All of the conveniences of home but one a secluded lakefront location. Wake to birds singing, coffee in hot tub on private deck, laze around. Tranquil Log Cabin in Private Mountain Setting with Hot Tub
Cabin
Collettsville, North Carolina, USA

Located in the beautiful John River Gorge, between Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain, GLOBE VALLEY RANCH is 'where the pavement ends' and your dream vacation begins. Our family began our dream of building quaint mountain cabins with the purchase of 117 acres on the Johns River in 2005. The Johns River and the Pisgah National Forest border our property and offer a beautiful, tranquil setting to be enjoyed in all seasons!

We proudly offer our brand new hand hewed log cabin with 2 bedrooms and a loft with 2 single beds. A wonderful six seater hot tub sits on the back deck of the cabin. We rent on a daily or weekly basis. In addition, we have built a 36x36 timber frame barn with a BBQ area and play area. We invite you to listen and observe the abundant wildlife on our pristine acreage and enjoy total relaxation on the covered front porch that overlooks 'Bear Hollow Creek'. You may also enjoy a hike down by the Johns River to 'wet a hook'. Our vacation destination offers a wide range of outdoor activities for the adventure enthusiasts during spring, summer, fall or winter.

Guest Reviews:

- "Beautiful place, so quite and peaceful. My grandbabies loved playing in the creek in front of house and the hot tub. There were lots of toys to keep them entertained too. We had fun at the River also. We will definitely go back again. Connie was easy to contact. Waterfalls close by this place is a small piece of Heaven on earth. Thank you for sharing it." - "Our second stay at Bear Creek Inn. Just lovely" - "It rained the entire time we were there, so we didn’t get to explore the woods area like we wanted to, but the house had everything you could need. It was clean, good layout, plenty of games etc to entertain the children, and the woods around the home are just beautiful. The creek out front was so relaxing and my kids loved it. Fair warning - the internet was super slow while we were there (prob due to the rain), but I wanted my kids off their iPads anyway so it was no big deal. We left feeling very relaxed and chill. Would love to stay again! One request - a wheel on the gate would make opening/closing it sooo much easier 🙂 Excellent property!"

Cabin Blowing Rock NC Mountain view Pisgah forest
Cabin
Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA

Beautiful Blowing Rock NC Log Cabin with Amazing Long Range Blue Ridge mountain Pisgah National Forest Views! Designed by Lisa Harris

The Elk Ridge Cabin on Apple Ridge is a beautiful luxury rustic log cabin tucked away in a lush green forest overlooking the Pisgah national Forest with long range views of the Blue Ridge mountains stretching into the distance. From the very large deck you can relax , sit a spell and take in the mountain air with amazing views and the sounds of the birds nesting in the trees. Take a walk down to the fire pit and from there you can relax by the fire, and roast marshmallows, sip a glass of wine and make wonderful memories with family and friends. Bird watching and nature walks with your pets are fun pastimes. The cabin is situated on a private road where you can see additional views and experience the unique ever changing vistas. The Fall Foliage is a special thing of beauty to behold. It's 2.5 miles to the quaint village of Blowing Rock, but you will feel that you have a piece of Heaven all to yourself. The location couldn't be more perfect. You will feel tucked away in a magical place, yet be only minutes from Blowing Rock and the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is convenient to Boone, Banner Elk, Valle Crucis, Grandfather Mountain, Mast General Store, hiking, waterfalls, and breweries.

Key Residence Features:
- Amenities include a fully equipped kitchen including coffee pot, toaster, complimentary wireless internet access, cable TV, wireless Blue ray speaker for playing music, large laundry room downstairs, large deck and backyard with fire pit and complimentary firewood, comfortable patio furniture and outdoor dining, ample windows with views, luxury high end Wilmington gas grill and more.

We bought the vacation rental because we wanted to share this area with others. We care deeply that all who stay at the cabin have a wonderful, peaceful get away to enjoy. We personally oversee everything.

The views from the deck are awesome. Especially in the spring and fall. It is very peaceful and there is a large yard with plenty of space to walk around the property.

We live nearby just down from the cabin so we are available to help whenever needed. We have a privacy wall and have planted trees between the cabin and ourselves to ensure our guest have a great stay.

