Some other things to note about Panther Creek Cabin:

- Stairs to bedroom (loft area) are steep and narrow. Panther Creek Cabin has one queen size bed and is best suited for couples. Maximum occupancy is 2.

- Check-in is at 3 pm, and check-out is at 10 am. Early check-in or late check-out may be available, please ask! However, an unauthorized late checkout may cost you $25 per 30 min tardiness to vacate as it impacts the schedule of our cleaning person. Please be considerate!

- Cameras are installed outside the cabin facing the driveway.

- There is no cell service at the cabin. Guests must be able to connect to the internet at the cabin and use wi-fi calling to text and make phone calls.

- Pets are not allowed.

-There is no trash service in this area. We ask that you please place your trash in the outside receptacle and close the lid tightly or you will encounter undesired wildlife!

- A signed rental agreement is required as well as a separate security deposit for this property. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions!

- Fishing is welcome, but Virginia requires a Virginia Freshwater Fishing License. Licenses can be purchased online at the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources website.

- Our cabin is cleaned and sanitized after every departure. The hot tub filter is cleaned and sanitized after every stay, and replaced regularly. There are rules for enjoying the hot tub that must be adhered to in accordance with the rental agreement that you are required to sign. Read and understand the rules prior to arrival. You acknowledge the rules and cancellation policy when you sign the rental agreement. There will be a charge for unscheduled hot tub drain/refill. There will be a charge for misuse of the hot tub and/or cover. A copy of the rental agreement can be provided prior to booking upon request.

- We provide a small amount of free firewood and other items needed to get a fire started in the outdoor fire pit. More wood is available for purchase upon request. Ask host for details.

- PLEASE NOTE for November - March bookings: During these winter months, a four-wheel drive (4WD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) vehicle is recommended in case of implement weather. Trip insurance is offered at booking and is recommended.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:
AWD/4WD required for the steep gravel drive (most 2WD cars won’t make it). Parking is available at the bottom if needed — it’s a bit of a walk up with luggage and not highly recommended although doable.

The cabin has central heat and A/C. Upstairs can get warm on hot days or cool during evenings but fans will circulate the air and there are space heaters if it gets chilly upstairs.

The cabin is made up with towels, bed linens, soaps, starter K-cups of coffee, basic spices, and paper goods — just bring your essentials and settle in. Bring along some firewood and charcoal if you wish to use those amenities.

You’re 15–20 minutes from New River State Park and about 25-40 minutes from the charming small towns of Galax, Hillsville, and Wytheville — perfect for a day trip or antique hunt before returning to your mountain hideaway.

The space
The Bee Hive is elevated on the mountain between 2 neighboring yurts. Yurts can be rented individually or in groups. They are separated enough for privacy if desired and close enough to walk between to visit with neighbors if booked in groups. Bee Hive boasts a spacious wrap around porch with a gorgeous view, a fully equipped kitchen for vacation meals, a huge soaking bath tub, a large loft, gas fireplace, and entertainment. The porch is enclosed to be dog and kid-friendly, and the driveway is accessible for sedans, SUVs, and motorcycles. We were driving a medium size 4WD SUV and pulling a small open motorcycle trailer. If we hugged the hill, it left room for access to the third yurt. If the tenants of the first yurt weren't parked properly, it completely blocked access to the middle yurt (The Bee Hive). Recommend meeting your neighbors and make sure they know where to park :) There's not a ton of room to turn a vehicle around, so plan ahead, especially when towing. We loved the deck(s)! One wraps around the yurt, the other is under the main deck and creates a nice semi-covered area to get our of the sun or rain. Falling rain creates a nice sound on the yurt. This quaint cabin (The Bear Den) is situated only feet from the east fork of Little Reed Island creek. Sit on the porch and relax listening to the harmonious melody of the water cascading over the beautiful outcropped rocks, or open the windows and let the tranquil water sounds lull you to sleep. The layout is simple and decorated to establish a sense of bygone charm and relaxation.

Feel free to hike the gravel road, roam the nearby woods, or hop in the creek. We do live on the property and you may see us working around the land. We would like to kindly ask our guests not to enter the buildings or barns on the property .

