Thank you for considering our mountain cabin as your vacation get-away! We find peace and tranquility there and we think you will find it as well! The cabin, just over 8 years old is still just like new and offers sleeping accommodations for up to 10. There are two bedrooms downstairs, one queen bed (new Tuft and Needle mattress), and one full bed (new mattress), and an upstairs loft area that has two single beds and one full bed (ALL have new Tuft and Needle mattresses!) Additionally, there is plenty of space to blow up two queen air mattresses if extra space is needed for kids or extra people. The fully equipped kitchen offers stainless steel appliances and a sitting area to view beautiful Roan Mountain or any wildlife that may be playing in the yard. The large living room area is equipped with a semi circular leather couch with recliners on both ends and a large ottoman. Rockers are available in this room, adding sitting space for large family gatherings. There is a large flat screen TV over the mantle, offering a movie like setting for those who enjoy movies or TV. The front porch of our cabin is equipped with a swing, two rockers and other porch chairs, offering an early morning getaway for readers and bird watchers while listening to the stream. This is a favorite spot for almost everyone who visits the cabin. The back porch of the cabin is a great spot to grill and entertain. The 10 acre property that the cabin sits on has a natural walking path for those who like to get exercise without having to leave the cabin to do this. Additionally, there is a natural fire pit just across the bridge by the creek where you and your family may enjoy smores and late night chats. The creek water is adjacent to the firepit and readily available to extinguish the fire/embers after use. All seasons are beautiful here, as nature puts on a display of brilliant colors depending on the time of year. We hope your stay at the cabin will be a time of refreshment and renewal.

Beautifully renovated cabin located on Roan Mountain with a view from the balcony & second bedroom. Able to sleep 4 adults with two queen beds and two full bathrooms or 6 people utilizing the pull out sofa. One bathroom is private, attached to the master, and the other has dual entrance with the second bedroom and the hallway. The second bedroom however has the best view of the mountain out the large sliding doors which leads out onto the balcony. The kitchen is fully outfitted with everything you would need to cook whenever you don't feel like going to the base of the mountain to the multiple local restaurants. A cozy sunken living room has the pull out couch to accommodate more family members. We've outfitted the living room with a tv, DVD player, a small collection of movies, and some family games. Though we don’t have cable, the DVD player allows you to stream from your Netflix or Amazon account. Down the stairs is the den where you will find the washer and dryer with allergy friendly detergent. The stairs has a retractable baby gate at the top (please use caution still as there is a small gap). You can access the fire pit easiest from downstairs. S'mores fan? It's a great place to relax with the family in the evening and still have a great view of the landscape. Be sure to check out the windows during your stay. We've seen a little fawn resting in the grass, as well as goats grazing, a chipmunk, and many birds darting around the trees. The cabin is my favorite place to relax with a good book, or tell days gone by stories with my family. At the top of the mountain you'll find the Appalachian trail and the renowned Rhododendron Gardens (best in bloom the month of June) or Beech Mountain for some skiing and sledding. Along the mountain are many trails and a historic homestead. Roan Mountain is located within about 30 minutes of Elizabethton, Johnson City and on the border of North Carolina's Elk Park. There's a little something for everyone in the family. Antiquing, city night life, hiking, skiing, and exploring the great outdoors, or relaxing indoors and out at the cabin. I think this part of Tennessee will become a favorite vacation spot year after year for you and your family.

The Mountain House is located on the highlands of the Roan in beautiful Roan Mountain, Tennessee.

Our Mountain House is at 4200 feet elevation, overlooking the beautiful Heaton Creek valley. Full length covered porches and plenty of comfortable chairs offer majestic mountain and valley views and great opportunities to enjoy our cool mountain breezes.

Because of the 4200+ feet elevation we recommend 4 WHEEL DRIVE vehicles for visits during November thru February. The state keeps Highway 143 fairly clean and the county usually plows Log Cabin Lane by noonish after a snowfall but there will still be some snow on the road and of course in the driveway. Having said that, it's absolutely beautiful at The Mountain House during and after a snowfall.

The Cherokee National Forest is a few hundred yards away in most directions and, as the crow flies, the Appalachian trail is less than 2 miles away. By road, Carvers Gap, and the Rhododendron Gardens are 3 miles. The Mountain House is minutes above the Roan Mountain State Park which offers swimming pool, tennis courts, camping, hiking, and fishing. Actually, several hundred miles of trout fishing streams (including the trophy trout designated Watauga river) are within a 30 mile radius.

We are conveniently located just 35 minutes away from the ski resorts, restaurants, and shopping of Banner Elk, Boone, and Blowing Rock, North Carolina.

If you are sitting on our back porch enjoying the view, Nascar racing will seem a world away. In fact, the Bristol Raceway is a pleasant 50 minute drive away.

