Cozy creek-side cottage is tucked away in an easily accessible, yet secluded, mountain setting surrounded by hemlock and rhododendron. It's very centrally situated, only 10-30 minutes away from the areas you're most likely to visit -- Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Black Mountain, Hendersonville and Asheville.

Just like the guests that keep coming back for over a decade, you'll find the cottage is the perfect place to unwind creek-side after enjoying everything the surrounding areas have to offer. Far away from the crowds yet close enough to everything, this IS your home away from home.

The cottage features a comfortable open floor plan interior. You'll find a fully equipped kitchen, comfy king size bed in spacious bedroom, washer/dryer, and double sinks in the bathroom. Crack the bedroom windows and listen to the soothing sounds of the babbling brook as you fall asleep.

Outside, you'll find lots of options to relax. Guests love to swing in the screened-in porch while listening to the tiny cascading waterfall, bask on the sun deck, enjoy a beverage while rocking on the private front porch, lounge on the hammock in the garden, or warm up by the fire pit while taking in the cool evening air.

GOOD NEWS: We now have high-speed Internet!! We were among the first customers to get online via a new fiber optic backbone installed in 2023, delivering plenty of bandwidth for all you Internet needs.

Guests are welcome to use the Amazon Echo device on the kitchen counter to access music, news, weather, etc. through Alexa voice commands or are free to turn it off during their stay. Be advised there are outdoor surveillance cameras monitoring the entrances for security purposes only.

Easily accessed off scenic Hwy 9, the property is located just 10-15 minutes from boating and hiking at Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, and only 20-30 minutes from downtown Black Mountain, Asheville, Hendersonville, Biltmore estate, and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

In case you're wondering how far shops, gas stations, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. are from the cottage, here's is a bit more info of what you'll find nearby along the routes to the nearby towns of Black Mountain, Hendersonville, and Lake Lure. All three towns are special in their own way and are roughly equidistant from the cottage but in different directions. Each area has its own personality with unique restaurants, eclectic shops, and breweries/wineries. You should be able to use your GPS to map any of the places I've named below, but there's so much more to see than I can possibly name here.

BLACK MOUNTAIN (NORTH): The exquisitely quaint,
casual, and pet-friendly town of Black Mountain (https://exploreblackmountain.com) has a really neat and walkable downtown with its inviting Town Square, unique shops - including an authentic old-fashioned general store, art galleries, and repurposed train depot - museums, coffee shops, breweries, and dozens of restaurants, all just 25 minutes from the cottage. A short drive from downtown is the picturesque Lake Tomahawk Park and the hiking trails of Montreat. About a mile or so before you reach the downtown area, you find Artisan Gourmet Market and an Ingles gas and grocery store, which are about 13 miles (23 minutes) from the cottage. The town of Black Mountain is a must see, but it's just a bit tedious to drive to because of the twists and turns you'll find heading northbound on beautiful Hwy 9. The road is fully paved, impeccably maintained, and fun to drive, but less convenient to navigate. Roughly mid-way along the route to downtown, about 12 minutes from the cottage, you'll find the welcoming Straightaway Cafe & Pub, a local favorite worth checking out.

CHIMNEY ROCK / LAKE LURE (SOUTH, THEN EAST): Just 10 minutes from the cottage you'll find the charming Chimney Rock Village (https://www.chimneyrock.org), which boasts a nice variety of shops and restaurants, as well as a brewery, a winery, and the scenic Rocky Broad riverwalk, all surrounding the spectacular hiking of Chimney Rock State Park. If you continue through Chimney Rock Village eastbound on hwy 64 for another five minutes or so, you'll see Lake Lure's scenic Flowering Bridge, Washburn Marina and Morse park, all of which are a must see. Continuing past the marina, the drive will become a bit more windy and scenic as you circle the lake on route to an Ingles gas and grocery store on the far southeast end of Lake Lure, roughly 11 miles (23 minutes) from the cottage. If you're into horses, driving another 22 minutes south on hwy 9 and then east on hwy 74 will bring you to the amazing Tryon International Equestrian Center, with all sorts of family-friendly events going on year round.

