Great romantic setting for couples!
Our adorable log cabin is a 1 bedroom loft with a queen size bed and a full bath. It is 930 square feet of coziness, constructed of large logs which makes it very unique. Wake up and gaze out at the lake without getting out of bed or better yet, have breakfast in bed, it has a great view from the loft. Enjoy spending days around the cabin, we have fishing (catch and release only), two kayaks and one canoe for lazy trips around the lake. Go swimming right outside your front door to cool down. Bring your dog, there is a large fenced in back yard for hours of play time. Cook on our charcoal grill (charcoal included) and enjoy a great meal at the picnic table or on our large front porch. If you enjoy walking, walk on the many miles of roads on Line Runner Ridge, take a hike in the woods or around the lake. After a long day at the cabin, enjoy the fire pit in the back yard fixing smore's or grab a drink and take a relaxing bath in our old fashion claw foot bath tub with tee light candles. Play some good old fashion board games or just kick back and watch TV. The living room has an electric “old fashion stove” to set the mood. Our unique kitchen is filled with everything you need, from cooking a gourmet meal or just hot dogs, it comes complete with a gas stove and oven, microwave convection oven, coffee maker, coffee, tea pot with soothing tea, toaster oven and a dishwasher.

Want to venture out to sight see? There are so many quaint shops in Brevard, which are only 30 minutes away. Visit the many restaurants and shops in our area. The property sits on forty seven acres, most of which has been purposely left undisturbed, ensuring space for local wildlife and privacy for the farm. The cabin's large picture windows frame meticulously maintained pastures bordered by streams and springs that flow into a pond located directly in front of the cabin. The covered porch overlooks a waterfall that is beautiful to look at and soothing to hear, especially as one drifts off to sleep. Come morning, enjoy a cup of coffee while watching the horses graze and the ducks dabble for their breakfast on the pond. Guests are welcome to walk the property and meet the horses.

The cabin has an open floor plan for the kitchen, dining, and living room area. This design feature takes full advantage of the floor-to-ceiling windows to offer unrestricted views and a feeling of connection with the land and life that surround the cabin. The living room is tastefully furnished with a couch and two armchairs. For entertainment, there is a flat screen television, a DVD player, and unlimited internet via fiber optic for streaming TV or surfing the web.

The master suite downstairs has a king size bed, walk in closet, and private bath. The soothing sound of the water is particularly nice in this bedroom. Upstairs is a roomy loft area with another full bath, a queen bed as well as two single beds. One of the single beds can be collapsed and moved out of the way if not needed. The cabin is air conditioned and separate temperature controls in the master bedroom, loft, and great room ensure maximum comfort during the summer months.

The Kitchen is equipped with a microwave, electric range, refrigerator with an ice maker, dishwasher, blender, and coffee maker. There is also a stacked washer and dryer unit. Additionally there is a barbecue grill and outside dining area located behind the cabin in its private yard. Access to the property is private, entry is via an electric gate. Guests are assigned a unique entry code prior to their arrival.

Located just off of Hwy 64, we are convenient to Cashiers, Sapphire, Lake Toxaway, and Highlands to the West, Brevard and Hendersonville to the East, Asheville to the north, and the upstate of South Carolina to the South. All of these locations have a lot to offer from great restaurants to great antiquing. The major hubs of Atlanta to the south and Charlotte to the east are both only 2 1/2 hours drive away.

Transylvania county is the land of waterfalls and hiking, biking, cycling, and sightseeing destinations are literally only minutes away. For hikers and mountain bikers, Jocassee State Park is only 2.3 miles down the road and for cyclists there are miles of bike routes all through Transylvania county. Should fly fishing, tubing, or kayaking interest you, both the Davidson river and the French Broad Rivers are just minutes away. For the horse enthusiast, there are several stables in the area that offer trail rides, but reservations are a must. We are also close to DuPont State Forest, Pisgah State Forest, and Caesars Head State Park. The Biltmore Estate with its winery, grounds, and gardens in Asheville is only 35 miles north.

Because of the numerous water features and four legged animals already on the property, we are unable to accommodate pets or small children. But if you are looking for a place geared towards the adult traveler, Falling Water Farm is for you.

The treehouse has a spacious outdoor living area with a hot tub, fire pit, picnic table, grill, tent pad, upstairs deck, and downstairs huge covered porch, all with an amazing view of the Blue Ridge mountains. Our treehouse is "studio style" and includes a kitchen with all new stainless appliances, full bathroom with tiled shower, sleeper sofa with a full bed, and a sleeping loft with new full and twin size mattresses. Both mattresses are in the sleeping loft and a ladder is required to get to loft. Alternatively, there is a full sleeper sofa on the main level and a memory foam pad available for additional comfort and support.

There is no WiFi available, but cell service should be good. Our guests have not had an issue with cell service so far.

Property is near Rosman and Brevard, NC with access to nearby hiking and mountain biking trails, waterfalls, fly fishing, kayaking, tubing, breweries, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are several public access points to the North Fork Broad River along the main road up to the treehouse. Our property is located in Transylvania County, known as the Land of Waterfalls, with over 200 waterfalls in the county. There are more than 25 trails with over 600 miles of biking and hiking within the surrounding forests.

Chestnut Haven is situated on 2.5 acres, very secluded and peaceful. Vaulted ceilings with 100 year old wormy chestnut wood, hefty hammer beams and a gas log fireplace with stonework to the ceiling. We have a large beech tree securing the staircase with rustic mountain laurel twigs. The kitchen is fully equipped with all appliances, dishes utensils, etc and granite counter tops. Bedrooms are comfortable with cotton sheets, and soft quilts and comforters. Thirsty cotton bath towels are in each bathroom. If we've forgotten anything, please let us know. Your comfort and enjoyment is our #1 priority.