We've made our Mountain House comfortable and cozy. You will feel right at home, and will want to come back often.

We traveled to Sugar Mountain to ski over our stay and the roads were safe for travel granted the weather was around freezing most of the trip. Per the owners, a four-wheel drive/front wheel drive vehicle is a must during the winter during freezing/snowing weather as the local neighborhood road is not cleaned as regular as the state road. My overall rating of this property is 9 out of 10. There were a few items that could be updated; however, I highly recommend."

You would definitely need a 4 wheel drive to get access to our property during winter and rainy season!
You will have access to our 27 acres to go around and explore. Feel free to walk around, hike, have a picnic or just chill. It is very safe out there! However you certainly will see different animals since we are in the mountains 🗻 And that’s the beauty of our place 💕
There is a lot of space for parking just make sure as respect with other guests, no to block the entire driveway since there are more cabins around and cars would have to pass by in order to get to their Stays!

We have put some much love and work in putting together everything for this cabin so you can enjoy your stay at the most! Every single corner has been decorated very carefully so you can relax and have the best experience out of it!

With two spacious bedrooms, living and dining spaces, a balcony overlooking the woods, and a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to prepare a meal. Adventure in the many trails, falls, visit Watauga Lake, the ski resorts (Beech or Sugar Mountain) or one of the various nearby attractions!

Cabin #3 is part of a duplex. During your stay, you have access to outdoors of the entire property, including the fire pit in your patio. We have picnic tables, a winding road perfect for sledding down during the winter, beautiful tall trees at every turn you take, and sometimes you may be graced by the presence of deers.

Please note: A 4x4/all-wheel drive is needed during snow days since the drive up to the cabin from the entrance is a somewhat of a steep incline.

You will be provided a code to unlock the key box outside your cabin after booking.

We love Roan Mountain! Even though is a small town. We are close to everything 😊
Very calm and peaceful ambience!

You would definitely need a 4 wheel drive to get access to our property during winter and rainy season!

You will have access to our 27 acres to go around and explore. Feel free to walk around; hike ; have a picnic or just chill. It is very safe out there! However you certainly will see different animals since we are in the mountains 🗻 And that’s the beauty of our place 💕
There is a lot of space for parking just make sure as respect with other guests, no to block the entire driveway since there are more cabins around and cars would have to pass by in order to get to their Stays!

We have put some much love and work in putting together everything for this cabin so you can enjoy your stay at the most! Every single corner has been decorated very carefully so you can relax and have the best experience out of it!

You will find bath robes for you to wear during your relaxed stay and also , spa slippers so you can feel even more like home!

You can park up to three vehicles in the front of your cabin. Trailers and RV’s are NOT allowed on premises!

The property was clean but smelled very musty and moldy as if there may have been some water damage that was repaired. There is a dehumidifier that we ran constantly and emptied daily. Also the shower is very tiny and there are a lot of steps to the property and bedrooms. If you are a larger person or someone with mobility issues, you should probably look elsewhere for accommodations. The unit was supplied with the necessary items to enjoy a long weekend away."

- "Would come back again" - "It’s a cute place however the sheets were dirty and I had to clean spilled coffee on the floor. There was also no silverware and only one plate. With that being said once management was notified they immediately brought over clean sheets and additional silverware/plates. Also it advertised Wi-Fi however the Wi-Fi is VERY limited but out there who really needs it. I just feel they could be more transparent about their amenities. "

The space
The cabin has 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths, a cozy family room with gas fireplace, dining, a fully equipped kitchen. A washer and dryer are also included onsite. Enjoy several of the outdoor sitting areas to take in all the views. The bunk room offers books and toys for kids to enjoy. Enjoy the gas grill for dinner while taking in the fresh air and stunning views. Take advantage of the large back deck overlooking the mountains and river or relax on the front porch while reading a book. Our fully equipped kitchen includes a selection of cookware, coffees a variety of teas and basic cooking essentials like sugar, flour, seasonings, etc. Relax by the outdoor firepit on a chilly night and enjoy the bonfire while being surrounded by the breathtaking charm of the mountain. As our guest, you will have access to free firewood located next to the firepit. On the property you will also find a chicken coop, to which you may have access to fresh, free-range eggs if they are available.

The cabin is hidden away on a dead end street, there is one cabin about a mile past our cabin and one neighbor in front of our cabin. There’s a variety of wildlife from wild turkeys, foxes, mountain lions, bears, deer, snakes and wolves. We recommend always watching small children.

Getting to our cabin is very easy. We are just off the main road (19-E). The roads are paved and a 4WD is not required to access the cabin. There are front stairs, but we also have side ramps for your convenience.

We have regular pest control service, but insects and bugs are part of nature. We hope you do not come across one during your stay, but be mindful that this is part of the experience in the mountains.