We love living in Blowing Rock. We love hiking and motorcycling in these beautiful mountains. We have two dogs and three cats. You couldn't make us ever leave here.

We have met many friends here from all over the world

We know you will love it here also.

Beautiful Blowing Rock Log Cabin with Spectacular Long Range Views!

Cars are necessary to get around. The road is black top but uphill. .
Uber has just recently come to our area. I don't think there are a lot of drivers yet and they come out of the Boone area so call ahead.

This home was built to take in all of the wonderful views of the mountains. It is the most comfortable home that I have ever lived in. You wake in the morning to the sounds of birds and nature.
The view is to the south looking over the John River Gorge. The address is technically Lenoir NC but that is confusing. Lenoir is 20 miles away and this house sits high on the wooded Ridge line just 2.5 miles from the village of Blowing Rock. Yes, it only takes about 5 minutes to drive into the town! The area is Pisgah national Forest and is special in that this area will not be developed in the future due to the National Forest designation. In the winter the view is also very enchanting due to the fact that far, far in the distance you can see the East West corridor of I- 40. We call it the ribbon of lights that run just along the horizon line way out beyond the mountains. It highlights the beauty of the multi layered view of the mountains.

Guest Reviews:

- "The cabin was clean and everything was accurate that was described in the listing. However, we were disappointed by the nonstop rain, which prevented us from enjoying the deck in the fire pit. The clouds and fog were also thick. We did enjoy rest indoors by the fireplace. Hoping for better summer weather next time!" - "Cabin was terrific — clean and cozy. Gorgeous views with an amazing fire pit. Lisa was amazing anytime we had a question. My wife and son loved it and we will be back. Highly recommend the property!"

Guest Reviews:

- "Best place for our end of summer trip with the family. The river is amazing, the property and house are beautiful and very well maintained. We will be going back." - "The hosts were very communicative and easy to reach. They did a great job of making sure we knew how to get to the property and answering questions we had about things to do. The stream right outside the house was lovely and lots of fun to splash around in, with lots of gorgeous rocks to look at. The house was very cute and well-appointed - the only thing we missed having was a dishwasher, but it wasn’t a big deal. The first floor was very comfortable and the porch was great. The non-carpeted bedroom on the 2nd floor was not soundproof from the downstairs at all which was inconvenient (we originally had our baby in that room) but the other upstairs bedroom has carpet and did not have that issue, so we just utilized that one for the kids. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and appreciated all that the hosts did to make us comfortable!"

- "Just Perfect" - "Great mountain getaway...." - "Everything was wonderful! We would definitely stay here again!" - "It was very peaceful" - "Yes the driveway to the cabin was a little scary, but we got use to it only scary because we don't live in the mountains and are not use to it. It was so beautiful and comfortable there. We enjoyed our stay that we are already wanted to come back. We usually go to the beach but this was a better experience with no people. We are not a hotel but true to the vacation rental experience, which is we want to share our special location with you. We strive to keep our cleaning fees low, and we are generally 1/2 our competition on cleaning fees, but we expect you'll help us keep up with everything as you go as well. Some folks are looking for hotel standard everything or an vacation rental just like they stayed at in some big city. Thats not us ... we are catering to those of you who want seclusion, your own piece of heaven and of course the BEST views in Blowing Rock. We are 5 secluded acres in the woods ... our reviews feature guests who enjoy that experience and the occasional guest who doesn't get it and worries they may run into bugs & spiders outside, gets worried about a drive on a mountain gravel road, or didn't get it when we said we are "off the beat path". We are off the beaten path, come in enjoy the experience, know what we are about on the way in .... and thats why you booked us. We also do allow some pets under 50 pounds that you discuss with us prior to booking. We do not provide any food of any type, including coffee, especially during COVID. Thanks for looking at our cabin!

From the unmatched, far-reaching views along the Blue Ridge Parkway, to the quaint storybook mountain village, Blowing Rock, North Carolina is truly deserving of the title: "Crown of the Blue Ridge." Here you'll find popular family attractions including Tweetsie Railroad and The Blowing Rock, a plethora of unique downtown shops and outlets, and outdoor adventure ranging from hiking and biking to spelunking and bouldering. It's a venue for adventure, but also a place for ultimate relaxation. Indulge in a spa treatment, sample scrumptious vittles at our award-winning restaurants, or enjoy the hospitality at our local inns, bed and breakfasts, resorts, cabins or hotels.

