FAQ’s:
HOW DO I REACH THE CABIN? WILL I NEED A FOUR WHEEL DRIVE?
You will not need a 4-wheel drive unless snow or ice is present. Once inside the neighborhood, you will encounter a single-lane, 1/3-mile gravel road. While it is not considered steep for this area, it may feel uneasy to those who have not driven on gravel mountain roads, particularly if arriving after dark.
WILL I SEE WILDLIFE?
Possibly - we are located at the edge of a wilderness area so it is possible you will see a snake, field mouse, or bear. Most common sighting is the NC Rat Snake which is harmless and protected by law. Occasionally, a guest reports a bear or deer sighting.

Are you looking for a mountain getaway that offers peace and tranquility, but is still close to all the action in the Smokies? Come stay a while at the Little Cove Cabin and find what you've been looking for!
Tucked away in a little cove in the woods, you can relax on the large front porch and watch the abundant wildlife around you or swing in the hammock in the front yard while listening to the babbling brook near by. Wild turkeys, raccoons, rabbits, foxes, coyotes, and even an occasional catamount and black bear have all been seen here!
Relax on the large front porch, or fish for rainbow and speckled trout in the bold creek just down the road. In the evenings, you can roast marshmallows at the fire pit where you can sometimes hear an old Barred Owl hooting in the trees nearby. Take a long stroll up the East Fork creek where 100+ year old farm houses, grazing horses and cattle, and rustic old barns and silos whisper the stories from a bye gone era.
Newly renovated, this romantic little A-Frame log cabin has all the modern comforts of home while maintaining the rustic nostalgia of a cozy little cabin in the woods! The cabin has a queen-sized bed in the downstairs bedroom and a second queen-sized bed in the loft bedroom. A fully equipped kitchen and separate laundry room have everything you will need for your stay. The cabin also has wireless internet access throughout and a flat screen HDTV with Directv programming. Outside, there is a gas grill, dining table and plenty of seating for enjoying meals outside. Also, our 6 person hot tub is perfect for a relaxing soak after a long day of fun in the mountains. There is also a short hiking trail behind the cabin that leads to a romantic little spot to sit and relax near a mountain stream. It's also a great place to walk the dog and enjoy the wild rhododendron and mountain laurel that cover the banks along the trail.
Conveniently located only 10 minutes from the charming town of historic Dillsboro and 15-20 minutes from Sylva, Franklin, and Western Carolina University. The towns of Cherokee and Waynesville are just a 30 minute or less drive away.
If your looking for a cozy place to relax, decompress, and get back to nature, you will find everything you're looking for in the Little Cove!
*We now have FULLY PAVED road access!

- "We had a really nice stay! It’s a quiet location and comfy cabin. Everything you’ll need is there. We made s’mores by the fire. Sat on the porch and took in the view. It was fantastic. Highly recommend." - "This was the perfect place to stay and spend evenings around the fire. We loved that there was enough wood provided for multiple evenings, roasting marshmallows on the provided sticks, and space for five to sit around chatting. With two bedrooms and bath, the family had what was needed for the evening. Suggestion is to have one more red chair for the firepit--assume it recently needed to be replaced and just hadn't been yet :) Thanks to you and the property manager for being quick to respond during and after the rental process."

- "This place is amazingly beautiful and the host has thought of everything you will need for your relaxing stay! She even has a complete welcome book with tons of suggestions and local information. While the yard is shared with the host's own home, it still felt very private and relaxing. The location is great and easy to access many small towns and hiking spots. There is tons of shopping, great food, and nature spots to enjoy. The only caution I would give is that many of the smaller towns are on mountain time or seasonal, and the shops and restaurants arent always open. Especially early in the week like Mon and Tues. It was a perfect getaway and I cant wait to return to view the colors of the NC mountains in the fall!"

Juke Cabin is great place to relax or be adventurous in the mountains of western North Carolina. Our porch offers an incredible view where you can relax on the outdoor sofa or rock in the rocking chairs. The porch is kid/dog friendly with a gate enclosure to prevent sneaking off! Meals can be enjoyed on the porch table or inside on the dining room table. Enjoy the indoor fireplace on a chilly night or outside at the firepit on summer evenings. The kitchen has been fully renovated with all new appliances and granite countertops. The kitchen cabinets an antique "wormy chestnut" that were made locally over 50 years ago and have been restored to maintain the mountaintop cabin feel.
Juke Cabin is centrally located between Cherokee and Asheville, North Carolina. Hiking can be done nearby in the Great Smokey Mountains or Blue Ridge Parkway. Countless waterfalls are located nearby including Dry Falls, Mingo Falls, Looking Glass Falls, High Falls, Turtleback Fall and Rainbow Falls. Visit nearby Dillsboro or Sylva to grab a meal or drink at a local brewery after shopping at the local artist galleries. Jump on the train in Dillsboro and ride it through the Great Smokey Mountains to Bryson City. Visit nearby Cherokee, NC where you can visit the Cherokee Indian Village, see elk, watch the play Unto These Hills (an outdoor drama retailing the Trail of Tears), or try your luck at Harrah's Cherokee Casino. Take a day trip exploring the Great Smokey Mountains and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Kayaking, tubing and white water rafting are just a short trip down the mountain in Dillsboro or in Bryson City. Ziplining is a fun adventure close to Juke Cabin too. There are several gem mining locations nearby that is always fun for the kids. Asheville is just an hour away. We are happy to offer suggestions on things to do that involve kids, dogs, grandparents or families.
Or, just sit on the porch with a glass of wine or cup of coffee while enjoying the view to recharge your batteries!
We have enjoyed our cabin for over 16 years with babies, kids, teenagers, grandparents and dogs. We can offer a variety of suggestions on places to see, visit, eat and hike for any age group - with our without dogs too!
- "We have been coming to the area for about 10 years and always look for a place with a view, this was the best so far with the covered porch. Morning coffee rain or shine with a view. For this property you should have 4WD or ALL-WD, you could make it up the road with 2WD but will be a little scary if you are not a skilled driver because you will need speed to overcome some of the turning inclines. Overall this was one of the best places we have stayed for the pricing excellent value if you treasure tranquility. Dish network and internet are a little sketchy, DVD movie rental at redbox or plan on reading a book while at JUKE. Do not plan on quality internet here. I viewed that as a positive to unplug mostly for the time we were there. Over all I rate 9 out of 10..."

