This 2/2, 900 sqft log cabin, in the middle of 7 wooded acres, transports you to a simpler time and place to enhance your getaway. Open-raftered ceilings, wide plank flooring and hand made decor, gives the Rivercane an historic mountain feel. This cabin is located just 1.1 mile from the John C Campbell Folkschool and a mere 1/2 mile off Brasstown Rd. It's cozy dead end location is very private without being remote. Nestled into a wooded hilltop setting (just above the valley floor with an altitude of 1820ft), you'll feel hidden from the world, while being able to gaze across a slice of Brasstown Valley from the front porch as well as from the living and dining rooms. Every room has a woodland view, ever-changing as the sun makes its daily trip and the seasons serve up an ever changing palette. The back porch, screened on three sides, projects into the forest as the ground gently slopes away, giving a real "treehouse feel" as you ponder the day ahead, the one just experienced or your place in the universe. It's the perfect home base to either recharge your batteries from your work-a-day world OR regroup your thoughts after a creative day at the Folkschool.

In addition to being a one of a kind magically appointed cabin, you will probably find that the Rivercane has the best weekly rate in the area, making it a popular choice for "Folkschoolers". In our attempt to maximize opportunities for "Folkschoolers", we have implemented a 5-7 day minimum stay, during the three season busy months. If however you see openings of less than a week (4-6 days) and want to book less than the minimum 5 required, please contact me to strategize. Our goal is to schedule weekend to weekend 7-8 days bookings, but if you see smaller openings we are open to shorter stays. We want to maximize opportunities for guests to experience our unique Rivercane Cabin.

To stay connected if you must, there is wi-fi and a smart TV (no cable), wi-fi or device ready, an equipped kitchen, all linens with washer & dryer. Both bedrooms (one queen, one full bed) are ground floor. The outdoor fire pit area has been recently revamped and, so as long as burn conditions are within safe margins, it is available for use. The fireplace allows you to bring that cozy fireside experience indoors in cooler weather.

To unplug if you wish, you never have to step off the property or out of the neighborhood, to see deer, turkey, fox, stars and moonlight. There are outdoor activities aplenty, with trails, rivers and lakes peppering the area. There are restaurants, art events and music in Murphy only 7 miles away. In this picturesque mountain town, you'll also find antique shops along with craft and specialty shops. There is also the Harrah's Casino, that is a few minutes east of downtown Murphy, West Tubing Company 4 1/2 miles away in Warne and The Crown of Brasstown (hilltop finer dining, in the heart of Brasstown). If you find yourself in a medical emergency, Murphy Medical Center, is only 4 miles away, in Peachtree.

Of course the biggest draw in our little Brasstown is the John C. Campbell Folkschool, founded in 1925, which offers over 750 classes a year in 19 studios. There are deer that visit at sunrise and sunset. We saw them every day. The cabin is filled with beautiful art of all kinds. Even the broom on the porch is an example of Appalachian Folk art. The books to browse are plentiful as are the amenities. Everything is high quality and carefully chosen to add to the feeling of being home while visiting. From organic shampoo, fluffy and plentiful towels and linens, hand sewn quilts and great mattresses to a fully stocked kitchen. There are even two types of coffee machines, filters and coffee. The owners are helpful and prompt if you need anything. Everything a guest might need has been considered in detail and provided. Getting to the cabin is a breeze. The road is very well maintained and the directions make it easy to find even if you arrive after sunset. Check in is simple as are the check- out tasks. The pictures can not convey the feeling of being welcomed. I rarely stay at the same place twice. This cabin is quickly becoming a regular choice for me. I cant wait to return to this special place. There are plates, silverware, glasses, coffee pot and coffee cups so you can prepare meals if you wish.

Cabin sits on 2.5 acres. Deck is very private. Neighbors roof tops are barely visible through the trees. Roads are paved except for last 300 ft to cabin. Top of the ridge, tall trees swaying in the breeze most days.

Cabin is equal distance to Murphy, Blue Ridge and Blairsville. Right in the heart of great trails to hike, white water rafting, great antique stores and Flea markets.