This unique property is surrounded by the Pisgah National Forest and close to Dupont State Forest, Nantahala National Forest, and Gorges State Park. Plan to hike to waterfalls, fly fish, kayak, tube, and visit local breweries, or just decompress, relax, and enjoy the spectacular mountain views! AWD and 4x4 is not required to access the property, however, the 1 mile drive off the highway is a bumpy gravel drive so drive slow and low ground clearance is not recommended.

There is a smart lock to enter the cabin. It changes after each guest and you will be given your unique code at the time of booking. Parking is right beside the cabin.

Starter supplies of paper products and other supplies are provided. For recurring needs, Walmart is less than a mile away!

The Dell is a 468 sq ft cabin with 1 bedroom, 1 bath and a fully equipped kitchen, with a brand new deck on the front. We called this cabin home for 12 years and now, after upgrading the kitchen and bath, our guests have been enjoying its charms, too.

We are located at 11612 East Fork Road, Brevard, NC, 28712, on a 19-acre peninsula of land between the East Fork and the French Broad Rivers. Their confluence is Mile Marker Zero for the French Broad, said to be the third oldest river in the world....not surprising since The Appalachians are the oldest mountains in the world! Both rivers offer excellent trout fishing and the French Broad Invites canoers, kayakers and tubers.

Transylvania County, NC, is known as The Land of Waterfalls with over 200 named falls, dozens of which are relatively easy to hike to. Pisgah National Forest features the Ranger and Visitor's Center, the Trout Hatchery, Looking Glass Falls, Sliding Rock and The Cradle of Forestry. All this is on the road that leads up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and all of its amazing views and attractions like the Devil's Courthouse, the Pisgah Inn Restaurant and Graveyard Fields. Nearby Dupont State Forest is headlined by Triple Falls and nearby Hooker Falls.

Brevard is a delightful mountain town that boasts lots of art galleries, good restaurants and a world class toy store, O.P. Taylor's. The music scene in Brevard is amazing. The Brevard Music Center hosts both their summer music camp and Mountain Song Festival, drawing students, talent and fans from all over the world. Lots of local breweries!

Asheville is home to America's castle, Biltmore House with its marvelous gardens, winery and history. Nearby Hendersonville has a nice downtown, an amazing antiques mall named Needful Things and NC's #1 rated Elijah Mountain Gem Mine.

Transylvania County is full of fun things to do, but we find that many of our guests spend most of their time enjoying the magic and peace we have right here. Come visit and find your happy place!

IMAGINE A WEEK in a brand new park model log cabin on a private, forested mountaintop 'twixt two rivers, with the Pisgah National Forest and its waterfalls at your doorstep. Enjoy fully equipped kitchen, master bedroom, sleeping half-loft for the kids or a second couple, screened porch, gas fire pit, gas grill and almost complete privacy. Up to six people can come if you rent both our cabins. The Dell is nearby with one bedroom. This will make an excellent getaway or a perfect home base for hikers, bikers or fishermen. THE HISTORY OF THE TWO RIVERS
The Appalachian Mountains are the oldest mountains in the world. For millenia, our Forkfield Mountain has stoically stood its ground shaping the junction of the French Broad and East Fork Rivers. Their confluence is Mile Marker Zero and the beginning of the world's third oldest river, the French Broad. A short walk upstream in the French Broad brings you to the Estatoe Crossing, used by the Cherokee on their path between villages in North Carolina and nearby in South Carolina. You can literally stand on history and envision a bygone era.

THE MOUNTAINTOP
The cabin is a park model Lancaster Log Cabin built in the Pennsylvania Amish country. Cozy yet spacious, this cabin provides some unique private areas: the kids' half-loft, the screened porch, and a nice reading nook adjacent to the master bedroom. The log cabin is decorated with a collection of original art, many from artists from the Asheville and Brevard area. On your private mountaintop, your outdoor space includes a gas grill, picnic table and a seating area with a gas fire pit.

Your stay also includes a river beach. Pull up a chair in the river and cool your feet as you read or just enjoy the sun. There is excellent fishing in season, river wading and exploring, too!

Our county, Transylvania (meaning across the woods) is an amazing outdoor playground. From our 250+ waterfalls, to our pristine trout waters, to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Pisgah National Forest to our diverse community of artists and craftsmen, the Brevard area does not disappoint.
The nearby Pisgah National Forest offers endless miles of varied hiking trails and such attractions as the State Trout Hatchery, Looking Glass Falls (among many others), the Cradle of Forestry, the Pink Beds, Pisgah Stables for horse trail rides, the Devil's Courthouse and everyone's favorite, Sliding Rock.
Dupont State Forest is less than 30 minutes away. Here, Triple Falls is the headliner. It's an impressive sight, a wonderful picnic spot and just upstream from Hooker Falls, a popular swimming spot where you can swim right up to the base of the falls!
Five miles from Forkfield there is access to over 30 miles of off-roading trails in the Jocassee Gorges Wilderness Preserve.
Brevard offers a charming mountain town atmosphere and boasts a world class toy store (not kidding!), art galleries, local artisans and a nice array of restaurant options from brick oven pizza and pasta to fine dining, two bakeries and a chocolatier! Don't forget to visit and sample our many local craft breweries like Ecusta and Brevard Brewing Company plus Oskar Blues and Sierra Nevada. And keep your eyes out for our famous White Squirrels - they're all over town!