- "This was an anniversary to remember, mainly because we rented this perfect, cozy cabin. The interior and exterior of the cabin is exquisite. It was the right amount of space for a weekend getaway. The amenities are either new or kept up as if they’re brand new. Patrycja’s directions and instructions were very helpful and accommodating. We love Sylva, and this experience made us love it that much more." - "This place was immaculate and outfitted with all the amenities needed. - "We had a wonderful stay at the cabin. We spent hours just sitting on the porch listening to the stream. The hot tub was a great perk for after hiking. Lots of great food around the area." - "My husband and I ran off to the mountains for our anniversary and this was the perfect place to escape to. The town is lovely, but this property was the best part of our stay. Relaxing in the hot tub with the sounds of the creek nearby, surrounded by lush greenery, was heavenly. We kept the back doors open most of the time we were home so we could listen to the creek. We had everything we needed for our stay. I hope to come back when it is cooler and take advantage of the firepit and wood stove. We will definitely be back whether in cooler weather or again in the summer. Mary was a gracious host and always friendly and helpful. She was super prompt to help us get back in when we locked ourselves out. 10/10 would recommend, except I want to keep this jewel for myself!"

- "We stayed here while we celebrated our wedding weekend and it was so beautiful and quaint. A slight incline / narrow road for the final couple minutes of the drive, but worth it to get the views on the balconies outside. House was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We hope to stay here again in the future!" - "Ahhhh….the perfect “40th Anniversary Retreat” to the NC mountains!! Up the mountain on a winding one-lane road to discover a cabin surrounded by nature looking out over a beautiful vista of the Smoky Mountains! We opened the cabin door and our four night stay in this lovely abode began… My husband & I have rarely experienced such a welcoming haven away from home. A quiet atmospere in shades and various textures of white and cream with natural accents of gray, tan, green…here and there a dash of black, silver, copper, glass and naturally antiqued metal surfaces. Vintage pieces of furniture adorned with ginger bread decoration are perfectly melded with sleek modern appliances, a glass walled roomy shower, and a memory foam mattress that carries you away to dreamland each night. We spent 2 afternoons on the enclosed porch reading & lounging on comfortable outdoor furniture. The most minute details were thought of….I was most impressed with the makeup removal washcloth and Tom was quite taken with the mini waffle maker…he created a quick breakfast for two one A.M. that was just right! Mary Ann has obviously put her heart and soul into the creation of this amazing cabin…thank you for making our 40th anniversary celebration perfect in every way! Enjoyed shopping in the cute shops in Dillsboro, Sylva and Highlands…picked up some early Christmas presents for family members. We had an anniversary dinner to remember @ BOOTS Steak House in Dillsboro. Great filet steaks with large house salads & tasty homemade dressings, potato choices, etc. Everytning was cooked to order."

- "The cabin was a very peaceful place to stay! I loved the location--the sound of the creek right behind the cabin was especially relaxing. The cabin itself was quiet, clean, and comfortable. I was there for a slightly longer stretch after moving, and there was plenty of storage space. Greg was a friendly and welcoming host, and was happy to help and answer any questions I had. I enjoyed staying here and would definitely recommend!" - "This was a great place to stay during a week when I wanted to unplug and recharge. Close to town, so you can easily reach restaurants, but far enough away to feel private. The cabin is small, but there's plenty of room to store things, so it never felt cluttered. I had no plans and brought stuff to do a number of things. There's a creek behind the cabin that was a constant relaxing sound and helped sleep. And Greg was a great host - communicating when he would be around the property working/making noise, but also making sure any needs are met. Would definitely stay here again."

