The Cardinal Cottage is a comfortable, roomy, 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage located in a small, upscale established development. Our guest cottage is just 10 minutes from downtown Hendersonville and the Asheville Airport. The cottage is located 1/4 mile from a main two lane highway. Our paved dead end private road hosts only 9 homes. The cottage is situated on our 10 acre property and through dense woods in a private setting.
The Cardinal is nestled in a forest of mature pines and oaks. The land surrounding the Cardinal is level and there are only three steps from the driveway into the cottage. The cottage is surrounded by large wooded tracts, creating a very quiet relaxing and private setting. The location is perfect for all your sightseeing adventures or relaxing on the porch. The cottage is close to Hendersonville and Mills River but a retreat all its own.

The Cardinal is nicely decorated and has a fully equipped and stocked kitchen. A large screened-in porch is accessed through double French doors off the living room. Located just 30 minutes from Asheville and the Biltmore House and a 15 minute drive to the Asheville Airport and Sierra Nevada Brewery. Hendersonville is very family friendly with several major festivals each year. If you enjoy hiking, Brevard and DuPont State Park are also nearby. A three mile drive gets you to Flat Rock, location of the North Carolina state theater and the Carl Sandburg historic home. There are four bicycles available to ride at your own risk to downtown or on the Oklawaha Bike Trail. Numerous city parks are close by. Patton Park has a skateboarding park and public swimming pool.

Access our eight acre property through a private electric gate at the bottom of the long driveway .

There are 63 undeveloped acres next to us, and three neighbors on bucolic three acre sites on the other side. Kanuga Conference is just across the road from our property.

It's very peaceful here with abundant wildlife. The area has wild turkeys, an owl who lives near our driveway hill, many rabbits, squirrels, raccoons, deer, foxes, coyotes, bears, geese, ducks, birds of all sorts, and fish in the pond. Hendersonville is a bird sanctuary, a nature lovers paradise.

No security cameras or decibel monitors on the property.

We are dog lovers and welcome well behaved dogs. Limit of two dogs. All dogs must be at least two years old and housebroken, spayed or neutered, non-marking, non-aggressive, well socialized dogs with current vaccinations and flea/tick treatment. Your dogs can run free off leash, if you like. We caution against small dogs running free, as there is an owl and hawks living here. We have dog dishes and dog towels.

Sorry, we are allergic to cats and can't have them in the cottage.

Cabin Features: The covered porch features rocking chairs, a hot tub, and an outdoor dining table. Cabin Location: The Cabin in the Treetops at Clear Creek Cabins is one of four cabins, situated and landscaped for privacy, scattered about our 20 acre property. It is one of our more secluded cabins, being located on the wooded portion of our 20 acre property. You will see trees on all sides. You may glimpse a small part of another cabin, but there are no other buildings within sight. In the winter when the leaves are off the trees, you might see a llama in the neighbor’s field.

Cabin Features: The covered porch features rocking chairs, a hot tub, and an outdoor dining table. The cabin has a gas log fireplace, air conditioning, smart TV with DVD player, wifi, microwave, toaster, blender and coffee-maker. Linens, dishes, and kitchen utensils are provided. The cabin has a gas BBQ grill. The cabin is well prepared for the rare power outage, with a gas log fireplace for heat and a gas stove for cooking. There is a fire pit safely located near the pond on the unwooded portion of the property.

Area Activities: While many guests simply relax on the property for their entire stay, there is much to do in the area – hiking and waterfall viewing in state and national forests, a visit to Historic Hendersonville, dining at the many great area restaurants just a short drive away, visiting the many surrounding state and national parks and forests (Dupont, Pisgah, the Blue Ridge Parkway), and of course visiting the famous Biltmore Estate. Horseback riding is available in the area, as are visits to numerous wineries, and breweries, plus a cidery and meadery, many of which have live music and food trucks. Hiking locations are abundant. Spring and fall driving tours of our apple growing country side are available with many fruit stands to select from.

Seasons: The property is beautiful in all seasons: spring flowering trees, summer foliage, fall colors, and in the winter the possibly of snow. Winter, when the leaves are off the trees, can be especially interesting due to the additional views that appear through the bare trees.

Surveillance device notice: We are in the process of adding cameras to our properties. Cameras are near stairs to the cabin and cover the stairs and parking space. Cameras record video. Additional cameras on our property cover portions of the road to the cabins (Wyatt Lane). Interior and hot tub areas are NOT covered.

This non-smoking apartment is pet-free and fragrance-free for the benefit of those who have allergies. I operated a cleaning service and I personally give the apartment a thorough cleaning and disinfecting after each guest. I am very fussy about keeping it clean and tidy.

The space
PLEASE NOTE: Please read ENTIRE description before booking. I am a HUGE animal lover and currently have a cat, a box turtle and 2 dogs of my own and 1 that lives upstairs but visits. They are all very friendly. I occasionally have a foster dog as well. If you're not comfortable with animals, this would not be a good fit for you as you will encounter them when accessing the bath or kitchen. If you are wanting to stay for a long-term stay, I only allow one person.

