Beautiful cabin, spotlessly clean sleeps 1-5 and has a HOT TUB on the front porch, just outside the master bedroom. We are just off the Blue Ridge Parkway and our cabin is PET FRIENDLY (well-behaved dogs only!) Come stay at “It’s 5 O’Clock Here,” and enjoy the wonderful views, stocked fishing pond, fire pit with wood, free wifi/internet, the cool mountain weather, and all of the nearby activities. This cabin has all of the modern amenities. Our master bedroom features a queen-size memory foam mattress. Our loft bedroom is roomy and cozy and accessible by an interior ladder. We provide Keurig coffee maker, crockpots for easy cooking, and nice updated cookware.

The cabin includes a full kitchen with microwave, stove, oven, dishwasher, and refrigerator. Our living room has a flat screen television and a stone fireplace (gas logs). Outside, enjoy our spacious front covered deck, fishing gear, Adirondack chairs, and pond view! There is a permanent outdoor charcoal grill right outside the door.

Travel to nearby Buffalo Mountain for a breathtaking Piedmont view hike, ride gravel or mountain bikes on the New River Trail (a 57-mile rail-to-trail starting in Galax, VA). Or, just sit on the covered front porch that overlooks the well-stocked pond and listen to the quiet.

The cabin is located 15 minutes away from Mt. Airy, NC (‘Mayberry’ from the Andy Griffith Show), Hillsville, VA, and 20 minutes from Galax, VA. There are numerous local restaurants, breweries, and wineries, and often live bluegrass music. Recently completed, “It’s Time to Unwine” is our second cabin. - Our cabin is cleaned and sanitized after every departure. The hot tub filter is cleaned and sanitized after every stay, and replaced regularly. There are rules for enjoying the hot tub that must be adhered to in accordance with the rental agreement that you are required to sign. Read and understand the rules prior to arrival. You acknowledge the rules and cancellation policy when you sign the rental agreement. There will be a charge for unscheduled hot tub drain/refill. There will be a charge for misuse of the hot tub and/or cover. A copy of the rental agreement can be provided prior to booking upon request.

- We provide a small amount of free firewood and other items needed to get a fire started in the outdoor fire pit. More wood is available for purchase upon request. Ask host for details.

AWD/4WD required for the steep gravel drive (most 2WD cars won’t make it). Parking is available at the bottom if needed — it’s a bit of a walk up with luggage and not highly recommended although doable.

The cabin has central heat and A/C. Upstairs can get warm on hot days or cool during evenings but fans will circulate the air and there are space heaters if it gets chilly upstairs.

The cabin is made up with towels, bed linens, soaps, starter K-cups of coffee, basic spices, and paper goods — just bring your essentials and settle in. Bring along some firewood and charcoal if you wish to use those amenities.

You’re 15–20 minutes from New River State Park and about 25-40 minutes from the charming small towns of Galax, Hillsville, and Wytheville — perfect for a day trip or antique hunt before returning to your mountain hideaway.

They are separated enough for privacy if desired and close enough to walk between to visit with neighbors if booked in groups. We were driving a medium size 4WD SUV and pulling a small open motorcycle trailer. If we hugged the hill, it left room for access to the third yurt. If the tenants of the first yurt weren't parked properly, it completely blocked access to the middle yurt (The Bee Hive). Recommend meeting your neighbors and make sure they know where to park :) There's not a ton of room to turn a vehicle around, so plan ahead, especially when towing. We loved the deck(s)! One wraps around the yurt, the other is under the main deck and creates a nice semi-covered area to get our of the sun or rain. Falling rain creates a nice sound on the yurt. This quaint cabin (The Bear Den) is situated only feet from the east fork of Little Reed Island creek. Sit on the porch and relax listening to the harmonious melody of the water cascading over the beautiful outcropped rocks, or open the windows and let the tranquil water sounds lull you to sleep. The layout is simple and decorated to establish a sense of bygone charm and relaxation.

