Life is all around us. We need to celebrate it, every day. Hikes are free, so are long walks and views from mountain tops and gorgeous waterfalls. Dine at excellent nearby restaurants, or cook the latest NY Times recipe that caught your eye in the Mountain House's well stocked kitchen. Some guests say they’ve never stayed at a house so well stocked. Enjoy some quality family time watching a movie or out by the fire pit (we supply the firewood) laughing and making s'mores. You won't find a better house. Beautiful bones...post and beam architecture...plenty of room for a family or group of friends. If you read the reviews, they tell the story. We've been sharing the house since 2013, and we have developed a devoted clientele who return year after year.

As longtime VRBO fans ourselves, we furnished this house to be the place we always looked for, but rarely found. Mountain rustic...(modern mountain if you will), with designer details, antiques and a refined casual vibe thrown in for a lovely eclectic mix. This craftsman style, genuine post and beam house has gorgeous heart of pine wood and slate floors throughout - no carpet. Whole house Google wifi, HD tvs with YouTube TV, Netflix and Amazon streaming.

Not to name drop - ok, maybe just a bit - when actor Josh Brolin and his gorgeous Atlanta bride decided on Cashiers as the place for their 2016 Lonesome Valley wedding, it was quite the event. Matt Damon, La Streisand and many more in attendance. The bride's family chose the Mountain House as their wedding abode, which we took as a real compliment.. our little moment in the spotlight!

So what's so great about the Mountain House? Amazing mattresses and linens, a kitchen with everything you need, not just a bit of it. Down comforters to snuggle in, big soft sofas, tons of tall windows to let in loads of light, surrounded by trees and rhododendrons.

Cleanliness: It is top on our priority list, as it is for most travelers. We have a top notch cleaning team, and you can be assured your vacation getaway is clean, top to bottom.

Convenience: It's also important to us and our guests to be close to the supermarket, hiking, waterfalls, restaurants, and shops. While still secluded and pastoral, the Mountain House is just minutes to all these things.

Detailing: It's here, in every room, not just some of them. And it's just one thing that sets the Mountain House(and its baby sister, the Hobbit House - #655938) apart. All the rooms are unique, with great accents, from the ten foot antique French workbench coffee table in front of the fireplace, to cool art throughout the house.

Family perfect: Aren't most of us looking for the place that can help make the best family memories? Birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, holidays....the occasions that make you realize that time together is the gift that never wears out.

Space for everyone! The great room is perfect for family confabs in front of the soaring 24 foot rock fireplace...great in the winter season or on chilly summer nights(and a second, lovely living area downstairs)...plenty of seating to chat, or watch movies.

Family dining: A huge rustic trestle dining table that seats 10 to 12 easily, anchors the dining room. A large antique buffet against the wall for serving that gourmet dinner. Right by the screened porch is the open porch, where you can dine al fresco with your family and guests at a huge 10 foot table, enjoying the gorgeous summer weather in the mountains.

Cooking: The fully stocked, gourmet kitchen has beautiful soapstone countertops and farmhouse sink, TWO ovens (heaven for the cook), and a Wolf induction cooktop...and everything you need to prepare and serve an amazing family meal. Beautiful dishes and serving ware, family size slow cooker, electric kettle, drip coffee maker, blender, Cuisinart pots and pans, spices and cooking basics.

Relaxation: Sure, we all love togetherness (most of the time), but we also need some alone time, right? Try the screened porch, where I promise you'll spend a lot of time. The large daybed swing with tons of pillows and a foam mattress is the best place imaginable for reading or naps...and you may even sleep there one night! There are plenty of getaway spots for quiet moments.

Six bedrooms: Three bedrooms on the main level: 1 king, 2 queens, with 2-1/2 baths (both with heated stone floors). Upstairs are 2 more guest bedrooms (1 queen and 2 twins) that share the hall bath. The 6th bedroom is a king on the lower level, very private, with glass doors and windows onto the back garden with lots of rhododendrons. It also has a full bathroom with heated stone floors and a seating area outside for your morning coffee!!

