This spacious 3-room apartment is located directly on Historic Hendersonville's pedestrian friendly Main Street, with all of its attractions and amenities just outside the door. Guests love their option of parking their car in our off-street lot on the day they arrive and choosing not to touch it again until the day they leave because there's so much to keep them happy just steps from their door. The loft is a mixture of modern amenities and small town craftsmanship. This property has attracted more than 200 5-star reviews from previous guests, who love the convenience, the bed, the seclusion, and our good old southern hospitality.

Our 102-year-old building was one of the first of its kind to be constructed on Main Street in 1913. Its brick facade and distinguished arched windows rise above South Main Street and fall in the shadow of Hendersonville's original golden-domed 1905 courthouse.

The three-room apartment features heart pine flooring throughout, and each room has a bank of large windows on the western wall that showcases the setting sun. The master bedroom (with ensuite bath) has a king-sized Disney bed with a plush SpringAir mattress, 100% cotton sheets and cozy bedding, a dressing area and cable television with Roku streaming. The dining/living area features a rectangular table that comfortably seats four people and an informal sitting area. It is stocked with an electric stove along with most dishes and cookware to enjoy meals as well as a microwave, refrigerator, French press/coffee grinder, electric water kettle with temperature controls and toaster. The third room may be used as a second bedroom, with a pull-out, queen- sized sofa bed, outfitted with cotton sheets. For adults who need more mattress support, a queen sized SoundSleep/Dream Series Air Mattress with Comfort Coil Technology and Internal High Capacity Pump, with height of 19 inches, is available upon request. All bedding is provided for the queen bed. This room is also designed for use as a living room/office with a couch, side chair, and cable television/DVD player. The bathroom is adjacent to the master bedroom and features a walk-in shower. Central air-conditioning and heat provide comfort no matter what the season. Off-street parking is provided.

Restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries (don't miss 7th Avenue's Underground Bakery about 8 blocks away), breweries, pubs, specialty shops, ice cream and yogurt parlors, jewelry stores, arts and crafts galleries, museums and entertainment are located right outside our door. Many of the area restaurants and pubs have live weekend entertainment.

Both Asheville and Brevard are no more than a 30-minute drive as well as the entrance to Pisgah National Forest, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the area's treasury of outdoor opportunities. The Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site as well as historic Flat Rock and North Carolina's State Theater, the Flat Rock Playhouse, are a 10-minute drive. Brewery and winery tours are widely available, including Sierra Nevada's east coast beer-brewing facility located about 10 miles away in Mills River.

We hope visitors will appreciate the building's handsome brick facade, representing our town's best example of butter-joint brick arches and early 20th Century craftsmanship.

Renovations of the building in 2001 helped spur the renaissance of South Main Street. Many thriving businesses now share this block with us: Brandy’s Restaurant (directly below the apartment), West First Wood Fired Pizza (considered WNC's finest), The Poe House craft beer and wine pub and coffee houses. Architect Ken Gaylord uncovered the building's graceful bones and added modern touches to create a harmonious blending of respect for the old and appreciation for modern aesthetics. A number of Gaylord's project drawings and paintings are used to add visual interest to the apartment. We hope to see you soon!

Easy drive to Flat Rock Playhouse & Carl Sandburg Historic site including trails and hiking.

The apartment is quiet and cozy. The queen-size bed has a very comfortable memory foam mattress. The kitchen has new countertops and is fully equipped. You will have your own totally private patio area where you can enjoy a cup of coffee and watch the cardinals and hummingbirds in the rock garden. You will probably see our white squirrels and maybe some deer in the back yard. Enjoy a glass of wine by the firepit on the patio in the evening. The laundry room has a full size washer and dryer and you will appreciate the extra half-bath.

This non-smoking apartment is pet-free and fragrance-free for the benefit of those who have allergies. I operated a cleaning service and I personally give the apartment a thorough cleaning and disinfecting after each guest. I am very fussy about keeping it clean and tidy.

Enchanted Forest is a newly built, private apartment on 18 acres of unrestricted property. Our neighbors are mostly squirrels, deer and variety of birds although on a rare occasion you can hear a human voice coming from passing roadies calling on each other or locals using the road like a hiking trail. This serene location provides peaceful surroundings and relaxing atmosphere where morning coffee is shared to the sound of chirping birds.

The apartment was built specifically with our family, friends and guests in mind. It has specialty soundproofing that consists of two layers of decoupled drywall separated by sound dampening green glue and dead space filled with soundproofing insulation to provide enhanced privacy. It is fully furnished, and thoughtfully designed to deliver a truly comfortable and relaxing environment with personal finishing touches throughout.

