Experience New Castle like a local in this 2-bedroom cabin and built for relaxation. Open floorplan layout with deck surrounding the custom log cabin that overlooks Craigs Creek. Walk down the ramp to the creek or grill at the deck. A flagstone patio is built right at the edge of the slope for the peaceful creek sounds. Lots of privacy and very modern design! Lazy Creek Cabin is a couples getaway with a great mountain view. The log cabin is located on a 165 acre farm between Roanoke (15 miles) and Lynchburg (30 miles) and close to Smith Mountain Lake. Nestled on the slope of Smith Mountain Lake sits Firefly Cottage~ where the sky is lit up with stars and the fireflies dance over the water.

The cottage’s wraparound porch and windows offer beautiful lake and mountain views from nearly every room. The home has an open concept kitchen that allows you to enjoy the company of friends and family while preparing meals. There are multiple dining options including two dinner tables on the main level, a bistro on the porch, a picnic table on the patio and a bistro in the lower level. The cottage is unlike most others in that it has TWO full size kitchens and two docks on the lake.

Upon entry you will find the living room, two cozy bedrooms, a full bath with a beautiful tile shower, a washer and dryer for your convenience and the kitchen area fully stocked. Off of the back porch you will find stairs that lead you to a private, lower level perfect for family and children entertainment.

The lower level has its own private entrance, please note that it is accessible through the outside patio, so you will have to go outside to enter the game room area. It has a full bathroom with a dreamy freestanding tub, another full sized kitchen to prepare meals or store drinks, a foosball table, an arcade bowling game, a ping pong table, Wii console, XBOX 360 with a variety of games, a smart tv, and board games. For sleeping accommodations, there is a pullout couch that folds into a bed! This is the perfect area for additional family members or older children to hang out, but we do not recommend sleeping accommodations for young children in the lower level as it has its own entrances to the outside.

You will have to walk down some steps to access the docks on the lake. The water in the cove is deep and perfect for swimming, kayaking or docking your boat/jet skis. There is plenty of space as we have two private docks for your use.

The home is professionally cleaned and sanitized prior to your arrival. The sheets and comforters on the beds are washed in between guests, as well as towels and blankets. For your convenience, we provide these essentials for your stay;
Bath towels, beach towels, hand soap, dish soap, laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, body wash, wood for fire pit and marshmallow roasting sticks. You will also find some basics in the home such as spices and oils. While we try to keep coffee stocked as well, we can’t guarantee and recommend picking some up before your trip :) We have a regular drip coffee pot.

There is plenty of space for families to spread out in this cottage!

Firefly Cottage is only a 10 minute drive from Food Lion and 15 minutes from Bridgewater Plaza, a hotspot for tourists to enjoy fine dining, arcade, live music, putt putt and other entertainment. Enjoy a boat or kayak ride to Jake’s Place restaurant on the water, or Bridgewater Plaza in just minutes as we are right down the cove from these amenities!

Enjoy SML from our beautiful, authentic log cabin with 3 bedrooms and 3 baths, centrally located on the lake , situated on a wooded natural lot on the water, with a beautiful view of the main channel. The cabin was expertly crafted, built in the 1980s with vintage logs circa 1820. Though the structural material is ~ 200 years old, it has all the modern conveniences inside including central heat and air conditioning , beautiful wood floors and solid wood doors.

We have wifi and an HD TV with Blu Ray /DVD player and lots of movies, as well as books, plenty of games and a well stocked kitchen. Bring your swim suit and lots of tanning lotion and take advantage of the huge, two level dock. Water depth at the dock is ~ 16 feet. Quiet family friendly Cove is perfect for floating and playing in the water.Tie your boat or jet ski to the dock -- or make good use of the owners 3 kayaks, paddle boat and floating toys. Fish, play corn-hole (boards provided), or relax and read a book at the dock or on the big rear deck at the house. Grill like a boss? We gotcha covered. Feel like a hike? -- head over to SML State Park, only 7 miles away by car. Located in a quiet cove positioned just a couple hundred yards from the main channel (near R27), this is where you’ll find your R&R, with peace of mind knowing that you are still near all the conveniences you need – By car: Food Lion is 4 miles away and the Hales Ford Bridge is 7 miles. 40 minutes to Liberty University stadium and 1 hour 20 minutes to Lane Stadium in Blacksburg! It simply doesn’t get any better than Cabin Life on the Lake!