Laundry: Yep, it happens, even on vacation. But here it's easy...a beautiful (yes, it can be) laundry/mud room just off the kitchen, and a side entrance (great place to unload groceries)...with top of the line front loading washer and dryer, prep sink area just off the kitchen, and a lovely summer herb garden just outside the door.

No TV struggle: A lovely 2nd family room with HDTV is on the lower level, with big windows, built in bookshelves, mini-fridge and sink...and a game room with foosball and ping-pong. Game on!

More s'mores! No problem. Just outside is a boulder firepit with cedar Adirondack chairs perfect for a chilly mountain night and we have long, stainless marshmallow roasters!

Location: The Mountain House is located in a lovely, gated neighborhood just behind the Country Club of Sapphire Valley...a wooded, gentle, level road for walking, biking or driving (not so far out and up hairpin twist roads you think twice about going anywhere). Snow is cleared by the neighborhood assoc. in the winter, as is our driveway.

Activities: Done, and done. The Sapphire Resort facilities with indoor and outdoor pools, winter ski slopes (snow tubing is great fun!), pickleball, tennis, exercise room, playground, two hot tub, saunas, and massage...literally just down the street. Beautiful Fairfield Lake is just down the road with swimming, canoes and paddleboards. You have access for a small daily fee.
Hiking, waterfalls, golf, fishing, shopping...it's all here. We're also very close to several top notch restaurants, including the renowned Canyon Kitchen at Lonesome Valley and The Library Kitchen and Bar, both less than 5 minutes away.

Baby, oh baby: You won't have to pack all your baby gear! We have a wonderful Four Moms Breeze Pack and Play, a Cybex stroller, Phil & Ted's lobster high chair, an exer-saucer and vibrating baby rocker for your convenience.

We just finished a 10-mo renovation! You'll love our very secluded cabin with a great view and rustic touches. Beautiful drives on curvy mountain roads lead to the quaint mountain towns of Highlands and Cashiers. Enjoy a completely private, quiet and recently-renovated cabin overlooking Black Mountain. You'll wake up to this amazing view in the upstairs primary bedroom with a king bed, and enjoy your coffee on the small balcony. The first-floor bedroom has a queen bed, with French doors that open to a covered porch and wonderful view. If needed, a blow-up mattress is available--simply roll the kitchen island out of the way to make space! To ensure we keep everything clean and sanitized for all guests, overnight sleeping on the couch is not permitted. You'll have your choice of several outdoor spaces, including the amazing aforementioned covered, screened-in porch. A large deck with Adirondack chairs to enjoy the mountain view is perfect on sunny days and it boasts an outdoor eating area, which is perfect for enjoying the summer nights. A tin-roof deck with a hanging day bed for a relaxing afternoon is a must while you're at the cabin. You'll feel whisked away to two different worlds, depending on the direction that you look while swaying in the bed. You can bring yourself to the deep forest or imagine hiking the mountains. The tin-roof deck also comes with full-size propane and charcoal grills. Adirondack chairs surround the fire pit, in the natural setting of the woods. You will be minutes away from a natural sliding rock, hiking trails, shopping, golf courses, lakes and many wonderful restaurants. Dogs are welcome anytime (max 2, NTE 50 lbs each or contact us to discuss), and if interested/needed, we store two collapsible kennels for your use. The cabin comes equipped with a fully stocked kitchen, sheets, bedding, towels, and hair dryers. We have Starlink internet, a smart DVD player and a Google Chromecast for Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu. Finally, there's a laundry room upstairs for your use.

The first and last third of the driveway to get to the property is a little steep. Although a truck or SUV would make it up there easier than other vehicles, we've had all type of cars and trucks that make it up just fine, including small 4-door sedans. If you drive SLOWLY, it won't be a problem at all. We've also had experienced motorcyclists up there. The driveway is naturally and purposely bumpy. We keep it maintained but due to the heavy rainfall, in between maintenance, it can get quite bumpy. Also, there are culverts placed in various spots to divert the water down the hill.

