The owners were great to work with as they responded in a timely fashion. The coffee bar was amazing with many options of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate with the toppings. There was firewood for the firepit and the little waterfall on the koi pond sound like a babbling brook. It was very relaxing and peaceful. We would definitely stay again!"

A super nice cozy log cabin located only 6 miles from Mount Airy and the Andy Griffith Museum. It is sitting on a little farm. Miniature donkeys and goats are on surrounding property. We always provide candy, orange juice, milk, breakfast bread or muffins. We are pet friendly.

- "Beautiful Home" - "Absolutely wonderful!! From the minute we turned onto the drive, we knew that this property wasn't going to disappoint! Traveling with teens can always be iffy, but between the disc golf course (my teen boys loved being able to play anytime they wanted), the pool, the game room loaded with fun games for all ages and the beautiful river that runs behind the property to explore, the teens had plenty to occupy them and keep them all happy!! The entire time we stayed at Riverside Memories there was not a single moody teen! Which, of course, made for happy adults! The kitchen had everything you could ever need and more! The bonus pay it forward pantry came in handy on multiple occasions. The entire property had plenty of extra linens, pool towels and bathroom necessities. The laundry room made it easy to stay on top of keeping them tidy. All the beds were super comfortable. My husband and I had the best sleep we have had in a while and we totally tried to figure out what type a mattress it was so we could get a new one just like it when we got home. :) When I say you can just show up to Riverside Memories with just the suitcase of clothes - I mean it. They thought of everything!! We will definitely stay here again if we ever find ourselves back in that area. Thank you for opening up this property and for the amazing memories we will cherish forever! Oh and our sweet doggie had the best of times too!!"

- "We loved our stay at the Beary Cottage! The house was incredibly spacious, well equipped, and in the perfect location for a mountain getaway. During our stay, we were able to visit Mt. Airy and a local winery, all within a 30 min drive. There are also trails near the house that are great for hiking and trail running if you are okay with hills! The views were beautiful, as was the house, and we would definitely recommend at stay there to anyone going with a large group! The long dining room table and large couch in the main living room made for a great setup to spend quality time with everyone in our group. The rooms and spaces were even better than the pictures. We were overall very happy with our stay!"

The hosts were amazing, surprising us with sparkling juice and a charcutier tray in the fridge to help us enjoy our anniversary weekend. - "We stayed here for our wedding party for the weekend and their was 21 of us and all had enough space. Cabin is beauftiful" - "The area was very nice, loved how the drive to the house was so easily accessible" - "The cabin was absolutely beautiful! Plenty of space and peaceful location. We had everything we needed for lots of cooking, laughs and relaxing. We contacted management for a couple of minor issues and they were addressed immediately. We went to Mt Airy for the afternoon and loved strolling around town. Be sure to take advantage of the DG before the last leg into the property. It’s not that far if you need something, but a little out of the way to just run out to pick up something. We would definitely stay here again and will recommend to friends and family."

Our fun log cabin is the perfect place to escape it all and get away. We are experienced hosts, just new to Vrbo. The loft sleeps 2 in a queen bed. The full bath has a walk-in shower and the living room has a gas fireplace & TV. The kitchen lets you fix your meals. You'll have full access to the lake & pontoon paddle boat. Go fishing, boating, hiking on the property. We have a large fire pit for you to use and fishing gear & life jackets We are so close to State Parks, Pilot Mountain & Hanging Rock. The space
The loft sleeps 2 in a queen bed. There is a pull out sofa in the den. The full bath has a walk-in shower and the living room has a gas fireplace & TV. The kitchen lets you fix your meals. The back porch is screened in with fans and the front porch has a great view of the lake with large rockers and ceiling fans.
Guest access
You'll have access to the entire cabin, the back porch with gas fire table, the large fire pit, the lake and pontoon boat and hiking around the 10 acres of properties.
Other things to note
Our cabin is a 1940s built tobacco curing barn. It was dismantled in the 80s and moved and converted into a live-in cabin at its current site. It was a in-law suite for many years and we've recently remodeled it for a vacation home.

- "First off, the view of the sun coming up from the back deck and the big window of the upstairs main bedroom is amazing. This cabin is older and rustic. We had the best time in our short little stay. We were there for my son’s wedding and We had my family of 13 including 5 (7&under) and had my DIL’s family of 7 come over for a rehearsal dinner and there was plenty of room for everyone. The little boys loved seeing the cows and goats and the 2 year old would go out and call to them and they would call back and he thought that was the best thing. The host Tara was wonderful and answers anything you need in just a few minutes. Even brought us extra firewood at 9pm. I would recommend this place to any large family who would love the farm/rustic life. The cabin is wonderful and beds were good. I promise this is completely worth the experience And so wished we would have stayed longer and be able to go visit the farm and learn more about the goat milk products. You will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere with neighbors hidden by the woods. Only 9 miles to a grocery store in both Pilot Mountain and King. You will have the entire upper level including a open loft with plenty of games, books, and toys. Enjoy a beautiful sunset and take plenty of pictures. Extra guests are charged an additional fee.

