Miss Jo’s is one of three options at Sandy Cut Cabins. It’s a cozy one bedroom log cabin with a large private back deck. Miss Jo’s Cabin is just 2 miles from historic downtown Saluda and conveniently located beside part of the Sand Cut Pass railroad. Unfortunately, the train no longer travels the Saluda Grade but guests enjoy hiking along the old tracks for a day of exploring the quaint little town of Saluda. If you’re the adventurous type, Saluda offers Green River Adventures right downtown as well as The Gorge zip line. Just one mile past the cabin you’ll find Pearson Falls waterfall. It’s a moderate hike and enjoyable for children and “children at heart”. There are many day trip options in the area including the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, DuPont State Forest which has several waterfalls, and the Tryon International Equestrian Center. Please keep in mind that being surrounded by nature includes pesky insects and bugs and occasionally they get inside the cabin.
The fire pit and overlook bench are shared spaces. The driveway is steep but most vehicles can manage it at a slow steady pace.
- "Loved the area and the cabin. Amazing getaway from the world." - "Everything I needed in a cabin, instead of a hotel room. The Cabin is located in a beautiful, isolated countryside, and the solitude is something I love. If you’re visiting to go to Asheville, or the race track, stay here in Saluda, NC, at Miss Jo’s Cabin. It’s a quick drive to and from!" - "Super quiet, comfortable bed, very clean. Enjoyed our stay! Loved the hot tub!"

Get away from it all. Relax, listen to the sounds of nature and enjoy seasonal views & fresh mountain air from this welcoming cabin. Convenient to many wilderness, architectural, civic & other charming attractions. We invite you to visit and enjoy!
Enjoy the breeze and view from this light-filled cabin on top of a ridge. Walk to trails in the NC Wildlife Game Lands or just enjoy strolling around the gravel roads of our neighborhood, Piney Mountain -- keep an eye out for deer, birds and other wildlife. Many trails, waterfalls and outdoor adventures in the nearby area.
Dogs are welcome, but not on the furniture. Must get owner approval and pay pet fee.
The cabin sits on a 4.25-acre wooded lot. Enjoy a beautiful mountain view year-round and 360-degree winter mountain views. Whether you're looking for some family time or a chance to connect with friends, this place has been set up to accommodate. Floor plan is open with a bedroom and bathroom on each level. Hang out on one of the porches or deck, watch a movie in the loft, grab a book, or choose a fun board game. The house is set up to make you so comfortable you won't want to leave.
But if you choose to venture out and explore, historic downtown Saluda is very charming with excellent food, art and live music. And there are lots of day-trip options including:
Sky Top Orchard, Zirconia
Hendersonville
Tryon International Equestrian Center
Lake Lure
Asheville
Chimney Rock
"The mountains are calling, and I must go." - John Muir
Other things to note
The roads within our development are gravel and our driveway is steep. 4WD/AWD vehicles are necessary in times of inclement weather. They are not necessary year-round but more easily navigate getting up the driveway.
There is no cable...only a smart TV with a DVD player and some DVDs.
- "Just delightful, it was like living in a tree house. Impressed with how well stocked it was. The basement was a nice surprise to store our bikes, they even had a bicycle pump! Owner is very conscious and a great, very responsive communicator. It is in the mountains and does take a bit to find a gas station or grocery store. That is part of the beauty, and charm, just plan ahead. Lots to do in the area." - "Spent a quick birthday celebration weekend up from the Raleigh area and it was perfect! Convenient hiking right from the cabin, easy skip over to Saluda and Hendersonville, and a perfect place to call home for a few! Alison is super easy to work with and made sure everything went smoothly. She was responsive and attentive before our arrival with recommendations (The Purple Onion in Saluda did not disappoint!) and helpful through a minor snag upon arrival to the cabin. The directions were easy follow, even with a road washout due to all the rain in the area. The hiking was a bit of a bushwhack downhill (option 2 in the book) with several downed trees to navigate (again likely due to the recent heavy and consistent rainfall) but would do it again and never felt like we were off trail or lost whatsoever. We did the option 1 ridgeline hike too and while enjoyable is probably better in the winter when the leaves are off the trees...we went until the trail started markedly downhill and turned around - about 1 mile out from the cabin. Had a nice birthday dinner at Brandy's on Main down in Hendersonville on Saturday night and even managed to enjoy a bit of live music in the square before heading back home. The screened porch seemed to always have a breeze and the view from the hammock is amazing and sitting and reading on the uncovered deck was also nice (also with amazing views). We will certainly be back to the area and would absolutely stay here again!"