Security cameras are on site, outside only. $250 fee for tampering with cameras or equipment.

So, with all that said, welcome to the Hobbit House in the breathtaking mountains of western North Carolina. A small space, yes...but such a sanctuary. And don’t we need that these days? The perfect hideout for a week or a long weekend. Just a two minute drive (if that), or a 10 minute walk to the Cashiers crossroads, the Hobbit House is nestled within an acre of mountain laurel, holly and tall pines....an airy, sophisticated Cashiers cabin with in-town seclusion.

The Hobbit House was completely redone with stainless kitchen appliances and new bathroom (note: the bathroom is downstairs from the loft bedroom) and redecorated into a luxurious, warm and peaceful getaway for two - or three, if you have a dog ($100 dog fee). Relax in the woods - yet have all the luxuries of home: HD Roku streaming of TV cable channels with all the possible sports channels plus Netflix, Amazon, Sling etc...washer and dryer and solid Wi-Fi. A petite but modern kitchen and flagstone floored bath with a modern subway-tiled walk-in shower...both on the first floor.. are just off the open living area with a wood burning, stone fireplace.

On cooler days, there is warm air flowing at the flick of a switch plus the fireplace, and an upstairs super efficient standing floor air conditioning unit that keeps the cottage cool on the rare, warmer than normal day. Usually the stainless steel ceiling fans do the trick!

Follow the mountain laurel railing upstairs to the light filled loft bedroom (bathroom downstairs), where a wonderful night's sleep awaits under the rafters. The gel-topped, memory foam, king size bed will soothe you to sleep in the cool mountain air after a day of hiking, waterfalls or shopping.

The Hobbit House is a cabin with a difference. Everything in The Hobbit House has been chosen specifically for this cottage. While poplar bark siding protects the exterior, inside you’ll find a light, modern, designer-mountain feel with a whitewashed shiplap interior, artisan details, the latest energy-efficient appliances and cool art. There are also top quality sheets and fluffy towels...you won't find another place like it except our big sister house. You'll find a link below to the Mountain House if you're looking for something larger (6B-4-1/2B) but with the same easy style.

In the morning, have your coffee on the Sunday porch swing next to the mountain laurel rails that line the deck. Listen to the silence of the rain forest, broken only by the Carolina birds singing their tunes. Promise yourself that today, you WILL make time for reading. Ok, and maybe a nap on that same plush swing-bed. Later, enjoy a glass of wine in the same spot or take it with you walking the secluded roads and trails just outside your door. Then, if you wish, cook dinner in the fully-equipped kitchen or grill outside on the gas grill. Even better, slip away to one of Cashier's many wonderful restaurants that are just minutes away. The primary bedroom and the lower level day bed room are also equipped with flat-screen LED televisions. All TV's have independent Direct TV satellite programming and can stream any of your personal services such as Netflix, Prime, Hulu, etc. There are Sonos speakers throughout the cabin and music can be played via streaming services such as Spotify and Pandora through a designated Ipad and the Sonos app. All bedrooms have pillow-top mattresses, down comforters, and comfortable linens. These beds are heavenly to sleep on at night and perfect for those mid-day naps!!

The back porch of the cabin overlooks the woods and a small stream that runs along the back of the property. This porch is furnished with vintage rocking chairs and a porch swing to enjoy that morning coffee, or drink in the afternoon, while relaxing in the cool mountain air. There is also a flagstone patio on the lower level of the cabin with Adirondack chairs.

Outside, there is a fire pit with Adirondack chairs and a large eight-foot outdoor dining table. This setup is perfect to enjoy an evening beside the fire roasting marshmallows, telling stories, or just simply relaxing.