Our house sits on a small 8 acre lake that is private to our neighborhood (32 homes). Beautiful big willow tree and peaceful energy. Great place to unwind and relax. There are multiple places to sit and enjoy the quiet- lake view patio, under the willow tree and right on the water's edge! The lake is private and most of the waterfront areas are private property. You’re welcome to be by the lake on my property but please don’t go onto the neighbors yards.

The bed is full size with a memory foam mattress. All bedding and towels provided. There is a small laptop desk and chair in the room. Coffee maker and electric kettle in your room and your own private entrance. Parking is conveniently right outside the door. Room is very private as it is at the other side of the home from the family bedrooms and the shared bath. The interior BR door is an accordion type and doesn't have a lock. There is a small hallway outside the BR door with a door that leads into the rest of the home and to access the bathroom and kitchen. (Shown in photos) Your privacy is respected at all times.
Our home is two apts, the room is on the lower level where my young adult son and I live. He works 12 hour days and you may never even see him! Other family members and their dog and inside only cats live upstairs. Occasionally, I may have a friend visiting and staying with me as well.

Wifi access and use of the kitchen. The bathroom is shared with myself and my son(he has his own 1/2 bath in his room so only uses the shared bath for showering).

We have 2 very friendly dogs and a cat but they are kept out of the Airbnb room. However, they will be in the common areas and love to say hello and get attention. They are very friendly, sometimes a little vocal, but if you are afraid of dogs or cats this might not be the best place for you to stay as they are in the common areas and you will have to meet them. My “granddog” who lives upstairs often comes down to visit as well. We also have a small, friendly 36 year old box turtle who roams the living area. You may never see her as she prefers to stay put and hidden most of the time.

Your stay includes the use of the kitchen and appliances-stove, toaster oven, and air fryer. Pots, pans, dishes, everything you need is there. You are welcome to use the spices and condiments. We provide coffee and tea upon check-in. Please clean up and wash your dishes/pans after use.

There's a small table and chairs in the kitchen area, or you can enjoy your meal outside and enjoy the lake setting.

My favorite "room" in the house is the patio, you are welcome to use it too.
We also have chairs available for sitting lakeside or under the willow tree.

We have a canoe you can use for fishing or a relaxing cruise (please let us know so we can get it ready) There are some instances where it may not be available(when maintenance is being done) If you bring your fishing gear, you can even catch a nice bass right from the yard! Fishing is catch and release.

During your stay
I work from home so am here most of the time. I love having interesting conversations and socializing with our guests if they so choose! Though I am available at any time to answer questions, or just converse if you're social folks, I will defer to your privacy unless you engage me.

I can recommend good restaurants, places to visit, hiking, golf etc. If there's something you need, just ask!

I have 2 dogs and a cat that share our home. They are inside but are kept out of the guest room during your stay. They are friendly and sometimes the dogs are a little vocal when people arrive.

All that said, as a general rule we go out of our way to give you all the privacy we can. Ensuring your comfort and providing an environment where you can relax are high priorities for me.

Other things to note
It’s EXTREMELY helpful for me to know as soon as possible what time you expect to arrive. I do not have self check-in and therefore need to meet you when you arrive. I have a separate building for my office and work from home, but when with a client, I am unavailable for check-in. If I have an idea of when you expect to arrive, then I try to schedule appointments to not conflict with the timing of a check-in. I prefer to meet my guests to introduce them to the dogs etc. The sooner you know, the better for me, even if it’s just an estimate of the time. Thanks!

Our 2022 Geo Pro has A/C, heat, and a full kitchen with fridge, freezer, convection microwave, cooking essentials, 4 burner cooktop, Blackstone, small charcoal grill, and a dinette that can fold down to accommodate a small adult/child. Comfortable queen size Murphy bed with linens that folds up and becomes a small couch with footrests. The bathroom has a shower, sink, flush toilet.

The site is centrally located within a 20-25 minute drive of Brevard, S Asheville, DuPont Forest, Pisgah National Forest and 15 min to Hendersonville. It has its own private, wooded campsite with firepit located near Cummings Cove golf course near Hendersonville.
The camper can be moved to a residential site near Etowah that is wooded and has a firepit.

*This is a split level home with two sets of shorts stairs in the entrance. The upstairs is your place to enjoy.

Guest access
This is a home with friendly dogs. Dogs are behind a gate downstairs and do not have access to the upstairs or will come around guests. They may just bark upon arrival, but will quiet down shortly after. We love dogs!

Your 2-room suite provides all of the comforts you need, and convenience to Hendersonville, Asheville, and Lake Lure. The living room has a T.V., fireplace, and dining area, and the bedroom has a bed, closet, and dresser. A private bathroom is included. Our beautiful yard has a goldfish pond, and lounge chairs. In the morning we provide a self-serve breakfast of toast, cereal, fruit, coffee and tea. Your suite has a microwave, toaster, and refrigerator, and a private entrance.

The space
Our home is located about 10 minutes from Hendersonville, 25 minutes from Asheville, and 35 minutes from Lake Lure. The Pisgah Forest and Dupont State Forest, as well as many other hiking and scenic areas, are within a 45 minute drive. We live in a quiet, peaceful setting, yet are close to all of the attractions people come to this area for.

Guest access
Guests will have their own private bedroom, living room, and bathroom, which also contains a washer and dryer, and we welcome guests to enjoy our large deck and yard.
