When you stay with us, you are in good hands! Prior to renting out this cabin, my son and I owned a property outside Asheville that we successfully rented out on this platform and self-managed for 7 years, with over 200 5-star reviews! I sold that property and bought this one after very carefully considering all of the areas and options in these beautiful mountains. I fell in love with this area and over the past 8 months I have lovingly renovated this cabin and worked hard to provide here all the touches guests liked most at my previous property. Please note that this log cabin is 170-years-old. It's been well-cared for and offers plenty of cozy charm but does have characteristics of a historic home such as bumpy flooring, uneven stairs, and the occasional draft if it's cold and windy outside. In the winter the house is heated by the gas fireplace and electric space heaters so this may not be the best fit for guests who have balance issues or unsupervised children. In addition, we are located in the woods, the property is treated but there is a good chance you might see a bug or two in the warmer seasons!

BEDROOM
Sleep off the day of exploring in the King bed with a comfortable, thick duvet (lighter quilt available in the summer months) and blackout curtains. A second HDTV equipped with Roku is in the bedroom. The spacious walk-in closet offers storage for all your luggage, jackets, and outdoor gear.

BATHROOM
The bathroom, which is detached from the bedroom, offers a large walk-in shower and bench seat (no tub) with all the basic amenities you’ll need throughout your stay.

Cell signal is generally strong inside the cabin thanks to the signal booster, but can be unreliable in the surrounding areas. The home is equipped with Starlink high-speed satellite internet offering speeds of up to 100+ mbps. Remote work or streaming should be no issue, however please note: we are in the mountains after all, and you may experience rare but short intermittent outages from time to time.

OUTDOOR SPACE

The private, secure, and gated community is bounded on one side by Grandfather Mountain and on the other by Julian Price Memorial Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Just minutes from downtown Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Linville, and the Parkway, the location is convenient to golf resorts, shopping, Appalachian State University, Tweetsie Railroad, fine restaurants, ski resorts, horseback riding, fly fishing, and hiking on Grandfather Mountain, Linville Gorge, Pisgah National Forest and the Julian Price and Moses Cone Parks. This cabin has been lovingly cared for by its owners, who regularly update and renovate the property – most recently by transforming the backyard in 2021 with wonderful, new amenities. Guests will be greeted by a second deck off the lower bedroom, a huge entertaining space centered around a custom-built fire pit, and an open treehouse large enough for adults and children. The backyard also features gorgeous new landscaping, a tire swing, a secret hiking loop that will delight the children, and a small amphitheater / reading space that is perfect for sketching or simply admiring the surrounding woods. Custom lighting and railings for the backyard entertaining space are scheduled for installation during the spring of 2022.

The cabin itself has approximately 2,000 square feet on three levels with 2 large, ensuite bedrooms, a sleeping loft, 2 full baths, living room and dining area with vaulted ceilings, a fully equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, wireless internet, and a covered front porch with rocking chairs and a porch swing. The large, rear deck offers year round views of Hawksnest Mountain from the large Jacuzzi-brand hot tub located just outside the primary bedroom.

A screened porch off the main living area and adjacent to the open deck is fully furnished with a small table for eating or gaming, as well as Adirondack chairs, director's chairs, a rope hammock, and a hammock chair.

The main living area, beautifully furnished with heart pine floors and a cathedral ceiling, has a large sofa, 2 side chairs, a 40" flat screen LCD television with 250 channels as well as a Roku player, a stereo, a library stocked with paperback and hardback books and hiking/tourist maps and a selection of games and puzzles, a stone wood burning fireplace and a drop leaf game table. As part of the grand room, the dining area's large pine table has seating for 8. The loft has two twin beds and overlooks the main living area.

The upstairs ensuite bedroom has a new queen bed with a Casper mattress. The sitting area in the bedroom opens to sliding French doors affording a wonderful view of Hawksnest beyond the deck with the hot tub. The lower-level ensuite bedroom features a four-poster queen bed, a queen sized futon, a sitting area with a TV, a folding game table and chairs, private deck, and private bath. Also on the lower level is the laundry facility. There is a full bath on both the main and lower levels. Although it is rarely, if ever, needed, both ensuites are equipped with new window-unit air conditioners during the summer months. The fresh mountain breeze keeps the home comfortably cool year-round.