There is a convenient public boat launch located about 12 minutes away by car and 5 minutes by boat, at Bridgewater Marina..

Did we mention that there are two wineries within 2.4 miles (Hickory Hill Winery and Ramulose Ridge Winery)

An excursion worth mentioning only 44 miles from the cabin, about a 55 minutes drive, is McAfee Knob (at the top of Catawba Mountain), one of the most enjoyable and scenic day hikes on the Appalachian Trail – Highly Recommended!

The cleaning fee includes linen service. Please bring your own beach towels for the dock and/or boat. Contact owner to discuss occupancy limits. The cabin is well suited for two families, putting all the kids in the bunk room!

Bedrooms: Clean bedsheets and bath towels are provided for the number of occupants registered. These will be found at the foot of each bed.

We couldn't keep her out of the water! :) The only thing that would have made the stay better was to have a boat so we could enjoy the entire lake. Next time, for sure!"

Amazing handcrafted cabin located in the center of the "Roanoke triple crown" (McAfee's Knob, tinker cliffs and dragons tooth trails) just minutes from each trail head. Cabin is tucked away from everything. No other houses can be seen from the cabin. The cabin features two queen beds, and a futon. The cabin overlooks a beautiful pond filled with trout that you can feed, with a small waterfall cascading in. Cabin was sustainability built with trees from the 20 acres it sits on. McAfee's Knob trailhead is 10 minutes away, Andy Layne trailhead to tinker cliffs is 9 minutes away.

The space
Previously a tobacco barn, our cabin is unique and cozy. Clean linens and towels will be provided. It should be noted that bedroom #2 is accessed through a door off bedroom #1. The bathroom is located in the main living space, off of the kitchen.
Guest access
There are stairs to access the creek which measures about 2-3 ft deep without heavy rainfall. A great place for the kids to play or for you to set up a camping chair. There is a friendly duck by the name of "Daffy" that lives nearby and may pay you a visit during your stay.
Other things to note
The home is rustic, not modern and certainly has a country feel. A speaker and camping chairs will be available for use during your stay.

We were very pleasantly surprised. The house had a ton of character, and the property was beautiful. We enjoyed sitting outside listening to the creek, and watching the cows go by. - "I was in the area with my daughter to visit colleges. We wanted an alternative to a standard hotel, and we picked the perfect place! David and Lee welcomed us on upon arrival and were very accommodating. The cabin is located on their property adjacent to a beautiful lake. The cabin was clean and very comfortable and it had all that we needed: air conditioning! was key because it was hot and humid. The bathrooms were also very well put together and also air conditioned! The cabin had a refrigerator, a coffee maker, and a full array of coffee choices. We were both surprised that we had great reception for data on our phones while there as well. We were also lucky enough to be able to visit with their friendly bloodhound Bo, whose job is to protect their goats, which was walking distance from our cabin! I can’t recommend a stay at this cabin any higher. If you’re looking for a cute, comfortable, stay in the beautiful Virginia wilderness!"

"Bear Necessities" is a quiet place to get away from the noise and hustle of daily life. Inside you will find all comforts of home including all new furnishings, a kitchen with everything you will need, AC/Heat, Wi-Fi, landline phone, Washer/Dryer and Alexa. Relax on the porch of your choice or stay inside this 2000 sq. ft. home. Move the portable fire pit to your favorite spot and stare up at the stars at night. The property spans 66 acres and borders National Forest.