THINGS TO KNOW:
- Sauna use is at your own risk. Follow all safety guidelines.
- Pack light - we stock basic supplies that should last a long weekend (bring more for an extended stay) - toilet paper, paper towels, soaps, towels, cooking essentials.
- Bring along some firewood or charcoal if you wish to use those amenities.
- The creek has a steep grade to get down to so it’s recommended to view from the decks/yard. Enter at your own risk.
- The driveway is gravel and runs parallel to the road. Some may think nothing of it but if you're not used to rural roads you may want to arrive in daylight to acclimate.
- There is a second cabin on the property. It is a separate space with a carport and large pine tree in between.

GUEST ACCESS:
The entire home is available for your use other than a locked owners closet located in the bathroom as well as a storage shed and closet outside. They will not be accessed during your stay and will remain locked.

Hot tub use is at your own risk. Guests must follow safety guidelines, including no unattended children, no glass containers, and no use while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

To re-iterate some of the details you should know to make sure the cabin is a good fit:

- There is no TV in the living area/downstairs.
- There are no window coverings.
- We drain the hot tub between stays so it may take until the evening of your first night for the temperature to return to it's normal ~102 degree range.
- The location is very rural.
- There is no air conditioning in the cabin.

The “Knotty Cabin” is situated on a knoll overlooking the river at the end of a county road cud-le-sac with huge, beautiful landscape boulders randomly nestled in the yard along with a fire pit for burning natural wood fires on chilling evenings.
This 1 bedroom/1 bath is perfect for a romantic getaway, anniversaries, or just spending days participating in outdoor activities or visiting the numerous local sites and attractions.

Part of the Knotty Cabin’s uniqueness includes its custom rustic furniture made from aspen trees harvested from the Rocky Mountains and finished by a skilled carpenter. The furniture is all natural with knots, gnarls, twists, burls, beetle runs & even elk rubbings. The comfortable rustic Queen bed is officially proclaimed “The Knotty Bed”.

This property is positioned as a “get-away” so no wi-fi, cable nor satellite tv – not even local tv channels (but lots of DVD’s for enjoying movies). Fear not, we have a cell booster hooked-up at the cabin that will allow “most” cell phone users to easily make phone calls and reach the internet for exchanging emails, checking stocks, game scores, making on-line purchases, checking the news, etc. The cell service won't handle streaming or doing lots of internet work where fast connections are needed.

From your cabin enjoy walking/hiking along the river or county roads. A perfect area to kick off your shoes and wade the stream and even try your luck at trout fishing. In the evenings, enjoy the deck or fire pit. In addition to picnicking on the deck we offer a riverside picnic table and a stairway to reach the stream and our artesian well. The table, stairway and well are located about 200 yards across the concrete bridge - you can't miss them. In adverse weather, enjoy great DVD’s, books and/or board games, curled up in the knotty bed or sitting in front of our gas log fireplace.

Coffee lovers and connoisseurs, you’re going to love the Knotty Cabin. We not only offer a Keurig with pods (bring your favorite though), but also provide a top-of-the-line OXO stainless steel coffee brewer along with fresh beans and a grinder. We even cater to those who will “never change” with Folger’s Instant coffee crystals as well! So, we have you covered! Even non coffee drinkers…we’ve got some Keurig coca and/or tea for you!

Notice we emphasized the river in our headline. After doing our due diligence in research we learned waterfront properties (rivers, lakes, ponds, oceans, etc.) are what many renters are looking for. Be assured you will see and hear the river immediately – it sits bold and beautiful in view of the deck. So, you will certainly not experience the “Where’s the Beef (water)” syndrome that you and others may have encountered with various other rental sites.

We do hope you will visit and stay with us. As for rates, there are some in the county that are cheaper and a number more expensive. But in terms of “value” or “bang for your buck” (the river view, the rustic furniture and our amenities) it doesn’t get any better than the Knotty Cabin with the Knotty Bed.

The Historic Buffalo Mtn Presbyterian Rock Church – one of the famous 6 rock churches built in the early 1900’s by Rev Bob Childress and placed in the Nat. Reg. of Historic Places. (1.9 miles away - all six churches are nearby w/ the furthest being 18.7 miles away).