Other things to note :
Please read our house rules . You must agree to these rules within 48 hours of booking via an online electronic “I Agree” statement back to us that you agree that your stay is bound by these house rules. We do this in leu of a written contract, we are happy to provide a written copy upon request.

Pets are only welcome if we discuss them in advance of booking your trip for our approval, including their type, weight (we allow under 50 pounds always, but ask us if larger), age (No puppies or cats ever!) and number of pets (generally we allow 1, but if they are very small maybe two if they already live together), always with an added fee per pet, agreement to use a pet crate if you ever leave them in the house and always let me know if you plan to bring one in advance of booking. Pets are not allowed on or in beds or on furniture.

Guest count - When you book with us we will ask you your guest count, this is then used for COVID-19 awareness and cleaning planning. You can not change or add guests without notifying us for approval. We reserve the right to not approve an increasing guest count prior to the trip, and we reserve the right to stop your trip if your guest count increases without asking our permission first. We hope you understand, but we do not just turn our cabin over, we require communication prior to guests being added regardless of the cabin’s potential for more guests.

After 4 guests we reserve the right to add a second cleaner for an additional $100. We try to keep our prices low when the guest count is low, after the first four guests we charge $35 per night per guest extra on all stays.

The Cabin is in the Mountains. The approach to the cabin means that you are comfortable driving a road in the woods, including driving up and down small gravel roads. Snow & ice are conditions you may find December 1 through March 31st we provide a shovel and a limited amount of rock salt at the cabin. Are you prepared for Snow and Ice for you, all guests, and your car is a question you must ask yourself when visiting us during the winter. We can’t forecast the weather, nor can we make it stop if it starts :-). Hence you need to be certain you can take care of yourselves and car (snowchains, or AWD, or 4x4 are the best options). In the event of a winter storm during your stay we will instruct you on where your vehicles will be placed for your safety, this may involve a short walk from that location to the cabin door . In general snow fall is light and usually melts the next day. Most of the gravel road is county maintained and thus cleared, however the last .5 miles up to the cabins is in a private neighborhood where snow removal is a group, best can do, best effort basis. That said we drive our Jeep 4x4 through all snow in and out of the same roads all the time, and we are used to snow. The winter months are wonderful months in Blowing Rock, great for a fire, some out door hiking, tubing, skiing and hot tubing, pls be vigilante on the weather as its usually in a forecast, and you can put yourselves and your cars in the right places for total success.

We are providing you a License to use our Cabin similar to that of renting a car, as a licensee you are bound to the cabin rules at all times, and you forgo the rights of a "lease" or "tenant". Violations of our cabin rules can result in your immediate removal from our cabin, by renting our cabin you agree to these terms. If you'd like a full copy of the license please let us know in advance and one will be provided to you.

WIFI - Its Satellite based. That means it has a delay and is not ideal for 2 way communication such ZOOM. Second it means that during a storm the weather can cloud out the connection and your WiFi may degrade. Most guests have found it great, streaming is possible if the weather is good, and we’ve had guests work and play in our cabin with out issue, but we do point this out as there are no buried cables or fiber on our remote properties.

Fireplace - Cabin is equipped with a gas fireplace, with an automatic timer panel to control the fireplace. We’re here for support on fireplace use as needed.

Guest Reviews:

- "Beautiful cabin with glorious views. Quiet and secluded. The place was perfect for us. Loved the hot tub too. Owners were amazing. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area." - "Our family had a great time at the big round cabin. The hot tub was great and the view from the deck is amazing! It could be a challenging drive up the mountain for some but worth it. It was definitely a unique place to stay and close enough to Blowing Rock we could be there in 10-15 minutes but not so close to be in the hustle and bustle."