We have a Smart TV, bring your own laptop, if you need .... Or it may be time to unplug ... CAN YOU ? We do allow children that are a little older and can follow Camp rules. AC seldom required ....windows that open and the soft breeze from lake and Mountain Laurels and rhodedendrums.....We DO have AC but, it is cool most of the time and if not, enjoy the AC. You can rent kayaks, paddle boards or boats on Lake Glenville.-Signal Ridge Marina is across the lake. SMART TV, Hiking trails are exciting-Whiteside a must and Yellow Mountain. Dining is a treat-The Orchard,The Library, Canyon Kitchen, Cashiers Farmer's Market ,SlabTown, Whiteside Brewery and Oak Steakhouse. Shopping in Downtown Cashiers is wonderful. About 2 1/2 hours from ATL or 1 hour from Asheville. The drive is so pretty once out of the city. It is a slice of heaven on this side. Early morning fog is gorgeous on the lake and as peaceful as can be. NO ANIMALS and NO SMOKING. Fantastic place to study for a BIG test( tests studied MCAT, Step 1,Step2,LSAT,The BAR and many school exams). Or JUST BE...you will be so happy you did. The area is magical . Shopping is fantastic. The mountains are beautiful. Cashiers Farmers Market has fresh local food. Ingles is a good grocery store. Churches are abundant . St Judes is in Sapphire, so close by. Cashiers has great stores ,Nora's is a favorite and dining places, hikes are all around and sitting on the dock or porch for watching the stars is magnificent.
The porches are BIG and the living space is on both floors with all hardwood floors. There are books to read in library, in case you forgot yours at home. GORGEOUS LAKESIDE views!

Lake Glenville is 3 miles from the cabin where you can rent a boat for the day or go swimming on the sandy public beach area. Excellent hiking and beautiful waterfalls are close by. Cultural events abound in this corner of North Carolina and both the Biltmore, the Cradle of Forestry, and Great Smoky Mountains National Park are not far away.

Enter into a spacious kitchen with a gas range, drip coffee maker and 6 top dining room table. The living room with vaulted ceilings, comfortable seating, and a wood burning fireplace is a great place to relax. Satellite internet, TV service with ROKU, and WIFI phone service is provided via a Starlink dish that offers speedy and reliable upload and download speeds to support today's data-hungry electronics.

The king primary bedroom with a TV, en-suite bathroom and walk-in shower is on the main floor, as well as the queen guest bedroom with a TV. Across the hallway from the guest bedroom is the guest bathroom which also serves as the powder room. Go upstairs to the open loft area with a queen bed, a day bed, a dresser, a TV and a small desk with available printer.

- "My firmed and I enjoyed staying in the completely refurbished cottage. At first the idea of staying in the business district seemed strange, but it worked out really well. All was quite and cozy and safe. It was extremely convenient to visit all the offerings of downtown Cashiers. If there is any suggestion we have, it was that the tv should come out of the armoire in the living area so a clothing rod could be installed and the shelves used for clothing storage as well, instead of staring so many beautiful but unnecessary extra throw pillows. Also the cottage could be de-cluttered just a bit as it seemed a bit over decorated with lots of cute bric a brac. All was really cute and the ultra soft throw blankets were so nice on the cool mountain mornings."

This private mountain retreat in Whiteside Mountain with stunning views. The cabin, though rustic, is also quite comfortable with every convenience. The interior space is a three level open concept cabin including a wood burning stove & separate fireplace on the main level. Please know this is a 30 night minimum rental! There is definitely wildlife in the area so please make sure to keep all screen doors closed at all times and all doors closed at night. It is highly possible to see bears, etc.

In addition there are 2 sleeper sofas (one queen and one full) available. There is a TV room and reading area in the loft. We have a large selection of DVD's and books here as well. Towels, linens, paper products, coffee pods, coffee filters and fire wood are provided. Wake up to a beautiful mountain view and enjoy the deck, covered porch and fire-pit throughout the day and evening. Entry is on the second floor. Pets are welcomed with a pet fee per stay.

