The Nuthouse Cottage, located on 48 acres of farmland with a recreational pond, is a three story home with a well-appointed and convenient kitchen. The comfy living room has a gas fireplace and opens onto porches with rockers and tables, a gas grill, a vined pergola with a chiminea, and perennial gardens.

On the second floor are two bedrooms with queen beds and a shared bath with a spacious walk-in tiled shower. The master bedroom features a gas-burning fireplace while the second bedroom has a spiral staircase up to the Crow’s Nest. This nice perch has a 360-degree view and is perfect for curling up on the window seats to read and nap. Little ones love sleeping up in the stars.

Walks through the adjacent hardwood sanctuary with an understory of ferns and mountain laurel always reveal natural surprises. Birds and wildlife abound. This beautifully decorated log cabin is located on a rural mountaintop and surrounded by forests, laurel thickets, and many varieties of wildlife. Enjoy many outdoors activities such as hiking the Appalachian Trail, exploring the wild horse colonies of Grayson Highlands State Park (called the 'sweetest miles of the AT [Appalachian Trail]' by Backpacker Magazine, August 2007), or taking a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are stocked trout streams and many historical places in the surrounding areas to explore.

The kitchen is well equipped and all linens are provided. Relax on the big wrap around porches as dusk falls or as the sun rises over the crest and enjoy nature at its finest as the turkeys fly over the ridge, or the deer emerge from their resting places in the laurels. Don't forget your camera!

All automobile drivers are encouraged to use a low gear and a steady moderate pace to approach the cabin. The driveway for this cabin is gravel, fairly straight, and has about a 30 degree incline. There is also a water break two thirds of the way up the hill. We encourage motorcycle riders to seriously consider this before booking this cabin.

You can sit on the porch and enjoy the rolling hills or roast a marsh mellows on your fire pit by the pond. We are located about 2 miles away from the popular trout stream Helton Creek, where you can catch large rainbow trout or just sit and listen to the water. If you had rather go hiking we have Grayson Highlands National Park located 6 miles to the entrance.. Or if you had rather take a stroll down the mountain on a bicycle you can do the Virginia Creeper trail that is 12.5 miles. We are also located close to the New river where you can enjoy kayaking, tubbing, canoeing and or fishing. We have 4 kayaks for you to use if you would like to go down the river and lots of locations to rent canoes, tubes and additional kayaks if needed. So many options to choose from all of them are located just minutes from our home.

Our property is gently nestled up against the mountains of Mount Rogers National Recreation Area. Located only 2 miles from Grayson Highlands State Park main entrance, we also have a trail leading into it the park behind the cabin at the far back of the property following the creek. A pass to gain free entry into the park for one vehicle is provided with your stay.

Enjoy the great outdoors, fish the stocked river running through the property, bike the Creeper Trail, hike Mount Rogers, kayak the New River, or drive up to Mt Rogers for some sightseeing.

Mount Airy, home of the world-famous Andy Griffith, is only about an hour away. In this little town you can enjoy many of their yearly festivals as well as eat at the Snappy Lunch where Andy himself frequented. While there, take time to visit all the places that inspired the classic television show from the 1960s. West Jefferson is located 35 minutes away where you can enjoy plenty of hometown hospitality, delicious food, and tons of quaint little shops lining main street. Situated in a quiet mountain top, centrally located , this ‘cool grandparents’ cottage is simple, clean, comfortable, vintage, cozy and budget friendly for couples. Nothing fancy, nothing posh. This 82 year old well-loved home has had only one owner and though greatly cared for, shows its age in some places. Expect to find some loving wear, quaint aging and charming patina both inside and outside.

The mountain & country climate is excellent for cool days and evenings from spring to fall; as such, we do have fall, winter and spring storms that may bring unusually high amounts of rain or snow to the area, which may cause high humidity and conditions that accompany humid areas and as such, may bring out wildlife such as ladybugs and such small non threatening wild life. Once again this house was built in 1940, in a mountainous and wooded area, with all of the conditions that may arise as a result. If one is particularly sensitive to the “old house smell“, or to close encounters of wildlife this is not the house for you.
** *any issues discovered at check in or during your stay must be reported immediately to allow host to verify and if need be correct the issue in a timely manner. If the issue(s) are not reported when noticed, guest waives all rights and assumes all responsibility.