Guest Reviews:

- "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were looking for a weekend getaway and when we arrived we knew this was a special place. The cabin overlooks a pond in a pasture. The cabin itself is just like the pictures. Clean and very detailed. There is a lot of attention to details in the cabin. We will be booking again. We met Randy and Donna at the pond the first evening that we were there. Very professional and great hosts. The rest of our stay we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the secluded setting with the babbling brook. We definitely recommend."

- "Very relaxing area. Quiet!!!" - "Nice house good room" - "I stayed here for an extended weekend for my daughter’s college graduation. The home was extremely clean and well maintained. The location was convenient because it was a short drive to Blowing Rock and Boone. The driveway leading up to the home is a typical mountain type road and is manageable as long as you take your time but AWD/4WD vehicle should be used. There really was nothing negative about my experience and will definitely visit here again."

Guest Reviews:

- "Our family and a family friend had a great time at the cabin. Great amenities and the views are stunning. Had an issue getting my vehicle up the hill to the house but my son shuttled us from a "parking area" at the bottom. Look forward to returning!" - "Our family had a wonderful time at the Summit. We enjoyed meals on the deck enjoying the fabulous views at sunset and later, for a few evenings, spectacular nighttime skies. The hot tub was a real tonic after the rigors of rafting and hiking. The grill served us well and we had s’mores by the fire pit on our last evening. Beautiful windows, comfortable beds, spacious common areas, and a very well stocked kitchen. We had some small issues and the host was extremely responsive. The driveway is challenging but doable. Overall, a wonderful experience."

Guest Reviews:

- "We all hung out in the spacious main cabin and the smaller cabins brought us back to summer camp days (but way nicer). The kitchen was well stocked with basics and there were plenty of towels and lots of drinking water. The ice machine was clutch. It took two of us to use the zip line but was fun. Big yard and they had wiffleball and such. Would recommend for big groups. Note that you need to travel on gravel roads for a few minutes to get to the house."

Weak internet, 30 minutes to a grocery store, deer, hot tub, cooking and drinks with your refound best friend with total privacy...perfect! 100 mile view, 2.5 miles to downtown Blowing Rock.
Cabin
Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA

Boasting breathtaking 100 mile views and a prime location for exploring the High Country, this property offers the perfect blend of location, serenity, and privacy. Nestled on 20 private acres just 2.5 miles from Main Street in Blowing Rock, you can take a leisurely walk down to the pond at the base of the mountain and spend the afternoon shopping and dining in the charming town.

This newly remodeled studio includes a full bathroom with tile shower, queen bed, sleeper sofa and well equipped kitchenette.

You’re only 2.5 miles from Main Street Blowing Rock. Formerly, this building was a Studio for a well known High Country artist and has been remodeled to include a full bathroom with tile shower and well equipped kitchenette. Sleep in a luxurious queen bed in the bedroom with 100 mile views or sit on the nook by the window overlooking Blackberry Gorge toward Charlotte. In the evenings, take your time enjoying the 700 square foot deck complete with swinging egg chairs, charming gas fire pit or lounge in one of many Adirondack chairs.

The cabin features tongue and groove spruce ceilings and walls as well as a sleeper sofa in the living area.

Whether your exploring the seclusion of the property or taking a nap on the deck, you’re in for a treat.

Appalachian Ski Mountain is 5.5 miles, Tweetsie Railroad is only 6 miles away and ASU and Boone are 10 miles. Downtown Blowing Rock is just a 2.5 miles away.

You’ll have access to the entire tiny cabin, huge deck and twenty acres to explore. Our property is meant to be a place of refuge and retreat from the normal day to day hustle. While you’re here make sure that you spend time around the fire pit, swing in the hanging egg chairs and make your way through the trails throughout the property.

You’ll also have access to the two acre, spring fed private pond at the bottom of the mountain. It’s perfect for that late afternoon picnic or pond side lounge or leisurely fishing. Make your way up the stream to the top of the spring and find that the water comes right up out of the ground.

The main deck between the large cabin and the tiny cabin is a shared space. The larger cabin may or may not be in use during your stay.

We love hosting and are thrilled that you chose Kate’s Cabin to stay while you explore the High Country. We’re here to help in any way that we can to make your stay more enjoyable. We’ll be here to help through the messaging system or through text and phone.

