This early 1800's miller's cabin has been lovingly restored and is ready for your relaxing getaway. Only 7 miles from Main Street Abingdon, this cozy retreat is perfectly located for family fun. Situated a few yards from the North Fork of the Holston River, you have easy access to fishing and Adventure Mendota, a local tubing outfitter. We are minutes from Bristol TN/VA and Bristol Motor Speedway. Hiking, biking, fishing and hunting are enjoyed by area residents. Local favorites include the Barter Theatre, the Martha Washington Inn, Heartwood, The Creeper Trail (including the Appalachian Trail), and a wonderful variety of local food fare. The Highlands Festival, Bristol Rhythm & Roots and many other cultural events make our area an excellent vacation destination.

The interior of our property is the original miller's cabin built in the 1820's. In the early 1900's, the cabin was expanded and a clapboard exterior added. Master bedroom and bathroom are on the main floor. ***Please note, that the two upstairs bedroom have extremely steep steps. This adds to the uniqueness of our cabin, but could be an issue for visitors with mobility issues.

A full kitchen will lend itself to meal preparation and entertainment. Microwave, coffee maker and all cookware are provided.

Abingdon is only about 7 minutes away and we were lucky enough to hit the festival week. There are many great restaurants to eat at and things to do like the Virginia Creeper Trail. Old Fairview Cabin is a beautiful one-bedroom, custom built log cabin. It is located just minutes from downtown historic Abingdon and minutes from the Virginia Creeper Trail. It offers a relaxing and refreshing atmosphere. Old Fairview is family owned and operated, insuring an immaculate and refreshing log cabin ready for your visit. The cabin was built by the owner and his family from logs dating back to the 1800's. It is located on the property of the owner, nestled in a patch of trees providing a very peaceful and relaxing setting. There is an outdoor fireplace on a covered back porch and a covered front porch where you can sit and enjoy the scenery. The cabin is fully furnished and has a full kitchen with stove, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. The cabin features a loft bedroom with a queen bed and small antique twin bed. There is cable TV and a large walk-in tile shower. Bathroom is on lower level and the bedroom is on the upper level.

Welcome to our Vacation Home. The house offers a huge yard with fire pit and creek located at 26486 Denton Valley Rd. Abingdon, VA. Enjoy watching the birds from the back deck. In the summer we have an abundance of hummingbirds that visit our feeders. We are in the process of converting our 2 acre field into a pollinator's paradise with the addition of a flower farm. The house is only 2 miles from the Creeper Trail and South Holston Lake. It is a 15 minute drive from Abingdon, home of the most famous stage in Virginia - Barter Theatre. Likewise it is only a 15 minute drive to Damascus, the heart of the Creeper Trail with nice restaurants and bike rentals.

This area is an outdoor lover's dream come true!

Damascus is also just 12 minutes away and you are not a far drive from Mount Rogers State Park and White Top Mountain. We are located at the midpoint of the open part of the Creeper Trail.

Mont Calm is a Historic Landmark on the National Register, built by Governor David Campbell in 1827. The Guesthouse sits on a quiet 12 acres in the center of Abingdon. The driveway meets the Virginia Creeper Trail head in town. The Barter Theatre, restaurants, shopping and the rest of Downtown are only a short walk away! Easily access all that the area has to offer like hiking, fly fishing, mtn biking, rock climbing, etc. The Guesthouse is quite modest but should have everything you need. One bedroom has a queen and a twin, one a full size, a queen, and a twin, and the third has bunk beds. The is one full bath and one half bath. The living room has a 47" flat screen tv, with digital antenna(no cable), DVD, and Amazon Fire TV/Wifi. There is a dining room off of the fully equipped kitchen. Coffee maker, toaster, microwave, oven/range, refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. We have fans in every room, ac units, and a furnace in the winter time. There is a front porch and back porch and a massive front yard! You will not find a better location!

The house was gorgeous, had everything we needed, and the layout was perfect. Also, kudos for the extremely comfortable beds! The front porch was perfect for viewing the mountain sunset and our son challenged us to several games of horse at the basketball goal. We were excited for the fire pit (what a lovely setup!) but it was too windy while we there. Next time! The biggest hit of all was that Santa had no problem finding us! ☺️"

Beautifully renovated space in Historic Alvarado. The space features a brand new King size bed with luxurious linens... super comfy and cozy! There is a flat screen TV in the bedroom perfectly positioned to watch if you want to lounge around and catch a good movie. On the other side of the bedroom is a cozy chair to relax in and read a good book. A large 2nd level private porch awaits you just outside your bedroom door. Great to watch the river, the bikes riding by, and the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening while listening to the sounds of tree frogs in the distance.
The second Flat Screen TV is in the living room along with the comfortable oversized leather sofa, loveseat and ottoman. All TV's have access to most streaming services and Netflix. Terrific WIFI and boosted cell phone signal is included at this property. If you feel the need to get some work done while you are here, by all means, bring your laptop!
The spa inspired bathroom has been newly renovated and includes big fluffy towels, Shampoo, conditioner and soaps. The Kitchen includes a cute shabby chic farm table for 2, A small stove, Mini fridge, Microwave, Keurig coffee, plenty of snacks,and bottled water.