HENDERSONVILLE (SOUTH, THEN WEST): The closest and most conveniently accessed gas station is 10 miles away from the cottage heading west (southwest) on hwy 64, where you'll find an Exxon right beside Griffin's Grocery & Cafe. Continuing westbound along hwy 64 another 20-25 minutes will bring you to Downtown Hendersonville (https://www.romanticasheville.com/hendersonville.htm), a chic and casual-upscale area that we just love. As the second largest downtown in Western North Carolina (second only to Asheville), downtown Hendersonville has all sorts of shops, restaurants, galleries and even a pinball museum along the pedestrian-friendly half-mile Main Steet, as well as lots of other eats and breweries less than a mile away. It's well worth the trip if you've got the time. Three miles shy of the downtown Hendersonville area on hwy 64, you'll find the largest concentration and assortment of recognizable franchise shopping center stores and chain restaurants, as well as numerous fast food options. You'll also find in that area multiple groceries and gas stations, all about 15 miles (25 minutes) from the cottage, including (you guessed it) another Ingles grocery store.

NOTE: It's worth mentioning that, in terms of ease of driving, I prefer going to Hendersonville to run errands because there are fewer twists and turns compared to the drives into Black Mountain and Lake Lure. Honestly, though, I look forward to visiting each of these areas every time I'm at the cottage and I know you will, too.

September 27, 2024, is a day we will never forget here in WNC. Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc to this area of our mountains. Slowly but surely, we are rebuilding.
Grandma's Cabin was miraculously spared and is now up and running.
We do need to let everyone know that the road conditions are rough in some parts. The town of Chimney Rock is closed to the public while being rebuilt, Despite the devastation there is still so much beauty in this area in the land and people.

This estate is a little piece of heaven with natural laurels, rhododendrons and even some hard-to-find wildlife which has been known to visit throughout the year so don't be surprised to see a mama deer with her twin fawns or a wild turkey.

Don't forget to visit the landmark cider mill just minutes away and shop the quaint stores of downtown Chimney Rock. Tryon International Equestrian is approximately 35 minutes from cabin. Black Bear Snow Tubing is located about 7 miles from cabin.

All linens, blankets and towels are provided and we have an extra large Washer & Dryer for your use. We also have hair dryers for your use while visiting. The custom made (from reclaimed bowling alley lanes) dinning table really seats 16, there are 3 stools for seating at the kitchen bar and extra chairs and tables if needed for family gatherings. Steps from the cabin is a shed that has firewood for your use in the winter months. For outdoor grilling, we have a propane gas BBQ grill for you to use. SMART TV'S in all areas and bedrooms with unlimited YouTubeTV with tons of local and cable channels, and all the apps you expect, that you can access with your login/pw to use. There are Flat Screen TVs located in the family room, the lower level recreation area and ALL 5 Master Suites. The Wi-Fi Internet is provided through Sky Runner and works great for surfing the web, checking emails, and streaming. The house has a landline for unlimited U.S. telephone calls. Cell service depends on your carrier, but Verizon cellular service works best for mobile phones. We also have an outdoor gas fire table.

Friends ask why we are renting such an amazing log cabin. After living in New York and South Florida for over 30 years, our family decided to move to the enchanting town of Asheville, NC to raise our children. We still love living in Asheville, but we wanted a mountain escape that our family could enjoy from time to time. After years of searching we found the perfect Mountain Top site to build our dream vacation and eventual retirement home that is in a gated community with paved roads and some of the most breathtaking views in North Carolina. The best part was that is less than 30 minutes to Asheville. So in 2018 we built the most amazing log cabin vacation home in the perfect spot with 360 degree views as far as the eye can see. Since we live so close and enjoy it all the time, we decided to share this incredible log cabin so other families can enjoy it as much as we do.

We keep our availability calendar up to date. Please check our calendar before inquiring about availability. We usually respond to all email inquiries right away or within a few hours at most. If you inquire by phone and there is no answer, please leave a message with the dates requested and any other details and we will get back to you as soon as possible. We have a 3 night minimum requirement in the off-season (Sept, Nov-May excluding holidays and spring break) and a 3-7-night minimum in-season (Memorial Day through Labor Day and October) and all holidays and spring break. Please do not inquire for less than 3 nights.