This cabin sits on 20 acres off of a private gravel road immediately off of 321 in Blowing Rock. We don’t have many neighbors, but the ones that we do are very friendly and you’ll likely see them driving by as they come and go throughout the day. Kate’s cabin sits at the very top of the only road in and out of the community, so please be sure that you do not block the road in any way that might impede our neighbors from getting by.

Highway 321 will be cleared appropriately in winter months. As for the road off of 321 to this cabin, it is paved but in the event of inclement weather - 4WD or AWD is suggested in winter months.

While the road to the house does melt quickly, it can be tricky with snow.

If you’re headed further into the High Country, we’d encourage you to take a drive. We highly recommend taking the longer route on the Blue Ridge Parkway to get from where you are to where you’re going. If you’re looking for another scenic route, be sure to take Shull’s Mill road if you’re headed toward Banner Elk or Valle Crucis.

Please park in the dedicated parking spot for Kate’s Cabin, as indicated by a sign on the light post.

This property is a historical landmark in the Blowing Rock community and was once home to the Moses Cone apple orchard. The main house was originally the Orchard’s caretaker’s cottage and this cabin was formerly a studio for a well known High Country artist.

There is plenty to do in and around the property and we encourage you to stroll down the private road past the cabin and main house as well as the 4x4 road down the mountain, across the road from the main driveway (please do not attempt to drive down the mountain on the asphalt path unless your vehicle is equipped with four wheel drive (we’re not responsible for any stuck or damaged vehicles that may come from driving down to the pond)). It is VERY steep…perhaps a hike might be a better fit?

Guest Reviews:

- "We enjoyed our stay at the tiny cabin! Brian and his wife were very kind and helpful. The cabin is the perfect size for a couple or with a young kid. It was newly renovated and everything was very clean and functional. Bed was comfortable and there was a big Roku tv which is perfect. Kitchen has everything you need as well. The only thing I would suggest is including an info sheet with how things work and maybe some recommendations for things to do in the area! It’s good to note that the bigger cabin where the deck is located is pretty close to the house (which I didn’t realize when booking) so I could see it being a little awkward if another bigger group is there using everything outside (mostly in summer). It would be a good idea for bigger families to book both cabins to stay! Although I saw some bigger cabins for cheaper, I think higher price can be justified since the location is perfect, minutes from downtown Blowing Rock, and view is amazing."

- "What a beautiful peaceful location! Amazing cabin, perfect for 2 people who wanted to get away and have peace and quiet. The owners were super helpful and communicated timely. Would stay here again and again m!!!" - "My wife and I went to Hickory for a month to check out the area for retirement. This lake cottage is an absolutely perfect place to stay to get to know the lake and area. The owners have meticulously thought of every detail to make your stay comfortable and feel like home, maybe better. The cottage is on a quiet cove and located on the best part of the lake. Easy access to Hickory and all routes leading anywhere you want to go. Boat dock you can use if you wish to bring a boat, which I strongly recommend you do, the fishing is awesome. As far as romance, it doesn't get any better. Everything in the cottage is top of the line and very very clean. After a month we almost cried when we had to leave and can't wait to return."

- "Very good" - "It was very clean. It was very secure location. Only thing id quibble about is ventilation. I like all my windows open and doors open. Not possible in this location. Now I'm just quibbling about my likes and dislikes. " - "The only issues I had with this listing were caused by the lack of transparency by the listers. There were many things not listed that are important to note about this property. I would not have stayed here and won't again now that I know. This cabin is directly in front of a huge home and next to a storage shed. This is not private at all. The windows looked directly from the house into the cabin and there are no blinds or curtains. The lack of shower is briefly mentioned but what isn't mentioned is the complete lack of hot water and shoddy plumbing system. There is a twin bed, but no child bed like listed, it is just a small couch. There seems to be no insulation as the "heater" barely kept the cabin warm. The price makes this a good deal, however proper preparations need to be made if you stay here and it's wrong of the owners not to inform people of that. "

We grilled out both nights, sat on the deck & enjoyed our meal w/the view. Not far from places to eat & shop. We will definitely be back" - "Property matched exactly what it said. The pond had a fountain in the middle that made it a relaxing environment. I would stay here again. "

- "We loved this cabin! It was very clean, beautiful furnishings, and had absolutely everything we needed for our 2 night stay. The property is off of a dirt road in a private, remote location but we appreciated the detailed instructions on how to get in/out and didn't have any issues. The views off the property were stunning! Highly recommend for a mountain retreat!" - "The house is beautiful and the amenities great. There should be more of a warning about the road. We came in after dark and it was scary! Beds and pillows not great. I would recommend bringing your own pillow! Still we would go back again - after snow season!!"