As you walk through the door you enter the great room where the whole family can gather. The kitchen is fully equipped for all those home cooked meals. As you go back to the hallway take the stair to the third floor “The Kids Retreat”. You will find on your left a TV, DVD player and a couple Big Joe Chairs. To your right is a double size bed that is sitting closer to the floor. This room offers amazing views of Whitetop mountain! We are all kids at heart… Adults are welcome too!! Our home offers Central heating and air on the 1st and 2nd floor and a AC unit on the 3rd floor. In the fall and winter months you will have a gas fireplace on the 1st floor and baseboard heating on the 3rd floor. Now that your have toured the inside of our home lets go outside. Our beautiful coved porch offers three rocking chairs for relaxing and telling stories of the past. Our deck offers a dining table with six chairs for enjoying nature while you eat and then you can relax on the patio furniture and watch the stars while enjoying the quietness of the air. Don’t forget about our charcoal grill located on the left side of the house. We also have a fire pit outback with six chairs for roasting marshmallows and making s’mores. This is a multi-level home with a lot of stairs. The main floor includes a Living Room with TV and electric fireplace, the Dining Rooms, Kitchen, a half bath with a door out to the upper deck and the Primary Bedroom and Bath. All other areas are reached by staircases.

The home has 3 large bedrooms and 3 ½ bathrooms for your comfort.
• The “Peacock Suite” is located on the main floor with a king bed, electric fireplace, ensuite bathroom with walk in shower and walk in closet. Thereis no bathtub on this floor.

• The “Florida” bedroom is located on the lower floor with a queen bed,
and walk-in closet.

• The “Puppy Love” bedroom is also located on the lower floor with a twin daybed with pull out twin trundle, a decorative fireplace, flat screen tv, closet and a desk.

• The lower floor includes a full guest bath with shower/tub combination

• The attic floor has a full bath with claw foot tub only, no shower.

• There is a half-bath located on the main floor by the back door

We have a large, fully equipped kitchen with all you need to get started, such as pots and pans, oils, spices, baking dishes and wine glasses. We also provide a combination coffee maker for either making a pot of coffee or for single use. The kitchen island seats 3 comfortably and the dining table will seat 6.

The Attic...

The attic is all about fun and relaxation, even when you work! We have created various activity spaces for all to enjoy.

As a long term guest, we will provide a "starter pack" of basic supplies to keep you comfortable until you can get to the store and find your preferred items.

Additionally, for stays over 30 days, our cleaners will provide a "refresh clean" every 2 weeks (included in stay).

We welcome dogs as a part of your stay, 2 dogs are included in the booking, for additional dogs, please reach out to us. Additional fees may apply. We are unable to welcome other types of pets due to personal allergies.

Our place is very unique, in that you can't drive up to the guest house. Guests have to use the parking spaces that are on the side of the road, then walk across a 150 ft. bridge, and then walk 500 feet to the guest house. It will be advisable to arrive during daylight hours. The property adjoins the North Fork Holsten river, which you will have access to.

The space
In the guest house, one of the couches is a pull out, where 2 or more can then sleep on.
You have access to the river, to do swimming, boating, and fishing. And there is a fire pit, by the river. You may need to bring your own firewood. We do allow pets, for a $10 per pet per day fee.

Our home is ~1000sf, has three small bedrooms and one bathroom. Bedrooms have blackout curtains. Perfect for a family of 4 or two couples.

Guests have access to 3BR, full kitchen, full bathroom, living room with pullout couch, and front porch. Please do not access basement. Washer and dryer are available but we do not provide detergent. Deck is in fair condition...please wear shoes. Front porch is a great spot to sit outdoors and watch passersby on the Abingdon Urban Pathway.

Cell coverage (we use Verizon) is good in Abingdon and our Xfinity Internet supports 100Mbps+.

Bathtub was reglazed this year. Please take caution when getting in as it may be a little slippery.

There is a flight of stairs up to the entrance of Somewhere Over The Rainbow. The Garrett Creek Clubhouse features a yoga studio and a second suite on the opposite side. You will have your own private space all to your self in the suite but may see others outside on the property.

Our house is a 2016 two story bungalow located in the heart of Abingdon VA within walking distance to the Barter Theatre, Virginia Creeper Trail and local restaurants. The upstairs bedroom/suite has a queen bed and full pull-out sofa and Youtube TV. A mini frig is in the hallway outside your room. The private bathroom is located across the hall with tub/shower with heated floors and fully equipped with towels, soap and hairdryer etc. Feel free to enjoy our front porch. Shared space.

The space
The paved driveway is in the back of the house off of Madison Street and is steep. If you bring your bicycles, we have space to store them. We also host long distance bicycle riders through a site called Warmshowers. If we happen to have a biker, they will downstairs. There is an active train a block from our house.

