"Sunset cabin" has one private bedroom with an extra comfy Queen size bed for a peaceful night sleep: in addition to a loft with two double beds.

Kitchen is fully equipped with the basics; dishes; pots and pans etc.
Additionally, we have, a crock pot, blender, electric hand mixer, microwave, coffee bean grinder and of course a basic coffee pot as well as a Keurig.

Naturally, there is plenty to do for the outdoor enthusiast!

Hiking, golfing, hunting, stream fishing, mt. biking, rock climbing, skiing, horseback riding, nature viewing, star gazing etc...

But you don't have to do anything...you may just want to relax and enjoy all that nature provides around this special cozy cabin!

It should be noted this cabin is located in a private subdivision, mostly secondary homeowners. All homes are on at least 4 plus acres and spaced out for privacy!

- "Pros (too many to list, but I'll try to rattle off the ones I can think of): - Barbara and Dan are super responsive to questions and to helping you get ready for a great visit. As the date of our arrival was approaching, we noticed that Winter Storm Jonas would be arriving that day too. So we asked about nearby road conditions, does their tiny street on the ridge get plowed, do they have tons of blankets in case the power goes down, plenty of fire wood (and dry and inside or outside and possibly wet), has the power ever gone out there, do they have snowshoes or sleds, etc, etc. They had quick, great answers for all of these to help us be prepared for anything. -Plus Barbara and Dan live only about 300 yards away. Far enough that you still have plenty of privacy - but close enough that they can greet you when you arrive and are close by if you need anything. - The house is stocked with charming decorations and lots of useful items like: good glass wine glasses for inside and decent plastic ones for outside, all types of pots and cookware, microwave, toaster, toaster oven, coffee grinder, toothpaste and shampoo in case you forgot, lots of towels, bath robs for the hot tub on the porch, etc. - The house was extremely clean, not even a speck of dust. - Huge wrap-around deck with a large 6-person hot tub! The deck was covered in snow for our trip, but I can imagine this would be great for spring, summer or fall. And the hot tub was great in the cold! (I recommend a winter hat though). Worked great. Lots of jets. - Really great views in all directions. Quiet, peaceful, awesome. - The wifi and cable on both TVs worked the whole time, despite the massive snowstorm. - only 20 minute drive to any of White Grass Cross Country Skiing, Timberline or Canaan Valley Resort. Things to consider: - There aren't many restaurants or fully stocked groceries nearby, so I'd bring as much food as you can with you to cook. That's part of the point of getting away into the mountains (getting away from the shops and everything) though, right? - I think this cabin is perfect for a couple or maybe a couple with two kids, but may not be ideal for say two couples, since there is just the one bathroom. - Pretty sparse DVD collection to choose from - but either bring a few or enjoy more time outside or in the hot tub! We will definitely be back once or twice a year for as long as we live in DC. Looking forward to our next trip there already!"

On different days we hiked in various locations including Dolly Sods, Seneca Rocks, Black Water Falls, Canaan Valley resort and the refuge, and visited Davis and Thomas for their breweries and music venues. Plenty to do. The house was very nicely furnished and clean. We had no issues with internet reception. Our hosts were quite accommodating and fun to talk with. The place was clean and modern yet appropriately rustic. Didn't see a single spider web under the eaves. About 10 minutes from a very simple gas/grocery/grill place. CONS. Almost 30 min to a town with a real grocery store and restaurant options (though for some people this is a pro). Check-in was 4pm without gaurantee, and off-site, about 20 min north so hopefully you're headed from that direction. Have to take garbage with you."

The Majestic cabin, one of eight cabins at the Golden Anchor Cabins is designed specifically for a romantic getaway for two.

The Majestic is a couples-only luxury honeymoon cabin located at the very top of our property and offers THE BEST view we have to offer. This one king-sized bedroom cabin has a beautiful bathroom with heated tile floors, a heated towel rack and a shower for two with body sprays. Upstairs is a picturesque game loft with a pool table, 60 vintage arcade game cocktail table, and a checkerboard high top table. Hickory House is a fabulous home with panoramic views, located in a private location and only 12 miles to all three ski areas and state park as well as golf course and minutes to Dolly Sods Wilderness.

Overall it was a great place for our kids and grand kids It would have been perfect if it was in Cannan Valley, but it was a wonderful place to be together. Some high back chairs in the Living room would have been appreciated. It would have been nice to know that there was a code on the door lock as we have five families arriving at different times.."