Bring your ATV!
You are welcome to bring your side-by-side for your vacation. On the property we use ours all the time to run up and down the mountain, around in the field and through the East Fork River to get to our car. There are also nearby trails that are ATV friendly at certain times of the year.

Word to the wise...do your 🛒 BEFORE checking in as we are 17 miles from the town of Brevard! We are an hour from the Pretty Place Chapel. We are 80 minutes from Asheville and only 15 minutes from the Frozen Creek entrance to Gorges State Park.

Fern Hill Cabin offers two bedrooms and one bath along with a large screened porch to hang out or dine in. The front deck spans the length of the cabin providing additional access from the front bedroom. The back deck enjoys views of the woods while spending time with family or friends while grilling out.

- "Our family had a very nice stay in Cedar Mountain at the Fern Hill Cabin. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. The location was very convenient for getting into Dupont Forest and Brevard and the small community of Cedar Mountain was nice as well. One thing I wished I had realized is that it doesn't have central air. This isn't a complaint because it was probably just an oversight on my part but after a day of mountain biking in August in NC I really would have liked some AC! There are plenty of ceiling fans though and they mostly did the trick."

The space
Our cabin was built in the late 1800's. It has been completely rebuilt and is now up to current building codes. We have kept as many of the original features as possible, such as the moss-covered bark siding in the front and the rustic mosaic on the (nonworking) fireplace.

Entering the cabin through the front porch, you will find a family room/dining area with kitchenette, which as a microwave, small fridge/freezer, toaster oven, toaster, coffee machine, electric teapot and two-burner portable cooktop.

Next, there is a laundry area and a fully renovated bathroom.

The back room has a comfy sectional sofa that converts into a full size bed, as well as closet space, French doors overlooking a small deck, and a large screen TV equipped with Apple TV.

The large room upstairs has a queen bed and a twin bed, as well as a desk and a large picture window looking out over our beautiful property. Caution: The steps are STEEP, we do not recommend this for small children and anyone with mobility issues.

We are VERY dog friendly and welcome up to 2 well behaved pups. We have dog hosts and sometimes foster other dogs so if you have issues with dogs this is not the place to be! If you intend to bring more than 2 dogs please communicate with us beforehand to discuss.

Internet service is fiber optic with Starlink as backup and we have a Verizon 4G LTE Extender so we have excellent Verizon cell phone service.

We have a 40 AMP 220V External Connection 14-50R & 14-30R connectors for your EV or RV plus Sewer & Water connections for your RV. Bring your own portable Electric Vehicle charger and you can use this cabin as your home base. For RVs' small vehicles only (Class B, C, Travel Trailers or Pop-Ups) as our roads are 10 feet wide, curvy & very hilly! We live in an HOA that disallows sleeping in RVs' so please note that you may park your RV but NOT sleep in it.

NOTE: We do NOT provide the EV charging connector, only the 220V Outlet. Bring your own Charging Cable!

This cabin is a great basecamp for heading to Pisgah and Dupont. Located within a mile of downtown, yet you feel like you are out in the country. There are beautiful mountain and pasture views from the back porch. There is a house on one side of the cabin, but a fence in between for privacy. THE HISTORY OF THE TWO RIVERS

The Appalachian Mountains are amongst the oldest mountains in the world. For millenia, Forkfield Mountain has stoically stood its ground shaping the junction of the French Broad and East Fork Rivers. Their confluence is Mile Marker Zero and the beginning of the world's third oldest river, the French Broad. A short walk upstream in the French Broad brings you to the Estatoe Crossing, used by the Cherokee on their path between villages in North Carolina and nearby in South Carolina. You can literally stand on history and envision a bygone era.

THE DELL

The Dell cabin was built in the summer of 2004 and has been re-modeled with refinished floors, new kitchen cabinets and counters, and an upgraded shower and toilet. And this past summer we replaced the old deck with a brand new one. It is located 160 feet from our house through a small patch of woods.

The Dell sits in a forested dell on Forkfield Mountain, surrounded by Mountain Laurel and Rhododendrons under the canopy of a mature forest. Its shaded location helps keep it cool and though air conditioning is available, it is seldom needed. The cool mountain nights invite open windows and doors!

The cabin itself is a great couple's hideaway. Its 468 square feet are carefully divided between a fully equipped kitchen, living room, 3-pieced bath, and a bedroom with queen bed. It is decorated in a theme that honors the strong Cherokee history in this area with its beautiful nearby mountains and waterfalls. A 22-foot deck across the front of the cabin offers the opportunity for outdoor dining or just relaxing in the shade.

On site we offer a number of amenities. Fishing is wonderful in our two rivers. We have an easily accessible picnic site and fire ring right by the river so a relaxing afternoon.

The Faerie Trail starts between The Dell and our house. It's a short but steep downhill hike from the cabin and leads to a road that takes you down to the field and the river. (You might see our treehouse perched over the river, but unfortunately the years have rendered the handrail unsafe, so access is restricted right now.

Your stay also includes a river beach. Pull up a chair in the river and cool your feet as you read or just enjoy the sun. River wading and exploring are popular pass-times, too!


WELCOME TO THE LAND OF WATERFALLS

Our county, Transylvania (meaning across the woods) is an amazing outdoor playground. From our 250+ waterfalls, to our pristine trout waters, to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Pisgah National Forest to our diverse community of artists and craftsmen, the Brevard area does not disappoint.

The nearby Pisgah National Forest offers endless miles of varied hiking trails and such attractions as the State Trout Hatchery, Looking Glass Falls (among many others), the Cradle of Forestry, the Pink Beds, Pisgah Stables for horse trail rides, the Devil's Courthouse and everyone's favorite, Sliding Rock.