“Over the River and Through the Woods” is a two for one rental, one named “Over the River” and the other cabin is named “Through the Woods”. There are 2 separate tiny homes next to each other joined by a wooden walkway. Each home has a queen bedroom, full bathroom, kitchen, gas fireplace, covered deck and rocking chairs. Perfect for 2 couples that want to vacation with each other but yet have their own privacy. Both homes sleeps 1-4 guests with their furry family member. Bed and bath linens are provided.

If you’re looking for a small getaway with privacy, seclusion, river access and to escape the hustle and bustle of every day life, this is it!

Well behaved dogs are welcome with a $100 pet fee per pet and must be approved by management. There is a 2 dog limit. We also require our guests to clean up after their pets “business” to avoid additional cleaning fees and pets are not allowed on the furniture.

Located in northern Ashe County, Crumpler, NC, which is approximately 30 minutes north of West Jefferson and Boone is approximately an hour southwest from our cabins. Our homes offers privacy and seclusion overlooking the river through the woods with river access. Just a walk or very short drive to the river where you will have access to enter and exit on the North Fork of the New River. Riverside Canoe and Tube Rentals is approximately a short 10 minute drive (3.5 miles) along with the New River State Park King’s Creek Access.

Each cabin is stocked the same with a full kitchen, which has a regular coffee maker, microwave, oven and fridge. However, there is NOT a dishwasher nor washer and dryer at either cabin. The living room has a gas fireplace (seasonal), 32” Roku TV, and a futon for seating. Each cabin has a queen bed and full bathroom with tub/shower combo. There are rocking chairs under the covered deck at each home. There is a wall unit in the living room with heat and AC along with a ceiling fan in each home.

Enjoy spending time around our wood burning fire pit (wood not provided). You’ll love the taste of your steaks and burgers on our charcoal grill, too! After spending time with us, you’ll not want to leave!

--Our cabins are accessed by a steep graveled driveway. We recommend front wheel drive vehicles. Not motorcycle friendly. Tire chains and 4WD/AWD may be necessary during the winter months.

--There is no land-line phone in our cabins. Cell phone coverage is not guaranteed. The home does have WIFI so you may be able to call using WIFI calling.

Winter weather in the Blue Ridge Mountains can occur from November through April. The majority of our homes are accessed by mountain roads, which will be icy in winter weather. For the safety of you and your party, please be prepared to drive in snow and ice. This means 4-wheel drive, good tires, and chains. It is YOUR responsibility to be prepared for hazardous road conditions. There will be NO refunds, allowances, or date changes resulting from your negligence in this matter.

- "Loved the house, very clean. Picture make it look closer to the water than actual is, we were a little bummed about that but all else was a great trip. Used River Girls for kayak rental first day, great place but 45 mins from house, only used them for the discount with renting this house. The next day we use New River Outfitters which is only 15 mins away, great experience with both rentals. Wish they had a table on the porch to do outdoor meals, but we made it work with ball chairs that we brought from home. Beds are very comfortable, both cabins were very clean and had great amenities and very well stocked for a rental. We did have one problem with the smoke detector going off randomly, but it was going out, so we just unplugged and all was good. Staff with company was quick to return call and answered all our questions. Would definitely use High Mountain Realty again to rent."

he Tiny Home features all hardwoods inside. The upstairs loft has a king size sleep number and unique views of the pond and horse farm (NOTE the loft is short and is basically a crawl in/out from the custom library ladder from main floor).

The living room has 3 comfortable bench couches with views of the pond and horse farm. There is a Smart TV and Wifi access with FAST Starlink Internet! The space has a mini split Heat/AC furnace operated by a remote. It has a full bathroom with walk-in shower and waterfall shower head with relaxing hot water with our endless on-demand hot water heater.

