- "This a beautiful place. The view is stunning…even prettier at night. We were there for the 4th of July and the fireworks all over the lake were gorgeous. There was a water main break down on the main road and our host kept us informed of any updates. There were plenty of stores to get bottled water and alll the locals were really friendly and accommodating. Went horseback riding at Brasstown Resort and kayaking on Lake Chatuge. Our only *oof* was the condition of the driveway after what I imagine was record rainfall. It was quite the off-road adventure for our boring Honda SUV. Our neighbors had a truck that was pulling a pontoon boat up and down with zero problems. The fireplace and string lights?! Doesn’t get more romantic!"

If you're looking for that private yet easily accessible cabin on a creek, this is it! It is perfectly situated above a large chattering creek that can be seen and heard while relaxing or dining on the porch. The picturesque stairway down through the tree canopy will take you to a picnic table, bench and firepit right beside the creek. Be sure to take your fishing pole because you're sure to see a rainbow trout or two on the 120 ft of shoreline right on the property. Perfect water playground for children of all ages. Inside the cabin, you’ll find a bedroom with a king bed, a bedroom with 2 twin beds and a single sleeper sofa in the living room. This offers plenty of room for 5 (or 6 if you don't mind sleeping on a couch). There are 2 full bathrooms. The living room has a roku tv and a DVD player with a large selection of DVDs. Both bedrooms have a tv and DVD player. Very good cell service over the entire property. The kitchen, dining area and living room are all openly connected so that all can be together. It's truly an amazing place!
You’ll find plenty of waterfalls in the area. There are several Appalachian trail trailheads nearby. Jackrabbit biking/hiking trail has over 13 miles of trails and is only 15 minutes away. Lake Chatuge offers boating, tubing and jet skiing. Hiawassee is only 5 miles away and Helen is 20 miles away so there are plenty of shopping and dining opportunities.
- "Close to activities but secluded enough to relax." - "My wife and I were looking to get away for an extended day/night and we were not disappointed. We had planned to go into the river but it had just rained and it was a little murky and flowing a little faster than it would normally. Instead, we just sat there and took a few cat naps which was equally needed and appreciated. :) The bed was comfortable and the accommodations were many and well explained. We would definitely come again and next time will bring our kids (they're grown, so we're not that mean :) )."

- "N/a" - "Our stay was absolutely amazing ! The host was super responsive and it was so quiet which we loved !" - "My wife and I had a great time staying at the cabin. Now my wife wants a hot tub, thanks alot....hahaha" - "If you are looking for a Rustic stay in the Tranquil mountains with a Great View, Look no Further! Its just a few short minutes from Hiawassee, Helen and Brasstown. Two Large beds downstairs and 4 singles up in the loft so it can easily accommodate a large family or two medium fams. There are little things that you can be critical of, but these things actually add to the character of the "Cabin in the Woods" feel. The one thing worth noting is the stairs up to the loft are very steep and may be a challenge for younger or older walkers. The host was quick to communicate and was very accommodating leading up to and during our stay. Overall we enjoyed our visit and would like to return here for a future stay!"

- "The cabin was all we hoped for. the property was fantastic will stay again" - "Cutest cabin and beautiful landscape set back in the trees away from the highway. Not too far from the highway but far enough to not be bothered by traffic. We were sad that we didn't see any bears. Hoyt is very responsive to messages and questions. Super easy check in and out. There is another review that states how difficult the driveway is. Not true!! Driveway is self-explanatory. No trouble driving into the cabin or out. It rained every day we were there except for one day and the day we were leaving. Even in the rain, this property is beautiful. My only caution is if you cannot tolerate an extremely firm bed, bring an egg crate or memory foam topper with you. We purchased a memory foam topper from Walmart. HOPE YOU SEE BEARS :)"

- "The cabin was perfect. Hummingbirds, cardinals and other beautiful native birds enjoyed the feeders on the porch as we enjoyed watching them. The mountain views were peaceful and starting our day and ending our day on the porch was one of our favorite moments. The location also lends itself to easily visit surrounding towns, waterfalls and hiking paths. The cabin had everything we needed. We are looking forward to returning to this sweet spot."

Unplug and Unwind. Trail Nut Cabin is unapologetically nostalgic and we love to share it with those who are looking for the unique, undaunted, timeless treasures. In the spirit of The High Hampton Inn and Old Lake Rabun, we are the forgotten cove of Moody Hollow. An exceptional chance to experience life the way it should be. A few miles from High Shoals Falls and the Appalachian Trail. Our rustic authenticity is not for everyone, but for those who get it, Moody Hollow will steal your heart.
The space
Circa 1960s era cabin has been restored to preserve its vintage flavor. Many of the furnishings are original, and afford a terrific back drop for an authentic aesthetic in the tradition of the Great Camps of the Northeast, or the rustic weekender you remember as a child. Between Dick's Creek and Unicoi Gap on the Appalachian Trail, Moody Hollow is just over the mountain from Lake Burton. We're at the foot of the Tray Mountain Wilderness Area, within 5 miles of Brasstown Bald (the highest point in Georgia). Though we're only 90 miles north, Moody Hollow is generally 13-15 degrees cooler than Atlanta so air conditioning is rarely needed. We've got fans for the hottest summer days but at night it cools off quickly so pack smart. It can get chilly even in July. For a greater sense of flavor search "Moody Hollow" on Pinterest.
Guest access
AT&T cell service and wifi are available. You won't even find a black and white T.V. as we prefer not to disrupt the sounds of the crackling fire and the flowing mountain stream. You can unplug completely and get back to the real meaning of "Getting Away from it All".
Other things to note
Our place is VERY pet friendly. That means if you have allergies, our cabin may not be ideal.

Two master bedroom suites make this place perfect. A loft upstairs has 2 twin beds and its own bathroom too. Escape the city!
This beautiful forest and creekside cabin is fully turnkey. One master bedroom is on the first floor with full bath and kingsize bed. The fireplace is also on the first floor. The master suite on the lower level also has a kingsize bed and full bath. There is a loft bedroom with two twin beds and a full bath. The forest setting is amazing with treehouse type feelings from the spacious wrap around deck. It's a wonderful feeling to be living in the trees. The property also has a park-like trail down to a picturesque creek with peek-a-boo views of the adjacent pastures and a rustic fire pit area for those smore sessions. It feels like you are in your own state park. The trail to the creek and firepit may be difficult for elderly or out-of-shape persons. On a recent trip we saw deer, wild turkeys, rabbits, and humming birds on the property.
As stated in the listing, one of our family members has severe allergies and animals are not allowed. This is a non-smoking property including in and outside the cabin.