Dupont State Forest is less than 30 minutes away. Here, Triple Falls is the headliner. It's an impressive sight, a wonderful picnic spot and just upstream from Hooker Falls, a popular swimming spot where you can swim right up to the base of the falls!

Five miles from Forkfield there is access to over 30 miles of off roading trails in the Jocassee Gorges Wilderness Preserve.

Brevard offers a charming mountain town atmosphere and boasts a world class toy store (not kidding!), art galleries, local artisans and a nice array of restaurant options from brick oven pizza and pasta to fine dining, two bakeries and a chocolatier! Don't forget to visit and sample our many local craft breweries like Ecusta and Brevard Brewing Company plus Oskar Blues and Sierra Nevada. And keep your eyes out for our famous White Squirrels - they're all over town!

With fishing, hiking, biking, off roading, waterfalls and the Pisgah National Forest, Forkfield makes a great base for your mountain vacation get-away.

Bring your ATV!
You are welcome to bring your side-by-side for your vacation. On the property we use ours all the time to run up and down the mountain, around in the field and through the East Fork River to get to our car. There are also nearby trails that are ATV friendly at certain times of the year. (See Top 10 Things To Do)

The space
Spring Water Cabin has been a well received vacation rental with many many happy clients since 2013. March 2018 we moved over to Air BnB. Guests of all ages have come to Spring Water Cabin to enjoy the NC Mountains.

Spring Water Cabin is cozy, comfortable and very clean. Our housekeeping team prides themselves in using only plant based products made and scented with essential oils, like geranium, lavender verbena, lemon and ginger. At Spring Water Cabin we believe in the benefits of all natural products, that the products are cruelty free, pet and human friendly and that we are in turn kind to the planet. We reduce, reuse and recycle in efforts to minimize our waste in landfills. Our cleaning team does a beautiful job, every time.

Pets are not typically allowed, but in rare occasions have been approved. A non refundable Pet Fee of $150 will be required prior to arrival if the pet is approved.

The house is yours to enjoy. The basement is not included in the rental. The home sit on 2 acres of old forest pine trees and rhododendron with migrating songbirds from all over the world passing through. Surrounding neighbors are friendly and helpful. Many of our guests are repeat, not just because Lake Hondah is so nice and conveniently located to the sweet little town of Brevard, or that DuPont and Pisgah Forest are minutes away, but also because Asheville, Hendersonville and Greenville are just a short drive away. There is so much to do!

Spring Water Cabin is located in Lake Hondah. It is a lovely area, surrounded by pine trees and rhododendron. Great place for walking, jogging and biking. Neighbors are friendly and helpful.

Take it easy at the Happy Acres hideaway, enjoy the cozy cabin originally constructed in 1940 although completely remodeled as a farm/industrial style Tiny home with a big feel. The home has one loft bedroom with a queen bed overlooking the comfy living room space with a sofa bed and a wood heater to relax by on those cool winter nights. The bathroom is finished in a rustic style with a fully modern subway tile shower with glass door and rain head with a handheld sprayer as well.

Wake up to a breath taking serenity amidst the trees. Hike any of the nearby trails along the many forests and parks around the area or drive a few miles up to the blue ridge parkway. Located under an hour of downtown Asheville, this cabin puts you moments away from hiking, fishing, kayaking, biking, horseback riding and waterfall exploration. You’ll also be 20 minutes away from downtown Brevard, where you can find grocery stores, restaurants, breweries and entertainment options.

The cabin has a comfortable queen size bed (plus inflatable queen mattress if needed for the kids), a propane 2 burner cook stove, and a solar generator to turn on lights and charge cell phones. There is an outdoor shower overlooking the forest, it’s simply magical (1. You can take a refreshing cold shower, 2. You can heat water and use the electrical water pump provided to take a warm shower). Steps from the cabin is a very clean porta potty that is serviced bi-weekly. As well as a stone fire pit, with as much firewood as we can provide without damaging this wonderful ecosystem we live in. Please keep it covered with the tarp in case of rain.

Inside the cabin you’ll find a cooler to store your perishables (bring your own ice), cookware, a coffee press, greca, a tea pot, dishes, bowls and stainless steel pan and pots. We provide 5 gallons of spring water that you can refill at the grocery store.

We are animal lovers and know how hard it can be to include them while traveling and vacationing. Well behaved and potty trained dogs - of any size and breed - can definitely join.

The Spotted Rock Cabin is a perfect, secluded, mountain cabin that has been enjoyed by hundreds of visitors, summer or winter.

With a hot tub, AC and a wonderful wood fired stove your internet connected cabin (400MB!) is a place to reconnect or to relax in isolation.

When you arrive, your blood pressure drops and you will be awed by the sunsets and sunrises!

Our charming red cabin is a two bedroom, one bath cabin built high up on a mountain ridge with winter views extending far off towards the Smoky Blue Mountains and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Facing west, watch the sun set from the deck while relaxing in our rocking chairs with a cocktail.

At three thousand feet, get away from the summer heat, enjoy our rustic wood stove fireplace in the evenings and hike through the hundreds of acres of surrounding forest, and through our own 60 acres of solitude.

You can reach the cabin in your regular car, and when 'home', the shack with its two compulsory mounted deer heads looking over the living room will feel like your place for rest and relaxation.

Don't look for the granite, you wont find it, but do bring your laptops as there is high speed internet available all ready for your office away from home and netflix for bumming it on a lazy day.

Feel your blood pressure fall as you drive up to the top of our ridge, passing through the security gate to reach this exclusive mountain top where you can rest easy knowing you are in the coziest cabin here.