The kitchen is well equipped with most everything you would need to cook easy meals.

Stay in the Nantahala national forest as our cabin is a 5-star experience secluded with your own 2-acre park/campground where you can relax at a creekside picnic table or at the firepit. Peaceful with no nearby neighbors. As you sit on the front porch you will see deer, turkey, and all of the local wildlife. All of this privacy and only 5 minutes from downtown Murphy as well as the Harrah's Casino. You will have a paved circular driveway that will allow you to pull up to the front door and for motorcycles a garage to park in. The property is fully fenced if you are bringing your pet. We provide firewood for the fire pit.

Our cabin offers all of the modern conveniences (High-Speed Internet, Direct TV, and an outdoor grill) as well as a wood-burning fireplace in the main area. Our front outdoor porch is the perfect place for a barbeque and our outdoor deck offers prime wildlife viewing, a morning cup of coffee and a good book, or an evening glass of wine. Our full kitchen includes all modern appliances and fully stocked with everything needed for preparing meals. We have a queen master bedroom with an attached bathroom, a loft bedroom with two twins and a private bathroom, and a sleeper sofa in the living room.

It was actually what first caught my eye when we were looking for a cabin.) The cabin was clean and well stocked with everything you need. I love that the hosts, Eric and Zoe, live close by if you need them, but far enough that you can’t even see their home because of all the trees. You can’t see any other homes from the cabin either, so you feel completely secluded in the forest! However it’s close to town to go out to eat or site see surrounding areas. We didn’t even need to contact the hosts because we had no issues at all during our stay. They give you complete privacy and only messaged us once to let us know they are close if we have any issues. We enjoyed our family getaway! Also, we are a family of four, so having two full bathrooms is a plus, many cabins I looked at in my search only had one bathroom. We definitely hope to stay at this cabin again!"

Our spacious kitchen has brand new stainless steel appliances, a full size fridge, and all the pots and utensils needed to prepare your meals including a dishwasher to allow easy clean up and place settings for four. You will have everything you need to shop for the week and dine in.

- "From the moment we booked our trip with Eric and Zoe, it was nothing but amazing. They were very responsive at all times. First, let’s start with the location of the cabin: The cabin was nestled in the mountains with neighbors far enough away that you felt secluded, private and quiet. Less than a 10 minute drive and we were in town. It was very easy to get to the cabin. The check in process was very easy as was the check out process. When we arrived at the cabin, a bottle of wine awaited us and holiday music playing on the TV. The cabin was beautifully decorated for Christmas complete with two Christmas trees and stockings. The cabin is immaculately clean and smelled lovely. The cabin is very inviting and extremely cozy. The owners have thought of every little detail and have gone above to make the cabin feel like a very warm home. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable (we didn’t use the other beds downstairs). There were plenty of bathroom linens. Plenty of pillows and warm blankets throughout. We were fortunate to have snow a few days while we were there and therefore we were able to utilize the fireplace inside the cabin. It was so relaxing to sit by the fire. The porch was an extension of the indoors in that there were rocking chairs, pillows, a grill and a fire pit. It was so relaxing and we enjoyed watching the deer. The cabin is very spacious. I can not express enough how clean this cabin was and how clean it smelt. Eric and Zoe are very accommodating towards pets, and in fact, left our dogs, some treats, bowls, and a ball. They have a designated pet relief area, and this was a godsend for our two dogs. Our trip was nothing short of amazing. In fact, we have already booked another trip with them."

Secluded 48 acres in Murphy (about 16 minutes to downtown). Near: John C. Campbell Folk School (about 12 minutes away); Nantahala River (about 35 minutes away). Roam the property and swim in the spring-fed pond. If you are a camper or want to try "camping," then you will love "glamping" ("glamorous camping") at the chapel! A wood-fired sauna experience is available for an additional charge. (Read more about that below.)

My vision is that my property (which I've named "Kingdom Come") would be a place of rest, retreat, and enjoyment for others. I am going to build a few cabins for lodging, but my first major project was building a chapel, so that it would be the centerpiece and heartbeat: a place for reflection, meditation, and prayer.