Bedrooms: All bedrooms are upstairs. At the top of the stairs is what I call "the lobby" where there is also a Queen Futon that is good for 1 adult or 2 children for sleeping. Two bedrooms upstairs have Queen beds. There is plenty of room in either for a crib or playpen. The third bedroom is a bunk room with 3 sets of bunk beds. The bunks are very sturdy and can hold 1000 lbs. That is 6 single beds in one room! All mattresses are new and what we use in our primary home. They are very comfortable.
The only closet is located in the primary bedroom.

Bathrooms: The primary bedroom has a private full bath with tub/shower combo. The other two rooms upstairs have to use the downstairs bathroom with shower, toilet, sink.

Living/Dining: There is no TV in this home. It is our personal choice as this is our oasis from normal life.
There is a leather sofa, loveseat and chair. The floors are ceramic for easy cleaning. Included in this open room is a handmade dining table that seats 12. The rustic closet surrounded by stone is where you will find extras of things you might need for your stay. There are also games and coloring books.

Kitchen: There is a full set of pots and pans, crockpot, dinnerware for 16, coffee pot (does not turn off automatically), knives, toaster oven, dishtowels - you name it we've got it. Just ask and we'll let you know if it is there.

Outdoors: There is a charcoal Weber grill and utensils. There are corn hole boards and bags. Chairs and portable fire pit. There are a couple hammocks in the pantry.
Bring your BB gun and hang cans for a fun competition.

Guest access: The garage is off-limits. Please do not walk about the property. This is our hunting land and we like to keep the woods undisturbed.

Other things to note:
***There is no TV in the home. *** However, the wi-fi is great and we have watched movies and shows on our laptops.
There is very spotty/bad cell service in the area. When leaving the house, get your directions ready using the home wi-fi before leaving.

***Outdoor Pets*** There is a large, fenced in dog yard on the property. Outdoor Pets will be considered. NO INDOOR PETS

EXTRA SPACE: There is a small, one room, cabin on the property that is sometimes rented. If you are interested in extra space we can see if it is booked. It sleeps 4 people in 2 bunks. There is no electricity, water, or wifi at the small cabin which is about 200 yards from the main house. Private message me if you need this space.

There is a blue spigot outside to the right of the house. It will not be clear at first but will clear up. Feel free to use this to wash off if needed.

Located on a 7 acre farm with horses. There is the owners main house, a red barn Airbnb with a two bedroom apartment (sleeps 4), a yoga studio small event space, private therapy office, and cabin (sleeps 2). Guests can find local hikes just ten minutes away on the Blue Ridge Parkway including the Appalachian trail, and Peaks of Otter. This is a wellness center therefore we are completely a smoke, alcohol and drug free property. No parties or large group gatherings allowed. No extra guests allowed beyond the guest count in the reservation of two people maximum in the cabin. Please refrain from cooking heavily odored meals like fish and things that leave a long term smell as it's very unpleasant for the next guests. One car maximum. Thank you

Finally, while rare to see, there are snakes, rodents, spiders, wasps, and other outdoor nature friends around, so just keep an eye out for them and keep doors closed to ensure a safe and fun stay. Also, the millipedes LOVE our cabins. They are completely harmless, but good to know if bugs are not your thing.

Previously a tobacco barn, our cabin is unique and cozy. Clean linens and towels will be provided. It should be noted that bedroom #2 is accessed through a door off bedroom #1. The bathroom is located in the main living space, off of the kitchen.

There are stairs to access the creek which measures about 2-3 ft deep without heavy rainfall. A great place for the kids to play or for you to set up a camping chair. There is a friendly duck by the name of "Daffy" that lives nearby and may pay you a visit during your stay.

The home is rustic, not modern and certainly has a country feel. A speaker and camping chairs will be available for use during your stay.

Amazing handcrafted cabin located in the center of the "Roanoke Triple Crown" (McAfee's Knob, tinker cliffs and dragons tooth trails) just minutes from each trail head. Cabin is tucked away from everything. No other houses can be seen from the cabin. The cabin overlooks a beautiful pond with a small waterfall cascading in. Cabin was sustainability built with trees from the 20 acres it sits on. McAfee's Knob trailhead is 10 minutes away, Andy Layne trailhead to tinker cliffs is 9 minutes away.