You cannot see your neighbors, they are a good long walk away. Perfect for strolls, and seeing the deer that roam around.

See the Area
Shop for antiques or groceries in Brevard NC which is 20 minutes away. Dine at the pleasant Red Lion Inn, at the bottom of the mountain (1 mile from the cabin).

Fish at our local lake or paddle in our canoe, which is within a mile or if you like hiking through the woods, straight down the mountain.

Go on Day-Trips
The Transylvania county / Asheville area is called the 'Land of Waterfalls' for good reason. Visit one of the five state parks that surround the cabin, drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway, in about thirty minutes, dine at the fabulous Pisgah Inn restaurant (58 min from your cabin) overlooking the entire area.

Visit the Biltmore House (1hr 19min from the cabin) for a day of seeing how you will never live. Go to the Asheville Farmers Market (1hr 5min) and pick up jams, honey, dried fruit and all manner of fresh produce...so you can be healthy.

Go kayaking or tubing with the Headwaters Outfitters (9 minutes from the cabin, near Rosman) down the French Broad or Davidson Rivers....

Use our 4.5 inch telescope to show your family the planets in our clear, starry sky after you downloaded a sky app to your smart phone.

Visit Asheville (1 hour) and dine at the Mellow Mushroom in downtown, knowing you can escape back to your cabin when the artists wake up.

Slide down the rocks at Sliding Rock (30 min from our Brevard Cabin), go to Pisgah National Forest, Hike in The Great Smoky Mountains National Forest, Go fishing in the Nantahala National Forest, pick-nick in the Table Rock State Park, drive through the Ceasars Head State Park or view deer in the Chattahoochee National forest.

If scenic drives is your thing, Route 64 passes right by, and is one of America's most scenic highways with a car-stopping waterfall or view about every .02 miles. Outfit your whole family with neck braces before you go ... you will be breaking so often.

Hang out on a rainy day in the cabin, showing your incredible youtube videos to your friends and family on the TV through our chromecast device and your chrome browser.

Take a day trip to the town of Highlands (1 hour from the cabin) where most of the porches and bently's west of the Mississippi are found. Drive past one of the many country clubs near Cashiers (45 min) and Lake Toxaway and the Greystone Inn (25 min), knowing that you would have to sell your house to pay the entrance fee to become a member.

Pick-up that nagging relative at the Asheville Airport (54 minutes from your Brevard Rental Cabin)....yes, with all that nagging, it's a day trip!

Take a tour of the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute PARI (30 min) to see their huge radio telescopes and to learn how they transmitted the words 'one small step for man and one giant leap for mankind' to us slugs at home on our couches while Armstrong got some exercise strolling about the moon.

Visit Hendersonville (56 min from the cabin) and stroll down energetic main street on Friday evening.

Lastly, have breakfast at the Country Skillet in Rosman (11 min from the cabin) so you can be among other folks like yourself and work on that belly fat that we soooo need to be hiking off.

To book is easy, if the calendar shows it is not already booked, book online! If you have kids younger than five, contact us about their safety first. The cabin is pet friendly, but we need to charge a small pet cleaning fee for the cleaners extra time.

Also, bring your kayaks, canoes or paddle boards for fun in the river. There is a picnic site down by the river with a fire pit with firewood for cool nights. Your stay also includes a river beach. Pull up a chair in the river and cool your feet as you read or just enjoy the sun. There is excellent fishing in season, plus river wading and exploring.

THE HISTORY OF THE TWO RIVERS

The Appalachian Mountains are the oldest mountains in the world. For millennia, our Forkfield Mountain has stoically stood its ground shaping the junction of the French Broad and East Fork Rivers. Their confluence is Mile Marker Zero and the beginning of the world's third oldest river, the French Broad. A short walk upstream in the French Broad brings you to the Estatoe Crossing, used by the Cherokee on their path between villages in North Carolina and nearby in South Carolina. You can literally stand on history and envision a bygone era.

THE MOUNTAINTOP

The cabin is a park model Lancaster Log Cabin built in the Pennsylvania Amish country. Cozy yet spacious, this cabin provides some unique private areas: the kids' half-loft, the screened porch, and a nice reading nook adjacent to the master bedroom. The log cabin is decorated with a collection of original art, many from artists from the Asheville and Brevard area. On your private mountaintop, your outdoor space includes a gas grill, picnic table and a seating area with a gas fire pit.

WELCOME TO THE LAND OF WATERFALLS

Our county, Transylvania (meaning across the woods) is an amazing outdoor playground. From our 250+ waterfalls, to our pristine trout waters, to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Pisgah National Forest to our diverse community of artists and craftsmen, the Brevard area does not disappoint.

The nearby Pisgah National Forest offers endless miles of varied hiking trails and such attractions as the State Trout Hatchery, Looking Glass Falls (among many others), the Cradle of Forestry, the Pink Beds, Pisgah Stables for horse trail rides, the Devil's Courthouse and everyone's favorite, Sliding Rock.

Dupont State Forest is less than 30 minutes away. Here, Triple Falls is the headliner. It's an impressive sight, a wonderful picnic spot and just upstream from Hooker Falls, a popular swimming spot where you can swim right up to the base of the falls!

Five miles from Forkfield there is access to over 30 miles of off-roading trails in the Jocassee Gorges Wilderness Preserve.

Brevard offers a charming mountain town atmosphere and boasts a world class toy store (not kidding!), art galleries, local artisans and a nice array of restaurant options from brick oven pizza and pasta to fine dining, two bakeries and a chocolatier! Don't forget to visit and sample our many local craft breweries like Ecusta and Brevard Brewing Company plus Oskar Blues and Sierra Nevada. And keep your eyes out for our famous White Squirrels - they're all over town!