I built the chapel myself (with my own hands, and the hands of a couple of friends). As I work on building the cabins, I have decided to use the chapel as a glamping site (better than using it as a "divine" storage building!).

My mother was an artist and when she died I ended up with a lot of her artwork. Some of her paintings now fill the chapel. They also fill the space, I hope, with her grace and love and creativity.

The chapel features beautiful timber frame construction. As to "glamping" . . . there is no running water/plumbing, but you'll have all the fresh water you need for showers, drinking, etc. Limited electricity for running the kitchen appliances.

No AC, of course, but the fan will keep it comfortable in warm weather. As to cold weather, the chapel has an electric heater that keeps it fairly comfortable in cold weather: not blazing hot, but comfortable; if it gets VERY cold, then the heater just takes the chill off.

Zinus Ultima Comfort Memory Foam 6 Inch mattresses are very comfortable! Using the outdoor solar/camp shower is wonderful. The privy is clean and well-ventilated.

Appliances: fan; toaster oven; microwave oven; coffee maker; and, small micro-fridge.

Lighting is provided by four rechargeable lanterns. Screens on the windows to keep the bugs at bay.

Outdoor deck with comfortable Adirondack chairs, fire pit, and Weber charcoal grill. There are generous firewood bundles available for you to purchase at the chapel, if you wish. Bring charcoal if you want to use the grill.

The play area offers opportunities limited only by your imagination. Sunbathing? Stargazing? Badminton and Bocce balls provided if you want to play!

WOOD-FIRED SAUNA

We also offer an experiential upgrade to your stay if you want to bask in a traditional Finnish wood-fired sauna complete with plunges into our cool pond between rounds. Please contact us and we will send you more details on the sauna rates. If you desire to book the sauna during your stay , we will light the fire and have it toasty hot for your sweat. We will gladly walk you through a traditional Finnish ritual and what to expect.

I'm a beekeeper and I'm happy to tell you about that, if we have the opportunity. Badminton equipment and Bocce balls provided if you want to play!

The MacGregor is our two bedroom cabin (queen-sized). As with all of our cabins, it is fully heated and air conditioned for your personal comfort.

This log cabin has wide-plank, wood floors, wood walls and ceilings. The wood-burning fireplace keeps things cozy and warm on those cool autumn evenings. We provide the firewood and starter. All you have to do is light the fire, we have the first one ready for you when you check in. And there's a queen-sized sofa-bed in the living room providing a third sleeping area if needed.

Please be aware that our base rate is for double occupancy. Any guests over two need to be added prior to your reservation request.

The inviting hot tub on the lower deck, accommodates up to five people, with a nice view of the surrounding forest, as well as the mountains in the distance. We also drain and clean the hot tub after every guest leaves. We only add a couple of 1" tabs of bromine (no other chemicals) to insure a pleasant guest experience. The living room has a Smart TV for watching Roku TV, Netflix, Hulu, etc. There is a Blu Ray player along with you own password secured high speed WIFI network. And remember our extensive collection of books that is also at your disposal.

Welcome to our Happy Hytte in the North Carolina mountains! In Norway, where we have family, cabins are called hyttes (pronounced like hit-uh). We named our cabin to reflect both our heritage & the cozy cabin vibes for which the folks in Norway are known. Ideally situated in the southwestern corner of the state, to our south we are a stones throw from the areas of Blairsville & Blue Ridge, Georgia. To the west we are a short drive to Tennessee & the Cherokee National Forrest. Your activities itinerary can be as full as you can handle!

We know that you want your trip to the mountains to be all about outdoor living, and we’ve got just the porch you’ve been searching for. Rock the day away on the front porch, relax on the side porch in the swing with a book, grill up dinner and eat inside or out, and then finish off the night around the campfire in our locally made Adirondack chairs or a soak in the hot tub. Our cabin is secluded without being isolated. You will lose cell coverage but our high speed internet will keep you connected! We have a lovely view of our community pond (where you can watch the deer come by for a drink as the sun sets), and a whole acre for the kids to run around. We even have a hiking trail that begins just at the end of our drive.