- "Nice n relaxing..even the big bear was cool to c" - "Property was well maintained and the Cabin just as nice. Beautiful and well made cabin with all the amenities (in working condition) and for once a clean hot tub. Even after a long hot hike in Pisgah or along the BRP, relaxing in the hot tub was a great way to take in the outdoor and frolicking creek. Black Mtn is neat little town and has everything you need without visiting downtown Asheville. Lastly, it was a pleasure to meet the host Mike out on the mountain road working hard and I could tell he takes pride in these properties. Very responsive as well. Truly a great place to detach and enjoy the outdoors."

- "The cabin is fantastic only surpassed by the setting!! We look for a vacation for our dogs each year, preferably near water for them to play in; this was PERFECT!!! The cabin itself is very comfortable, well laid and appointed very nicely; above most other rentals we've stayed in the past. The kitchen had everything you need including, a rental rarity, SHARP KNIVES!!! I cook quite a bit when on vacation so this is especially important to me and was a nice bonus! There is an oversized stone covered WOOD Burning Fireplace indoors that can be used from October 1 to March 31. You can use the outdoor fireplace year round. The wrap around deck, with seating for 16+, has couches and chaise lounges are excellent for entertaining. They also provide year round peace and quiet while listening to the sounds of nature. There is an outdoor 6 person HOT TUB on the lower level that affords privacy. The GAME ROOM is fun for the young and old alike. We have a large screen TV for sports lovers in the Family Room and Basement Recreation area. If you like foosball, Ping-Pong, board games or tons of books, we have that too. Our gated community is entirely paved so you will not need an all-wheel or four-wheel drive car. The oversized driveway is not steep and can easily accommodate up to 8+ cars.

COMET FALLS LODGE is truly a unique mountain retreat that you never need to leave. There are countless hiking trails, streams, rivers and waterfalls nearby. The most common animals that you may encounter while out and about are deer, wild turkeys, rabbits and birds that span the colors of the rainbow. You may get lucky and spot a bear. At COMET FALLS LODGE, you will feel a million miles away, but you are minutes from the cultural conveniences of Asheville & Black Mountain. All linens, blankets and towels are provided and we have an extra large Washer & Dryer for your use. We also have hair dryers for your use while visiting. The custom dining table (made from reclaimed bowling alley lanes) really seats 16 VERY COMFORTABLY, there are 4 stools for seating at the kitchen bar and extra chairs and tables if needed for family gatherings. We also provide firewood for your use in the winter months. For outdoor grilling, we have a propane gas BBQ grill in the garage for you to use. TV service is provided by You tube TV with tons of local and cable channels and apps you can log into with your accounts. There are Flat Screen TVs located in the family room, the lower level recreation area and ALL 5 Master Suites. The Wi-Fi Internet is provided through Sky Runner and works great for surfing the web, checking emails, and streaming some movies. We also have Starlink internet which works great so we have 2 sources of high speed internet for you. The house has a landline for unlimited U.S. telephone calls. Cell service depends on your carrier, but Verizon cellular service works best for mobile phones. We also have an outdoor wood burning fireplace with cozy couches. There are security cameras on the outside of the house, there are no cameras anywhere inside the cabin.

PET POLICY: Up to 2 well behaved dogs MAX. (no cats) that are NOT puppies, that ARE housebroken, that NEVER chew and will not scratch or freak out and scratch when you leave, assuming you don't bring your own cage to use while you are out. There is a $195 non-refundable pet fee and you must get prior owner approval as to the type of dog(s) before any pets are permitted.