The forest outside the apartment is enchanting and soothing. You can occasionally spot a deer or hear an owl. There are an oversized fire pit surrounded with Adirondack chairs and a hot tub that invites for a relaxing soak after a long hike or a bike ride. A stand to accommodate up to six bikes and basic biking gear and a bike washing station are available after occasionally muddy rides. The patio is a great place to hang out and enjoy some post activity beer or a glass of wine while preparing food on a grill or just immersing yourself in the silence.

To access the apartment, follow an asphalt driveway to a shed where a “Guests” sign will point to a lower gravel driveway on the right. This will lead to a private parking space which can accommodate 2 vehicles. An electric car charger is also available in the area. From there a lit path along the stepping stones and Mexican beach pebbles leads the way to the patio area. The apartment is on the left thru the lit wooden door accessible using a self check-in procedure.

Bedrooms/Sleeping arrangements: There are 2 bedrooms, a Queen and a King. Both beds have memory foam mattresses with luxurious bed linens, and extra pillows and blankets for a customized comfort. There is also a three-seat sofa in the living room where each of the seats unfolds independently offering additional sleeping space.

Ensuite bathrooms feature fluffy towels, bathrobes and radiant heat floors. Essential toiletries and blow dryers for that on the run hair fix are provided.

Living/Kitchen space contrasts contemporary cool grays with warm rustic accents. Stainless steel appliances give the space polished look while handmade maple island/dining table highlights the space with warmth and provides a laptop-friendly workspace in a free Wi-Fi environment. Adjustable height black leather chairs complete the look. If you are planning a longer stay or need to refresh your towels, there are also a washer and a dryer conveniently tucked behind the door next to the kitchen cabinets. With a free YouTube TV access you can still enjoy your favorite shows whether preparing meals in the kitchen or relaxing on a deep seating sofa in the living room. A rustic console behind the sofa, a matching coffee table, and a blanket ladder complete the look while river birch branches by the tv make for a nice finishing touch.

Rental Agreement:
Guests will be emailed a detailed Rental Agreement with House Rules and Policies which will need to be completed and signed before access is permitted. House Manual along with check-out procedures will be available upon your arrival.

Access:
Guests will be able to access the property using a keyless lock on the front door. The access code will be provided before arrival. Guests have access to the grounds in front of the Apartment stretching from the parking area to the opposite side of the house which includes Fire Pit and Hot Tub except land to the west of the house that is clearly marked "Private Area" and the staircase that leads to the upper deck.

During your stay:
We live quietly above the apartment w/our dog. The space below has been specialty soundproofed to make you feel comfortable and to ensure your privacy. You will be given plenty of space but we will be happy to assist you in making your stay more memorable. For help or with any questions, you can reach us by phone, text or email. Please, do not climb on or move any furniture except for the coffee table in the living room which can be repositioned in order to unfold the sleeper sofa.

The apartment is located up 25 steps to the second floor; guests must be comfortable climbing stairs. It shares the floor with two offices and a loft apartment. This apartment has its own keyed entrance. Our 109-year-old building was one of the first of its kind to be constructed on Main Street in 1913. Its brick facade and distinguished arched windows rise above South Main Street and fall in the shadow of Hendersonville's original golden-domed 1905 courthouse. We hope visitors will appreciate the building's handsome brick facade, representing our town's best example of butter-joint brick arches and early 20th Century craftsmanship.

The Orchard Suite is located in the finished basement of our home that is surrounded by a working apple farm owned by my family who settled in western North Carolina in the late 1700s and found fertile fields and abundant water. The apple orchard is surrounded by managed forest which includes abundant wildlife. It has a private entrance, full kitchen, full bath to include a washer and dryer. The Suite overlooks our fish ponds where you can bring the family to fish for freshwater trout or catfish. In winter, visit Black Bear Snow Tubing located on the property.

The space
The Sky Ridge Retreat is a basement guest suite studio space inside a mountaintop home in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Even though it's a studio, it still feels very spacious because of the private outdoor areas. It's in a small and quiet community of homes that are completely surrounded by nature. Towering poplar trees, the sounds of birds, and wildlife sightings (deer are regular visitors and on occasion, white squirrels and bears!) make this a perfect stay for those wanting a scenic stay while still being close to all the best things to do in WNC.