Feel free to hike the gravel road, roam the nearby woods, or hop in the creek. We do live on the property and you may see us working around the land. We would like to kindly ask our guests not to enter the buildings or barns on the property .

We are constantly working hard to improve the property to better serve our guests. We are close to beginning our second cabin and are still in the process of driveway and parking improvements, so please pardon our "dust"

Step back in time at Gracies Bunkhouse. No wifi but great connection. This 100 year old renovated cabin is heated by a newly installed Mini Split which serves for both heating and cooling. The main source of heat is a Jotul wood stove that has endless amounts of wood at your disposal to keep you warm.

The bunkhouse sits on 2 of a 16 acre parcel atop a very large waterfall. The waterfalls make a beautiful soothing backdrop noise as you listen from the back porch or anywhere outside. At the base of the falls in the distance is my other rental that is usually booked year round. It is always nice to know that my guest like their privacy and know not to venture too far down or too far up to the other houses.

You will not find a better place to hang out than on the back porch in a rocking chair or seated at the bar with a cup of coffee and a journal. Long range mountain views are best seen with the leaves off the trees but can also be seen from the deck and other parts of the property.

The only guest you will have are the occasional wild turkey, deer, or black bear that likes to show itself every now and then. There are apple trees, grape vines, wild cherries and wild raspberries that them plenty of food.

The bunkhouse was purchased in a state of distress at the same time as her sister property Healing Water Falls (the house below the falls.). She was built in 1910 and has many additions but was fully renovated in 2020 keeping honor to her heritage of a time more simple. A hot water on demand unit keeps the hot water flowing. Guest will find a fully stocked kitchen with new appliances including a gas stove and refrigerator. Pour over coffee maker and french press are how we do coffee here. You will not find a microwave, toaster, or coffee maker but there is an electric teapot for heating water. No dishwasher either but some of the best times are standing by the enameled double sink reminiscing about grandma doing the same back in her day.

The master bedroom has its own electric wood stove to offer ambiance and warmth and you will not find a better sleeping bed anywhere. Open the windows and let the mountain breeze blow through on spring nights as you cozy up under a comforter. A separate bedroom on the opposite side of the house has 2 twins with fairy lights on the ceiling to mimic stars outside.

There is a fire ring with tree stumps for sitting and plenty of wood on hand for burning. Nothing compares to nights around a campfire spent telling stories smelling the crisp mountain air.

There is much to be found in going back to basics and giving up things our modern world takes for granted. Gracies was loved back to life in every way. You will feel it when you enter. It's like coming home to an old memory. Won't you come and experience her warmth?

Windsong sits up in the treetops, with an upper and lower deck. Lower deck has a propane firepit, upper deck has a hot tub. Upper deck is gated for children and pets. Enjoy the hottub nestled in the treetops and under the stars, perfect for stargazing at night. Internet, Three miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and three miles from I-77, nearby hiking, horseback riding, canoe and kayak rentals, and ziplining. Spend a day touring the nearby wineries and breweries in the area, and enjoy grilling by the yurt for your evening meal, and sitting by the firepit with wood provided. Nearby dining and also delivery. Several nice dining spots in fancy gap. Great hiking is a short drive away, Devils Den Preserve is less than five miles away. There is a $25 pet fee.

- The creek has a steep grade to get down to so it’s recommended to view from the decks/yard. Enter at your own risk.
- The driveway is gravel and runs parallel to the road. Some may think nothing of it but if you're not used to rural roads you may want to arrive in daylight to acclimate.
- There is a second cabin on the property. It is a separate space with a carport and large pine tree in between.

GUEST ACCESS:
The entire home is available for your use other than a locked owners closet located in the bathroom as well as a storage shed and closet outside. They will not be accessed during your stay and will remain locked.

Fear not, we have a cell booster hooked-up at the cabin that will allow “most” cell phone users to easily make phone calls and reach the internet for exchanging emails, checking stocks, game scores, making on-line purchases, checking the news, etc. The cell service won't handle streaming or doing lots of internet work where fast connections are needed.