There is a Smart TV located in the living room and in the master bedroom. There is also a DVD player with a variety of movies to choose from. A built-in speaker system is also available to play your favorite CD music.

Guest access
You have the entire cabin to yourself and access to the 5 acres. Guests have full access to entire cabin, except for master closet. There are other out buildings/barns on the property, you are welcome to walk around, but do not enter buildings for safety reasons. The yellow house is our neighbor, please be respectful of their property. There are a few farm animals on site such as, cows, geese, chickens and dogs. Please do not enter the animal fenced areas or feed the animals. You are welcome to collect fresh eggs in the morning from the chicken coop compartment (if available). You might see our staff member that resides in one of the outbuildings on the property, feeding and tending the animals, don’t hesitate to say hello.

If you wish to explore there is plenty to do nearby. You may use the two bicycles to explore the surrounding paved roads. Note that we will not be responsible for any injury or damage. Use them at your own risk.

The cabin is located in the mountains so cell phone service is limited. However, the following phone carriers seem to work fine, Verizon, T-Mobile, Metro PCS and Spectrum. We do offer free Wi-Fi, I have been able to work from the cabin and stream my favorite tv shows without problems. Weather might interfere with Wi-Fi connection.

Please note: A 4x4/all-wheel drive is needed during snow days since the drive up to the cabin from the entrance is a somewhat of a steep incline.

We love Roan Mountain! Even though is a small town. We are close to everything 😊Very calm and peaceful ambience!

You would definitely need a 4 wheel drive to get access to our property during winter and rainy season!

You will have access to our 27 acres to go around and explore. Feel free to walk around; hike ; have a picnic or just chill. It is very safe out there! However you certainly will see different animals since we are in the mountains 🗻 And that’s the beauty of our place 💕

There is a lot of space for parking just make sure as respect with other guests, no to block the entire driveway since there are more cabins around and cars would have to pass by in order to get to their Stays!

We have put some much love and work in putting together everything for this cabin so you can enjoy your stay at the most! Every single corner has been decorated very carefully so you can relax and have the best experience out of it!

You will find bath robes for you to wear during your relaxed stay and also , spa slippers so you can feel even more like home!

You can park up to two vehicles in the front of your cabin. Trailers and RV’s are NOT allowed on premises!

‘Dave’s place’ is located on a private driveway just minutes from Roan Mountain State Park. This quiet and relaxing mountain get away is perfect for those wanting to hike the Appalachian trail, explore the near by park and attractions, or simply sit back and enjoy the fresh mountain air. Enjoy a creek behind the house. A bridge going across the creek includes benches.

The space
This is an inviting space and has several places to get cozy. Each bedroom has a queen bed with cable TV. The cable provider is Spectrum. The living room has a wood stove and TV - perfect for relaxing. Outside, there is a wrap around porch with a fire pit. There is also a Pack and Play available.

Our dog, Pearl, (in the house below) will visit you. Don’t leave shoes on the porch or she will nab them. She will also follow you up and down the driveway. She won’t get under your tires…so don’t worry about going your normal speed.

There is a queen bed in the main bedroom as well as a twin size bed in the semi-private loft. Bear Cabin sleeps 2 adults comfortably with up to 2 children. One on the twin in the loft and one on the futon in the living area. Please bring bedding for the futon if you plan to use.

Jake's Cabin is approximately 600 square feet. There is a living/kitchen combo area with wood burning fireplace. Please bring your firewood! The space is small but mighty! It is quaint, comfortable, cozy, and magical!

"The Creek House" as we call it is a completely rennovated 1930's style bungalow with a great room, new stone wood burning fireplace, and two bedrooms (one queen and 2 twin beds).

The space
The cabin has 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths, a cozy family room with gas fireplace, dining, a fully equipped kitchen. A washer and dryer are also included onsite. Enjoy several of the outdoor sitting areas to take in all the views. The bunk room offers books and toys for kids to enjoy. Enjoy the gas grill for dinner while taking in the fresh air and stunning views. Take advantage of the large back deck overlooking the mountains and river or relax on the front porch while reading a book. Our fully equipped kitchen includes a selection of cookware, coffees a variety of teas and basic cooking essentials like sugar, flour, seasonings, etc. Relax by the outdoor firepit on a chilly night and enjoy the bonfire while being surrounded by the breathtaking charm of the mountain. As our guest, you will have access to free firewood located next to the firepit. On the property you will also find a chicken coop, to which you may have access to fresh, free-range eggs if they are available.

The cabin is hidden away on a dead end street, there is one cabin about a mile past our cabin and one neighbor in front of our cabin. There’s a variety of wildlife from wild turkeys, foxes, mountain lions, bears, deer, snakes and wolves. We recommend always watching small children.

Getting to our cabin is very easy. We are just off the main road (19-E). The roads are paved and a 4WD is not required to access the cabin. There are front stairs, but we also have side ramps for your convenience.