- "Spent weekend at house and everything was wonderful. The house is in a gated community, very private and quiet. A great place to reconnect with friends. Come celebrate in the gorgeous mountains of Black Mountain and enjoy long range mountain views at 3000 feet from the wraparound deck, gorgeous sunsets and town lights. Restaurants and shops are now open and the area is still as beautiful and special as ever. We are only 5 minutes to downtown Black Mtn, 15 to Asheville. Downtown you will find unique mountain shops, great restaurants, breweries, music venues and more. The cabin has 4 bedrooms, 3 downstairs, a queen bedroom, full bedroom and bunk room. There is a full bath with shower and a laundry room downstairs. The master bedroom is in the loft with a king bed, large soaking tub, bath and shower. The soaking tub has curtains for privacy and cannot be viewed from below. We have an endless hot water tank so you never run out of hot water. The main floor consists of the dining room, table seating for 6. The kitchen is well-stocked with condiments, spices, oils, blender, Mr Coffee, small Keurig, crock pot, nice potware. Plenty of extra paper products and cleaning products. There is a gas grill on the deck. The living room has a TV, with great wifi service and gas firelogs. We have French doors which provides a beautiful view of the mountains. There is a half bath on the main floor. We have plenty of parking with a long drive. We have a winding staircase that goes from downstairs to the loft. There are also stairs outside that provide access to the downstairs area. The neighborhood is very private and quiet. There is a computer desk in the loft. We are dog friendly, for more than 1, please let me know. No cats unfortunately allowed. Black Mountain is very pet friendly and most restaurants and stores are very accommodative. We are open winter months and is a beautiful season with clear views of the mountain range. We will be fully decorated for Christmas with a real NC tree. We have discounted winter rates and I have discounted further December rates to encourage guests to come and enjoy this special Christmas after Hurricane Helene. More and more attractions will be opening as wonderful volunteers and organizations work diligently to restore the area. Fortunately, Black Mtn is recovering quickly and we love being able to share our mountain cabin with our guests and make your visit special.

- "Good" - "Incredible views! So close to town and surrounding waterfalls and trails. Had great meals at unique restaurants in downtown Black Mtn. We loved hiking around Montreat and drove over to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. Hopped onto the Blue Ridge Parkway and hiked around Mount Mitchell. The cabin itself was super clean and very comfortable. And the view! Just amazing. Tons to do and see in the area and you can’t go wrong staying at this cabin!"

- "This cabin had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. A perfect place to unplug and unwind. Kids loved it as well." - "It was a lovely cabin! Clean, etc. Our only issue was it said AC on the listing. The host called to let me know that he had not out the window units in yet. He mentioned taking some off the cost, but he did not. We couldn’t open all the windows for a Crossbreeze because there were no screens in several of the windows. There was a fan, but that doesn’t really help when the whole house is very toasty. I would completely go back if there was ac AC or if it was in the winter. 😀"

Located among Beech and other indigenous trees, the newly built Beech Creek Cabin is a restful oasis. Great for an individual or a couple to retreat and restore. Two-minute drive to the center of Black Mountain, 15 minutes to Asheville.

The Space- bottom level of cabin includes bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette and living area. Top level is occupied by a very quiet single person.

On entering you are greeted with a natural wood entry and room to hang coats and store shoes. Windows on two sides of the living room allow for a view of the trees while relaxing or watching the large screen television, with streaming service.

The spacious bedroom at Beech Creek Cabin includes an adjustable California King Sized bed with new Cool Gel mattress. Comfortably sit up in bed to watch the 2nd large screen TV. A roomy closet for hanging clothes and storing suitcases, dresser and recliner completes the room. The bathroom with walk in shower, is well appointed with everything needed for your comfort and accessible from both the bedroom and kitchen.

The kitchen includes a full-sized refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker, microwave, glasses, utensils, plates and more and seating for two at the natural wood counter. Cook on the outdoor grill and dine alfresco on the expansive, inviting porch, while listening to the calming stream. Enjoy after dinner drinks Creekside by the firepit. Fires are permitted according to weather.

Spend an afternoon wandering through “The Little Town that Rocks,” and the many charming shops with local art, crafts and pottery. Walk around Lake Tomahawk, with views of the Seven Sisters Mountain range and refresh at the local cider house, distillery or one of several local breweries. There are numerous food options in Black Mountain both casual and fine dining.