There is a queen bed in the bedroom, a queen bed in the loft, and a futon in the loft. Cabin is in the middle of the woods overlooking a pond.

Magic is the word most people use when they visit this hidden gem. Built in 1939 as a fishing cabin by a gentleman who incorporated box cars as rafters and beams, dates still visible since removing the attic.
By far the best place I've ever lived. I decided to share it with others who love to explore, who love listening to the voice of the creek or who come just to sit on the porch high above the creek with a spouse, friend, family, or alone. For the best sleep, open the bedroom window!

The space
This cabin has the feeling of being in the woods, yet it’s right around the corner from grocery stores, fine dining, and great boutiques in little neighborhoods. Perched atop a rushing creek, you can sit on the porch, listen to nature, and forget the world above you. Or be lulled to sleep with the windows open. NOTE there is ONE bedroom with a queen bed plus a loft upstairs with ONE queen bed, however it is not suitable for two adults upstairs. 2 children are fine or one person.

The space
Come and Relax on the water at this beautiful cottage located in a quiet cove~

The cottage’s wraparound porch and windows offer beautiful lake and mountain views from nearly every room. The home has an open concept kitchen that allows you to enjoy the company of friends and family while preparing meals. There are multiple dining options including two dinner tables on the main level, a large picnic table on the patio and a bistro in the lower level. The cottage is unlike most others in that it has TWO full size kitchens and two docks on the lake.

Upon entry you will find the living room, two cozy bedrooms, a full bath with a tile shower, a washer and dryer for your convenience and a stocked kitchen. Off of the back porch you will find stairs that lead you to a private, lower level perfect for family and children entertainment.

The lower level has its own private entrance, please note that it is only accessible through the outside patio, so you will have to go outside to enter the game room area.

It has a full bathroom with a freestanding tub, another full sized kitchen to prepare meals or store drinks, a ping pong table, arcade bowling game,
Foosball table, Wii console, XBOX 360 with a variety of games, a smart tv, board games and more. For sleeping accommodations, there is a pullout couch that folds into a queen size bed. This is the perfect area for additional family members or older children to hang out, but we do not recommend sleeping accommodations for young children in the lower level as it has its own entrances to the outside.

You will have to walk down some steps to access the docks on the lake (52 from the patio). The water in the cove is deep and perfect for swimming, kayaking or docking your boat/jet skis. There is plenty of space as we have two private docks for your use.

Firefly Cottage is only 10 minutes from Food Lion and 15 minutes from Bridgewater Plaza, a hotspot for tourists to enjoy fine dining, arcade, live music, putt putt and other entertainment. Enjoy a boat or kayak ride to Jake’s Place restaurant on the water, or Bridgewater Plaza in just a few minutes.

The home is professionally cleaned and sanitized prior to your arrival. The sheets, pillowcases and comforters on the beds are all washed in between guests. All towels and blankets are washed as well. For your convenience, we provide these essentials for your stay;
Bath towels, beach towels, blankets, hand soap, dish soap, laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, body wash, shampoo/conditioner, kitchen spices, wood for fire pit and marshmallow roasting sticks. While we try to keep coffee stocked as well, we can’t guarantee and recommend picking some up before your trip 🙂 We have a regular drip coffee pot.

Buckeye Farm is located in the quaint village of Newport. You are only 15 minutes from Virginia Tech and 32 minutes from Radford University. Our log home is beautifully decorated and is situated on the property to have complete privacy. You are steps from the creek to fish or jump on one of the local hiking trails to see the most beautiful views of the New River Valley!
Note: We do host weddings here but unfortunately that option isn't offered on this site.

The space
Beautifully decorated space with pool table, large floor to ceiling stone fireplace, and the sound of the beautiful trout stream a few steps from the deck. Plenty of outdoor space to play corn hole, take walks, or let the kids run and play.