There are many day trip attractions whether you want to stay close or make it a day trip. Go to Winston-Salem to hear a live band Or visit a winery. From Zip lining to Dan River kayaking, there is plenty to do on this relaxing vacation. Don’t forget the sunsets...or the star gazing without the distraction of street lights!

- "The Good: Quiet and private. The drive up is beautiful. Everything is brand new. Hot tub perfect for 2 people. Indoor soaking tub is nice. 10-15 minute drive to Vineyards (Round Peak and Serre) and walking/biking trails (Fisher River Park) and grocery stores (in Dobson). The Bad: the directions to the residence are wrong (wrong address, wrong side of street). There was little information and pictures beforehand to know what to expect (coffee machine? What kind? Cooking utensils? Stove top? Etc). I didn’t receive any directions or wifi password or how to get into the community or residence until I emailed the owner on the day of our stay, and I didn’t get email back until after our check-in time. There were no napkins or paper towels in the residence. There is no dishwasher, and no directions about what to do with dirty dishes at checkout. The are no blinds or curtains on the large window in the bedroom, which would be fine because the place is so secluded, but there is a bright streetlamp right by the window, so it is very bright all night long. There was a regular coffee maker and a Keurig, but no coffee or tea. There are lots of fans and lights and some kind of plug-in mood rock device and some kind of plug-in rock sphere with water feature and other devices that have no explanation of what they do or how to use them. I never got the gas logs figured out. Also, there is still more landscaping to be done, but not a big deal. Overall, it can be a really special place to spend a weekend with a partner. It is a new place, so I expect some errors of omission at first. I would be happy to offer my thoughts to the owners, but they never asked for any feedback after our stay (we had to be one of the first couples to stay there, since their directions were incorrect and i had to unwrap some of the devices in the home to use them). I find this strange. Once they get some kinks figured out, I would have no complaints!"

- "The proper very clean, very clean, very satisfied with the property" - "Had a great time, but wish the weather was nicer." - "My family rented this house for three nights in October 2024 for a wedding. Here are the issues we encountered: Misleading Location: The map pin shows the home as being in the heart of Mount Airy, but it’s actually a 30-minute drive away. Our two kids elected to stay in town instead. Non-functional Amenities: The hot tub and fireplace didn’t work during our stay, and no repairs were made. Missing Essentials: The house lacked basic items like luggage racks (or any place to put your stuff that does not hang from closet rods) and towel rods. The kitchen was well appointed though. Despite these issues, the home is well-built and spacious, ideal for a large family or group but I would not book this home again."

This unique log cabin is tiny on the outside, large on the inside. Enjoy a cup of coffee & a sunrise, or gaze at the mountain from the front porch.

This cozy cabin features sleeping for 4 w/full size bed, twin bed in loft & futon (linens provided). Full size bath with 60” shower offers a unique perspective to small living. Dusk offers breathtaking sunsets looking towards the west.

Gather outside with your favorite glass of wine and enjoy the starlit skies.

There is a laundry house to the left of A Squirrels Paradise that also has a half bath available to all property guests. The key to the laundry house is with the cabin key inside the lockbox. Sorry, we do not provide laundry detergent or dryer sheets.

THE CABIN IS RENTED FOR ONE (BOTTOM) FLOOR ONLY! The second floor is not rented on Airbnb as it is an extension of Hidden Vineyard Tasting Room. Your key works for upper level.Quite time 10p.m. You may enjoy the second floor area as you are renting the lower studio apt during or after business hours. The rental unit has a beautiful fire place with a heating unit, 1 full-double bed, kitchenette and a bathroom with shower.
There is also an outdoor eating area with a small picnic table and a brick grill.

Guests have access to The Tobacco Cabin to the lower level where the lock box is located. Guests also have access to the second floor after or outside business hours. Guest may walk up grape vine rows 21-22 (near concrete well) to center opening to view Pilot Mountain ! plus it is a good photo option.

The space
Our cabins are situated on 8 acres of land, handed down through several generations of my family. We have an existing Tiny Home that is listed on Airbnb called "A Squirrels Paradise".
A shared Laundry House is available to be used by all guests. To the back of the property a "future Airbnb" cabin can be seen. If you need to accommodate a larger number of guests other than what a single rental will hold, try booking all three cabins to meet your needs.

Foothills Escape is a one bedroom cabin with a large bathroom, galley kitchen, living room and coffee station. There is also a covered porch with two rockers facing a beautiful view of Pilot Mountain.