- "All good. Recommend highly." - "A great little cabin that had a great view from the porch. Everything you would need was provided, and it was immaculately clean and comfortable. It was also close to Boone and Blowing Rock and many wonderful hiking trails." - "Great quiet place" - "This cabin was exactly as described. So cute and comfy. The location-fantastic. Easy access to both Sugar, Grandfather, and Beech Mountains. Awesome points- Fireplace was easy to work and with our FL family, my kids wanted it on nearly every moment we were in the house. The porch was great with gorgeous views. The kitchen had nearly everything we needed and it was very clean and easy to use. The linens were really comfy and so were the beds. The door lock was easy to operate. The loft was adorable. Ceiling height was a bit of a challenge for my 6'2" teenager but short folks would not have an issue. Haha. Points to note if you book- the entrance to the street is basically a secret passage through the woods. Nearly hidden in the dark when we arrived. When the lights are out, the cabin is difficult to locate so if you can arrive while the sun is up, do so. We found it after a few minutes and my minivan didnt have an issue getting up the driveway. Had it been snowy that might have different. There wasnt a cookie sheet in the cabin so making quick frozen things like chicken nuggets for the kids took creativity but that could be easily remedied. There is not a lot of insulation between the loft and the downstairs bedroom so privacy between the two bedrooms should not be expected. Its not a problem, just something to note. All these things are minor and we would definitely rent this cabin again and recommend it for others!"

Welcome to Carolina Wren Cottage! Named for a charming local songbird, this property is located in the new High Hemlock community 15 minutes from Main Street Blowing Rock, and is surrounded by trees providing a calming setting. Perfect for a mountain getaway with friends or family!

Please note that as of mid-May 2024, there are 2 new homes being built on this street, including one on the lot immediately next door. Construction noises may be heard Mon-Sat during daylight hours.

Upon entering Carolina Wren Cottage you will be greeted with a lovely open floor plan between the two bedrooms, living room and kitchen area. The living room is furnished with 4 leather recliners, a gas-log fireplace and a flat screen TV above. The kitchen has a spacious feel and offers brand new appliances, granite counters, and a Keurig coffee maker for all the coffee lovers out there! Pops of color throughout the cabin are sure to bring a smile to everyone's face.

There are two bedroom suites here. The master bedroom features a King bed, flat screen TV and a full bathroom with a tiled walk-in shower. The second bedroom at the other end of the cabin is nearly identical with a Queen bed, flat screen TV and also has it's own full bathroom with a tiled walk-in shower. As an added luxury element, both bathrooms have heated floors.

Step outside onto the back deck to enjoy a cool evening, and enjoy a dip in the Bullfrog Spas hot tub. Listen to all that nature brings to the High Country of North Carolina and soak it in. Carolina Wren Cottage is sure to leave you feeling refreshed and energized!

- All BRMR homes offer well stocked kitchens with all utensils needed to cook meals. There is also a "starter set" of paper products at the house: a roll of toilet paper per bath, several garbage bags, a small vial of dishwashing liquid, a few tablets of dishwasher detergent, some laundry pods, a roll of paper towels, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and some makeup remover cloths. There are enough of these items for one night, or maybe two. We do not provide hair dryers. Towels and linens will be provided.
- Check in is after 4pm and Checkout is by 10am
- Must be at least 25 years old to reserve. This person is required to be the person signing the agreement and must be one of the persons staying in the property for the reserved dates.

The kitchen features hand-poured concrete countertops, custom kitchen cabinets made from wormy chestnut that was recycled from the cabin's original walls, a large farm sink, a fully stocked coffee bar with a drip coffee pot, French press and a Chemex.

All the amenities you could need. Crockpot, blender, knives, cutting boards, bar accessories, pyrex, pots and pans, spices, olive oil.

PLEASE NOTE: There is NO garbage disposal or filtered water dispenser on the refrigerator. We do however provide a water filtration pitcher for your use during your stay.

MASTER BEDROOM -
King bed featuring a Tuft and Needle mattress and West Elm bedding with dual zone heated mattress topper. USB outlets and power outlets are located in nightstands. There is no closet. The fireplace in the bedroom is decorative. The sound machine and salt lamp add the perfect soft touches.

SECOND BEDROOM-
Custom-built bunk beds and a queen bed. The queen bed is also a Tuft and Needle mattress. Two leather beanbags and some twinkle lights make this room extra fun. Not a room just for kids but anyone can enjoy it. No closet.

SHARED BATHROOM-
A beautiful space with a shower/bath combo. The sink was carved from a rock pulled from the river on the property and hung with care.

DOWNSTAIRS BATHROOM-
Custom stonework shower with a rain shower head and a carved stone sink. Feels like a rustic spa.