From your cabin enjoy walking/hiking along the river or county roads. A perfect area to kick off your shoes and wade the stream and even try your luck at trout fishing. In the evenings, enjoy the deck or fire pit. In addition to picnicking on the deck we offer a riverside picnic table and a stairway to reach the stream and our artesian well. The table, stairway and well are located about 200 yards across the concrete bridge - you can't miss them. In adverse weather, enjoy great DVD’s, books and/or board games, curled up in the knotty bed or sitting in front of our gas log fireplace.

Coffee lovers and connoisseurs, you’re going to love the Knotty Cabin. We not only offer a Keurig with pods (bring your favorite though), but also provide a top-of-the-line OXO stainless steel coffee brewer along with fresh beans and a grinder. We even cater to those who will “never change” with Folger’s Instant coffee crystals as well! So, we have you covered! Even non coffee drinkers…we’ve got some Keurig coca and/or tea for you!

Notice we emphasized the river in our headline. After doing our due diligence in research we learned waterfront properties (rivers, lakes, ponds, oceans, etc.) are what many renters are looking for. Be assured you will see and hear the river immediately – it sits bold and beautiful in view of the deck. So, you will certainly not experience the “Where’s the Beef (water)” syndrome that you and others may have encountered with various other rental sites.

We do hope you will visit and stay with us. As for rates, there are some in the county that are cheaper and a number more expensive. But in terms of “value” or “bang for your buck” (the river view, the rustic furniture and our amenities) it doesn’t get any better than the Knotty Cabin with the Knotty Bed.

The Historic Buffalo Mtn Presbyterian Rock Church – one of the famous 6 rock churches built in the early 1900’s by Rev Bob Childress and placed in the Nat. Reg. of Historic Places. (1.9 miles away - all six churches are nearby w/ the furthest being 18.7 miles away).

Blacksnake Meadery – a farm winery specializing in honey wine. (2.1 miles away)

Kanawha Valley Arena – a unique attraction with a western theme and a saloon serving food, beer & wine and entertainment. They host motorsports events such as mud bogs, drag racing and ATV rodeos. (3.7 miles away)

Olde Mill Golf Resort – a very nice course in the rolling countryside of Carroll Co. Ratings from various sources tend to place them most often in the mid to upper 4 range on a 5-point scale which means they are definitely well thought of by golfers. (9.3 miles away)

Mayberry Trading Post Built in 1892, (over 130 years old) it originally housed the Mayberry Post Office as well as a general store. Most agree it’s where the name Mayberry originated in the Andy Griffith show. Fun place to visit. (10.9 miles away)

Buffalo Mountain Natural Area Preserve, named for its shape, the preserve is one of the most significant natural areas in VA supporting numerous rare plants and some rare animals. Public access is only via walking trails. (11.5 miles away)

- "This cabin is a great hide-a-way located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. It is located beside Laurel Springs Creek in a beautiful forest setting. It is a one bedroom, one bath cabin that is perfect for a great get-a-way for a couple. It was so quiet. We could only hear the rippling of the creek as it flowed in front of the cabin. And the night sky! There is no light pollution. On a clear night it seemed you could see thousands of stars. The deck is a great place to relax, whether you are catching some rays, star gazing, reading, or enjoying a meal. The interior of the cabin is awesome. It has that true cozy cabin feel with all of the knotty pine walls. The furniture is custom made and gives a rustic appearance but is comfortable and relaxing. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you might need to prepare a snack or a special meal. It also has new appliances and a fireplace visible from both the kitchen and living area. My wife and I have travelled a lot and stayed many places. The owner’s attention to detail to make their client’s stay inviting and enjoyable is one of the best we have seen or experienced. The Blue Ridge Parkway is close by and well as several historical places to visit. Plenty of activities and events in the area, (some based on the season of course), but whether you choose an active day or a day of solitude and relaxation, we found the Knotty Cabin is the perfect location.