Tv, rocking recliners etc. Directly to the left is the bedroom-king sized, luxurious bed, even larger TV. From bedroom into bathroom which has a large shower, plenty of shelf space. Local hiking trails are also about 1 mile from our cabin but there is plenty of space and trails to stretch your legs right outside our door. The property was great, very clean, check-in was easy, the owners were responsive and we had everything in the kitchen we needed to cook breakfast and whatever else we were cooking. Beautiful large cabin in the mountains, had friends and family stay with us (a total of 10), there was plenty of space in the house, lots to enjoy and when we wanted to visit breweries etc.. was a short car ride. I would recommend this house for a short or long stay. We would absolutely stay here again."

While roads are now passable, ongoing construction has forced traffic down to one lane. For the safety of the crews, drivers must drive slowly and yield to the downflowing vehicles. Please use caution in this area and plan for possible delays. We strongly recommend arriving during daylight hours if possible.

Easily accessed off scenic Hwy 9, the property is located just 10-15 minutes from boating and hiking at Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, and only 20-30 minutes from downtown Black Mountain, Asheville, Hendersonville, Biltmore estate, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. (Be advised that some areas, such as Chimney Rock and Lake Lure, are not fully operational at the present time due to damage caused by Tropical Storm Helene. Always check destinations and driving routes before heading out.)

Easily accessed off scenic Hwy 9, the property is located just 10-15 minutes from boating and hiking at Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, and only 20-30 minutes from downtown Black Mountain, Asheville, Hendersonville, Biltmore estate, and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

In case you're wondering how far shops, gas stations, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. are from the cottage, here's is a bit more info of what you'll find nearby along the routes to the nearby towns of Black Mountain, Hendersonville, and Lake Lure. All three towns are special in their own way and are roughly equidistant from the cottage but in different directions. Each area has its own personality with unique restaurants, eclectic shops, and breweries/wineries. You should be able to use your GPS to map any of the places I've named below, but there's so much more to see than I can possibly name here.

BLACK MOUNTAIN (NORTH): The exquisitely quaint, casual, and pet-friendly town of Black Mountain has a really neat and walkable downtown with its inviting Town Square, unique shops - including an authentic old-fashioned general store, art galleries, and repurposed train depot - museums, coffee shops, breweries, and dozens of restaurants, all just 25 minutes from the cottage. A short drive from downtown is the picturesque Lake Tomahawk Park and the hiking trails of Montreat. About a mile or so before you reach the downtown area, you find Artisan Gourmet Market and an Ingles gas and grocery store, which are about 13 miles (23 minutes) from the cottage. The town of Black Mountain is a must see, but it's just a bit tedious to drive to because of the twists and turns you'll find heading northbound on beautiful Hwy 9. The road is fully paved, impeccably maintained, and fun to drive, but less convenient to navigate. Roughly mid-way along the route to downtown, about 12 minutes from the cottage, you'll find the welcoming Straightaway Cafe & Pub, a local favorite worth checking out.

CHIMNEY ROCK / LAKE LURE (SOUTH, THEN EAST): Just 10 minutes from the cottage you'll find the charming Chimney Rock Village, which boasts a nice variety of shops and restaurants, as well as a brewery, a winery, and the scenic Rocky Broad riverwalk, all surrounding the spectacular hiking of Chimney Rock State Park. If you continue through Chimney Rock Village eastbound on hwy 64 for another five minutes or so, you'll see Lake Lure's scenic Flowering Bridge, Washburn Marina and Morse park, all of which are a must see. Continuing past the marina, the drive will become a bit more windy and scenic as you circle the lake on route to an Ingles gas and grocery store on the far southeast end of Lake Lure, roughly 11 miles (23 minutes) from the cottage. If you're into horses, driving another 22 minutes south on hwy 9 and then east on hwy 74 will bring you to the amazing Tryon International Equestrian Center, with all sorts of family-friendly events going on year round.

HENDERSONVILLE (SOUTH, THEN WEST): The closest and most conveniently accessed gas station is 10 miles away from the cottage heading west (southwest) on hwy 64, where you'll find an Exxon right beside Griffin's Grocery & Cafe. Continuing westbound along hwy 64 another 20-25 minutes will bring you to Downtown Hendersonville, a chic and casual-upscale area that we just love. As the second largest downtown in Western North Carolina (second only to Asheville), downtown Hendersonville has all sorts of shops, restaurants, galleries and even a pinball museum along the pedestrian-friendly half-mile Main Steet, as well as lots of other eats and breweries less than a mile away. It's well worth the trip if you've got the time. Three miles shy of the downtown Hendersonville area on hwy 64, you'll find the largest concentration and assortment of recognizable franchise shopping center stores and chain restaurants, as well as numerous fast food options. You'll also find in that area multiple groceries and gas stations, all about 15 miles (25 minutes) from the cottage, including (you guessed it) another Ingles grocery store.

