- "I am obsessed with the property and the bus! My husband and I stayed for a night with our three toddlers while taking a night off from section hiking the AT. We all slept in the king bed in the back which was INSANELY comfortable. The hosts are a super sweet little family. Our laundry was done for a small fee very quickly. Communication with the hosts was excellent. They provided so much helpful information on local places to visit for after our hike. The communal glamping bathroom was the nicest bathroom I’ve ever seen at a campsite. A toilet is inside the bus only to be used during bad weather or at night for guest convenience. The property is green and gorgeous, has a little creek on it. There is a grill under a gazebo and the hosts provide propane at no additional cost. We were able to grill hot dogs. The kids LOVED the bus. Also the main house where you check in is STOCKED with little snacks, ice cream, food you can heat up, and other little conveniences available for purchase. All the other structures on the property are adorable! For us the only potential issue was that the door locks on the inside, but unlocks easily with turning the knob. Totally fine if you have older kids or adults. If you have crazy toddlers there’s a potential escape hazard there. But we just barricaded the way out with our bags so it was fine. I would stay there every night if we could! I hope we get to stay again. "

Enjoy the beauty of the Smoky Mountains from this 2019 constructed one bedroom, 3-bathroom open concept log cabin. With 2 gas fireplaces, wrap around porch, and panoramic long range mountain views, you can revel in the great outdoors without stepping outside. There are no steps to climb for easy access and unloading! You’ll be just 25 minutes from Bryson City, so you can enjoy both peace and quiet and proximity to the attractions of town.

The log cabin is at 4,000 feet elevation in a private gated community. You will appreciate the casual charm of the cabin’s large interior with tongue-in-groove walls and ceiling with beams and engineered hardwood flooring throughout except the three bathrooms which are tiled.

Upstairs there are two flat screen HDTV's with YouTube TV. The living room is a 65" Smart TV with access to Netflix, Apple TV, Prime Video and YouTube. Limited cell coverage on the drive-up the mountain but we have WIFI and our Verizon cell phones normally work well at the cabin. There is a WIFI landline and phone in cabin for emergency service.

Downstairs there is another flat screen HDTV, 14-foot shuffleboard table, dart board, wall hanging connect four and many games and puzzles with a game table. Also, a coffee/wine bar and another full bathroom with custom walk-in tile shower and granite countertop. There are also 2 bedrooms that will be locked.

Custom kitchen with granite counter tops. Stainless steel appliances, gas stove/oven, microwave, and dishwasher. The kitchen has everything you will need to cook (pots, pans, Crockpot, waffle maker, utensils, plates, bowls, silverware, etc.) meals during your stay.

The master bedroom features a king-sized log frame and new mattress, matching log chest, and two log end tables with lamps. Off of the master bedroom is a full bathroom with a large tiled shower that is open to the beamed ceiling. The master bathroom also has dual vanities.

The second bathroom upstairs has a tub and shower. Large single vanity and laundry room with new washer and dryer. Plenty of storage for the utmost convenience.

A new Hot Tub and Porch Swing for two below the deck for privacy where you can enjoy the long-range mountain views. The stars are unbelievably gorgeous on a clear night. Beside the hot tub is a picnic table for casual dining and relaxing.

There is a fire-pit to enjoy the cool mountain nights roasting marshmallows or hot dogs.

Elk Ridge Summit is located in the prestigious gated community - Alarka Highlands about 25 minutes from Bryson City. For entertaining there is a community Pavilion with a large stone fireplace. Several hiking trails to enjoy the beauty of the mountains. The drive is steep. A 4WD vehicle is recommended for winter or bad weather travel. No refunds for bad weather, however, we will credit you for a future stay if possible. The address cannot be found on GPS. The driving app WAZE, will direct you to our road within the community.

Bryson City, Nantahala Outdoor Center, Fontana Lake, Harrah's Casino, Cherokee, Nantahala River Gorge (white water rafting), Tsali Biking, Fontana Lake, and an entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway/Smoky Mountains are all a quick scenic drive away. The Bryson City area is home to wonderful restaurants, breweries, the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad, hiking, zip-lining, trout fishing, and canoeing. Maggie Valley is close for snow skiing. Many local small towns offer shopping and dining as well.

