The Location: High Hemlock is located within the Highlands town limits near Harris Lake and behind Mountain Fresh Grocery. This is an area where locals come to walk/jog because it's a on a rare flat loop that is a quick 1/2 mile jaunt to Main Street, where all the shops and restaurants are located.

The Property: High Hemlock is located on a 1/2 acre fenced and wooded lot with a small mossy side yard. Hemlock groves, thick, old growth rhododendrons, and maples add privacy from the street. There are 4 rocking chairs on the front porch that are perfect for bird watching or listening to the peace and quiet or the occasional church bells.

The Cabin: As some of our renters once said, "walking into High Hemlock is like stepping into a Garden & Gun spread." Open the creaky screened door to the subtle smell of firewood and the rhododendrons blooming beside the front porch. The cabin is flooded with natural light. Finishes include all shiplap walls, wide-plank hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings with antique wood beams, local slate tile, and the original 1940's Wolf range in the kitchen.

The Layout: From the front porch, guests enter into a large open space that houses the living room with wood burning fireplace on the right, and the dining room for 6 on the left. Both ensuite bedrooms are off of the main living area (one with a king bed and the other with a queen bed). The Property: Vale Cottage is a carriage house that is located on a 2+ acre wooded property. Sitting at roughly 50 feet from the main house, Vale Cottage has a privacy wall and is elevated so guests can relax in the solitude of their own cozy space.

The Cabin: Vale Cottage is newly renovated in 2017 and has all wood ceilings, rustic wood beams, soaring 15' ceilings, and tons of natural light in the common areas. The Cabin: Vale Cottage is newly renovated in 2017 and has all wood ceilings, rustic wood beams, soaring 15' ceilings, and tons of natural light in the common areas. It has a screened porch that overlooks the beautiful wooded yards. Guests enjoy custom cabinetry in the kitchen, reclaimed vanities in the baths, and a NC slate walk-through shower.

The Layout: Access to Vale Cottage is through the cozy screened porch with rocking chairs for two. Guests enter into the large open common area that houses the kitchen with island seating for two, dining table for 4, and the cozy living room. To the right off the common areas are doors that lead to both queen bedrooms. The bathrooms are accessible from both bedrooms and share a shower, while each having their own vanity and toilet area.

The Area: Highlands, NC is the premier mountain destination in the Southeast. Lined with shopping, dining, museums and galleries, the bustling mountain village centering around Main Street is straight from a Norman Rockwell painting. Previously a summer/fall hotspot, it's quickly becoming a year-round destination. At 4,118 feet, it's one of the few temperate rain forests in North America, bringing botanists and nature lovers from all over the world.

Highlands is also a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. With an abundance of opportunities for biking, hiking, horseback riding, tubing, canoeing, fly fishing, and whitewater rafting, adventure-seekers will not find a more beautiful backdrop.

The Details: The living room and both bedrooms have flat screen TV's with cable and wifi. The kitchen is stocked with general kitchen essentials. All of our cabins are pet friendly with prior approval and a nominal pet fee. Vale Cottage is a carriage house, meaning it is over a garage for the main house. Renters have full privacy.

There is a 1200 ft of scenic gravel/unpaved road to property. It is easy access but can vary with with weather conditions. During heavy rains it may get muddy and a bit bumpy. This is not a paved road. See attached video of drive in.

We are deep in the woods. As expected, wildlife and insects are present on our property. You will enjoy watching the animals and discovering new life not seen in the suburbs.

Our Cabin has been completely renovated and has all new appliances and furnishings. All one level living with open floor plan, eat in Kitchen and a dining nook. The Cabin is easily accessible as it is on a paved, county maintained road, and is only a short distance from the beautiful Cullasaja Falls, as well as many other waterfalls in the area.
We love to sit on the back deck overlooking the creek and let the sound of the water melt our cares away.

If you’re into motorcycles, the roads in the area provide the most fun possible on two or three wheels. And the cabin has ample parking for your bike trailer.

The kitchen is fully equipped for all of your cooking needs if you choose to "eat in". There is also a propane grill on the deck and ample seating to enjoy the natural setting while you relax with a good meal or cup of coffee in the morning.

A newly renovated cabin that is minutes from Franklin and easy to reach, the real showstopper here is the gorgeous, year-round mountain view! Have dinner on the covered deck, cozy up around the fire pit, or just relax in the living room as you look out on the stunning landscape. The cabin is clean and tidy with fun, fresh decor. Central heat/AC, a gas fireplace, gas stove, gas grill, covered deck, cable tv, cornhole and outdoor firepit are among the amenities.