Couples and friends are welcome, of course! But, we are set up for the needs of families like ours, just in case. After years of traveling to the mountains with kids we know what families need! Our primary suite is just right, with a Casper mattress in a proper queen size bed and your own en suite bath. The kids have run of the bunk room with two bunks (four twin beds!) that we’ve decorated to make them feel adventurous and a hall bath they can share. We’ve even brought a pack n play in case you’ve got a really little one. The deck has gates at both ends so that your kids or your pups can have the run of the deck without being able to run off entirely. We have our own porch dawg, and are happy to welcome yours without charging a pet fee.

The kitchen is fully stocked, and not from 32 different yard sales! Cook, bake, or heat up leftovers from the pizzeria down the road (it’s pretty legit!) The road to the hytte is nicely paved, no gravel until you get to the driveway and no crazy hills to slide down while you try and find us in the dark. We even put up twinkle lights on the porch so you’ll know you’ve made it! Velkommen hjem!

My house isn't even that well stocked in spices, there are extra toothbrushes/paste just in case, makeup wipes and separate towels.. everything. All the good movies.. everything you might need while you're there is there. We had a perfect peaceful and lazy weekend. There was a wine bottle and glasses waiting for us and a different book on each of the bunk beds. We had our 4 year old with us and chose different bunk beds, and we slept in the kid's room while we were visiting. It really was perfect. Thank you for the wonderful little place to get away for the weekend!"

Let me be clear: This house is the bomb diggety! My Cabin is "artsy, crafts, cozy" with tasteful furnishings and personal touches throughout. It's perfect, it really is!
We feature a screened-in porch that is carpeted and feels like an extension of the living/dining area. The porch has killer views of Murphy, Tennessee and Georgia, a dining table for outside dining, 2 rockers and a lounge chair. I guarantee you, weather permitting, you'll spend all your time out there. Right below the porch is an open deck taking full advantage of the ever changing mountain views. It's glorious. The deck has a great swing, picnic table, lounge chair and gas grill. The cabin is perched on the side of a cliff and the cabin itself is not childproof, so we don't allow children here at the Retreat.
UNLESS of course, you'd like to cozy up on one of three recliners on the oversized couch to watch a movie on the flat screen TV with the Dish Network extended viewing package (America's Top 200 and HBO premium) or read a good book sitting next to the stone fireplace with a remote controlled gas burning insert.
The kitchen is a newly redesign kitchen and will make you feel right at home. We have a fully stocked kitchen with a Coffee maker, crock pot, toaster, blender, some spices, microwave, dishwasher and whatever else you may need. We supply dish soap, trash bags and other general supplies. There is a half bath and washer and dryer on the main floor as well.
On the second floor are two homey furnished bedrooms. The stairs are steep so if your not good on stairs, contact me as I have other options. The master bedroom has an super comfortable new king size bed, lots of closet and dresser space and a flat screen TV that's mounted near the ceiling for perfect "in bed TV viewing". The guest bedroom has a queen bed, a dresser and TRIGGER, my very cool rocking horse that I am in the process of re-finishing. Both bedrooms have great views from the large windows. The full bath is upstairs as well. It's small but super cute.
We have an iron and ironing board, blowdryer, central air and heat, plenty of towels and whole shebang.
Our location is fantastic. I'm not kidding. From the wildlife to the views, you will feel that you are miles from no-where, when in effect you’ll be only two miles from downtown, 4 miles from Wal-Mart and 7.5 miles from John Campbell Folk School. We're 5 miles from the new Harrah's Cherokee Casino, but again, you'll feel like your out in the woods on our very private and exclusive mountain. While there are about 10 homes on our mountain, there is no one directly on either side of the cabin so it's very private. At the "Retreat", being outdoors is where it's at.... All the windows, sliders, porch and deck face out toward the back so the view is of the mountain ranges.
I have spent 6 years fixing up the "Retreat" and I've put my heart and soul in it. It's one of my most favorite places in the world. I think it will be yours too. I am constantly making upgrades and more than 50% of my business is repeat guests. I personally think that's saying something!
Again: Remember there are stairs to get to the bedrooms so this is not a cabin for persons with limited mobility. The Retreat is PERFECT for two people. Four people are fine but it's a little tight
Again: Remember this isn't a cabin that is suitable for children (I'm sorry, I have two boys so it's not personal). No Pets Please.