Guest have access to the second and third floor of the 3 story modern cabin. There are two outdoor spaces on the second floor for you to enjoy. One is the covered porch off the kitchen. The other is the entry deck with a beautiful mountain view and perfect place to watch the hummingbirds. You also have access to the deck, outdoor bathhouse and fire-pit on the first floor. Should you want to build a fire or cook on the fire pit, charcoal and wood are provided here as well. The first floor living quarters are a completely separate home and the private residence of the owners. The owners will be traveling during your stay.

THE SETTING
Located in the Nantahala National Forest, the Hilltop Hideaway sits on 1.5 beautiful wooded acres, promising you privacy, peace, and quiet - the only sounds you'll hear are the nearby stream and the chirping of birds. A deck overlooks the backyard and features a dining table and rocking chairs for you to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The fire pit is the perfect spot to spend an evening under the stars, watching the fireflies.

LIVING AREA & KITCHEN
After you've spent the day exploring, you can curl up in front of the cozy wood-burning fireplace in the living room. There you'll find a smart tv along with plenty of games, books, and puzzles for relaxing mountain evenings. During the day, this space is filled with natural light and has plenty of windows to enjoy the scenery. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to cook meals (including basic oils and spices), and features an island to provide extra prep space and extra seating in addition to the dining room table. A charcoal grill is also available for guest use. But don't worry if you don't feel like cooking - there are tons of fabulous restaurants nearby!

BEDROOMS
The master bedroom, which connects to the bathroom, features a luxurious king size bed, and the second bedroom has two twin beds. We made sure that our beds are super comfy for a great night's sleep, and guests rave about our mattresses and linens!

We furnished the huge Great Room with a large-screen TV and oversized leather sofas and chairs, giving it a comfortable mountain feel. Complete with a ventless, remote-controlled gas fireplace, this beautiful room opens up to an expansive wrap-around deck with seating for 12.

The spacious and fully equipped kitchen has stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. Grill out on the new, oversized grill or dine at one of the local restaurants. The choice is yours with the town of Cashiers only 8 minutes from home and the neighboring town of Highlands only 20 minutes west.

Enjoy relaxing on the wrap-around deck while listening to the tranquil sounds of the stream below. The Bearfoot Cottage sits on 1 acre of flat land - rare to find in the mountains! This allows for fun lawn sports - croquet, bocce ball, badminton or tossing a football. Complete your day enjoying the beautiful sunset on the deck.

Our Brewer’s cabin is secluded from the rest of the property, but still close enough to enjoy everything The Wells Hotel and Whiteside Brewing Co. has to offer. The Yellow Mountain Cabin was built in 1928 by my Great Grandfather. Step back in time and enjoy the whimsy and charm of our craftsman-style cabin while enjoying the modern amenities, including a new King Size bed in the master! Nestled in the woods, enjoy the view, the beautiful antiques, the stained glass windows, and more! Perfect for couples, families, or a friend's retreat! The space
The master bedroom has a brand new King Size Bed, sitting area, desk, dresser, and closet with bathroom. Upstairs are two bedrooms, each with sinks in the room and a shared jack and jill style bathroom in-between. One bedroom has a comfortable full-size antique iron bed, and the second has sturdy wooden bunk beds with comfortable mattresses and bedding. The great room is home to a large dining table built by our grandfather and a gorgeous stone fireplace original to the cabin. Comfortable seating as well! Step outside onto the covered porch, feed the birds and listen to the creek flow at the base of the 4-acre property.

The Yellow Mountain Cabin has a lot of sentimental family antique furniture. I ask that you care for it as I do. If you have a pet, we welcome them, as long as you supervise them at all times and crate them if you leave the cabin without them. Please pick up after your pet.

The ‘Mariposa Cabin’ is a custom newly built mountain cabin that sits in a cove at 3000ft elevation with the surrounding mountain peaks above 5000 ft elevation. This secluded, serene, and rustic yet, refined mountain getaway is the perfect stay when visiting the mountains of western NC. The property features a larger trout pond on the land and guests are welcome to enjoy it. The cabin is sustainably designed and features an open floor plan with a partition wall separating the bed and kitchenette from the freestanding slipper tub, vanity, and the Norwegian built incinerator toilet. The WiFi is fiber optic supplied high speed. The cabin sits on a property with two ponds of which includes the larger trout pond with firepit. It is approximately 15 minutes from downtown Highlands and approximately 5 minutes from Cashiers. Local experiences include fishing, swimming, boating, hiking, snow skiing, and Mtn biking through the local Nantahala National Forest with abundant wildlife. The Blue Ridge Parkway is about 25 miles away from the property.