Take a break and unwind at this peaceful oasis. Cozy Cabin with a breath taking front porch view. Private getaway from town but close if necessities are needed. Just 10 min from Mayberry. One queen size bed and comfortable leather couch in living area. The kitchen has limited ability for cooking, ie. No stove. I have microwave, toaster oven, griddle and of course keurig. Great place to unplug and renew. 2 night minimum please. Guests will check in to obtain directions and keys and meet Host.

The space
Slate Mountain cabin was established in 2020 as a labor of love. It was a tobacco barn that was remodeled to provide guests with a place to escape and rewind. It has a beautiful view from front porch of pond, but pond is not owned and neighbors request that no one enter their property. I respect this and my guests will need to respect this as well. Signage will be going up soon.
Cabin does not have a stove but has microwave, griddle, waffle iron and toaster oven for your convenience, along with outdoor grill and firepit. Stairs to loft bedroom do not present a challenge to anyone without mobility issues, but please be aware if mobility issues exist. I want everyone to be safe and comfortable.

Our cabin is a 1940s built tobacco curing barn. It was dismantled in the 80s and moved and converted into a live-in cabin at its current site. It was a in-law suite for many years and we've recently remodeled it for a vacation home.

Short drives to the local Food Lion, Lowes Foods and Walmart in King (5 minutes), Pilot Mountain State Park (10 minutes), Hanging Rock State Park (30 minutes) and the Blue Ridge Parkway (40 minutes). Lots of local wineries for those interested.

Garage has been converted to a Game Room with a 9 foot pool table, ping pong table and exercise bike. After 8 guests there is a $50 fee per each additional guest per day. 10 guests is the maximum allowed. Security camera provides 24 hour video surveillance of exterior of the home.

Spacious Accommodations: Three main bedrooms: 2 with king beds and the 3rd with a custom-built adult bunk bed (twin XL over queen with twin XL trundle). Two luxury folding twin beds in the basement offer additional sleeping options. Main level has 2 full bathrooms and the basement level has a 3rd full bathroom in the main log cabin. The separate Guest Cottage includes an additional king bed and a queen sleeper sofa, a kitchenette, and a full bathroom. Enjoy Samsung Smart TVs in every bedroom and common area.

Fully Equipped Gourmet Kitchen: Prepare delicious meals in our expansive kitchen—equipped with two sinks, brand new stainless steel appliances (including a gas stove with built-in griddle), granite countertops, and our famous Pay-It-Forward pantry, often stocked with spices, essentials, and treats left by previous guests! The handmade 8’ black walnut river table seats your whole group comfortably.

Game Room & Play Nook: Rainy days are a breeze with our expansive basement game room, featuring a 70” Samsung Smart TV, board games, an old-school Ms. Pac-Man arcade, foosball, and a Wii with numerous games. Upstairs, a delightful loft area serves as both a quiet reading nook (stocked with books for all ages) and a fun play area for children, complete with a road rug, toys, and two Nugget comfort couches.

Unforgettable Outdoor Activities: Enjoy our unheated in-ground pool (open May 1st-September 30th), a brand-new 6-person hot tub (open year-round), a private 9-hole disc golf course (information on our 18-hole course available on request for experienced players), a fire pit with river views, cornhole, and ample outdoor seating—including Adirondack chairs and plenty of loungers. Direct private river access is perfect for fishing and swimming (note: the riverbed can be slippery; grippy water shoes are recommended). You’ll often spot deer and other wildlife enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

Important Notes:

River Access: Access to the river involves a moderately steep descent down a natural clearing. May not be suitable for guests with mobility challenges.

Pool: Unheated; temperatures fluctuate with the weather.

Pet Policy: Up to two well-behaved, house-trained DOGS (no other animals are allowed) are welcome for an additional refundable fee of $200. Please inquire about pet suitability.

Minimum Age: Primary renter must be 25 years or older. No guests under 25 without a parent present.

Quiet Hours: 10 pm - 8 am.

Wifi & Cable: High-speed WiFi (Spectrum Gig Internet with mesh network) and full Spectrum cable package, including sports channels. Cell service can be spotty.

Riverside Memories is located in Mount Airy, NC, on the Ararat River, a short 2.5-mile drive from downtown and Main Street, home to "Mayberry." The Blue Ridge Parkway is a convenient 32-minute drive. The closest major airport is Charlotte.





***Wildlife*** This property is home to several families of deer and you will often see them walking through. As it is a heavily wooded area you will see any number of outdoor critters and insects. Our guests love experiencing nature while having all modern conveniences inside and being so close to town.

Riverside Memories boasts a handmade 8’ black walnut river table with 10 matching dining chairs. Your entire group can sit around one table. Our newly remodeled kitchen boasts brand new stainless steel appliances, a gas stove with built in griddle, granite countertops and a small island with 4 stools in addition to our famous Pay-It-Forward Kitchen pantry.