With fishing, hiking, biking, off roading, waterfalls and the Pisgah National Forest, Forkfield makes a great base for your mountain vacation get-away.

Bring your ATV!
You are welcome to bring your side-by-side for your vacation. On the property we use ours all the time to run up and down the mountain, around in the field and through the East Fork River to get to our car. There are also nearby trails that are ATV friendly at certain times of the year.

Also, check out our other cabin for rent - The Dell. This will make an excellent getaway or a perfect home base for hikers, bikers or fishermen. You could even have a family reunion by renting both our cabins, The Mountaintop and The Dell!

The space
Located just 10 miles west of Brevard, North Carolina, this beautiful log cabin is part of Falling water Farm, a private equestrian estate that is nestled in its own secluded valley. The property sits on forty seven acres, most of which has been purposely left undisturbed, ensuring space for local wildlife and privacy for the farm. The cabin's large picture windows frame meticulously maintained pastures bordered by streams and springs that flow into a pond located directly in front of the cabin. The covered porch overlooks a waterfall that is beautiful to look at and soothing to hear, especially as one drifts off to sleep. Come morning, enjoy a cup of coffee while watching the horses graze and the ducks dabble for their breakfast on the pond. Guests are welcome to walk the property and meet the horses.

The cabin has an open floor plan for the kitchen, dining, and living room area. This design feature takes full advantage of the floor-to-ceiling windows to offer unrestricted views and a feeling of connection with the land and life that surround the cabin. The living room is tastefully furnished with a couch and two armchairs. For entertainment, there is a flat screen television, a DVD player, and unlimited internet via fiber optic for streaming TV or surfing the web.

The master suite has a king size bed, private bath, and walk in closet. For those people who prefer to sleep with the windows open, the soothing sound of the water is particularly nice in this suite. Upstairs is a roomy loft area with another full bath, a queen bed, and two single beds. One of the single beds can be collapsed and moved out of the way if not needed. The cabin is air conditioned and separate temperature controls for the master bedroom, loft, and great room ensure maximum comfort during the summer months.

The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, electric range, refrigerator with an ice maker, toaster, dishwasher, blender, and coffee makers. There is also a stacked washer and dryer unit just off of the kitchen area. Additionally, there is gas grill and outside dining area located behind the cabin in its private yard. Access to the property is private, entry is via an electric gate. Guests are assigned a unique entry code prior to their arrival.

Transylvania county is the land of waterfalls and hiking, biking, cycling, and sightseeing destinations are only minutes away. For hikers and mountain bikers, Jocassee State Park is just 2.3 miles down the road and for cyclists there are miles of bike routes all through the county. Should fly fishing, tubing, or kayaking interest you, the Davidson and French Broad Rivers are minutes away. For the horse enthusiast, there are several stables in the area that offer trail rides, but reservations are a must. We are also close to DuPont State Forest, Pisgah State Forest, and Caesar's Head State Park. The Biltmore Estate, with its winery, grounds, and gardens, is 35 miles to the north.

Located a mile off of Hwy 64, we are convenient to Sapphire, Cashiers, and Highlands to the west, Brevard and Hendersonville to the east, Asheville to the north, and the upstate of South Carolina to the south. All of these locations have much to offer from great restaurants to great antiquing. The major hubs of Atlanta to the south and Charlotte to the east are both only 2.5 hours away.

Because of the numerous water features and four legged animals already on the property, we are unable to accommodate pets or small children. But if you are looking for a place geared towards the adult traveler, Falling Water Farm is for you.

There is a lot of covered porch space with a side porch, back deck and porch and small covered deck on second level. The fenced yard has a fire pit. The Teeny Cabin, separate from the house, has the twin beds. Consider this space as a Glabin, sort of like Glamping in a cabin as it is not insulated but there is an electric fireplace & heater and also air conditioning.

The space
The cabin features three bedrooms and two bathrooms, making it ideal for families or small groups. The master bedroom has a luxe king-size bed, while the other two bedrooms have queen size beds. Two additional twin beds are located in the upstairs loft along with a wrap around couch. The master bathroom is spacious with lots of natural light and the primary bathroom has a shower/tub combo. The living room is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the nearby attractions. It is furnished with a comfortable sofa and armchairs, and features a natural wood fireplace. The fully equipped kitchen is perfect for preparing meals at home and includes a stove , refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Get away from it all to this unique, rustic cabin. It is secluded and peaceful, yet only 7 miles to downtown Brevard. It has 2 roomy porches to relax on, and a treehouse feel in the summer. Inside there is wide plank pine flooring, hammer beams, and laurel handrailing. At the top of the staircase check out our ravens. Downstairs is the laundry room and ping pong table. Pet friendly. Gas log fireplace in the living room, spacious kitchen, and an old timey claw foot bathtub in the master bath.

The space
It is a one of a kind cabin. The interior has to many details to list. The master(main level) has a king, upstairs is a queen, both have dressers and closets. They are also next to their own full size bathroom. The kitchen should be fully stocked with everything you need to cook with, which is also on the main floor level with the living room. Downstairs in the half basement is the laundry room, ping pong table, a sink, access to the outside grill and fire pit, and an owners closet that we keep locked. We also have a fire pit outside, many of the grocery/convenience stores sell firewood or you can bring your own. 15 minutes to the nearest grocery store, and hiking trails. Brevard is also called the land of the waterfalls, with white squirrels around almost every corner.