As of 2/17/25
The Virginia Creeper Trail is now open for about 15 miles from downtown Abingdon all the way to Damascus and bike shuttle services are operating between the two. The town of Damascus suffered considerable flooding damage, and the Creeper Trail is closed beyond that point, but the downtown area is mostly open. Grayson Highlands State Park is open, and their trails are in excellent condition.

Welcome to your stay at the Channels Retreat . This is a perfect place for hikers or a relaxing getaway.

Situated along The Brumley Mountain Trail and bordering the Channels State Forest, This picturesque 4 acre meadow is home to a newly remodeled off grid, solar-powered studio cabin featuring a queen bed ,full bath and with additional loft featuring 1 full size bed.

The loft area has low clearance sloped ceilings but can still comfortably sleep adults.

Well appointed kitchen is fully stocked with all the necessities you need to cook your meals such as pots, pans and silverware. It features a gas stove with oven.

Water is provided via well with filtration system that includes UV light for excellent purification. 

Cabin is heated by a gas log stove unit.

Outside of the cabin, there is a huge covered front porch and a dining table and 2 rockers to relax in, just off the porch, a picnic table and a gas grill.

The Channels are a series of deep sandstone crevices worn into sandstone outcrops on the mountain's summit and form one of Virginia's most fascinating ecosystems.

It is possible to easily walk within the maze-like channels, which harbor an almost cave-like microclimate and often hold snow cover long after temperatures have risen above freezing. Step right outside of the front door at The Channels Retreat and you will be greeted by the trail's most heavily used 3 miles that travel to the Great Channels of Virginia.

The Channels are a series of deep sandstone crevices worn into sandstone outcrops on the mountain's summit and form one of Virginia's most fascinating ecosystems.

It is possible to easily walk within the maze-like channels, which harbor an almost cave-like microclimate and often hold snow cover long after temperatures have risen above freezing. Coupled with outstanding views from the top of these outcrops and a fire tower on Middle Knob's summit, this hike forms one of southwest Virginia's most scenic and popular hiking destinations. The tiny house is located up the 1/4 mile driveway and is located just prior to the main house along the driveway. Guests may park either right behind the tiny house or alongside it (please leave space on the driveway for the hosts' cars to come and go)

Guests may use all the yard space surrounding the tiny house and the outdoor spaces around the main house. The pasture area between the street and the top of the hill is not accessible to guests or their dogs.

House CAN sleep 6 if loft is used as well. Please ask me for more details. Please note this house offers a kitchenette with coffee and tea, a refrigerator, and a microwave to heat already-prepared foods. It is not a full meal-prep kitchen and the oven is not available for guest use! The stovetop is available with a kettle for heating water and for heating foods brought in guests' own containers. Please note that children (including infants and toddlers) DO count as a guest and while welcome, I can't offer free stays for children.

The apartment is a separate building from the host house. This allows guests privacy and provides a quick response from the host should anything be needed. Guest can enjoy a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere whether inside or outback where the birds, squirrels, rabbits, and sometimes deer show up. You will forget you are in the town of Abingdon.

Guest has a private back to nature patio and children's play area in the back yard area. The patio has a fire pit, picnic table, iron patio table and chairs, umbrella, and cart for misc use. The patio is not covered. The patio has lights for night use. There is also dust to dawn lights on both sides of the apartment. The lights is on timers and turn off around 12:00 am.
The children's play area consist of a two level playhouse/cabin with swings, monkey bars, small climbing wall and a separate slide. There are 2 additional trees swings and a zip line just below the playhouse.
Our property extends down to where you see a change of grade to almost level. Trees mark left and right side boundaries. Plenty of play room for the children.

As well as a full size microwave . There is a full bathroom with a large shower. The best part of the cabin is the large porch off off the living room and kitchen . It is situated in the trees , there is comfortable outdoor furniture , table and chairs for dining and a gas grill. There are no step and high rails so it is safe for pets and supervised children .

Charming 1903 Victorian home decorated with family antiques, and within walking distance of the Revolutionary War Muster Grounds. Access to quiet Parlor, and in warm weather a large screened-in gazebo for reading and relaxing. There is also seating on the front porch for having a drink or to enjoy the outdoors. The newly completed space is setup perfectly to be used how you need it. With blazing fast Fiber internet, it's great for anyone working remotely.
You'll have a great view of the backyard while sitting at the dining/work table. While the space is cozy and comfortable, we do welcome you to explore the backyard. There are a couple of creekside locations that make for a relaxing morning/afternoon just soaking in the sounds. You may see a Blue and/or Green Heron in the creek, owls, otters, groundhogs, deer, etc. Enjoy! There are two ways to access the Virginia Creeper Trail from our property dependent on your intended destination: Abingdon or Alvarado(Winery: 5miles)/Damascus.

You'll have access to the entire apartment. We ask that you park under the basketball goal and travel to the left/west side of the garage around the back, where you'll find the entrance with a touchpad lock to access the space.