The kitchenette is stocked with the basics needed to prepare meals such as utensils and 3 different sized pot/pan/skillet. It also has a coffee maker, mini fridge, microwave, toaster and two burner hot plate. There is a gas grill on the porch for your grilling needs as well and outdoor chairs and patio table.

Enjoy the surrounding activities or just Sit on the patio/deck and just take in the view or read that long overdue book. Experience the evening sounds and outstanding star gazing (low light pollution) beside the fire pit. Whatever your pleasure this special spot is sure to be a cherished memory

The tiny home sits RIGHT ON THE POND-SIDE so you can also enjoy the pond views, sounds and watching the fish (no fishing or swimming/wading allowed). The Pond area is shared with another rental, the Gypsy Wagon, but it is located on the opposite side of the pond so that you and the guests at the Wagon each have very private settings but you may see/hear/interact with each other (with safe social distance) from your opposite sides of the pond

We live on the farm and are available to guests if needed, otherwise this is your vacation to relax and enjoy your home away from home

The deck on the Tiny Home sits POND-SIDE! So please take note/caution that you are “waterfront” and use diligent intelligence when walking/moving about the area. There is NO fishing, swimming or wading allowed in the pond! We do provide a life saving buoy in case of emergency.

Also NOTE that the bedroom is a LOFT. You must climb a small custom library ladder to access the loft. The loft itself boasts a king sleep number bed, however the space is small and short (watch your head), so it’s a crawl in/out style loft.

*Hot Water* this is tiny home living, while we DO have hot water, it is a small holding tank so showers won`t stay hot for long periods of time without the tank filling back up - so if you want a 30 min hot shower and so does your partner/friend then this is not the space for you ;)

This Tiny Home is built to host 2 people but if you bunk in together well it can host 4 total. If 4 guests....2 will have to sleep on the sofa which is a |_| shape, this one person on a small side and the other on the opposite side.

We also have Overnight Stalls in the barn structure and you can BRING YOUR OWN HORSE (for additional fee) - or there are Horse Rental Rides nearby.

Though we love dogs and animals - this tiny home is not pet-friendly.

You are staying at Rugby Creek! Ridge Top Trailwalk is open to your use! Please keep pets on a leash at all times! you are welcome to walk in the woods and follow any trails there - on the farm you can walk around any gravel areas and visit our farm animals (electric fencing but gates are a good place to visit with the animals but DONT open any gates or enter any fields please).

To help us keep costs and fees down please be mindful of leaving on excessive lights on when you are gone from the rental.

The home and property are clean and well kept. A couple of minuses is lack of wi-fi and TV service. Getting to this place is challenging if you are uncomfortable with country roads. The main roads coming from any direction are two lanes and curvy. the last road is unpaved and one lane.The final approach is a steep farm road.. An all wheel drive is recommended The good news is that there is very little traffic.I grew up in this area so I am OK with country roads. - "This was an awesome little cabin right at the base of Mt. Rodgers. The cabin was super clean and exactly what I needed for this short trip. I would have loved to stay longer to explore the property more but was only here for a short one-night stay this time, so I did not get to check out the trials on property. The cabin is only about 10 minutes from Grayson Highlands State Park and the Mt. Rodgers Natural area, so there is lots to do and is very close to some of the best hiking in the area. Our brand new luxury RV sleeps two adults and one child. Bring your own sleeping bags, pillows, and bath towels. We provide electric blankets and a space heater.

REPEAT: We DO NOT provide blankets, sheets, pillows, or towels.

NO PETS OR SHOES INSIDE CAMPER. You must have an alternative sleeping arrangement for your dog, and you must have a plan for shoes, ie flip flops, slippers, etc. Evidence of a pet inside the camper will incur a $350 fee. No exceptions.

Our RV shelter does provide a REAL TOILET, a real shower, and a kitchenette with:

-a sink that we salvaged from the old house
-a small fridge/freezer
-an induction hot plate for easy cooking
-an electric kettle
-a french press.