We believe a stay should feel more comfortable than a high-end hotel—with more privacy, personal touches, and none of the checkout chores.

You’ll sleep soundly on a luxury mattress with spa-quality sheets, plush towels, and cozy robes. The cabin’s warm scent comes from its original wormy chestnut footprint and rough-sawn wood walls.

We welcome well-behaved pets with prior approval. A $250 pet fee is charged at booking, with $200 refunded after checkout if there is no excessive mess or damage. A few thoughtful supplies for pups can be found in the antique medicine cabinet in the kitchen.

Enjoy a full kitchen stocked with olive oil, spices, a blender, coffee, sugar, creamer, wine for purchase, and a welcome drink.

We offer laundry services, mid week cleaning and bed linens refreshing for additional fees for longer stays.

Inside is a full bathroom with tub/shower and radiant floor heat. Outside, a patio features a clawfoot soaking tub and open-air shower—perfect even on rainy days.

Dine indoors or on the screened porch with views of the pasture and barn. There are books, games, and a watercolor set for slow afternoons. At night, enjoy the firepit under the stars.

The cabin shares a driveway with the main house but is tucked away for privacy. Horses are nearby but at a respectful distance.

The entire cabin is all for you. The fenced in area outback with the fire pit is also all yours. Please don’t enter the pasture, climb the fences, open the gates, go in the barn or approach the main house.

If you’re bringing a pet their safety if your responsibility. There are horses directly out back. We are not responsible for any injuries resulting from them entering the pasture.

There are currently no rideshare or taxi options (Uber, Lyft, etc.) or food delivery services available in our area. Please plan ahead for transportation and meals.

Please note we— like most mountain cabins— are on satellite internet which can be slow and unreliable. If you need access to fast, consistent wifi, Bucks Cafe 10 min from the cabin has excellent coffee and pastries, and a great ambiance for working. If you need to work off wifi from home, please consider another cabin. Thanks!

Please bring your own Keurig Cups

Any and all garage, shed, crawlspace, or maintenance or mechanical areas are off limits to guests. Please do not enter these areas—interior or exterior—and stay away from any areas containing home maintenance products and equipment (we do store some lawncare products on premise but in closed bins, sheds, garages, or plastic trunks). By booking the reservation, you consent to waiving any liability related to accessing the above mentioned off-limits areas. This includes crawl spaces, under decks, or near any outdoor mechanical equipment such as HVAC. If you need assistance with accessing one of these areas, please send us a message first and we will make arrangements. Your cooperation is much appreciated!

The Highlands Happy Place is situated in the Historic Whiteside Forrest neighborhood in Highlands, NC. Mountain views from almost every room! To the side of the balcony is a fenced in yard great for pets. 9 acres to explore, a fishing pond at bottom of property, and hiking trails all around. The space
The cabin is high-end mix of both rustic and modern with central AC/heat, a wood-burning fireplace, WiFi, whirlpool tub and fully equipped kitchen. You will rest well on pillow top mattresses, fine linens, feather pillows, quilts and down comforters. Glorious views ans world-class hiking are everywhere, as are many restaurants and cute shops.

The Haven is a luxury retreat on 8 private acres, perfect for families & groups! Stay in two cabins + a bunk house, enjoy a hot tub, wood-burning fireplace, private hiking trails, & two ponds with canoes & fishing. The main lodge has two separate units: one with a primary suite with king bed + loft (2 king beds, private bath), and a second 1BR/1BA unit with a living area & kitchenette. Cozy, yet spacious this log cabin has three bedrooms with two and a half newly renovated bathrooms. The open public spaces flow from a fully equipped kitchen, to the dining area, and around to the soaring fireplace room with a new ventless gas fire (which is good for those with allergies.) Main bedroom is on the first floor. Upstairs are two more bedrooms. The covered side porch has swings. The large deck has a dining table, seating and a hammock as well as a gas grill.