OUTDOOR SPACE-
A wrap-around deck with a 6-person table under string lights plus a porch swing and a couple of rocking chairs. Fire pit for s'mores and a large backyard to run around.

Other things to note:
A 4-wheel or all-wheel drive is needed on snowy days for our road/driveway. You will have to cross a small wooden bridge.

The king sized bedroom is located on the entry level living area along with a full bath. This level also includes a full kitchen and a Keurig with pour over coffee maker. A seating area off the kitchen along with a large dining table and gas fireplace. There is also spacious den that has a huge comfy couch, a 65 inch smart TV with cable and large windows with fabulous views.

The queen bedroom is located on the lower level with a full bath. Plenty of seating along with a gas fireplace, TV with cable and believe it or not another fully stocked kitchen! Walk right out to the hot tub.

Two air mattress can be found in the closet upstairs if you need additional sleeping space.

Our home offers a large Primary room with a King bed, and a large loft with a full bed. The living room has space for the entire family to gather around the 50" smart television. Spend your evenings on the front patio taking in the warmth of the fire pit.

- "We planned a quiet Christmas getaway for the family to get away from the big city. This location was perfect. Easy to navigate to and from the address provided. We wanted peace and quiet and that’s what we got. We arrived at the perfectly clean cabin, dressed up with Christmas decor which was just perfect for the holidays. Opening presents on Christmas morning meant we didn’t miss out on anything. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The large supermarket was not far away so we got all the food items we needed for our stay with no issue. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms had perfect temperature from the programmed heating. We enjoyed snow tubing and visited the Sugar Mountain Resort for the fun activities. Overall a perfect, quiet family getaway in a charming mountain cabin."

Additional Notes:
- This home is not pet friendly. Thank you for not bringing pets to this home or requesting an exception to this rule.
- The King suite on the upper level is mostly enclosed from the loft but the wall between the bedroom and the loft does not extend all the way to the ceiling, so it is not soundproofed.
-Check In is after 4pm. Check Out is by 10am.
- All BRMR homes offer well stocked kitchens with all utensils needed to cook meals. There is also a "starter set" of paper products at the house: a roll of toilet paper per bath, several garbage bags, a small vial of dishwashing liquid, a few tablets of dishwasher detergent, some laundry pods, a roll of paper towels, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and some makeup remover cloths. There are enough of these items for one night, or maybe two. We do not provide hair dryers. Towels and linens will be provided
- Must electronically sign an additional Rental Agreement Terms and Conditions and any Neighborhood Rules sent by Host (property manager) or entry information cannot be sent.
- Must be at least 25 years old to reserve. This person is required to be the person signing the agreement and must be one of the persons staying in the property for the reserved dates.
- No smoking inside the home. No trace of smoking left outside the home.
- Do not leave food or trash outside as it could attract animals. All trash must be bagged and placed in the trash receptacle indicated in the Welcome Book inside the house or your digital guidebook.
- No parties or gatherings above the posted occupancy allowed at any time. Keep outside noise respectable.
- 4WD/AWD and/or chains recommended during winter (Nov-March) for all homes. Travelers visiting during the winter months where inclement weather may be possible should come prepared with an AWD or 4WD vehicle, and chains may also be required if it snows. No refunds, allowances, or date changes will be given to travelers who are not prepared with the proper vehicle, as outlined in the Rental Agreement. Firewood may be purchased at the time of booking, or by calling us with a week's notice. You receive two wrapped, kiln-dried bundles and a firestarter for $25 plus tax.

CANCELLATION POLICY - Bookings canceled 60+ days before arrival will receive a refund of the deposit. Bookings canceled between 31-59 days before arrival will receive a refund of half of the deposit. Bookings canceled within 30 days of arrival are not entitled to a refund unless the reservation dates are rebooked to another guest. All bookings are subject to a $50 cancellation fee.

It offers a gourmet kitchen that’s fully equipped, Wi-Fi, and a washer and dryer for you to use. Each bedroom is nicely decorated and has its own TV and ceiling fan. The living room has vaulted ceilings and a cozy fireplace to warm up by during the winter. The cabin has grand decks and a covered porch area where guests can relax in the rockers and enjoy the surrounding nature. This cabin is just a short drive to skiing, golf, tennis, hiking and more. Non-smoking. Absolutely NO Pets from December through March. Pet-friendly may be available seasonally. There are pet size/breed and number restrictions please confirm with us before booking. Please acknowledge that there is a $100 pet fee(per pet). No Check-in's Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day. All guests required to sign their rental agreement within 7 days of booking.