Crooked Cabin is our largest option at Sandy Cut Cabins. Privacy abounds at Crooked Cabin as it is tucked away in the middle of 15 acres of mountain land. Land surrounded by a private garden club which helps to keep the serenity of the property in tack.
Crooked Cabin is located at Sand Cut Pass, one of the infamous locations of notorious train derailments in years past. Now that the train has ceased to run the tracks make for excellent hiking; either up to Saluda or down to Melrose where you can stop back by and enjoy the beauty of Pearson Falls or just sit back and relax in the hot tub on the large deck and listen to nature. Please keep in mind that being surrounded by nature includes pesky insects and bugs that occasionally get inside the cabin. We have 3 secluded cabins on the property.
Be sure to keep an eye out for local wildlife for sightings of several different animals have been known to frequent the area.
While only a short distance from downtown Saluda, once at Crooked Cabin, you will feel as though you are miles from civilization.
The fire pit and the overlook bench are shared spaces. The driveway is steep but most vehicles manage it with a consistent pace without hesitation.
- "Thanks for a wonderful stay!" - "We very much enjoyed our stay in this cabin in the woods. Very private and peaceful. Cabin was very clean upon our arrival. Proximity to Pearson Falls and Saluda Bakery are a real plus, a 1+ mile drive to each. The driveway is extremely steep along the paved front portion, but we had no problem making it up. We had no problem sleeping, but did find the first floor bed mattress a little worn. Might be time for a replacement. Internet and television both worked fine for our limited evening use. We would certainly return to "Crooked Cabin" for a future visit."

Let the sounds of the waterfall lull you to sleep at Whispering Falls Cabin! This log cabin on a private 15 acres seems miles away from it all, but it is only 3 miles to downtown Saluda and 5 miles to downtown Tryon.

Sit on the rocking chair front porch for the best sunset views, while the back deck and screened in porch off the master bedroom are the best places for sunrise. The deck is also the best place to listen to the sounds of the spectacular waterfall located behind the house (not on property.) Sometimes the falls are a whisper, but after a good rain, they roar!
The house has a soaring great room complete with stone fireplace, a coffee bar and a vintage canoe as a chandelier! A fully stocked kitchen and large dining table is perfect for family gatherings or a group of friends. Three bedrooms and two baths on the main level sleep up to six. The cozy sitting area has been designed for fireside conversation, but there is also a 65" smart tv for movie watching or streaming. WE NOW HAVE BLAZING FAST FIBER INTERNET SERVICE!

- "A wonderfully quiet and secluded cabin very near the town of Saluda. The house is 1/4 of a mile off the main road. There's are two great porches, front and back, for looking out over the mountains without any other house in sight. (Great birdwatching spots!) Three main bedrooms on the 1st floor. Bunk bed room downstairs gives kids their own space. Trips into the town of Saluda--for breakfast at Wild Flour Bakery or dinner at the Purple Onion or Azalea Bistro--were very easy. Nearby hiking at Pearson's Falls is fabulous. Also not too far of a drive to hiking off of the Saluda Mountains Passage trail. All in all, a great house with very attentive and helpful owners!"

- "The cabin was exactly as advertised. The communication from the host prior to our travels made the trip stress free. We will definitely stay again." - "Absolutely perfect cabin for our stay! We will be back again!" - "First of all, I was impressed with the well thought out info from the owner. From how to get there, to different features of the cabin, to things to do in the area. Invaluable! The road to the cabin is very steep and I understand the recommendation for AWD or 4WD. I was able to make it though I'm my Nissan Rough (small SUV, front wheel drive), just had to start with some speed to have the momentum. The cabin itself was bigger than I expected and very nice. I thought the 2 beds in the loft were twins from the pic, but they are doubles, so this place could easily sleep 6 (but only one bathroom for 6 people might get interesting lol). The kitchen has everything you might need for anything you want to cook. We brought a cheese grater, but they even had that. Beds were very comfortable. Small gas grill ran out of gas right after I lit it, but they even had a spare full tank right there so I was able to easily switch it out. VERY cozy and comfortable, would definitely stay again!"