The cabin has one bedroom with a comfortable queen sized bed. The bed has a nice mattress and soft cotton sheets. There is a ceiling fan in the bedroom and a TV. The cabin has high speed internet. There are two additional twin sized beds in the loft. To get up to the loft, you must be able to climb a tall ladder. The loft is not suitable for small children. Small children are not allowed in the loft.

There are two TVs with roku. One is in the bedroom and the other is in the living room. The living room has two three seat couches and an ottoman. The living room has a large ceiling fan.

The kitchen has a mini refrigerator, a two burner cooktop, and a toaster oven. It has ceramic plates, cups, mugs, cookware, and utensils. Dishes must be hand washed in the sink. The hot water can be turned on from the electric panel in the bedroom. There is a keurig machine for coffee.

Our large back deck is a great spot to view the changing colors of the fall leaves. It is also a great spot to see the beautiful sky colors when the sun rises!

Our cabin is located in the countryside of beautiful Brevard, North Carolina! I can recommend many amazing waterfalls that you may want to visit.

Bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen and deck. The loft has two twin beds that can be used if you are booking for 3 guests. Be aware that a tall ladder must be climbed to get to the loft making it unsuitable for small children. Small children are not allowed to go up to the loft. Only kids ages 10 and up who are able to climb the ladder safely are allowed to go up there. Pets are not allowed in the loft.

The cabin is located a few minutes inside Connestee Falls gated neighborhood. Once inside the neighborhood, enjoy the drive and scenic lookouts on your way up to the cabin.
Once at the cabin, you can spend time sitting by the fireplace or unwinding on the back deck surrounded by large trees. In the winter, there are views of the lake from the deck. The wood beamed living room has a roku tv, fireplace, cozy seating, and board games and books.
Right off the living room is the kitchen with all modern amenities in a rustic, log cabin. A large table with seating for six, a coffee station, microwave, ninja blender, and crockpot available.
The cabin has three bedrooms. The largest, with a on suite bathroom, is on the left down the hall. Spend time relaxing in bed watching tv, or open the French doors to watch the sunrise out on the connected back deck. The master bedroom has a closet with felt hangers, an antique dresser, and a king size bed. The bathroom attached to the master bedroom has been newly renovated with marble tile in the shower, a soaking tub, and high wood beamed ceilings.
The next bedroom on the right down the hallway has a queen size bed. A cozy room that looks out to the moss covered front yard, and trees all around. There is a small hanging closet with felt hangers.
The third bedroom has recently been renovated into a bunk room. Enjoy a cozy bunk stay to round out your log cabin experience. The bunk room has a small hanging closet with felt hangers.
There is also a laundry room on the hallway that all bedrooms and the main bathroom is located. There is detergent for your stay, should you need it.
We also offer a keurig, hair dryer, iron, and grill. ****Please note.*****Some of our homes may be furnished with a gas bbq grill or outdoor built in grill. If guests wish to use the grills it is the guest responsibility to clean the grill and replenish the propane tank if needed. Exchange refill propane tanks can be purchased at numerous local locations.

The linens are sanitized and laundered before your stay.

Depending on the time of year, it is likley you would see some bugs in any cabin in this region; this is an issue that impacts all cabins universally. If you do see bugs, please let us know so that we can schedule a service call. Also, please know that this is not a reflection of our commitment to quality, but rather a reality of renting a cabin in the mountains.

There are 3 floors and stairs. Baby gate provided to keep children and pets on main floor. Open floor plan with great room, dining area. Lots of outside seating for relaxing, reading or dining al fresco. Bonus queen bed downstairs for guests, all bathrooms are upstairs though.

There is also central air conditioning/heat, a fully-equipped remodeled kitchen with new appliances, a wood burning fireplace in the living room, vaulted ceilings, and a new glassed-in sunroom with a gas fireplace, a screened-in porch and outside decks all overlooking the lake. For your entertainment there are 3 HD flat-screened televisions with satellite service with pay-for-view and 2 DVD players. And for your convenience, there is wireless internet and a full laundry with washer and dryer.

Cozy and comfortable updated, yet rustic cabin that is open, light and bright with long-range year-round views from every room.
Experience breathtaking sunsets while relaxing in the rocking chairs on the deck. Stargaze at night and watch the morning fog lift off the valley. The cabin is nestled on 12 acres, with a field, creek, and hiking trails, not a neighboring home in sight! Secluded mountaintop location yet just a quick trip down the mountain into downtown Brevard!
This isn’t your everyday rental; this is a 4th generation family home. Hand built with love and care in 1982. When you arrive it’s like walking into a fully equipped family home, not just a shell of a building turned over for quick profit.
The kitchen, dining, family room and half bath are located on the main floor. There is a twin daybed with trundle on the main level for extra sleeping options.
Downstairs there are two queen sized bedrooms with 1,000 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets. Each bedroom has a sliding glass doors opening to a lower deck with mountain views.
Full bathroom downstairs with tub/shower combo. We provide shampoo/body wash/conditioner, washcloths, towels and toiletries in case you may have forgotten to pack a toothbrush!
High speed Wi-Fi and excellent cell service along with Samsung smart TV with many free channels to choose from or log into your streaming apps.
If you prefer to unplug, enjoy family game night with multiple games and puzzles to choose from.
The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen providing all cooking utensils, dishes, spices, pots and pans needed to enjoy a homecooked meal. Our stove is the only original appliance in the home, it is 43 yrs old and still works like a charm! It has been used since 1982 when my grandmother canned vegetables from the field.
Appliances available are a Crockpot, microwave, ninja blender, electric tea kettle and toaster. Make coffee in the morning with your choice of a drip maker, Keurig, or French press. We also provide a selection of assorted coffee, tea, and light snacks. Our refrigerator does not have an automatic ice maker, but there are ice trays to make it the “old fashioned way!”
Enjoy summertime barbecues with the propane grill on site along with a spare propane tank provided.
Guests have access to the full home except for the cleaning closet and owner's closet.
Laundry facilities are available for guests staying a week or more.
Wood for the firepit can be purchased at many grocery stores or roadside stands.
The driveway is a private single gravel lane about 1,000 feet from the paved road to the cabin. Not recommended for low profile vehicles, motorcycles, or vehicles pulling trailers. AWD/4-wheel drive is not required but recommended as there is one uphill portion as you exit, about 30 feet in length. Winter conditions could make the gravel icy. We recommend going slowly as you get to know the conditions.
Cabin is located in a wooded mountaintop setting, where wildlife exists such as bear, coyote, fox, bobcat, deer, etc. Although rarely seen, please do not feed wildlife or leave food in vehicles or outside on the decks or porch.
Please do not leave pets or children unattended outside for their safety.

