- "I am obsessed with the property and the bus! My husband and I stayed for a night with our three toddlers while taking a night off from section hiking the AT. We all slept in the king bed in the back which was INSANELY comfortable. The hosts are a super sweet little family. Our laundry was done for a small fee very quickly. Communication with the hosts was excellent. They provided so much helpful information on local places to visit for after our hike. The communal glamping bathroom was the nicest bathroom I’ve ever seen at a campsite. A toilet is inside the bus only to be used during bad weather or at night for guest convenience. The property is green and gorgeous, has a little creek on it. There is a grill under a gazebo and the hosts provide propane at no additional cost. We were able to grill hot dogs. The kids LOVED the bus. Also the main house where you check in is STOCKED with little snacks, ice cream, food you can heat up, and other little conveniences available for purchase. All the other structures on the property are adorable! For us the only potential issue was that the door locks on the inside, but unlocks easily with turning the knob. Totally fine if you have older kids or adults. If you have crazy toddlers there’s a potential escape hazard there. But we just barricaded the way out with our bags so it was fine. I would stay there every night if we could! I hope we get to stay again. "

Trout Creek Retreat is a beautiful, luxurious home in a family neighborhood located in the Great Smoky Mountains. This property is located on the Oconaluftee River 1/4 of a mile up the subdivision mountain from Highway 19.

This cabin is entered through the living room which offers an open floor plan complete with kitchen, living room, and dining room. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, pots, pans, utensils and cookware to use during your stay. Also in the kitchen is a large closet to store pantry items and where the washer and dryer is located. Three high top chairs are located at the bar area in the kitchen and the dining room has seating for four. The living room has a gas fireplace, 55" mounted TV, 2 swivel chairs, and a sofa lounger which lowers to offer additional sleeping accommodations for 2 guests. The 2 bedrooms are on opposites sides of the home which offer privacy.

At the end of the hallway on each side of the home is where the 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms are located. Each bedroom offers a queen bed, mounted 43" TV, and large closet space. Adjacent to each bedroom is a full bath.

Just outside the kitchen through the sliding glass door is the large covered porch overlooking the Oconaluftee River. There are rocking chairs and tables for you and your guests to enjoy the scenery as well as your morning coffee or a beverage in the evenings. Enjoy the beauty of the Smoky Mountains from this 2019 constructed one bedroom, 3-bathroom open concept log cabin. With 2 gas fireplaces, wrap around porch, and panoramic long range mountain views, you can revel in the great outdoors without stepping outside. There are no steps to climb for easy access and unloading! You’ll be just 25 minutes from Bryson City, so you can enjoy both peace and quiet and proximity to the attractions of town.

The log cabin is at 4,000 feet elevation in a private gated community. You will appreciate the casual charm of the cabin’s large interior with tongue-in-groove walls and ceiling with beams and engineered hardwood flooring throughout except the three bathrooms which are tiled.

Upstairs there are two flat screen HDTV's with YouTube TV. The living room is a 65" Smart TV with access to Netflix, Apple TV, Prime Video and YouTube. Limited cell coverage on the drive-up the mountain but we have WIFI and our Verizon cell phones normally work well at the cabin. There is a WIFI landline and phone in cabin for emergency service.

Downstairs there is another flat screen HDTV, 14-foot shuffleboard table, dart board, wall hanging connect four and many games and puzzles with a game table. Also, a coffee/wine bar and another full bathroom with custom walk-in tile shower and granite countertop. There are also 2 bedrooms that will be locked.

No refunds for bad weather, however, we will credit you for a future stay if possible. The address cannot be found on GPS. The driving app WAZE, will direct you to our road within the community.

Bryson City, Nantahala Outdoor Center, Fontana Lake, Harrah's Casino, Cherokee, Nantahala River Gorge (white water rafting), Tsali Biking, Fontana Lake, and an entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway/Smoky Mountains are all a quick scenic drive away. The Bryson City area is home to wonderful restaurants, breweries, the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad, hiking, zip-lining, trout fishing, and canoeing. Maggie Valley is close for snow skiing. Many local small towns offer shopping and dining as well.