The cabin was recently renovated and almost all the furnishings are new. Gas stove, fireplace, and grill means a hassle-free experience you get to enjoy from the word "go." The decor is minimal but fun- vintage concert posters and architectural salvage combine to create a perfect backdrop to make all your cabincore dreams a reality.

The real star of the show, however, is the spacious covered deck with stunning year-round views of the picturesque Elijay community. Picture lowing cattle on the hillside, a bubbling creek, curvy mountain roads, and morning mist rising off the mountains. In the evening, enjoy the firepit with those same stunning views and strategic landscaping for additional privacy.

One of my favorite things about The Loft is the covered porch. No matter the weather, you can sit out here and take in those long-range mountain views, morning coffee, Western facing evening sunsets, or just listening to the rain. Inside, the open loft bedroom and vaulted ceilings give the space an airy, welcoming feel. There’s a woodstove for chilly nights, and the kitchen is stocked with the basics if you’d rather cook in than eat out.

You’re just a short drive from Franklin’s shops and restaurants, and it’s an easy trip over to Clayton or Rabun for even more exploring. Waterfalls, hiking trails, and scenic drives are all close by. Highlands is also a quick trip via Franklin or Dillard.

We’ve tried to make The Loft a comfortable place to land after a day of adventure, or just a quiet spot to do nothing at all. If you have questions about the area or want local recommendations, just ask. We want you to feel right at home.

It doesn't get more comfortable than Wyanoak. With high end décor and all the comforts and spaciousness of home, this cabin is perfectly cozy for a couple but it really shines as a place to entertain. It's in town Highlands, NC location is the perfect location for a getaway.

The Location: Wyanoak Lodge is located within the Highlands, NC town limits near Mirror Lake. It's just far enough from the beaten path that you will have privacy but close enough that dinner/shopping on Main Street is only a mile's drive away.

The Property: Wyanoak is located on a 1+ acre lot that's shielded from the street by a wall of thick evergreens. We own the adjacent wooded lot, giving the property complete privacy and beautiful views of nature. There is a small grass yard for frolicking and beautiful landscaping that is indigenous to the area.

The Cabin: Wyanoak Lodge has all high end finishes, including shiplap walls, wood ceilings, a double-sided fireplace with stone hearth, a spacious outdoor screened porch with double-sided fireplace, custom wormwood cabinetry.

The Layout: From the front door, guests enter into an open floor plan. The chef's kitchen is to the left with laundry and half bath. To the right is the cozy living room with double doors leading to the screened porch with wood-burning fireplace. On the other side of the living room is a double-sided fireplace that flows through to the dining room, which seats 6-8 and has a big, beautiful bank of windows. Off the kitchen is the lower level king master suite. This en-suite bathroom includes a stand up double shower, double vanities, make-up area, and toilet room. Off the living room, there is an operable door for privacy then stairs that ascend to the second story master suite. This king suite features a seating area for 2, a small winter view, a walk in closet large enough for a pack-n-play, and a bathroom with a tub/shower combo and toilet and a separate room with a double vanity area.

The Area: Highlands, NC is the premier mountain destination in the Southeast. Lined with shopping, dining, museums and galleries, the bustling mountain village centering around Main Street is straight from a Norman Rockwell painting. Previously a summer/fall hotspot, it's quickly becoming a year-round destination. At 4,118 feet, it's one of the few temperate rain forests in North America, bringing botanists and nature lovers from all over the world.

Highlands is also a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. With an abundance of opportunities for biking, hiking, horseback riding, tubing, canoeing, fly fishing, and whitewater rafting, adventure-seekers will not find a more beautiful backdrop.

The Details: The living room and both bedrooms have large flat screen TV's and fiber-optic cable and wifi. The kitchen has an under-counter wine fridge, toaster, drip coffee-maker is stocked with general kitchen essentials and then some. All of our cabins are pet friendly with prior approval and a nominal pet fee. There is an on-site carriage house that can be rented in conjunction with the house. If not rented, we reserve the right to rent the carriage house to another party- either way, the main house has complete privacy, as the house/screened porch face in the opposite direction and the only shared amenity is the driveway.