Come enjoy the beauty of the Blue Ridge with your stay at The Treehouse Cabin in Saluda. EXTENDED STAYS PREFFERRED AND DISCOUNTED. This 1890s cabin sits at 2,100 feet above the private lake community of Lake Hosea. The fully screened wrap around porch is a great way to relax after your day of adventure, shopping, or just hanging out at the lake. The quaint town of Saluda is less than 3 miles down the mountain with numerous restaurants and shops. Although you will feel like you are away from everything, the cabin is equipped with WiFi and a Roku TV to keep you and your family dialed in and entertained. Please note: the internet is DSL. I have never had a problem with internet use as well as streaming channels. I am a chord cutter, I do not have cable. The Treehouse was built in the 1890s and has a rich history. Updated with modern conveniences the home includes a loft master bedroom with sitting area and work space and an alcove with a twin bed. Note that although the cabin features traditional A-frame ceiling, the loft ceiling is extremely tall and you will not have to crouch down like so many other cabins in this area. The cozy living room has a comfy large couch and two plush chairs. The Treehouse has a full bath upstairs including an antique claw foot tub with wrap around custom shower ring creating a large space to enjoy a refreshing shower.
The loft and the second bedroom, a sun porch with a sun splashed style with separate entrance, have new queen sized gel mattresses. The cabin sleeps 5 comfortably. There is a small half bath/water closet is steps away. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, pots and pans, spice rack, flatware, a block knife set, coffee maker, microwave, and quality cookware. Full coffee and tea set is provided. The cabin has a charcoal grill on the back outdoor deck. Lake Hosea is a private community for residents only and you certainly feel that in the secluded woods as you enter the neighborhood. The lake is a wonder for swimming, fishing and non motorized craft (many floats provided). Be sure to watch out for the numerous ducks that live here – we all love them and care for them as part of our family! Please be sure to keep things inside and up and away. These are, after all, the mountains and the wild things live here, too!
PLEASE NOTE! Cell reception is not great in Saluda. Best bets are T Mobile, ATT, and Metro PCS.
Verizon is the most unreliable. Yet if you have trouble making calls at the cabin jump to WiFi calling, it is pretty reliable for all providers. Messaging always works.

- "We had such a nice stay at Cabin Fever! The Bird’s Nest was newly refreshed with furniture and bedding!" - "It was fine. I hope this place still exists. " - "My daughter and I stayed at The Bird’s Nest for the weekend. We had a mother/daughter event and this place was just what we needed. My daughter loved the jetted bathtub and the fun swing on the porch. The playground was really neat, too. So many fun things there. The place was comfy cozy and just what we needed for the two of us. The drive in was so sweet with string lights lighting the way. A lovely place for a weekend retreat. We played Uno while hearing the night time critters and the little stream nearby. We cannot wait to have another weekend at The Bird’s Neat. "

- "Love the area. Hate the queen size beds. Didn’t know about the size of the beds or stairs to the master. Could not use the chairlift which would have been nice for two people in their 70s. It was locked and no info about it. Don’t like that I couldn’t watch my Braves on tv but loved the view. The refrigerator needs a new filter. It was quiet and peaceful but wasn’t as comfortable as I would have liked." - "Loved the view! Grass could've been mowed but there is not much grass anyway. Water main broke first day but was repaired the next morning."

- "Great cabin- probably the nicest cabin we have ever rented! Will return to do the Zipline!!" - "Property was great. Good location, great condition, well equipped and spotlessly clean." - "Beautiful home in a great area. Thank you!" - "The cabin was very clean and had a well appointed kitchen with nice appliances. The cabin is smaller but enough room for 2/3. Quiet peaceful area. We found the furniture less than comfortable i.e. sofas, outdoor seating. We are in our 60's and like comfortable seating, tho. Cabin is about 20 min from Saluda, 40 min. from downtown Hendersonville. Rain shower was great."

- "Nice cabin with all the amenities you need, close to lots of outdoor activities and restaurants too. Really enjoyed our stay." - "We had a great stay at your South Forks cabin. The cabin itself was charming and provided everything that we needed. The bed was very comfortable and the linens & towels felt luxurious. Mornings spent having coffee on the front porch, surrounded by trees, so very peaceful. The nighttime lighting was charming. We enjoyed the walking paths. We were close to Saluda and Hendersonville. Communication with the host was easy. We did have an occasional problem with the narrow gravel roads, at one point meeting an oncoming car (who I believe was heading out the entrance road) and neither of us had room to pass, resulting in us having to back down the road to allow the other person to pass, which was a bit tricky. I believe the entrance & exit roads are marked but the signs are hard to see. We would definitely stay with you again!"