Charming meadow camp in the forest mountains near fish pond. Events are OK. Pet
Cabin
Lenoir, North Carolina, USA

Tent 3 I call “ Bambi’s Playground”. When I first discovered it I approached it from the trail going from the ponds through the forest on the ridge of the mountain. That trail itself is very beautiful in its serenity and then this charming meadow opened up, and the famous animation came to my mind. Bright cheerful clearing in the woods would be a perfect place for Bambi to play.
The stay at this location is magical. Walk from the pond to the campsite in the woods on mountain ridge. This remote location is pure and beautiful. There is plenty of room to have a small event. Or just be by yourself and enjoy .
This Tent is very remote, so I do not mind if you have a party there or and event. This place is just for you, your friends and family to enjoy and have fun. Just be respectful and safe. The closest house from you is about a mile away. Phone connection is very spotty to non-existent.
The Tent itself is a large luxury Tent that has four beds ( cots).
The Tent sits on a deck on a hillside facing the meadow.
Off the deck there is a large picnic area with fire pit and picnic table. The Meadow itself is relatively flat for the mountain. And large enough to play games or have an event.
The toilet and the shower cabin, are behind the Tent. The toilet is called “Poo-Pee” toilet, because of its eco-friendly design. The shower is an outdoor shower.
The dirt road leading to the tent is newly rebuilt and it is accessible by a regular car. (Although low clearance fancy car might lose the bumper).
Besides the Tent itself you have 180 acres of land to roam around. Hiking trails, Fishing pond. Mountain views.
The civilization in the form of the town of Lenoir is about 12 miles away. There you can find all regular brand shops, fast food restaurants etc.
The town of Hickory offers more choices and also a very large lake with several marinas, where you can get a boat.
There is a Tennis court in a community park about 10 minutes away by car.
Asheville is about 1.5 hr away to the West and Charlotte is about 1.5 hr away to the East.
The nearest airport is Concord Regional Airport, 115 km from the accommodation.

-As always with a remote mountain cabin, there is a chance you will see wildlife. We provide bear horns in the cabin just in case although we have never personally seen any. We also pay for pest services, but being a hobbit hole in the middle of the woods, there’s always a chance you’ll see a bug or two.

-The trash bin for the home is located near the entrance of the neighborhood (a few minutes drive down the mountain). Trash cannot be left outside due to wildlife. We do ask that all guests bring their trash to the neighborhood bins when the inside bin is full to deter inside pests. Garbage found or left outside is a 250$ fee.

Secluded Creekside Cabin in Morganton - hot tub
Cabin
Western North Carolina

Morganton and Lenoir are open for visitors post Helene.
Tucked down the side of the mountain on 3.43 acres with private access to Upper Creek, relax and unwind in our family. Only 7 miles to the Brown Mountain OHV trails (34 miles of off roading trails) and Brown Mountain Beach Resort, 9 miles to Upper Creek Falls, 12 miles to Wilson’s Creek, 13.5 miles to Hawksbill Mountain, 17 miles to Linville Falls, 18 miles to Table Rock, 24 miles to Grandfather Mountain.

The space
Enjoy peaceful creekside solitude at Roho's Cabin - named for the funniest man to ever live in Burke County, NC - Roho, M.D., stand up comedian (and my dad).

Listen to the relaxing sounds of the creek from the deck or while floating in the provided tubes. Practice the art of pause by filling and firing up the wood burning hot tub - a unique way to connect with nature during a chemical free soak. Relax in the cabin by the wood stove with board games, puzzles, books, and DVDs. Once you are fully recharged, explore the mountains with a drive or hike in the Linville Gorge, go off roading at Brown Mountain OHV trails, go fishing at Wilson’s Creek, or grab a meal in Morganton or Lenoir. Check out all the 5 star reviews - our guests love Roho’s Cabin. 🐓 You will too.