Our cabin is located 12 miles out of Franklin, NC near the Little Tennessee River. We are in easy traveling distance to whitewater rafting, kayaking both flat water and whitewater, fly fishing rivers, gem mining, zip lining, horseback riding, Deep Creek tubing, river tubing , The Appalachian Trail, hiking trails, waterfalls, Smoky Mountain Train excursions, Cherokee attractions/casino, Dollywood, Smoky Mountain National Forest, Blue Ridge Parkway, Elk viewings and Biltmore Estate in Asheville.

The space
Our cabin is on a quiet mountain 12 miles NW of Franklin, NC. Elevation about 2,000 ft. It has 2 bedrooms with queen beds to sleep 4 with 1 bath. There is also a queen sized Lazy-boy sofa bed to sleep 2 more guests. Our favorite feature is our covered back deck with table and chairs for quiet meals while being entertained by the Hummingbirds vying over our two feeders. Plus, it’s so nice to relax on the bench swing or nestled in the hammock swing while reading or just watching the sunset. And nothing beats the coziness of the wood-burning stove for those chilly evenings or mornings. We have lots of family and children’s games and puzzles in the armoire in the dining room and also children and adult books and dvd videos on the living room bookshelves. We also have Starlink wiFi with TV streaming services.

Guest access
Guests have sole access to the whole house with hiking sticks for walks on our mountain or other nearby trails. We also have a picnic basket with reusable dishes, cups and utensils for those outings near our many beautiful rivers and waterfalls. Our favorite place to picnic is at Deep Creek near Bryson City where there are tube rentals for tubing and picnic tables with grills, changing rooms and bathrooms. Bryson City is also where train excursions originate and a must see train museum with a huge working multiple model train layout. Be sure to check our Guidebook for plenty of things to see and do.

Other things to note
We don’t allow pets for the comfort and peace of mind for other guests who have pet allergies. We are also a non-smoking listing.

Because we are 12 miles from Franklin, NC, we message our confirmed guests complete information about local grocery stores so they can pick up groceries before arriving at “Higher Ground”.

Additional note: As further precautions during the pandemic we block off dates between guests to be able to clean more thoroughly. We use Lysol Laundry Sanitizer additive for all towels and washables. We also wash all bed linens including quilts, blankets, and even the mattress covers. We leave a container of alcohol wipes for our guests and liquid hand sanitizer. Of course we wipe down remotes, switches, door knobs and keypads with alcohol wipes too. We spray non-washable fabrics with Lysol disinfectant spray.

Rustic secluded little cabin with a gravel driveway, an outdated bathroom, and a big front porch looking out to the Appalachian Trail. Perfect for people wanting to get out into the woods. Your phone won’t work out here but the cabin has WiFi that works most of the time. The porch is a seductive spot at Love Cove Cabin. All that is audible is nature - and a lot of it. In cooler months you can balance the beauty of the porch with a gas fire in the rock fireplace. In summer months there is a portable AC that cools the cabin along with two large fans in the upstairs loft. The kitchen is fully equipped so you can stay onsite or venture to nearby Franklin or travel a little over an hour to Asheville, which remains in the top 10 towns to visit in the US.

You can enjoy the rustic charm found inside the cabin then step outside & take in the outdoors on the wrap-around porch. This is a true mountain cabin. Coming up to a property you will find a garage and laundry in the first floor and exterior stairs access the main floor. Main floor consists of the living room with a sleeper sofa and tv. Dining space with a table and four chairs. Kitchen with 2 more bar chairs, as well as a reading area with a variety of books. Master bedroom boasts a king bed and memory foam mattress and premium bedding with feather and down alternative pillows. Master bathroom is in the master bedroom and contains a bathtub with a shower. Guest half bathroom is in the hallway. A ladder pulls out and let’s you access the loft where you will find 2 twin beds with premium bedding and feather pillows. There are a few toys for kids to play upstairs. A variety of board games and balls are in the living room. Hammocks are here for your enjoyment and can be hung between trees. There are a few movie classics on dvd and vhs tape. There is also fire stick with Netflix and other streaming services available. (You will have to download a firestick app to control the firestick) keep in mind the internet is not very fast and may freeze up once in a while. But who needs it when you are here to enjoy the nature. The wrap around deck has plenty of seating and lights (just say “Alexa turn on outside lights”) You will see Mountain Views in the winter but they are somewhat restricted in summer by trees. By the creek you will find a fire pit area that is absolutely perfect to sit around and make s’mores while listening to the babbling sounds of the brook.