Blacksnake Meadery – a farm winery specializing in honey wine. (2.1 miles away)

Kanawha Valley Arena – a unique attraction with a western theme and a saloon serving food, beer & wine and entertainment. They host motorsports events such as mud bogs, drag racing and ATV rodeos. (3.7 miles away)

Olde Mill Golf Resort – a very nice course in the rolling countryside of Carroll Co. Ratings from various sources tend to place them most often in the mid to upper 4 range on a 5-point scale which means they are definitely well thought of by golfers. (9.3 miles away)

It is a one bedroom, one bath cabin that is perfect for a great get-a-way for a couple. It was so quiet. We could only hear the rippling of the creek as it flowed in front of the cabin. And the night sky! There is no light pollution. On a clear night it seemed you could see thousands of stars. The deck is a great place to relax, whether you are catching some rays, star gazing, reading, or enjoying a meal. The interior of the cabin is awesome. It has that true cozy cabin feel with all of the knotty pine walls. The furniture is custom made and gives a rustic appearance but is comfortable and relaxing. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you might need to prepare a snack or a special meal. It also has new appliances and a fireplace visible from both the kitchen and living area. My wife and I have travelled a lot and stayed many places. The owner’s attention to detail to make their client’s stay inviting and enjoyable is one of the best we have seen or experienced. The Blue Ridge Parkway is close by and well as several historical places to visit. Plenty of activities and events in the area, (some based on the season of course), but whether you choose an active day or a day of solitude and relaxation, we found the Knotty Cabin is the perfect location. Relax with the whole family at this peaceful historic one room schoolhouse built in 1903 situated on 13 acres. It was originally built as a Sunday School room but was later used as the community schoolhouse. Two original blackboards are still in the main room, along with numerous children's carvings on the original walls.The schoolhouse has been updated with a kitchen, bedroom, 1 1/2 bathrooms and a large wrap around deck. The headwaters of the Dan River can be seen and heard from the deck.

Our favorite place to slow down and enjoy the beautiful place we live. Quiet, peaceful, and simple. Hang out on the porch and just listen to Chestnut Creek or go down to the water to play or fish. Walk or bike to the adjacent park to play at the playground or cross the bridge to access the New River Trail (part of the New River Trail State Park). It's the perfect place to just rest or to get out and enjoy southwest Virginia.

The space
This tiny but mighty cabin has a king size bed, but also has a futon sofa that can be converted as a full bed. This quaint cabin (Moonshiner's Mansion 117-B) is situated only feet from the east fork of Little Reed Island creek. Sit on the porch and relax listening to the harmonious melody of the water cascading over the beautiful outcropped rocks, or open the windows and let the tranquil water sounds lull you to sleep. The layout is simple and decorated to establish a sense of bygone charm and relaxation.

Feel free to hike the gravel road, roam the nearby woods, or hop in the creek. We do live on the property and you may see us working around the land. We would like to kindly ask our guests not to enter the buildings or barns on the property .

We are constantly working hard to improve the property to better serve our guests. We have finished this cabin in July of '24 and it is the second cabin in our master plan. There are plans for a third cabin to start in 2025. We are still working on parking and drainage during the off days, so please pardon our "dust".

Our rustic cabin is a 100+ year old restored cabin. It features an open floor plan with a cathedral wooden ceiling. Enjoy the comfy new mattress on the queen size bed. There's also a queen size sleeper sofa. The TV has Dish Network programming.

Outside, relax by swinging on the porch or, enjoy some time around the firepit and watch the sun set!

The “Easy Plateau” is your cozy, pet-friendly 2 bed/1 bath cabin w/ an open-concept living area, full kitchen, office and loft along with a wraparound covered deck and outdoor firepit area.

LIVING SPACE/s:

The main level is an open concept space with a living area with comfy oversized chair, sofa and a 55” Roku Tv. The full kitchen is equipped for cooking up your favorite meals. We provide the essentials such as a starter kit of coffee, sugar and creamers for the drip coffee maker as well as basic seasonings and cooking oil. There are dishes, glassware, pots and pans, baking sheets, utensils, etc. There is a dining table that seats 4 and 2 additional bar stools at the kitchen counter.