Walnut Grove Farmhouse, a renovated 1930s era home, is a remnant of an old farm. We are situated on 17 acres of rolling hills with handsome views from the upper pasture along with a stand of 14 walnut trees. Sit a spell on the porch, listen to the trickling brook (a roaring brook when we get significant rain), the sound of birds, the sounds at night and maybe some turkeys will venture through. We are located midway between Franklin and Dillsboro, Sylva, Cullowhee.
The space
The Farmhouse offers respite and comfort. Take the opportunity to relax and ponder the past in this Appalachian Mountain farming community. Plenty of outdoors to explore, hills to climb, places to check out in the community. The Farmhouse is equipped with heating/air (mini-splits) and electric fireplace stove that provides heat and/or lovely ambiance. Kitchen with most amenities. Please feel free to ask if you need something.
The Farmhouse offers two bedrooms with benches, space under benches, pegs to hang clothes, first aid kit, bathroom with ceiling heater, hand and body soap, shampoo and conditioner along with washcloths, bath and hand towels and two newly added make up mirrors. Forget something? Check the guest cabinet or ask especially if you have an immediate need.
The high ceiling in the main living area highlights the loft that creates an amazing openness. The loft, however, is off-limits to guests due to safety concerns.
Walnut Grove Farmhouse is also a working farm from Spring through Fall. There may be a small group of Black Angus often with calves that you may or may not see depending on where they are on the farm. If the gate to the pasture is open you are welcome to walk up to the top. If the gate is closed/locked we will be happy to unlock or find another way of access. We cannot take the chance of any cow or calf escaping! At times there may be farm and property maintenance chores occurring.
State-maintained gravel to property entrance. From there AWD or 4WD is recommended but not required. Travel through the open gate to the Farmhouse with a steady pace of 15-20 MPH. Once entering gate the drive to The Farmhouse is circular. No pets. Not handicapped accessible. No parties!
Guest access
Access Farmhouse using the 4 digit code given to you to open box that holds the key.
The Farmhouse and surrounding pastures are for your enjoyment. Feel free to explore. We would love for you to walk to the high pasture for the beauty and the view. However, the gates are locked when cattle are in the pasture. Please let us know your interest in walking and we will help with the locked gate. We cannot risk any cow or calf escaping. When exploring nature it's a good idea to use insect repellent.

The Cane Creek House is the adventurers' paradise. The pavement ends and turns into single-track dirt road for about 100 yards, following Cane Creek itself. Renovations in 2000 and again in 2012 boast a breezy front porch with a creek view, a sunroom/eating area/workspace, full kitchen and bathroom, and rooms for a comfortable 4 or cozy max of 5. The Cane Creek House is a Basecamp from which to jump off on your adventures of the surrounding mountains, trails, and waterfalls!
The space
The Cane Creek House is an Appalachian cabin built along Cane Creek, a direct tributary of the Tuckaseigee River. The Tuck is renowned for its fly fishing, rafting, kayaking, and wildlife viewing.
Cane Creek Rd is a public throughway that continues past the House and quickly turns into a 4WD road that crosses the creek 4 times. It is an excellent out-and-back for trail running and mountain biking.
Home to all the wildlife that the Blue Ridge Mountains boast, nature is up close and personal. Bears are regular visitors, so protect them by protecting your food and trash.
There is a pavilion available for picnicking and outdoor cooking, lawns for games and frisbee, and easy access to the creek for cooling your feet at the end of a long day.
The Cane Creek House is located 10 minutes from Sylva, an hour from Asheville and surrounded by rivers, trails, Forest Service lands, the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Gorges State Park. It is truly "Away From It All, In the Middle of Everything!"

At times other guests may be HipCamping/glamping on the other end of the property and have shared access to the lawns and pavilion.

Other things to note
Because the wi-fi is excellent and most people travel with connective devices, we’ve chosen not to include a TV in the house.

Guest access
Guests will have the entire home and the 1.3 acre usable meadow lot with wildflowers to themselves.
The property is not fenced as it is a mountain cabin. Wildlife may enter the 1.3 acre lot.
We also hire an array of local reputable local businesses to help keep this property in great shape as much as possible - it truly takes a team to keep a mountain cabin in great shape. During your stay, someone might come onto the property to empty out the outdoor trash bin, provide exterminator services to help keep nature at bay, mow the lawn and other services (example, deliver packages). Due to weather and other circumstances, I do not have complete control over exactly when these service providers might come onto the exterior lot. If you are particularly sensitive about having the entire 1.3 acre lot to yourself without anyone coming to take care of the lot, please let me know in advance of your stay.
Other things to note
What draws vsitors to the Cozy A -Frame (nature and unique architecture) can also present some challenges for certain guest. The cabin is nestled in beautiful nature . Guests love the song birds that are often singing outside. While we have scheduled pest maintenance, nature can find its way into the home when the door or deck is left open - a bee, wasp, mosquito, ant, lizard, etc - please be understanding of this and keep the doors closed and do not leave food or sweet items out.
As of June, 2023, we have wifi internet. But I really hope you spend your time here exploring nature and the area or just relaxing at the cabin unplugged from the internet!
If you book the Cozy A-Frame, it's probably because you appreciate the architecture of the A-Frame - it's so unique and guests love it. For guests booking a stay during the hot season, please know that we have a portable AC unit downstairs and a portable AC unit in each bedroom upstairs. (Prior to June, 2023, there was no AC upstairs).
