board and a fish cleaning stand plus electric and water. You will have shared use of 5 kayaks, 2 paddle boards, a paddle boat, canoe, diving board, tubes, noodles, floats and sandy beach with firepit. The dock has access by stairs or golf car ramp. A complimentary golf car will also be provided for your exclusive use (adult drivers only!) during your stay for access to the dock and beach.

We also have free trash pick up.

We are Pet Friendly provided you have a crate to contain your pet when left alone in the rental; your pet is currently in a flea treatment program 60 days prior to your arrival; and you clean up after your pet. There is not a leash requirement on our property provided your keep your pet under control. The neighborhood is 'casual' and cats and dogs do wander onto the property at times. A $50.00 fee for the first 2 nights and $5.00 for any additional nights per pet will be charged for extra cleaning to keep the unit and yard neat and clean. Any major damage done by your pet will be repaired and billed to you.

There is 'No Smoking' inside but ashtrays are provided on the deck and dock areas outside. Please do not throw butts in the year, driveway or lake. Thank you for your cooperation.

- "We love this property. The house is big enough for our family and the young adults spend alot of time in the gazebo at night. The kitchen is well stocked and the beds are comfortable. We have already booked our week for next year." - "We had a group of 13 adults and our 4-yr old grandson. Everyone had very comfortable accommodations and the kitchen had all we needed to prepare meals. The boat dock needed a little TLC but we were able to fish easily from it and it had ample room for a boat and jet ski. Parking was a little cramped but the host let us park on the grass near the driveway which helped us out a lot! The basement had a ping pong table, air hockey (which our grandson loved to play!), and a foosball table. The last 2 days of our stay were rainy so the opportunities for indoor recreation were welcomed. Highly recommend the Sweet Virginia Blue home if you want a place that can accomodate a large group!"

Looking for an affordable property with a great location then this is it!

We are located about a mile from Bridgewater Plaza, grocery stores, several boat ramps and restaurants. Enjoy our large dock for fishing, swimming or just hanging out ! The master bedroom has a Queen size bed with it's own private bath. The second bedroom has a queen size and twin bed and shares a hall bath. Have dinner on the back deck complete with a gas grill. Located on a private cove lot with over an acre of land you will have plenty of room to park boat trailers. The path to the water is a gentle slope leading to the large dock and sandy beach. A swing on the dock is a perfect place to enjoy the lake and the view. The large dock is available with the property but we keep our boat in the lift however there is plenty of space to tie up your boat at the floating dock.
If you are looking for affordable and convenient then this is the place for you. Just a note about the walk to the water since we have had a few comments on it. From the house to the water is approximately 280' it is not a steep grade as some on the lake are but also not a flat lot!

Lawn needed mowing to minimize bugs too and can opener was dull, but really nitpicking and would be my only real complaints. Single night stays accepted Sunday thru Thursday only. A unique opportunity to stay on a working Virginia Certified Thoroughbred horse farm where we breed, raise, and race Thoroughbreds. The newly renovated barn loft hosts unbelievable views of the mountains and our horses out of it's large picture window. Peace and serenity are limitless here on our farm. The farm is less than 5 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. 15 minutes to downtown Roanoke. 30 minutes to Smith Mt Lake. 45 minutes to Blacksburg or Lynchburg. 7 miles from exit 150 on I81.

The loft space was created so our adult children would have ample space and privacy when they visited us. It has a small refrigerator as well as a wine cooler. A microwave, toaster and a hot plate with two burners. Pots and dishes. A beautiful farm sink and of course a coffee maker that brews a carafe or a single cup. A desk for writing or computer work. A large sitting area and a 70 inch TV. Wifi access, but due to our location and barn structure it is unreliable. It also houses my art studio. I only work in the studio periodically and certainly not when we have guests. The loft space turned out so very nice that we decide to share it. We hope you experience the same peace and serenity we do here on our farm. Truly a beautiful part of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Not a day goes by that we don't count our blessings!

Please enjoy the entire loft space. The area that has the big picture window with counter and stools is in my studio. I am a sculpture who works in water based clay. Look all you like but please "don't touch" thank you! We also have horse stalls and pasture turnout available if guest are traveling with their horses for a reasonable fee. There is a hiking trail behind the barn that goes to the top of the mountain. My son-in-law runs it! I suggest keeping it to a hike! We hope you enjoy your time here!

If I available during your visit, I am happy to schedule a time to show you around and introduce you to the animals on the farm from a social distance. However, I understand the desire for privacy! You are welcome to wander but never open gates or go inside any of the pastures. Please don't feed the horses as they can nip your fingers and some of our fences are electric. OUCH!
This is a working farm and you have a bird's eye view from the loft. You will undoubtedly see the day to day chores, and hear tractor and horse noises. Due to the structure and location of the loft WiFi is unreliable. The 70 inch TV host over 200 pre-loaded movies of all varieties, but no cable or internet.

Nestled on the slope of Smith Mountain Lake sits Firefly Cottage~ where the sky is lit up with stars and the fireflies dance over the water.