Enjoy your meals on the picnic table under the shelter. Listen to the sound of the creek as you relax under the sky. We provide two Adirondack chairs with foot rests near the fire pit. We DO NOT provide firewood.

Camper and bathhouse are complete with electrical receptacles and USB ports to keep your devices charged while you retreat from the world.

Under 90 sq ft, it is definitely a Tiny Home, but this little Wagon was custom designed to make you as spacious and open to nature as possible. It has a raised center ceiling with nautical windows that let in great light and make standing comfortable even for those who are tall. It has a 12 pane glass front door, combined with 2 large side windows that allow all the natural light you could need. Then in the evenings there are lights tucked into the pine woodwork that set off the inside with a peaceful glow. This Tiny Home boasts a Double Sized bed with a very comfortable memory foam mattress. Stay comfortable year-round with a small mini-split system offering AC and Heat. There is a small coffee maker, toaster oven, hot plate, mini fridge and microwave for your conveniences.

Please bring bottled water ( or you can use the faucet outside around the back it’s from our well and we drink it, but we can’t say it’s potable)

Outside you will find a small deck and grass yard offering a nice place to sit in your zero-gravity chairs while listening to the tiny creek that runs by filing the pond below. Here you are also provided with a outdoor gas grill for cooking as well.

***There is no bathroom facility however a short walk down and across the creek is a private port-a-jon for your needs. PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO SHOWER FACILITY!

Go lay on a blanket in the grass by the pond, feed the Koi Fish, relax while gazing at the nights galaxies and stars (very low light pollution in our area).

This certainly is the spot to relax and renew. NO Phone service at the Wagon itself, there is wifi (connectivity to communicate with but slower speeds). We hope you are here mostly for the disconnect anyway!

The entire Gypsy Wagon area is yours to use. The Pond Area is generally only used by Wagon Guests....on rare occasions you may find our family at the pond area but we try to leave it your own private oasis during your stay. The port-a-jon near the Wagon is yours to use.

We live on the property and are here if you need us but we also leave you to enjoy your peace at your own get-away spot

We are 4 miles from Grayson Highlands State Park. Close to the New River, Mt. Rogers Wilderness area, The VA Creeper Trail, The New River Trail etc. Lots of quaint small towns, dining and shops as well.

Gravel drive up to your private parking area - then a short pathway up to your Gypsy Wagon

This is an active and working horse farm and non-profit animal rescue.
The location of the Wagon is tucked into the woods privately and is bordered by a horse pasture. You may occasionally hear horses, donkeys or dogs....a diesel truck or tractor sometimes as well.
DO NOT enter the pastures/fields below and beside the cabin. These have electric fencing for livestock (sometimes livestock is in the field and sometimes not). Do not let children or pets into the fields either.

If you wish to go for a walk you may go slightly downhill then at the driveway Y - go RIGHT along the outside of the fenceline - you can follow all the fencelines on the outside of the pastures. From there you can also access other foot trails through our woods. You are staying at Rugby Creek! Ridge Top Trailwalk is open to your use! Please keep pets on a leash at all times! you are welcome to walk in the woods and follow any trails there - even down to the farm where you can walk around any gravel areas and visit our farm animals (electric fencing but gates are a good place to visit with the animals but DONT open any gates or enter any fields please).

To help us keep costs and fees down please be mindful of leaving on excessive lights on when you are gone from the rental.

Jordy's Creek sits on a 5.5 acre lot bordered by pastures with a fence line. Guests at the Peace Haven Park Model have access to the back lot across the stream (Shippy Branch). The lot consists of wooded areas with a large open area around the home. Feel free to take a short hike up the old access road behind the home to get a view back over to the Grayson Highlands.

The washer and dryer is reserved for guests staying four or more nights in the home. Detergent will be provided along with dryer balls. We ask that only the provided detergent be used and refrain from using dryer sheets.

Please note: During peak season (April - October) we rent a small tent camping site (Dreams by the Stream) at the front of the lot as you first enter the property. Tent campers have access to the front of the lot. The front and rear lots are split by a tree line and hill so privacy is maintained.