Post Hurricane Helene, be sure to check to see if your preferred activities have reopened - much is available, but some areas are still recovering.

Check out the Guidebook for area attractions and food.
There’s plenty to do in Morganton (20 minutes to downtown) and Lenoir (25 minutes away). Or take a day trip to Banner Elk, Blowing Rock, Boone, Black Mountain, or Asheville - all less than an hour drive.

Neighbors across the creek are cows and donkeys (they are not always in that field); Daniel Boone Campground neighbors to the North. Steele Creek Park is across 181.

Our Goodland wood burning (soaking) hot tub nestled high under the rocks with a fantastic view of the creek and valley is truly an epic experience, but it is one you must WORK for. The soaking (no jets) hot tub is sanitized and left empty after each stay. You will need to rinse it, fill it with fresh water (pumped from the creek), and then heat the water with a wood fire (unless you prefer a cold plunge!). The process takes from 2.5-4 hours, but the reward is well worth it. It is a unique experience that requires slowing down to enjoy the ritual of building the fire, heating the water and enjoying a chemical free, environmentally friendly soak. Goodland calls it the pursuit of pause - and we highly recommend it. Firewood is provided, along with towels, robes, a towel warmer, and a natural bath bomb.

Up to two dogs allowed with $100 pet fee, subject to approval at time of booking. Please provide the breed and size of your dog(s) when requesting to book and you will be asked to agree to some basic rules to keep your furry friend and Roho's Cabin safe and cozy.

Driveway is steep and narrow - front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive recommended. Drive slowly (and bravely) and you’ll be fine.
Or you can park at the upper parking area and take the stairs down the mountain.

Enjoy the provided linens, towels, and earth friendly products (such as Grove) - naturally derived hair products and soaps, recycled trash bags, etc. Cleaning products used are also earth friendly.

This is a great place to disconnect!
Starlink satellite internet with wifi is available and is fast but can be affected by weather DVDs, books, games, and puzzles are available for some internet free entertainment. Cell service is spotty.

Drip coffee maker makes a full pot or a cup at a time using ground coffee or pods. Compostable coffee pods, sugar and half & half provided. French press also available.

Outside enjoy views and sounds of the creek from two levels of decks. Propane grill and outdoor seating provided. Rock patio with seating located closer to the creek. Rock fire pit with seating - please check local burn warnings before using it and pour water on it after use. If you see firewood stacked nearby, feel free to use it. Outdoor items provided include Cornhole, floats, camp chairs, sand toys, water squirters, and giant Jenga.

Or jump on in the water - we are creek front with private creek access via a rock path down to the creek. For your safety, shoes should be worn at all times outdoors, including in the creek.

BUGS - this is the woods by a creek- bugs love it here (can you blame them?). Expect bugs outside and bring your favorite repellent. Hopefully none will make it inside.

Full access to cabin

Other things to note
Up to two dogs allowed with pet fee of $100, subject to approval at time of booking. Please provide the breed and size of your dog(s) when requesting to book and you will be asked to agree to some basic rules (below) to keep your furry friends and Roho's Cabin safe and cozy.

-must be very well house and potty trained, even in unfamiliar places
-no excessive barking while inside or outside
-no digging in the yard
-please clean up after him/her outside as they go
-please keep him/her off the bedding and furniture or lay down your own personal bedding to protect ours
-please crate if he/she gets stressed when left alone

Winter weather warning:
We rarely have ice or snow at the elevation of Roho’s Cabin (it occurs much more frequently about 10 more miles up the mountain), so it is unlikely to occur during your stay.
However- the driveway down to Roho’s Cabin is not drivable if there is snow or ice. The upper portion of the driveway to the upper parking area would likely be drivable in light snow or ice - it is gravel and not as steep, but it will not be scraped/cleared. Parking in the upper parking area means taking the steps (nearly 100 steps) down the mountain to Roho’s Cabin (and back up!) - or walking down the driveway. Please keep this in mind for visits in the winter.
If winter weather is forecasted during your booked days and you would like to cancel or reschedule, we are happy to accommodate. We don’t want anyone to feel unsafe.