The cottage’s wraparound porch and windows offer beautiful lake and mountain views from nearly every room. The home has an open concept kitchen that allows you to enjoy the company of friends and family while preparing meals. There are multiple dining options including two dinner tables on the main level, a bistro on the porch, a picnic table on the patio and a bistro in the lower level. The cottage is unlike most others in that it has TWO full size kitchens and two docks on the lake.

Upon entry you will find the living room, two cozy bedrooms, a full bath with a beautiful tile shower, a washer and dryer for your convenience and the kitchen area fully stocked. Off of the back porch you will find stairs that lead you to a private, lower level perfect for family and children entertainment.

The lower level has its own private entrance, please note that it is accessible through the outside patio, so you will have to go outside to enter the game room area. It has a full bathroom with a dreamy freestanding tub, another full sized kitchen to prepare meals or store drinks, a foosball table, an arcade bowling game, a ping pong table, Wii console, XBOX 360 with a variety of games, a smart tv, and board games. For sleeping accommodations, there is a pullout couch that folds into a bed! This is the perfect area for additional family members or older children to hang out, but we do not recommend sleeping accommodations for young children in the lower level as it has its own entrances to the outside.

You will have to walk down some steps to access the docks on the lake. The water in the cove is deep and perfect for swimming, kayaking or docking your boat/jet skis. There is plenty of space as we have two private docks for your use.

The home is professionally cleaned and sanitized prior to your arrival. The sheets and comforters on the beds are washed in between guests, as well as towels and blankets. For your convenience, we provide these essentials for your stay;
Bath towels, beach towels, hand soap, dish soap, laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, body wash, wood for fire pit and marshmallow roasting sticks. You will also find some basics in the home such as spices and oils. While we try to keep coffee stocked as well, we can’t guarantee and recommend picking some up before your trip :) We have a regular drip coffee pot.

There is plenty of space for families to spread out in this cottage!

Firefly Cottage is only a 10 minute drive from Food Lion and 15 minutes from Bridgewater Plaza, a hotspot for tourists to enjoy fine dining, arcade, live music, putt putt and other entertainment. Enjoy a boat or kayak ride to Jake’s Place restaurant on the water, or Bridgewater Plaza in just minutes as we are right down the cove from these amenities!

Amazing handcrafted cabin located in the center of the "Roanoke triple crown" (McAfee's Knob, tinker cliffs and dragons tooth trails) just minutes from each trail head. Cabin is tucked away from everything. No other houses can be seen from the cabin. The cabin features two queen beds, and a futon. The cabin overlooks a beautiful pond filled with trout that you can feed, with a small waterfall cascading in. Cabin was sustainability built with trees from the 20 acres it sits on. McAfee's Knob trailhead is 10 minutes away, Andy Layne trailhead to tinker cliffs is 9 minutes away.

- "This was a perfect place for my family to celebrate Christmas. We had a wonderful time. The host was so helpful from the beginning to the end. She assured us this was a great place and indeed it was. We enjoyed everything - the dock, the balconies, the hot tub, the ping pong table, all the games, the movie theatre, and more! The layout of this house is so accommodating for a large group. We had plenty of space and were never all on top of each other. All sleeping arrangements were comfortable and beautifully decorated. We enjoyed both the living room on the main floor and the den downstairs. There were so many TVs throughout the place with easy access to your own streaming accounts. We loved the big island in the kitchen - great gathering spot and awesome for a buffet style dinner. The location in general is so peaceful and offers amazing views. To top it all off - dogs are welcome. Our pooches loved the home - thank you for being so welcoming and accommodating to our fur babies. - "I was in the area with my daughter to visit colleges. We wanted an alternative to a standard hotel, and we picked the perfect place! David and Lee welcomed us on upon arrival and were very accommodating. The cabin is located on their property adjacent to a beautiful lake. The cabin was clean and very comfortable and it had all that we needed: air conditioning! was key because it was hot and humid. The bathrooms were also very well put together and also air conditioned! The cabin had a refrigerator, a coffee maker, and a full array of coffee choices. We were both surprised that we had great reception for data on our phones while there as well. We were also lucky enough to be able to visit with their friendly bloodhound Bo, whose job is to protect their goats, which was walking distance from our cabin! I can’t recommend a stay at this cabin any higher. If you’re looking for a cute, comfortable, stay in the beautiful Virginia wilderness!"

Nestled in the woods, this lakefront cottage offers a relaxing unplugged experience for your next travel adventure. The house is located down a narrow private gravel road, but the open driveway provides ample parking space.

This private one-level home includes a primary suite, guest bedroom, bunk room, and guest bath. The cozy living room, which has a TV with Dish Network, opens into the fully equipped kitchen and dining area. Between the dining table and barstools, the dining area provides seating for the whole group. There is a large screened porch with additional seating for family meals or simply enjoying the lake breeze.

Walking out from the screened porch is the deck with a gas grill. Steps leading down to the stationary boat dock offer a private sitting area, party deck, and floater with room to tie two boats. The quiet cove makes a perfect spot for swimming and fishing.