Enjoy a comforting meal at the historic Fryemont Inn (ask for Sarge at the bar) or Everett Street Diner, go for a margarita and Mexican favorites at Guayabitos Restaurant, or get a taste of the local craft beer at Mountain Layers Brewery, one of our favorite stops.

There’s no shortage of activities in the Great Smoky Mountains. Make the quick trip up to Deep Creek to hike up to a waterfall or set up shop by a fishing stream, while mountain bikers take advantage of the nearby trails. Also enjoy many hiking trails in the area, rafting, trout fishing, tubing, zip lines, Clingman’s Dome and other attractions. The Casino and Golf Course in Cherokee is only 50 minutes from the cabin. Only 1 hour to Asheville and nice drive to Gatlinburg.

Before you pack up and head to the mountains, know that when we say mountains, we really mean it!
Dillsboro NC elevation starts at 1,975 feet. Think of this as your starting point. If you want to get a beautiful mountain view, you've gotta climb some mountains. Mountain roads are typically gravel, steeper, narrower and curvier than you may be use to driving. This is all part of our charm.
We do have one big hill to get up. It is gravel. We regularly drive a Hyundai Sonata up. While AWD vehicles make everything easier they are not required. Turn off traction control, Maintain an even speed (10mph) going up and do not stop. You should have no issues.

The mountain views are open and unobstructed. Smoky Mountain views will greet you each morning. Our cabin looks out over the beautiful Sheepback Mountain. The sound of Jonathan creek can be heard as it cascades through the valley below.
The front deck provides beautiful views and a great place to enjoy cool mornings. We have a safety gate on our front deck that allows the deck to be fully closed in, great for kids or pets. We also have a picnic table and a lighted area out front for our guests with rockers that is especially nice evenings. ( There is a switch inside the cabin that controls the lamp post lighting. It is nice to have light when you return to the cabin after a day of adventures or for late evening star gazing.
The stars glow brighter in these dark mountain skies.
Elk often meander up from the valley below, coming right up to our front deck or our picnic area. We love our 4 legged friends and our guests enjoy them too.

There are many small towns within a short distance, including Biltmore and exploring Asheville.

☆ A Kalideoscope of color greets you each morning as color spills out over Sheepback Mountain. Elk often meander right up to the front deck. We love watching these Magnificent animals that have been reintroduced to these hills and valleys. We occasionally see fox, groundhogs, chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits and lots of birds, including an occasional eagle.

There is a hill out front for building snowmen and sleds. The chalet is warm and cozy, well insulated, gas heat. The chalet offers a Relaxing place to Rest and Relax if you prefer spending time tucked away in a mountain retreat, letting the day slip away.
We have Fast, Dependable Wifi. Smart TVs. Cable and lots of Apps.
The chalet is also a great home base for those who are adventure bound.
There is a gently sloping hill out front where kids can sled in the Winter when we have fresh snow fall.
Other times parents enjoy having somewhere for children to play within eye sight of parents. Everyone, all ages, enjoy the deck and everyone enjoys the rockers and picnic table out front. The short drive to Restaurants, gas, shops and the Parkway is convenient.
We are close enough to the shops in Maggie to be convenient but far enough away to enjoy open mountain views.
Safety is important and we feel we are in a safe location.

It is all topped off with Oronoko Granite from Brazil.

Newly updated bathroom with new washer and dryer, all tile with heated floors and 2 person MTI Jacuzzi!

In the living area you will enjoy the beauty and warmth of a wood burning stove, large screen TV, DVD player and 100s of movies to choose from. Brazilian Teak graces the floors for a beautiful warm feeling. Sit and Enjoy the "G" Scale train as it runs around the cabin and even through the walls.

A note about pricing: VRBO keeps saying I should raise my rates, especially during peak seasons, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, e.t.c.
It has always irritated me that hotels e.t.c. do that. So if I want to enjoy my family during the holidays, I have to pay a premium???

I'm sorry, I think that's just wrong, so why would I do that to my guest? Prices are the same EVERY DAY of the year. If you want a holiday, summer dates, e.t.c. just book early before someone else does, and enjoy your family at the regular prices.