-I keep the cabin exceptionally clean and treat the property regularly for bugs, but you may have an occasional insect make an indoor appearance. There are fans and 'Off' bug spray to help with the outdoor bugs. Also, the cabin is deep in the woods so don’t be surprised if you see wildlife around.

-Access to Mimosa Boat Landing (2 miles away) is for boats and other water vessels only. To launch a boat and park for the day is $25, however, you do have other options of boat ramps close by. There is plenty of space to keep your boat at the cabin for overnights. Swimming is not permitted at the marina, but there is a state park 20 minutes away. (Paddy’s Creek) If you don’t have a boat, kayak, etc. and are still interested in lake adventures, don’t worry, there are several places to rent watercraft.

- Extra services (for an additional
fee, if I am available,)

*Grocery runs during your stay

So if its a huge requirement to stream video then we may not be the cabin for you.

SCALEABLE PRICING: We do practice scaleable pricing in this cabin. Your cleaning fee is the lowest around for the first 4 guests, after that pricing increases $35/night/person until the cabin reaches its capacity of six persons. At the right time of year you can harvest your own apples, previous tenants have made pies for enjoyment and desert! Come enjoy the mountains with us ...

We are not a hotel but true to the airbnb experience, which is we want to share our location with you. We strive to keep our cleaning fees low, and we are generally 1/2 our competition on cleaning fees, but we expect you'll help us keep up with everything as you go as well. Some folks are looking for hotel standard everything or an airbnb just like they stayed at in some big city. Thats not us ... we are catering to those of you who want seclusion, your own piece of heaven and of course the BEST views in Blowing Rock. We are 16 secluded acres in the woods ... our reviews feature guests who enjoy that experience and the occasional guest who doesn't get it and worries they may run into bugs & spiders outside, gets worried about a drive on a gravel mountain road, or didn't get it when we said we are "off the beat path". We are off the beaten path, come in enjoy the experience, know what we are about on the way in .... and thats why you booked us. We also do allow some pets under 50 pounds that you discuss with us prior to booking. We do not provide any food of any type, besides spices/cream/sugar/coffee especially during COVID. Thanks for looking at our cabin!

Guest access
You'll have full access to the entire home during your stay with us!

We do practice scaleable pricing in this cabin. Your cleaning fee is the lowest around for the first 4 guests, after that pricing does increase $35/night/person until the cabin reaches its capacity. We think couples coming should not have to pay as much for cleaning as those who occupy all rooms / beds and this is our method of providing a discount to small groups.

Guest Access to the house and keys is either via a LockBox or by meeting you at the door. Your check in instructions and our dialog will determine which method.

Other things to note
Please read our house rules here on AirBnB. You must agree to these rules within 48 hours of booking via an online electronic “I Agree” statement back to us that you agree that your stay is bound by these house rules. We do this in leu of a written contract, we are happy to provide a written copy upon request.

PETS: Are only welcome if we discuss them in advance of booking your trip for our approval, including their type, weight (we allow under 50 pounds almost always, but ask us if larger), age (No puppies or cats ever!) and number of pets (generally we allow 1, but if they are very small maybe two if they already live together), always with an added fee per pet, agreement to use a pet crate if you ever leave them in the house and always let me know if you plan to bring one in advance of booking. Pets are not allowed on or in beds or on furniture. We do follow Airbnb’s policy regarding Service animals including dialog on the allowed questions to establish governance. We do not allow Pets in this cabin June 1st through November 30th due to cleaning demands and guest volume.

We are providing you a License to use our Cabin similar to that of renting a car, as a licensee you are bound to the cabin rules at all times, and you forgo the rights of a "lease" or "tenant". If you'd like a full copy of the license please let us know in advance and one will be provided to you.

WIFI - We have high speed Starlink wifi! Occasionally during a large storm the weather can cloud out the connection and your WiFi may degrade. You’ll have a high speed connection where streaming is possible. We have had guests work, game and play in our cabin with out issue, but we do point this out as there are no buried cables or fiber connection.

The Cabin is in the Mountains. The approach to the cabin means that you are comfortable driving a road in the woods, including driving up and down small roads.