NOTE: It's worth mentioning that, in terms of ease of driving, I prefer going to Hendersonville to run errands because there are fewer twists and turns compared to the drives into Black Mountain and Lake Lure. Honestly, though, I look forward to visiting each of these areas every time I'm at the cottage and I know you will, too.

A walk through of the property:
-Enjoy the beautiful mornings from the screened-in porch! The home is a single-family one-level home with only one step up to enter.

-To the left of the entryway is the open floor plan with a living room, fully equipped kitchen, and dining room. It looks out to the spacious backyard with fire pit and fenced area for your fur babies.

-The first bedroom you come across as you enter the home has a day bed trundle with two 5" gel memory foam mattresses. Great for an afternoon nap or overnight sleeping. There is also a workstation and room darkening curtains (that actually work :) ).

-At the entry of the first bedroom, there is a laundry closet with a full-size washer and dryer for your use. Laundry detergent is provided.

-Down the hallway off the kitchen/living room, you will first come across the full bathroom with shower/tub.

-Then there are two bedrooms at the end of the hallway—both with queen beds, room darkening curtains, and one with a workstation.

-The large and shaded fenced area for your pup is steps away from the back door.

-Enjoy the outdoor fire pit, twinkle lights, hammock, and saucer swing for all ages!

This is a REAL LOG CABIN. It says on deed built in 1934, but have been told there are Pictures of Cabin from late 1890s. Its got a very comfortable, inviting feel to it. The patio and side porch are perfect for coffee,relaxing,cocktail and enjoying your stay.

This cabin has lower ceilings, smaller bathroom than typical homes , so be aware of this. For optimal comfort,probably not ideal for Taller,Larger People. As I value guests optimal comfort and their Air B N B experience. Thx

The living room features a comfortable modern couch, chair, Roku tv, classic Nintendo gaming system for fun, board games and a propane gas fireplace that is easy to use with the simple press of a button.

The primary bedroom has a comfortable queen bed, closet and laundry access with a beautiful mountain view.

The second bedroom is a cozy bunkroom perfect for kiddos or kids at heart. A closet and dresser offer ample storage for your belongings.

The bathroom is clean, quaint and practical with a tub/shower, fresh towels and bathing essentials.

The large screened in porch opens up from the living room and offers an amazing private mountain view, comfortable seating and a small table for dining.

There is some minimal traffic noise from the interstate at the bottom of the mountain but we are conveniently located only 5 minutes from downtown Black Mountain. You can easily hop on I-40 and be in downtown Asheville in 20 minutes. Also, the cabin is just minutes from mountain biking trails. Kitsuma Trailhead is 1 mile from the cabin.

We have a DVD player, a selection of movies, games and Bluetooth speaker for you to enjoy. We have a stone fireplace, hot tub, electric grill, porch swing and outdoor dining patio.

AT&T, Verizon and Spectrum all work in mountains. T-Mobile does not work. Because of our mountains, cell service can sometimes be undependable.

We love pets. A portion of our proceeds goes to support Shady Acres Animal Sanctuary.

There is pet friendly hiking and lots of places to eat around town that are pet friendly. We are happy to share a list of those places with you.

We do not charge an extra pet fee unless you leave us a mess of pet hair, then we will request a $25 cleaning fee after checkout through Airbnb.

All of our homes are private residences so you have access to the entire house unless otherwise noted in the description (the owner may not allow use of the garage, etc). Free parking at all homes. After you make your reservation, you will receive an email with instructions for access, including a keyless access code if your home has keyless entry. You will hear from one of our local rental staff members and we will be available to assist you in whatever way we can!

-The road to the cabin is somewhat narrow and steep and we do recommend a 4WD, most 2WD vehicles do not have a problem . The turn into our driveway is pretty steep but there is ample parking at the bottom of the driveway.

