This early 1800's miller's cabin has been lovingly restored and is ready for your relaxing getaway. Only 7 miles from Main Street Abingdon, this cozy retreat is perfectly located for family fun. Situated a few yards from the North Fork of the Holston River, you have easy access to fishing and Adventure Mendota, a local tubing outfitter. We are minutes from Bristol TN/VA and Bristol Motor Speedway. Hiking, biking, fishing and hunting are enjoyed by area residents. Local favorites include the Barter Theatre, the Martha Washington Inn, Heartwood, The Creeper Trail (including the Appalachian Trail), and a wonderful variety of local food fare. The Highlands Festival, Bristol Rhythm & Roots and many other cultural events make our area an excellent vacation destination.

The interior of our property is the original miller's cabin built in the 1820's. In the early 1900's, the cabin was expanded and a clapboard exterior added. Master bedroom and bathroom are on the main floor. ***Please note, that the two upstairs bedroom have extremely steep steps. This adds to the uniqueness of our cabin, but could be an issue for visitors with mobility issues.

A full kitchen will lend itself to meal preparation and entertainment. Microwave, coffee maker and all cookware are provided.

It was very private and picturesque. The cabin itself was like walking back in time only with modern amenities. We could tell that Regina loved it as well by the loving way it was decorated and all of her personal touches to make us comfortable! We loved all the details and it was fun checking them all out. Abingdon is only about 7 minutes away and we were lucky enough to hit the festival week. There are many great restaurants to eat at and things to do like the Virginia Creeper Trail. We hope to visit again. It would all be especially gorgeous in the Fall for leaf peepers!"

The house is only 2 miles from the Creeper Trail and South Holston Lake. It is a 15 minute drive from Abingdon, home of the most famous stage in Virginia - Barter Theatre. Likewise it is only a 15 minute drive to Damascus, the heart of the Creeper Trail with nice restaurants and bike rentals.

Damascus is also just 12 minutes away and you are not a far drive from Mount Rogers State Park and White Top Mountain. We are located at the midpoint of the open part of the Creeper Trail.

- "In the words of our 8 year old…”super great place”. ☺️ We thoroughly enjoyed the Smiling Hill Farmhouse for our family Christmas. The house was gorgeous, had everything we needed, and the layout was perfect. Also, kudos for the extremely comfortable beds! The front porch was perfect for viewing the mountain sunset and our son challenged us to several games of horse at the basketball goal. We were excited for the fire pit (what a lovely setup!) but it was too windy while we there. Next time! The biggest hit of all was that Santa had no problem finding us! ☺️"

Come and enjoy our home in beautiful Washington County VA. Our home sits on 18 acres of natures beauty mix of wood and pasture land. As you walk through the door you enter the great room where the whole family can gather. The kitchen is fully equipped for all those home cooked meals. Sit and have a romantic meal or just relax in the living room by the warm fire. The first floor also offers a mud room, laundry room, full bathroom with tub/shower combo and “The Americana Room” with two double beds. As you walk up the stair straight ahead will be your second full bathroom (Tub Only). On your right you’ll enter “The Bicycle Room” with a queen size bed. Directly across the hall you will enter “The Farm Room” with a queen size bed. This room offers it own private balcony with a table and two chairs. An amazing place to start your morning with a cup of coffee or end the day holding the one you love watching the sunset. As you go back to the hallway take the stair to the third floor “The Kids Retreat”. You will find on your left a TV, DVD player and a couple Big Joe Chairs. To your right is a double size bed that is sitting closer to the floor. This room offers amazing views of Whitetop mountain! We are all kids at heart… Adults are welcome too!! Our home offers Central heating and air on the 1st and 2nd floor and a AC unit on the 3rd floor. In the fall and winter months you will have a gas fireplace on the 1st floor and baseboard heating on the 3rd floor. Now that your have toured the inside of our home lets go outside. Our beautiful coved porch offers three rocking chairs for relaxing and telling stories of the past. Our deck offers a dining table with six chairs for enjoying nature while you eat and then you can relax on the patio furniture and watch the stars while enjoying the quietness of the air. Don’t forget about our charcoal grill located on the left side of the house. We also have a fire pit outback with six chairs for roasting marshmallows and making s’mores. Completely renovated early 1900's family home just off Main Street and in walking distance to Historic Downtown Abingdon, this ultra dog-friendly, fully furnished home has updated modern conveniences, an unique entertainment attic for games, movies, reading and more, outdoor living with a wrap around porch, upper deck and lower patio, a 6ft fenced back yard on 1/2 acre and easy access to dining, shopping, theater and more, including the Creeper Trail using the Urban Pathway just a block away!

This is a multi-level home with a lot of stairs. The main floor includes a Living Room with TV and electric fireplace, the Dining Rooms, Kitchen, a half bath with a door out to the upper deck and the Primary Bedroom and Bath. All other areas are reached by staircases.

The home has 3 large bedrooms and 3 ½ bathrooms for your comfort.
• The “Peacock Suite” is located on the main floor with a king bed, electric fireplace, ensuite bathroom with walk in shower and walk in closet. Thereis no bathtub on this floor.

• The “Florida” bedroom is located on the lower floor with a queen bed,
and walk-in closet.

• The “Puppy Love” bedroom is also located on the lower floor with a twin daybed with pull out twin trundle, a decorative fireplace, flat screen tv, closet and a desk.

• The lower floor includes a full guest bath with shower/tub combination

• The attic floor has a full bath with claw foot tub only, no shower.

• There is a half-bath located on the main floor by the back door

We have a large, fully equipped kitchen with all you need to get started, such as pots and pans, oils, spices, baking dishes and wine glasses. We also provide a combination coffee maker for either making a pot of coffee or for single use. The kitchen island seats 3 comfortably and the dining table will seat 6.

The Attic...

The attic is all about fun and relaxation, even when you work! We have created various activity spaces for all to enjoy.
• Theater cove with a pull-down screen and projector for game time or
movie night!
• Game corner with multiple games available from dominoes, cards, board games, etc.
• Reading nook to use as a dedicated workspace or to curl up in the
window seat with a good book

You will have access to the full property with the exception of storage room and cabinets and the outdoor storage garage.
Other things to note

As a long term guest, we will provide a "starter pack" of basic supplies to keep you comfortable until you can get to the store and find your preferred items.

Additionally, for stays over 30 days, our cleaners will provide a "refresh clean" every 2 weeks (included in stay).

We welcome dogs as a part of your stay, 2 dogs are included in the booking, for additional dogs, please reach out to us. Additional fees may apply. We are unable to welcome other types of pets due to personal allergies.

Our newly-remodeled, comfy cottage is located on the banks of the North Fork of the Holston River. One bedroom with a queen-sized bed, living room, kitchen and dining area, and a lovely south-facing porch.

The cottage is surrounded by our 76 acre property. You'll be nestled in the midst of an old Christmas tree plantation.

The cottage has a nice living room space with 50" flat screen smart TV. The combined full kitchen and dining area contains an electric range and oven, microwave, fridge and freezer for guests to use. The bedroom boasts a comfy queen bed and newly-remodeled full bath with a shower. The covered front porch of the cottage has chairs for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful view.

We also maintain a network of walking/jogging paths up and down the river and around the property. We regularly see ospreys, eagles, and deer, plus the occasional fox and otter.