- "We came for a bike race over one of the coldest weekends on record. The first night, temperatures were close to 0 F and the icy wind had no trouble cooling the cabin through its numerous cracks. (no doubt that the cabin is fine in summer -- but not built for harsh winter.) We could not get warm enough to take off our parkas. The drama continued with my son being awakened by mice in the walls of the loft (we should have known something was up when we saw the numerous mouse traps in the loft area). He is 14, but preferred to sleep in the master bedroom with us, where he was warmer and free of the sounds of mice. (So much for renting a 2 bedroom.) The next day, we returned from spending 8 frigid hours outside to realize there was no hot water in the shower. My husband immediately diagnosed the problem as a faulty mixing valve, but the manager sent to investigate (3 hr later) had to make several phone calls to make the same conclusion. He could not find the part locally (and apparently had no desire to call a plumber), and informed us that there would be no fix during our stay. The manager instead offered us 20% off the nightly rate. Considering the fees charged, this amounted to 15% off the total bill. IMO, this was not adequate to cover the inconvenience during this record cold. The other issue was communication about rules and check out procedures. Rules posted on the wall didn't match those online. I wish I could give a better review, but it was not a great experience."

- "The property didn’t match the pictures and that was disappointing. I picked the original property due to the pictures and the cozy feel it offered. Once at the site, the cabin was completely different and when I questioned the difference the host was defensive and dismissive. She was very unfriendly throughout our stay and I avoided any further communication. We needed to stay another night, but chose to look elsewhere in the area rather than attempt a conversation with her again. "

Welcome to the Treehouse, sitting 2,100 feet from the private community of Lake Hosea. It is less than 3 miles from Saluda with it's numerous restaurants and shops . Saluda is also a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts!
The Treehouse is loaded with modern conveniences for your comfort while retaining its unique rustic feel. After your day of shopping, outdoor adventures or swimming and fishing at the lake relax in one of the many sitting areas on the screened wraparound porch.
The space
The Neighborhood:
Lake Hosea is a private community for residents and their guests only. The lake is a wonder for
swimming, fishing and non
motorized boating. (floats and small inflatable raft provided).
Please watch for the large family of ducks living on the lake. They are long time residents. We consider them family too!
The Cabin:
The Treehouse is over 120 years old. It is rustic and will transport guests to a simpler, less complicated time. It has been lovingly updated yet retains its original charm. A large loft has a new gel queen bed, sitting area with workspace and a Roku TV. The full bath has an antique clawfoot tub with a custom made copper curtain ring that gives tons of room for your shower . (please note this is a step in tub). There is a large bathmat in tub, if you look under mat you will find a patch where the glaze has rubbed off tub, about the size of a quarter. It is not a hole!! and what would a 130 year old cabin be without some character? Tub is fine for taking a bath. It is scoured between every guest.
The cozy living room downstairs has comfy couch, plush wingback chairs, a propane heater, baseboard heat and buck stove. Another Roku TV lets you get plugged in and entertained. The downstairs has a half bath. It is small, commode only, with sink steps away in kitchen. It is mainly for guests to use at night who are sleeping in the downstairs Sun Suite.
The sun plashed Sun Suite has a new queen gel mattress, a separate entrance and windows everywhere giving the guest a view to a gorgeous mountain sunrise. The cabin has all you need for a comfy stay from Egyptian cotton sheets, plush bath towels and washcloths to a contemporary kitchen. There is a spice rack, oil and vinegar and many other kitchen staples, including full coffee and tea service.
Please keep items up and and away. After all these are the mountains your caution and comfort are key!

Cozy one bedroom log cabin with large private back deck and hot tub.
While being surrounded by nature can be an enjoyable and a relaxing break from hectic day to day lifestyles, please realize that this cabin is in the woods and we do have carpenter bees and camel crickets along with some ants. We strive to keep the pests at bay but they are part of mountain life.
Shared spaces include the fire pit along with the overlook bench.
The space
The cabin is located in the woods with 2 other cabins, each secluded from the others. Since it’s in the woods, wildlife may visit on occasion. Please remember that they are wild. The driveway is steep at the bottom but levels off. You may need low gear but keep it consistent without hesitation and you should be fine. The cabin is on the left as you get to the top of the driveway.
Guest access
Guests have access to the entire cabin as well as the shared fire pit along with the overlook bench.
Other things to note
We’re located in the mountains so the driveway is very steep. However, most guests manage without much trouble. Trucks/hybrids have more trouble with the incline. AWD isn’t required to drive up.
We aren’t responsible for interruptions of WiFi service.
The hot tub is not a pool and splashing water out can damage the unit. Let us know if the level gets down to the filter so we can avoid damage. Please don’t touch the warm button which changes the settings. If this happens, the temperature drops and after a couple of days the water will turn green and need to be drained. It takes several hours to reheat.