There is a split unit with an Air Conditioner/Heater in the common space, will cool down and heat the bedrooms if the doors are left open. Wood burning stove will keep the house very toasty and is operable September through the end of April.

You are welcome to pick fresh herbs and fruit from the property when they are in season.

You’ll have access to the entire home and about 3/4 of an acre of fenced-in property. My partner and I live part-time in the barn on the property and there is a privacy fence between the two homes.

Hurricane Helene Update:
Thankfully, both the house and property were unaffected by the storm. However, the main road leading to the house was damaged and is currently being repaired, though it remains safely drivable. There will be ongoing roadwork which may cause delays and occasional temporary road closures. Advance notice of any closures will be communicated and they will be scheduled in a way that minimizes disruption to the community.

The home is located about 5 minutes off Route 9 in a quiet development. Once you turn off Route 9 the last 2 miles are down a bumpy gravel road, it is recommended that your vehicle have 4WD or AWD. Low clearance vehicles not recommended. Please plan accordingly.


Up to 2, well mannered, house trained dogs are welcome with no additional charge. There is a fence around the entire perimeter of the property. To secure the yard you will need to close the gate at the bottom of the driveway by hand. It requires being slightly lifted and latched in.

Security camera is located at entrance to driveway and does not view the property or house.

Unauthorized Guests: Individuals not listed on the original reservation are strictly prohibited from entering the property without prior clearance. This policy includes both friends and family members.

Guest Responsibility: Guests assume all risks associated with the use of the property. The owner disclaims responsibility for accidents, injuries, or illnesses that may occur on the premises. Additionally, the owner is not liable for any loss of personal belongings or valuables. Due to the wood stove and lack of childproofing this home is not suitable for children.

By confirming a reservation, all guests acknowledge and accept the rules and risks associated with using the premises.

Please note: This home is pet-friendly with an additional fee. For families traveling with children, there is a Pack N' Play (with a mattress and crib sheet) and a booster seat for your convenience. The driveway has been converted from concrete to chip and seal as of April 2023. As a result, 4WD/AWD is not required but recommended. The satellite WIFI is NOT unlimited. It is best for checking emails and surfing the web. While available, excessive use of movie/music streaming or playing games through the internet may result in it being shut off.

This 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom mountaintop oasis located off Hwy 9 is less than 15 minutes from downtown Black Mountain and about 30 minutes from Asheville. The cabin is tucked up in the Blue Ridge Mountains offering a rustic, peaceful getaway that is still close to the scenic and lively surrounding areas.

The space
We love our outdoor space so we'll start there!

FRONT YARD
The large moss-adorned yard includes 4 wooden Adirondack chairs, a picnic table, a 22-inch Weber charcoal grill, bistro string lighting, and hooks to hang a hammock (one is provided!). It’s the perfect setting to enjoy a book on a sunny afternoon. The front yard also includes a dog tie-down. Some of our guests have been amazed by the wildlife and identified Swainson and Hooded Warblers nesting on the property. There is a neighborhood burn ban as of 11/15/24 so the fire pit is currently unavailable until further notice

FENCED-IN AREAS
On the back of the house is a small grassy fenced-in dog run. It includes a tie down stake with a cable that you may use in case your four-legged friend has long legs and a tendency to jump ;) Just beyond the dog run is an additional large wooded fenced-in area.
Please note that we do not actively maintain the fence for the wooded area and do not take responsibility if your dog makes a "great escape."

PRIMARY BEDROOM / BATHROOM
Includes a King bed with a mattress by Stearns & Foster powered by Tempur-Pedic. There is a dresser and a closet with hangers and suitcase stand for your use. This room has a mini-split air conditioning and heating unit, ceiling fan, table fan, and a screened window. The en-suite bathroom is newly renovated and includes a European style “wet room” with a large walk-in shower and bathtub.

SECOND BEDROOM / WORKSPACE
Includes a full size bed, twin trundle bed, a closet with hangers and suitcase stand. This room has a mini-split air conditioning and heating unit, a screened window, and a tower fan. This room also includes a workspace with a desk, monitor, HDMI cord, bluetooth mouse, mousepad, task light, and Herman Miller Aeron ergonomic office chair. There is also a foldable high chair and pack n play crib with sheets provided in the closet.