We have regular pest control service, but insects and bugs are part of nature. We hope you do not come across one during your stay, but be mindful that this is part of the experience in the mountains.

There is a Smart TV located in the living room and in the master bedroom. There is also a DVD player with a variety of movies to choose from. A built-in speaker system is also available to play your favorite CD music.

You have the entire cabin to yourself and access to the 5 acres. Guests have full access to entire cabin, except for master closet. There are other out buildings/barns on the property, you are welcome to walk around, but do not enter buildings for safety reasons. The yellow house is our neighbor, please be respectful of their property. There are a few farm animals on site such as, cows, geese, chickens and dogs. Please do not enter the animal fenced areas or feed the animals. You are welcome to collect fresh eggs in the morning from the chicken coop compartment. You might see our staff member that resides in one of the outbuildings on the property, feeding and tending the animals, don’t hesitate to say hello.

If you wish to explore there is plenty to do nearby. You may use the two bicycles to explore the surrounding paved roads. Note that we will not be responsible for any injury or damage. Use them at your own risk.

A maximum of 8 guests are allowed in the cabin. No extra guests are allowed.
There is the possibility of encountering potentially dangerous animal. Black bears live on the mountain amongst other wildlife. Do not leave food outside or cars unlocked or you may find a curious bear coming to take a look.
The cabin is located in the mountains so cell phone service is limited. However, the following phone carriers seem to work fine, Verizon, T-Mobile, Metro PCS and Spectrum. We do offer free Wi-Fi, I have been able to work from the cabin and stream my favorite tv shows without problems. Weather might interfere with Wi-Fi connection.

Our newly built 2 bedroom & 1 bath Bear Cub Cabin with outdoor fireplace & hot tub is nestled in the quaint town of Roan Mountain, TN. With easy access from Highway 19E, this hidden gem offers all amenities while providing you the calm and serenity of Doe River just steps from your door.

The cabin is a part of the lovely Doe River Landing, a family operated camping resort, that includes a large new playground, hiking trails, fishing holes, dog area, horseshoes, and all kinds of mountain fun!

Welcome to Bear Cub Cabin, a newly built cabin at Doe River Landing camping resort located in the foothills of Blue Ridge Mountains.

This cabin’s open layout is designed to bring your group together with elegant furnishings throughout the entire space that are highlighted by cozy lighting and the flames of the intimate indoor gas fireplace below the smart TV.

Outside includes a private covered deck that wraps around the cabin. The deck is a unique highlight of this cabin providing an outdoor living space including high-top dining area, comfortable lounge seating, another gas fireplace with smart TV and a new hot tub. In addition, the spacious yard offers a large fire pit with four Adirondack chairs for cozy seating and stunning views of the Appalachian Mountains.

A quick hike down the gravel trail provides access to the rest of the property including a playground, fishing holes on Doe River, hiking trails, and more mountain fun.

Upon Checkout: We kindly ask that you keep the property in a reasonably tidy and organized state throughout your stay. If property is found to be unreasonably messy and/or in disarray, an additional cleaning fee may be charged to cover the extra time and effort required to restore the property to its original condition.

Furniture Placement: Please leave all furniture in its original location as it was upon your arrival. If furniture has been moved and not returned to its original position upon check-out, a fee may be charged to cover the cost of rearranging the furniture to its proper place.

A 4x4/all-wheel drive is highly ( but not needed) recommended during snow days since the drive up to the cabin from the entrance is a somewhat of a steep incline.

Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay in Roan Mountain. Nestled on 36 acres with access to Doe River. Fly fish, build a fire, hike the Roan Mountain Balds, visit Elk River Falls, and enjoy running and biking on Old Railroad Grade Rd which used to be the Old Tweetsie Railroad and follows the Doe for miles! Soak in the Hottub after a long hike! The river path is across the yard. It’s about 100 yards from the house. Perfect for tubing and swimming

The space
Two bedrooms with queen beds on the main floor and a bedroom upstairs with two queens. There is also a closet nook that has two twins for the kids but this space does not have a door. Full bath on both levels. The cabin is only 1300 sq ft so keep that in mind when you book with friends or an extra family. Not a problem though because you’ll want to be outside adventuring anyway! Grab a few tubes and tube the river, perfect trout fishing on the Doe, Appalachian trail is a few miles away, bring bikes and bike old railroad grade rd for miles with nothing but the river beside you.

The cabin is 20 miles to Banner Elk for skiing and snowboarding. 15 miles from Carvers Gap and 15 miles to Watauga Lake. It is about a mile off Highway 19E on the beautiful Old Railroad Grade Rd. that is listed as a hike/bike trail on AllTrails. If you go left out of the driveway you can go for miles with little traffic and nothing but the river beside you.