Also included: full laundry, wifi, and Roku televisions with additional cable and a fire pit

Other things to note
If, by chance, the water is off, there is a Water Cop on the wall in the hall pantry. Simple. Push the ON button.
Mountain living involves occasional flickers of internet and water.
If there is air in the pipes, open the faucets and let them run. Flush toilets. If the water has a serious problem you will be notified in person. That only happened one afternoon this year.
The internet can be reset at the box in the great room. If the internet actually goes out, call me and I will call the company to reset.
There is a gas fireplace in the great room with a thermostat that should be simple to use. Instructions will be close by.
The house is on a septic system. PLEASE do not put anything extra down the toilet except toilet paper.

This authentic, hand-hewn, three level, custom log lodge fulfills every mountaineer’s dream. This secluded home is situated at over 3,000 feet elevation, on 3 acres and borders 80+ acres of US Forest Service land yet it is minutes from the Cashiers' crossroads and downtown Highlands. It is spacious enough for the entire family and equipped with a game room that will entertain all the kids. Make your way down to the creek to explore or gather around the custom stone fire pit for s'mores.

The space
Upon entering the home, you will notice the soaring ceilings, beautiful wide-planked wood floors and floor-to-ceiling stack stone, gas burning fireplace. There are four bedrooms (1 king, 2 queens, 2 queens, 1 queen and a bunk bed), a loft with 2 twin sleeper sofas, and a queen sleeper sofa downstairs. There are four full bathrooms, three with claw-foot tubs and two with separate tiled showers. All of the bathrooms boast replicas of vintage wall mounted, pull-chain toilets. The lodge is beautifully decorated throughout and is filled with vintage antiques and custom, hand-crafted furniture and hardware.

For the chef, our fully-equipped gourmet kitchen meets every foodie's demands. It is a mix of handmade antique pieces and modern appliances. You will find a double-oven, a six-top Dacor gas stove and every pot/pan/gadget you can imagine. Perfect for preparing and then enjoying large family meals on either the indoor or outdoor custom, hand-crafted dining tables. Going beyond the standard amenities, our loaded game room is complete with a 55 inch flat-screen smart TV, billiards, air hockey, ping-pong, foosball, cards, chess/checkers, and various board games. A second stack stone, gas fireplace is at the ready with a click of a button. You will find two other TVs in the lodge, a 32 inch in the master and a 55 inch in the loft. Need a little quiet time? Cozy-up with a book in our stocked library.

Enjoy the modern conveniences of home including washer/dryer, dishwasher, central heat and air, YouTube TV and high speed fiber optic Wifi. Please note that this is the mountains and cell service can be spotty but calls can be made over the Wifi. We hope you can un-plug, get back to nature and relax at Shadow's Creek, like Shadow, the beloved Black Labrador retriever the lodge was named after.

You will have all you need at the lodge, but if you decide to venture out, there are a multitude of activities. Hiking, waterfalls, dining, shopping, golfing, boating and so much more awaits you. Some of our favorite activities include: sliding down Cashiers' Sliding Rock only minutes from the lodge, On the Side BBQ and petting the pups at the Cashiers Farmer's Market, hiking Whiteside mountain, taking a dip in Silver Run Falls and Whitewater Falls, U-pick dahlias at Scotlyn's Yard Nursery, coffee at Bucks Coffee Cafe at the Cashiers' crossroads, shopping and outdoor music in downtown Cashiers and Highlands, lunch at the Old Edwards Inn, events and golfing at the High Hampton Inn less than 10 minutes from the lodge, fishing at the Walhalla State Fish Hatchery…….

Please note - there is no central heat/air. We have a gas wall heater in the living room and 2 additional space heaters in each room.