It's an ideal way to relax and recharge in a cozy cabin.

The space
The entire 12' x 28' cabin, with its own driveway, provides a clean and peaceful environment for your getaway. The kitchenette with a mini refrigerator and freezer, microwave, two-burner stove, and coffee maker is well-equipped for your needs. Plus, having pots and pans, silverware, and dishes available makes cooking convenient. The added bonus of a charcoal barbecue grill for outdoor cooking is a nice touch, allowing you to enjoy some meals in the beautiful mountain setting.
Enjoy the firepit on the property for a cozy evening in the woods, but do be careful when walking there, its a short distance from the cabin in the woods. It's important to stay updated on any burn bans due to weather conditions in our area. we will notify you when we receive any notification. Stay safe. Never leave a fire and always ensure it is completely exdistinguished. Using a bucket of water is a good practice. Having a flashlight to navigate is also a good idea to prevent any accidents. we have one in the cabin for your convenience. Safety is our first priority when using the firepit.

As our guest, you will have full access to the entire cabin with a private driveway. There is a lockbox attached to the table on the front porch, which contains the key to the front door. Code is 1492

These house rules provide clear guidelines for a pleasant stay:

1. No smoking is allowed.

2. Pets are welcome but must be under 30 lbs., and there's a one- pet limit unless otherwise agreed upon.

3. Keep pets on a leash at all times and clean up after them for the courtesy of others. Remember you are in the woods so the possibility

4. Check-in time is 3 P.M. till 11 P.M. If something should happen, if you can let us know, it would be appreciated.

5. Check out time is 10 A.M.

6. Please put away dishes and dispose of garbage in the designated containers behind the main cabin when checking out.

7. Remember to turn off all lights, TV, and heating/ac before leaving.

8. No parties or events are allowed on the property

Come unwind at our peaceful mountain cabin, just 10 minutes from Murphy's charming downtown. Our cozy home offers the perfect mix of rustic appeal and modern comforts, surrounded by 6 acres of lush forest. Located near the Appalachian Trail, Nantahala Forest, and only minutes from Hiwassee Lake, this 2 bed/2 bath with extra loft is ideal for couples or small families eager to hike and explore. Read a book in the hammock, gather around the firepit, or relax in the hot tub gazing at the stars.

The space
The main house features a cozy living room with an electric fireplace, a queen bedroom, and a fully stocked kitchen. The bathroom includes double sinks, a bathtub, and a rainforest-style shower. Kids will love climbing up the ladder to the loft with a full-size mattress. Please note that the loft ceiling is very low (46 inches on the high end), making it ideal for kids to spend the night.

A separate, detached addition offers another bedroom with a full-size bed and armoire, plus a full bathroom with a shower. Enjoy the patio that connects the two buildings, complete with furniture for relaxation, a propane BBQ with a smoker, and a balcony overlooking the forest in the back of the house. For added comfort, there's an outdoor fireplace with grill top and chairs, a hammock and a hot tub to unwind under the stars.

Enjoy the convenience of a separate laundry room with a washer and dryer.

Built-in 2019 and located in old town Murphy, NC, in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, this charming cabin offers a calm relaxing ambience. This, while outdoor excursions abound for hiking and mountain biking, as well as fishing, canoeing/kayaking, and rafting, compliments of the waterways made possible by the Hiawassee and Valley Rivers. A short drive to the heart of historic downtown Murphy.

There’s something for everyone, while this comfy cabin sleeps 2 - 3 guests and offers all the conveniences of home, including a gas grill, 2 comfy rockers on the front porch, and an outdoor firepit.

Driveway/Parking- The road to the property is fairly steep but it is paved. While AWD/4WD is not necessary, putting your vehicle in low gear and maintaining speed up the mountainside will help. 2-3 cars of moderate size will fit in the driveway and allow for you to turn around in the driveway itself when you are ready to leave the cabin.