COVID UPDATE: We are actively taking precautions to ensure the maximum safety for all of our guests. These steps include: replacing all blankets/quilts at the house with light weight blankets that are washed and bagged separately between each guest. This hand-built log cabin has lots of rustic character! While it is a bit rough around the edges, we renovated it in the summer of 2020.. This little place was home for us and our 3 small boys for a whole year, and what a neat year it was! (You'll probably see evidence of them around the cabin!)

There is a small branch that runs next to the cabin when we've had a lot of rain, and a creek right across the street that you can hear from the front porch most of the time!

There is a queen-on-queen bunk bed in the downstairs room, and one queen bed in the loft. (The loft stairs are a bit steep and narrow, so just be aware of that.)

The bathroom is downstairs and has a full size washer & dryer.

We have a great outdoor space, with a brick patio, picnic table, hammock, and Fire pit with marshmallow roasting sticks available! (There's also a small charcoal grill )

Equipped with a mini-split AC/heat system (one upstairs and one downstairs). There's also a working wood stove if needed in the winter time (wood is provided) Extra space heaters will be provided in the winter if needed.

There is one TV in the main living space with a DVD player and some kids DVDs. Cable and streaming are not provided. You're welcome to bring your own roku or fire stick to plug in and connect to the wifi!

There is limited cell service at the cabin, but the cable wi-fi is fast. Make sure you navigate to the cabin soon after turning onto Alarka Rd.!

The space
The Bear Den is the perfect spot for those looking for an affordable mountain vacation, but located right in the hub of what draws visitors to Bryson City ever year.  This lovely cabin is located in Big Bear's RV Park, which is in the Deep Creek Valley area of Bryson City.  Less than a two minute drive is the Deep Creek entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, which is known for it's easy hiking trails, waterfalls, fishing spots, picnicking, and tubing.  While the area is most well known for the park entrance, the community boasts beautiful rolling hills, mountain views, creek access right on the property, all with easy, flat access.  Downtown Bryson City is less than 5 minute drive, so it's also a great place to make your base camp if you're wanting to ride the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad for the Polar Express or scenic tours, enjoy the local craft breweries, local restaurants or food trucks, or simply exploring the town.

The Bear Den features two bedrooms and 1.5 baths.  It has an awesome covered front porch area, which is the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee while enjoying your view of the Smokies.  It also has several yard games, including cornhole boards, a gas grill, and several seating areas.  Inside, you'll find a full kitchen for those who decide to "stay home" for dinner, a sectional for seating, SMART tv with streaming capabilities - youtube TV provided, bedroom with queen bed, bedroom with full bed, bath with walk-in shower, and half bath with full laundry.

Escape to our charming cabin nestled alongside a tranquil creek, where nature and relaxation await. Surrounded by lush greenery, this peacful getaway is perfect for unwinding and reconnecting with the outdoors. Whether sitting by the fire, listening to the babbling creek, throwing some rocks, watching some farm animals or reading a book, we hope the time you spend here leaves a lasting memory. We falled in love with this cabin the first time we saw it. Now, we want to share it with you.

The space
Our cabin features a comfortable living area, open and fully equipped kitchen. The high ceiling and many windows provide natural light and open airy environment. There are 2 cozy bedrooms with 2 seperate bathrooms on 2 different levels will give you comnfort and privacy at the same time. Enjoy your morning coffee on the front deck, listen to the gentle sound of water flowing, and soak in the serene atmosphere. There is also a BBQ area in the backyard for your outdoor gathering. In addition, the onsite chicken coup will give you fresh egg every morning.

Right next door is our Country House By the Creek with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, also available for rent if you have a bigger group. Stay close to family but still have your privacy.

Other things to note
Please keep food inside to avoid attracting wild animals.
If you bring pet, please let us know. There’s a small $50 additional pet cleaning fee. Fail to notice the host about bringing pet will result in extra penalty up to $300.
Strict non smoking house rule. Please do not smoke inside the house. Violation of this rule will result from $100-$500 penalty depends on the damage.