Other things to note
4 x 4 needed during ice or snowstorms (driveway is not plowed). Home is on a shallow well, please conserve water by alternating showers/dishwasher.
Home is on septic tank, please do not flush anything but toilet tissue and refrain from putting oils and grease down the drains.
Must go up 5 porch steps to enter the cabin and there is a staircase to reach the lower two bedrooms.
Well-behaved, house-trained dogs are always welcome. We prefer that they not be left alone at the cabin and that they stay off of furniture and beds.
We do not use artificial plug in air fresheners and our linens are laundered with fragrance free detergent.
Registration of guest/pet count must match the number of occupants. Please book with exact guest count, additional charges apply for undisclosed overnight guests.
We use a commercial local company for pest control services. Being in the wooded surrounding, it is impossible for us to guarantee you won't see a bug. We try to be chemical free but do have wasp/bee spray under the kitchen sink.

We invite you to our peaceful mountain cabin (paved driveway) in the countryside of Brevard, NC (15 min from downtown). Relax by the ponds or hike scenic trails by the stream. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the waterfalls while sipping coffee on the waterfall deck. Unwind in a rocking chair on the front porch with beautiful garden and lower pond views. We have the fastest WiFi available in this area. Past guests loved the natural surroundings of our mountain cabin.

The space
If you have more than 7 guests, you may also be interested in renting our other cabin (see the link in my profile). That cabin is smaller for 2 people so your total guests would be 9 if you booked both properties together.

We were mostly closed since the hurricane in October, but we are now re-open for spring and summer of 2025! Brevard is absolutely gorgeous at this time of year, and the local businesses are open and welcoming back tourists. Plan your visit to our beautiful local parks and waterfalls.

During your stay, please tour the beautifully landscaped grounds. We have trails and bridges that go across the stream that flows through the property. There are two ponds and waterfalls. Relax on the waterfall deck while you enjoy the mountain air and the tranquil sounds of the flowing mountain water.

Our beautiful three bedroom/two bath house features a gas grill on the back deck and two rocking chairs for relaxing on the front deck. Gorgeous long range views of the gardens and lower pond from the front porch! A waterfall deck by the waterfall for relaxing! Comfortable couches and a tv with roku in the living room! A a large dining table and a full kitchen! The kitchen has a refrigerator, oven, microwave, cookware, utensils, plates, cups, coffee, a pantry, and more!

Our property is dog-friendly (up to two dogs) with the pet fee. Your dogs will love roaming our property! We have a grassy hill nearby the upper pond where dogs can run up and down! It the perfect spot for playing frisbee. If your dog is a water dog, they may cool off in the upper or lower ponds! Take your dog for a walk on one of our many trails! When we stay at the house ourselves, my dogs (border collies) get in over 30,000 steps! They love to explore the trails!

Relax in a rocking chair and enjoy the garden view and fresh mountain air from our front porch. A short walk down the driveway, up a few steps, and down a stone nature path will lead you to our waterfall deck. Enjoy the soothing and refreshing sounds of the waterfall! Walk a little further up the path to get to the upper pond!

We have self check in with smart locks and will give you your own code the day before your arrival. You may text or call me at anytime for assistance!

Our beautiful mountain retreat is easily accessible via our paved driveway (use to be gravel until July 2024). We have two parking spots up by the house one is paved and the other is gravel.

The house has a spacious open floor plan with the living room and dining area both in the same central location within the home. The couches are very comfortable and provide seating for up to six guests at a time.

You will be able to access the bedrooms, both bathrooms, the kitchen, the dining area, the front porch, the back porch, and the laundry room. We stay here ourselves on occasion, and we made sure that our house has all of the comforts of home.

You may explore our nature trails at your own risk. Please wear hiking boots and insect repellent. Some trails are harder than others. Some trails are more rugged while others have gravel. We are continuously working to improve our trails. The two ponds, the waterfall, the stream, the cabin on the other side of the bridge, and the gravel road are all part of our property. You may hike in the back of our property past the other cabin on all of our trails and on our gravel road. The front of our property has the trails leading to the waterfall, ponds, and stream. If you hike up the steps in the back, you will get to the top of the hill. Walk down the hill to get to the upper pond. I will have a map of the trails in the house by the guest book. Please sign my guest book when you leave! It makes me so happy to read it!

Other things to note
It is important to note that we do not have trash service in this area of Western North Carolina. Trash is pack and go. You may bring your trash to a nearby landfill. Call ahead to find out their hours and how much they charge. Some of them charge $3 per bag, but they say that you can place all of your trash in one very large bag.
