The cabin is far enough from town to give quiet and privacy but very convenient to West Jefferson for restaurants, shops, groceries, and gas The cabin is also very convenient to the Blue ridge Pkwy and State Parks. It’s in a quiet location that’s a short drive to West Jefferson. The cabin and yard are so well cared for. The kitchen is well stocked. Lorraine and Steve haven’t skimped on anything! My husband and I enjoyed our time there and would definitely go back! The jar of strawberry jam as a welcome gift was an added touch! We drove to the lot on the river and it’s a little tight with parking, but it’s absolutely beautiful! You won’t regret staying here! It was in a beautiful little neighborhood that felt very private but was less than a mile from Walmart, Wendy’s and other businesses. Linda thought of everything! There’s plenty of soap, toilet tissue, paper towels, towels, blankets, etc. She really does provide coffee, tea, bottled water, condiments, and snacks. The check out process can’t even really be called a process. I was thrilled and will definitely stay there again. You’d be crazy not to book this cabin."

This two bedroom, one bathroom house is surrounded on 3 sides with mountains. The house sleeps 5 (King, full, twin, and couch) with linens included and features a large custom kitchen with a full complement of cookware, silverware, and small appliances, a cast iron gas stove in the living room, and hardwood floor throughout, along with a full sized washer and dryer. Be connected if you wish, there is wireless internet, phone and TV, but you can unwind, unplug, and get a much needed break in the clean mountain air. Entertainment is provided by 36” TV with Cable TV and Netflix. A DVD library with a few kids DVDs are provided. A selection of board and card games along with a few books is available. There is a large deck with a beautiful mountain view, a charcoal grill, and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows or just chasing away the evening chill.

You will see cows grazing in the nearby pasture, and depending on the time of year may enjoy watching the hummingbirds or get a glimpse of the wild turkeys or deer off the back deck. Located just 6 miles from the town of West Jefferson where many festivals are held and many artisans keep shop. The town is a mecca of art galleries and other interesting shops, offers a few restaurants, bars, an ice cream parlor, and a coffee shop. Mary’s Episcopal Church containing 3 of Ben Long’s frescoes is nearby. This is the only place in NC where cheese is made, and you can watch at the Ashe County Cheese factory downtown. The Ashe County Arts Council showcases local artists with rotating exhibits and special events. West Jefferson hosts a Christmas in July festival and has 15 murals that create a walking tour throughout downtown. There are free summer concerts on the backstreet, a weekly Saturday and Wednesday farmers’ market, monthly gallery crawls, one of the biggest arts & crafts festivals in the high country, an antique festival, little theater performances, and annual holiday events.

Mount Jefferson State Park is just 9 miles away from the house and has fabulous views and a hiking trail. The Virginia Creeper Bike Path is just 45 minutes away while it is just 20 minutes to the New River for rafting. If you choose to visit area attractions, historic Todd, Glendale Springs, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls, Tweetsie Railroad, Blowing Rock, Boone NC, Mount Rogers and Grayson Highlands State Park, Pond Mountain, and Elk Knob State Park are all within 30 to 60 minutes’ drive.

Hope to stay there again and see more of the area." - "This is our second time staying at this garage apartment cabin. It’s consistently VERY clean and comfortable. It is perfect for our family of four. It’s very well appointed. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had a Keurig, which we use at home. The location feels remote but is convenient to downtown West Jefferson. My only concern is that a propane heater is used for heat in the living room, which has a strong odor. The heat for the bedrooms and bathroom is on a separate system and does not have the same gas odor. Overall, a great value in West Jefferson. I would stay here again and recommend it."