Off the living area is a favorite spot - the wraparound covered deck. Catch the sunrise from the rocking chairs out front and unwind with your favorite beverage while watching the sunset from the sitting area off the living room.

Upstairs is the loft area. Relax in the reading nook and fill the space with some music from the record player. In addition to the queen bedroom upstairs, there is a small office with a desk and couch — ideal for journaling, reading, or sneaking in a Zoom call (fast Starlink internet can steam multiple devices).

OUTDOORS:

In addition to the covered deck with rocking chairs + cozy lounge seating, the backyard has a fire pit with Adirondack chairs to relax under the stars. There is a charcoal grill and picnic table (BYO charcoal & firewood).

ADDITIONAL GOOD TO KNOW DETAILS:

The cabin has central heating and A/C. The upstairs areas can get warm in summer, especially during the heat of the day. We are in the mountains so evenings typically cool down. The downstairs bedroom stays nice and cool but the upstairs bedroom will be warm if it’s a really hot day.

AWD/4WD vehicle required to make it up the steep gravel drive.

The cabin is just 15–20 min to New River State Park, and 30–40 min to charming small towns like Galax, Hillsville, and Wytheville.

Pack light - we stock the cabin with towels, linens, soaps, coffee, basic cooking spices and starter paper goods.

The entire home is available for your use other than a locked storage closet located in the bathroom and living area and the downstairs crawl space.

Other things to note
4WD/AWD Highly Recommended. The last approx 2 miles are a gravel road which is state maintained. The driveway is gravel and gets steep about halfway up. Most 2WD vehicles will not be able to make it up the driveway due to the grade. Please ensure you have a vehicle that can handle these road conditions. There is a parking spot at the bottom of the driveway should your vehicle not make the ascent but please read past reviews from guests that could not make it up the driveway. It can be a miserable walk if you have to haul your supplies up the long drive.

Bring along some firewood and charcoal should you wish to utilize the fire pit and grill amenities.

The house is cleaned thoroughly which includes regular pest control. As much as we'd like to keep insects outdoors, we are in the woods and they do make their way inside, especially in the fall and spring months. Stink bugs and Asian ladybeetles are most common.

- The creek has a steep grade to get down to so it’s recommended to view from the decks/yard. Enter at your own risk.
- The driveway is gravel and runs parallel to the road. Some may think nothing of it but if you're not used to rural roads you may want to arrive in daylight to acclimate.
- There is a second cabin on the property. It is a separate space with a carport and large pine tree in between.

The entire home is available for your use other than a locked owners closet located in the bathroom as well as a storage shed and closet outside. They will not be accessed during your stay and will remain locked.

Other things to note
We do not stock firewood or charcoal so please bring along these items should you wish to utilize those amenities.

All fires must be attended at all times.

The ~400 sq ft cabin bedroom features one bedroom, a well-stocked kitchenette and an open living space and full bathroom.

Outside, sip your morning coffee on the covered porch as the creek flows by. Gather around the firepit in Adirondack chairs for nights under the stars and grill up your favorite meals at the charcoal grill.

SLEEPING:
- Queen bed with hotel quality linens, 40" ROKU TV, bedside lamps, blackout shades, dresser and clothes rack with hangers. There is a window AC unit to keep the space cool (seasonal - heater added during cooler months).

OUTSIDE:
Unwind on the covered deck with chairs to take in the sights and sounds of the creek flowing by. Grill up your favorite meals and relax at the picnic table and Adirondack chairs along the banks of the creek. The deck is fully covered and has a gate so is a great spot for your furry friend to take in the surroundings as well.

PET FRIENDLY:
Furry friend? No problem! Our cabin is dog-friendly for up to 2 dogs, and your furry companion will love roaming around the property (not fenced in). Please note that there is a pet fee to cover additional cleaning and wear and tear.

FAST WIFI:
The cabin has fast Starlink internet which can stream multiple devices. Cell service is very spotty in the area and many carriers lose service at the cabin. I suggest ensuring you have the ability to do WIFI calls on your device should you wish to stay connected.