- "This place is so relaxing. The lake view and dock were amazing. It was very clean, too." - "The interior cleaning was ok, but the home is not in the best of shape. The road coming into the driveway is a goat path and trying to exit onto the main road is a death trap. The house entry was covered with spider webs, the coffee pot was filthy, the standing fan in the bedroom is coated in dust and dirt, the microwave under the rotating plate is dirty. No cell reception, no landline phone, no communication with the outside world at all. If there’s an an emergency, you’re SOL. The steps to the dock area are loose stone which almost tripped us, the walkway to the dock was covered with branches, I had to remove a log from the driveway lane on the way in. I can go on and on. $700 down the drain but it’s ok, I’m never using VRBO again if this is how it works."

A lovely cottage feel with great outdoor space as well. Our home is off the main water channel in a wake-free zone. We are less than 2 miles from the grocery store as well as 1/4 mile from Minnie golf, pizza and restaurants and shopping as well as boat and jet ski rentals.
We have all bedding and towels (including lake towels) ready for your stay. We have some outdoor accessories like a paddle board and some kayaks to start your play!

Every morning, a flock of buzzards surrounded the house, scratching our car paint and picking at window seals. The damage to our three vehicles was so severe that we had to file insurance claims, and the owner refused to assist in any way. Upon arrival, the owner greeted us with a sarcastic "good luck" and mentioned that birds sometimes attacked the couch cushions and trash. However, she conveniently failed to mention the sheer number of birds or that they would target our cars. The birds' relentless attacks rendered the couch cushions on the deck unusable for the entire week, and their droppings made the beautiful and spacious top boat deck impossible to enjoy in the mornings. The sound device to help scare the birds was ineffective. The house was a good fit for our family and the cove that it sits in is quiet. The location is convenient. We wished that we been communicated with about the buzzards before arrival . The lack of concern by the host was also unfortunate. The weather was great and as always SML is the best."

This tranquil room has just the peace you need to relax, work or sleep. There is a lovely garden with a pond, a fully stocked kitchen and a comfy shared living space.

Your adorable cozy room has a desk and lamps to help make you as or as little productive as you wish. Blackout curtains will help you sleep in! Brand new Early Bird mattress will give you the deep sleep you need.

There is a lovely backyard garden that has deer frequently. (The previous owner said he felt like a Disney princess with them)

We host frequently to long term guests and if I don't show dates for what you are looking for let me know, I may be able to open another room in my other location.

If your day revolves around 420 smoke seshs, our space isn’t the right fit. The new stuff is so strong that it clings to clothes and takes forever to clear out of the house. A casual smoke outside is fine. If in doubt ask us about it. :) Casual smokers make sure it is stored in an airtight container

A car is needed to get around or you will have to use uber.

Linens are washed with scent-free detergent and the house hasn't had any animals in it for those that are allergic.

The cleaning fee is for the turn over of the room, not for during the stay. It is your responsibility to keep up with washing your linens and cleaning after yourself in the common areas.

My home is perched on the side of a mountain overlooking the beautiful Roanoke Valley and city below.

🌅 You can enjoy both sunrise and sunset views, watch storms roll in, and relax on two levels of decks—including a swing perfect for watching the sunset or soaking in the valley views. There’s even an infrared sauna downstairs for you to enjoy!

This property is not suitable for digital nomads or those who work from home full-time.
👉 For long-term stays, guests must have employment that takes them out of the house daily and return home on their days off.
This policy does not apply to short-term bookings.

It’s the perfect setup for medical professionals or remote workers who return home on their days off.

📺 If we are relaxing in the living room, you’re welcome to join us. If We are out, feel free to enjoy the space and TV yourself! I don’t have cable, but there’s antenna access and Netflix. Please note: if I’m working downstairs, the TV cannot be used.

My typical guests are travel nurses and business professionals who are looking for a peaceful place to rest and enjoy a meal after long days. The house is exceptionally quiet—many guests have commented that they never even encountered another person during their stay!s There is an exception that when my husband is home, his office is next to the bedroom and he takes business calls during the day. And sometimes he has a weird ability to type super loudly. ;)

While short-term guests are always welcome, the house is not set up for traveling nomads who work from home full-time. It’s a better fit for those with in-town employment, and at this time, I'm only accepting shift workers who go home on their days off or short-term guests. I'm repeating this as many don't seem to understand this requirement. This does not apply to short term stays.

✈️ I travel frequently and may not be home during your stay. To keep things running smoothly, I provide clear kitchen instructions to help maintain the cleanliness and style of the space. You’ll also be in great hands with my amazing co-hosts:

You’re welcome to enjoy all the shared spaces in the home and make yourself comfortable. The bathroom right next to your room is all yours—no sharing!

Each guest has their own kitchen cabinet for dry goods and a designated shelf in the fridge, so you’ll have plenty of room for your groceries. The kitchen has all the basics you’ll need to cook a great meal.

🚗 Parking is limited to one car per guest, just to keep things easy and uncluttered. There's no room for extra vehicles, so please plan accordingly.

Getting around is easiest with a car, but Uber and other ride services work well in the area too.

The back deck is a shared space, and it’s a lovely spot to relax—especially at sunset. You're more than welcome to enjoy it anytime!