LIVING ROOM
Includes a comfortable seating for 5, a TV with Apple TV, DVD player with assorted DVDs, lots of books, puzzles, and games, and a dedicated space for setting up a dog crate if needed. There is a cozy electric fireplace which features heat options and ambient lighting. This room also includes a mini-split air conditioning and heating unit.

KITCHEN / BREAKFAST ROOM
The well-stocked kitchen should have everything you need to make meals with ease! This includes: electric range, full sized fridge/freezer with ice maker and filtered water, microwave, pots, pans, baking sheets, toaster, blender, food processor, wok, sharp knives, cutting boards, measuring cups/spoons, can opener, vegetable peeler, strainers, cooking utensils, and more. We also have a drip coffee maker, French Press, and a cold brew coffee maker. We keep a supply of coffee, tea, and sugar on hand for guest use. Emergency supplies such as a lantern and first aid kit are provided as well as dish and hand soap, scrub brush, dishwasher tabs, and paper towels. The breakfast room includes a table with plenty of seating.

SECOND BATHROOM/LAUNDRY ROOM
Just off the kitchen is the 2nd full bathroom with a walk-in shower, as well as a washer and dryer which you are welcome to use. This room also has some basic cleaning supplies, fragrance-free laundry detergent, iron and ironing board, and a few "dog towels" for wiping dirty paws - these are marked with an "X" on the tag.

BACK PATIO
The enclosed patio/sunroom is a perfect place to spend the morning or evenings. With seating for 4, you will love listening to the birds and frogs. You will find a couple of yard games stored here that you’re welcome to use (KanJam, Ladder Toss).

NEIGHBORHOOD
The first hill coming into the neighborhood is the steepest - make sure to keep your momentum so you don't lose traction while being mindful of bumps and ridges. It will be very bumpy gravel.

ENTERTAINMENT/WIFI
The home has been upgraded to HIGH SPEED internet as of 2024!!! Enjoy your favorite streaming services or Face Time or zoom calls for work. We've also provided a small collection of books, puzzles, DVDs, and board games for your use. Otherwise, just enjoy the tranquility of being "unplugged" in the mountains, do a puzzle, play cards, or pick up that book you've been meaning to read ;)

DOGS
We welcome your four-legged friends at the cabin. And for those not bringing their dogs, we guarantee the place will be cleaned so well you’ll never know they had been there!

For your dog we provide:
- an extra large crate (located on the back porch), but you’ll want to bring a dog bed.
- a food and water bowl
- doggie bags
- assorted dog toys

From your dog we require:
- $75 flat pet fee (split amongst your overall nightly rate) for 1 dog under 100 lbs; a second dog may be permitted with prior approval.
- dogs must be house trained
- dogs must be up to date on all vaccines and flea/tick treatments
- dogs must be crated when you leave the house for any period of time and your dogs stay behind
- dogs are not permitted on any furniture or beds

Unfortunately we do not allow cats.

DOGS:
- You must disclose how many dogs are coming in the Airbnb booking request. We have a strict 2 dog maximum policy.
- All dogs must be house-trained and crated if left in the home while you are away from the home. Please message us with the size and breed of your dog before booking as some restrictions apply.

DOG SAFETY:
If you’re bringing a dog with you and want to walk them in the neighborhood, please be aware that many full time residents allow their dogs to roam free. You may encounter them on your walk, and some are friendlier than others. We have had the best luck walking our dog up the main road rather than down it, and it never hurts to carry a wooden stick or the hiking pole provided at the cabin.

COMFORT:
The home has recently been equipped with a brand new Carrier brand mini-split air conditioning and heating system! This highly efficient system is designed to stay on at all times (rather than cycling on and off like a ducted HVAC system). You can use the remote controls to adjust the temperature to whatever is most comfortable to you. We also provide a portable dehumidifier which you are welcome to run as needed. It will automatically shut off when the tank is full - you just have to pop the tank out and empty it in the sink whenever it fills up.