A short drive will take you to restaurants, shopping, museums, and historic attractions of Bryson City. Take the night off from cooking and check out the local fare in Bryson City. Enjoy a comforting meal at the historic Fryemont Inn (ask for Sarge at the bar) or Everett Street Diner, go for a margarita and Mexican favorites at Guayabitos Restaurant, or get a taste of the local craft beer at Mountain Layers Brewery, one of our favorite stops.

There’s no shortage of activities in the Great Smoky Mountains. Make the quick trip up to Deep Creek to hike up to a waterfall or set up shop by a fishing stream, while mountain bikers take advantage of the nearby trails. Also enjoy many hiking trails in the area, rafting, trout fishing, tubing, zip lines, Clingman’s Dome and other attractions. The Casino and Golf Course in Cherokee is only 50 minutes from the cabin. Only 1 hour to Asheville and nice drive to Gatlinburg.

- All-wheel drive, or 4WD vehicles highly recommended. Motorcycles, rear wheel drive cars/trucks/vans will not make it up the last 1/2 mile due to the hills and gravel roads. ATVs and RVs are not permitted.

The pictures and previous glowing reviews sold us on the location and property, but it's another thing entirely to make the drive up and walk in the front door - just WOW. We can't imagine a place more inviting and warm, and Amy & David's attention to detail throughout is beyond thoughtful. It's immediately apparent how much love they've put into their home and we feel blessed to have had an opportunity to experience it. We were housebound for a majority of our 3 nights there due to some fluctuating weather, but we honestly couldn't have been happier - as folks who enjoy cooking for catharsis, their kitchen was a complete delight, and the downtime in the hot tub, using their stock of puzzles & games and morning coffee + hummingbird-watching on the top deck were just what we needed. Watching the "smoke" creep over the mountains and into the valleys was magic - every time we looked outside the vista seemed to have evolved into something even more beautiful. Our hosts were super responsive during booking and leading into the trip, providing excellent recommendations of what to bring, what to see/where to go and how to make the most of their accommodations. The driving directions and overall instructions are foolproof, providing answers to any questions we could have had ingoing and during our stay. "Knotty Knoll" log cabin is nestled on 3+ acres.. The cabin is secluded, yet only 5 minutes to Downtown Bryson City.
Surrounded by mature trees and beautiful foliage, the atmosphere is peaceful, quiet, with fantastic views of the mountains and forest.
The well maintained private road will lead you to Knotty Knoll. The paved driveway is in excellent condition and easily accessible year-round...no need for 4WD. Ice melt is provided in case of ice on the driveway or stairs during the winter months.

The open floor plan features vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, and a wood burning fireplace faced with local creek stones. Dry split firewood is provided for an optional $25 fee. Please provide your own kindling.
The cabin features 2 bedrooms.. one with a king size bed and the other with a queen size bed. The spacious loft has 2 additional twin size beds along with a full bathroom.
The main floor full bathroom features a clawfoot tub/shower.

Liquid hand soap is provided as well as travel-size shampoo and conditioner.
The living room offers a comfortable sectional sofa that seats 4 and a cushioned rocker. The dining room table will accommodate 6. The upstairs loft provides additional space for children and adults, 2 twin beds, a small game table with 2 chairs, and a relaxing easy chair.
The kitchen is well equipped with updated appliances, microwave, pots and pans, utensils, blender, electric mixer, crock pot, 4-slice toaster, and coffee makers (espresso, regular, and Keurig). Dish detergent and paper towels provided.

Explore the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Deep Creek Recreation Area, and the Road to Nowhere. Fontana Lake and dam is within 20 minutes, Harrah's Casino in Cherokee is nearby. Asheville and the nearest airport are 1 hour away. Gatlinburg is an hour and 15 minutes. You can even golf in nearby Whittier!

Even though it is secluded and peaceful in two minutes, you can be in downtown Bryson city. We enjoy hiking as our main activity and you can’t go wrong with the numerous trails available in all directions. We also enjoy eating dinner out so between the many restaurants at Bryson city, NOC, etc. we had plenty to choose from. The hosts are the best and were available at any time if we needed anything, which we didn’t. Thank you for sharing this special cabin in the woods and we hope to return sometime soon!"