KITCHENETTE:
The kitchenette is set up to build your own cooking space. There are small appliances, dishes, glassware, pots and pans, cutting boards, bowls and utensils. We provide a starter kit of Kcups of coffee, coffee creamer, sugar, and sweetener as well as basic seasonings. There is a dining table with 2 chairs in the living area as well as a dining table with 2 chairs outside and the picnic table along the meadow.

The cabin has no central air conditioning or heating. There is a window AC unit currently in the bedroom to keep the sleeping area cool and comfy. It is warmed with a propane heater in cooler months and an electric heater in the bedroom. The space is only about ~400 sq feet but may be chilly or warm upon arrival depending on the weather. Turn on the heaters or AC in the bedroom to quickly warm or cool the space. There are ceiling fans as well as a free standing fan to circulate the air.

SUPPLIES:
We provide basic cleaning supplies and dish soap, as well as a starter kit of paper towels and toilet paper. Bed linens and towels are also provided, along with basic amenities such as hand soap, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. For longer stays, you may want to bring a few extra towels and toiletries.

OTHER DETAILS:

- The driveway is gravel and runs along the hillside to get to the cabin. If you're used to rural roads you may think nothing of it, but if it's your first time on the driveway, you may want to arrive in daylight to acclimate. It's not very long but it does slope at an incline to get down to the cabin from the main road. There is only parking for one vehicle and the parking space is just slightly larger than your average parking lot spot.

- There is a second cabin on the property that shares the driveway which you'll see beyond this cabin. It is a separate space but there may be other guests at that cabin during your stay. There is a carport area and tall tree that divide the spaces.

Please take note that there is another cabin on the property just beyond this tiny cabin about ~40 feet away. This is a separate space but you may see other vehicles coming or going past the cabin in the shared driveway. The spaces are separated with a large pine tree and a carport between them.

Beautiful, rustic cabin on a 3 acre recently-stocked pond. Secluded on 50 acres of private property. Tranquil environment to relax and enjoy the abundant wildlife. Sit in front of the 100 year-old (gas) fireplace, or enjoy the outdoor fire pit. Hike on private Virginia Highland trails. 11 miles south of HWY 81. Conveniently located to New River Trail, Iron Heart Winery. The perfect getaway! Notice for winter guests-4 wheel drive is needed in icy or snowy conditions.

Well behaved dogs are welcome, with no additional pet fees. A pet crate is provided if needed. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate cats. Please ensure your dog is dry and not muddy while indoors. Please do not allow dogs on furniture or bedding as a courtesy to other guests who may suffer from allergies. Please clean the crate before check out.

The driveway to the cabin is 1/4 mile gravel drive with 2 steep hills. In the winter months, it is advisable to drive a 4WD if we are expecting significant snow and ice accumulations. This is fairly rare but does happen every couple of years. Any towing required is at the guest’s expense.

Relax with the whole family at this peaceful historic one room schoolhouse built in 1903 situated on 13 acres. It was originally built as a Sunday School room but was later used as the community schoolhouse. Two original blackboards are still in the main room, along with numerous children's carvings on the original walls.The schoolhouse has been updated with a kitchen, bedroom, 1 1/2 bathrooms and a large wrap around deck. The headwaters of the Dan River can be seen and heard from the deck.

You will be totally enchanted by this unique cottage, which is nestled in the beautiful mountains of Southwest Virginia, near Floyd!

The space
You will be totally enchanted by this unique cottage! The open living space has a queen size Murphy bed that sleeps two comfortably. There is also a queen size air mattress for extra guests. The large bath has a wet room style shower with a beautiful claw foot tub. There is a large wood-burning fireplace for those cool fall and winter nights. In the summer enjoy the outdoor shower. The gardens are filled with wildflowers, peonies, and hydrangeas. There is a 4 tiered water garden complete with koi to soothe you as you sit on the large front porch. The Enchanted Cottage is close to Floyd, the Blue Ridge Parkway, New River State Park, and all that Southwest Virginia has to offer.

There is a slope to the entry steps and a staircase inside the cabin. For this reason, Tuliptree Cabin is not handicap accessible.

This is a true log cabin experience on a mountain. Sometimes, there is dense fog and there is a ladybug season.