The space
This cabin is located in the woods with 2 other cabins, each secluded from the others. Since it’s in the woods, wildlife may visit on occasion. Please remember that they aren’t tame. The driveway is steep at the bottom but levels off. The fire pit is a shared space as well as the overlook bench area. The loft above the kitchen has an air conditioner which can be turned on/off with the switch at bottom of stairs. The hot water heater holds 19 gallons, so long “hot” showers back to back aren’t recommended. The driveway is steep at the bottom, you may need low gear, but keep it consistent without hesitation and you should be fine. Continue to follow the driveway to the end for Carra’s Cabin. The lockbox is on the end of the cabin by the hot tub and the key fits the french door.

SEASONS
The area has the best climate one could ask for. Moderate temperatures most of the year allow for great outdoor enjoyment. We have great seasons in the mountains of Saluda. Spring is bright green and filled with wildflowers. Summers invites visitors to the creeks and swimming hole at Little Bradley Falls, a short hike from the cabin. Fall colors are breathtaking. Time you're visit to harvest fresh raspberries from the bushes bordering the property. Or enjoy delicious pears from two large trees in front of the log cabin.
There are AC/heat units on each floor to keep guests cool during the warmest weeks of the year, warm on even the coolest nights. Heat is also available from gas heaters. Best of all, there's a great wood burning stove for that authentic cabin feel.

Vacation at this quaint 1930’s rambler-style cabin nestled on the banks of a babbling creek in the woods along scenic Pearson Falls Rd. The location features spectacular hiking trails, mountain biking, waterfalls, and secluded fishing holes in historic Saluda, NC.
The gigantic screened porch has room for the entire gang to relax, play games, or just listen to the birds and stream. Interior decor is a hodgepodge of offbeat antiques and original works of art from the owner's friends and family.
The space
September and October 2024 dates have just been released by the owner. This home is now available for your last-minute trip.
MOUNTAIN AIR - The screen porch has room for the entire group to relax, play games, sip a favorite beverage, or just listen to the birds and creek with a good book. If there’s a chill in the air, move the festivities down to the primitive campground/firepit. We recommend 88.7 WNCW on the radio dial or online streaming. Mewdlic, in the quaint row of shops at the top of the road, offers an ample selection of wine and local craft beer to-go.
CABIN COMFORT - The owners (with two kids) purchased this retreat in 2017 for their own enjoyment. They visit monthly, and plan to do so for decades to come. Guests appreciate the extra love this home receives. The décor includes a hodgepodge of offbeat local antiques, original works of art, and surviving finishes from the original home. All seven beds are Charleston Mattresses®, handcrafted specifically for the cabin. And all systems have been upgraded since 2020, including new central heating and air in 2023.
DOWNTOWN FUN - Historic Downtown Saluda’s shops, galleries, restaurants, and cafés are all within 1.5 miles of the cabin (take a left out of the driveway). Walk, bike, or drive to Azalea Bistro, Back Alley Barn Tavern, Green River BBQ, Green River Brew Depot, Green River Eddy’s Tap Room & Grill at Saluda Outfitters, Mewdlic, The Purple Onion, The SPOT Taqueria, Wakey Monkey, Ward’s Grill, and Wildflour Bakery & Café.
FALLING WATER EVERYWHERE - Take a right out of the driveway (bike, hike, or drive) to travel along Joel’s Creek and meet the North Pacolet River. Along the way, enjoy a small waterfall on the right (approx. 0.3 miles). Then pass through the Saluda Grade Railroad Tunnel (approx. 0.9 miles) to reach the Missing Forty hiking trail (approx. 1.2 miles from cabin). This trail is marked with a small sign, wooden railing and stairs leading to the creek. Continuing down Pearson Falls Road, past the Missing Forty, cross over the bridge where the creek converges with the North Pacolet River (approx. 1.3 miles). Along this stretch there are several trails leading down to a mix of pools and rushing currents, perfect for swimming or fishing. The North Pacolet River is hatchery supported trout waters. Privacy abounds at Sandy Cut Cabins Crooked Cabin, only a short two miles from downtown Saluda. The cabin is tucked away in 15 acres of mountain land. While being surrounded by nature can be an enjoyable and relaxing break from hectic day to day life, please realize this cabin is in the woods and we have carpenter bees and camel crickets along with some ants. We strive to keep pests at bay but they are part of mountain life.
Shared spaces include the designated fire pit and the overlook bench.
Guest access
Guests have access to the whole cabin and the outdoor fire pit along with the overlook bench.
Other things to note
We’re located in the mountains and the driveway is very steep. However, most guests manage without much trouble. Trucks/hybrids have more trouble with the incline. AWD isn’t required to drive up.
We aren’t responsible for interruptions of WiFi service.