In five minutes you can enjoy the town of West Jefferson, where you can stroll down the streets, shop at local shops, enjoy art galleries of local artists, enjoy great food and indulge in the local spirits in two breweries of Boone Docks, New River Brewery and the Wine Shoppe. You can watch cheese being made at the famous Ashe Cheese Factory and buy the goods at the shop across the street. This is located near our Parkway Theater which two movies are available. Creekside Hideaway is located 4.5 miles from the Blueridge Parkway where the views are amazing. We are located 26 miles from Boone, NC, home of Appalachian State University and Appalachian Ski Mountain where you can enjoy winter activities such as skiing, snow boarding. 47 miles from Beech Mountain Ski Resort where depending on weather there is an ice skating ring, skiing, etc. Grandfather Mountain is about 46 miles from the cabin.

Boone is located within a 30-35 minute drive and from there, skiing is about another 10-25 minutes further.

Downtown West Jefferson is home to a colorful array of galleries, antique shops, restaurants, and festivals (such as the annual Christmas in July Festival, which draws hundreds of visitors each year). Restaurants like Red Dog Bar & Bistro offer excellent food in a casual dining setting, while breweries like New River Brewery and Boondocks offer you a taste of the High Country's best local beers. Also nearby is the quaint community of Glendale Springs, where you can visit the wonderfully creative Greenhouse Crafts Shop and the Glendale Springs Inn & Restaurant.
- Spending time outdoors is easy in this area. Multiple access points of the Blue Ridge Parkway are close by, where you have endless options for hiking and sightseeing. Some of the best parkway stops near your rental include Doughton Park and its historic Brinegar cabin, as well as Moses Cone Park further down near Boone.
- Speaking of Boone, you just have to take a trip up to the college town while you're here. Home to Appalachian State University and Appalachian Ski Mountain, Boone offers year-round fun. Head to a football game in the fall, hit the slopes in the winter, or just peruse the many shops and boutiques at any time of the year. The village of Blowing Rock is only 15 minutes from downtown Boone, so hop over there while you are in Boone to find even more unique shops, restaurants, and parks.
- Less than 10 minutes from your cabin is Elk Shoals, one of the many New River State Park access points. Mosey on down to the park to take a dip in the water, or put your canoes or kayaks in near the cabin and float down to Elk Shoals that way. If you don't have your own equipment, stop by one of the many local outfitters to rent boats and check out different sections of the New River.

You are very close to the river in this neighborhood – in fact, you are close to everything but you’ll feel like you are a world apart, which is just what we come to the mountains for. The oversized front porch is the perfect place to read in the rocking chair or sit and relax on the porch swing. Everyone will enjoy an evening of S’mores around the outside fire pit! Inside, the cabin’s cozy architecture is expansive, featuring vaulted ceilings and an open floor plan. In the evenings or cold weather season, gather around the fireplace to play games or enjoy streaming on the TV. You can’t beat the location of Bearadise. Here you will find yourself only 10 to 15 minutes to much of what attracts people to Ashe County, including West Jefferson, a happening town with breweries, galleries, antiques, a movie theater, quaint shops, restaurants and festivals.

You can pick up the Blue Ridge Parkway less than 3 miles from the cabin and enjoy log range views for miles. No matter which direction you chose to go the famous scenic views of the parkway will not disappoint.

Less than 1/2 mile from the cabin is the South fork of the New River. Public access allows canoeing/kayaking/tubing/fishing and even swimming!

Less than 10 minutes from the cabin you can splash in the water and play at Elk Shoals, a tourist favorite in Ashe County. You can put your kayaks in at Elk Shoals and take out at Zaloos off Hwy 16 (about a 3-4 hour float). If you don’t have your own, don’t fret- you can rent canoes and kayaks from Zaloo’s just north of Glendale Springs or head south toward Todd and rent from River Girl Fishing. Here you can also rent bikes for the pleasant – and level – ride along Railroad Grade Road. Here you can embark on a 20-mile trip from Todd to Fleetwood to Todd again.

Only ten minutes away you can enjoy excellent hiking and views from Mt Jefferson State Park. Enjoy a hike and a long range view picnic after.

From here you are also about 30 minutes from all that Boone has to offer. Only another 15 beyond that you’re in Blowing Rock with even more shops, dining and antiques. We are 1 hour ten minutes from Beech Mountain.