PET POLICY: We do allow one dog up to 50 lbs for an additional pet fee of $40 to cover the extra time it will take to clean. We provide furniture covers, dog towels, dog bowls for food & water, and dog bags. But, please keep your dog off the beds. Dogs must be leashed outside of the fenced-in area.

Two small dogs may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Two dogs will require an additional pet fee.

Please don't leave your dogs unattended unless you know they are well behaved and won't be destructive or disruptive (excessive barking). We live on the property with a small child so if we hear a lot of barking, we will ask that you come back for your dog.

We love animals! We have a dog and cat on the property that you may see from time to time so please keep that in mind. We ask that you don't book our place if your dog is aggressive towards kids or other animals.

During Summer, the views are lush with plenty of greenery to help put you at peace. At dusk, you'll see plenty of fireflies lighting up the ground. In late summer, we get a lot of hummingbirds making their quick entrance and exit as they feed on the flowers. In the Fall, the trees put on quite a show once the leaves begin to turn. It's a magical place to be during this time. Once the leaves fall off the trees, you do get long-range views of the Blue Ridge mountains in the distance making for some incredible views and stunning sunrises and sunsets. In the Springtime, the azaleas are poppin', and the neighborhood is full of different colors and varieties of flowers (this is my favorite time of year). Hendersonville is called the City of Four Seasons and it's always a good time to visit.

Even though we are on a mountain and have a remote feel, we have high-speed internet if you're looking for a place you also need to work.

>>Living Area<<

Right when you walk in, you will notice the brick wall fireplace that's the statement of this space. ***Currently, we are in the process of converting it to gas, which should be finalized by the time the weather cools down.***

The Article couch, which doubles as a sofa bed with a queen memory foam mattress, is comfortable for lounging and sleeping. Curl up with a blanket after a long day and read a book or local magazine, play a game, listen to the record player, or watch TV (access to youtube tv, Netflix, HBO, and Disney+ are included).

>>Bedroom Area<<

This is a studio so the living and bedroom areas are one space but we added light and airy (but not see-through) curtains to divide up the space which can be closed for more of a cozy bedroom feel. There's a queen-size bed with soft sheets, plenty of pillows, and warm ambient sconce lighting for nighttime reading. If you wish to unpack, we have empty basket storage, a clothing rack with shelves, and a luggage rack for your convenience.

If you're traveling with kids and need a port a crib or high chair, please let us know and we will put it in the guest suite before your arrival. On that note, we tried to keep in mind families with kids when stocking this space but it's certainly not child-proofed. Just something to keep in mind.

A little nook between the bedroom area and kitchen houses the music area with a record player/Bluetooth speaker combo, a variety of records covering many music genres, and a portable Bluetooth speaker you can also take outside. We keep games such as Scrabble, Bananagrams, and playing cards in this area, too.

>>Bathroom<<

There's one bathroom, which features a stand-up shower (no tub) with a bamboo bench, towel rack, and hanging caddy. We provide you with bath soap, makeup removal towelettes, Qtips, cotton pads, and a hairdryer. Feel free to use the other bathroom essentials you see but please don't take these items home with you.

>>Kitchen<<

The kitchen features a large stainless steel farm sink, midsize refrigerator with freezer, and plenty of cabinets. Even though there's not a range, you can still cook using the single burner induction cooktop and the toaster oven. The kitchen is well-stocked with oil, butter, salt & pepper, and plenty of utensils. There's also room for food storage and food prep (grocery stores are under 15 min away). Sets of glass and plastic dishes are provided.

There are a variety of coffee makers: drip coffee, french press, pour-over, and an electric tea kettle. Local coffee, tea, creamer, and sugar are provided.

Wine glasses, wine bottle openers, and wine stoppers are provided.

>>Dining Area<<

The dining area features a round wood drop leaf table. It can seat two people with plenty of room but it is big enough for four to dine at. If we know there are four guests coming, four chairs will be at the table. It's large enough to use a workspace (3ft in diameter when fully open). The chairs at the dining table are indoor/outdoor (but please don't leave them outside.) If you don't plan on really using the table, you can drop the leaves for extra space.

In this area is also the entryway that features four hooks and a bench for your convenience. There's also a large arched full-length mirror so you can be sure and look your best before heading out the door.

>>Sliding Doors<<

There are two sets of very large sliders. Each slider has its own screen so if the weather is nice and you want to let the cool breeze in, you can still keep the bugs out. Each slider has two sets of room darkening curtains for added privacy and to keep things dark after the sun comes up. They slide along a track system for easy gliding.

**The large slider under the deck is how you will enter the space. There will be a key in a lockbox that you will have to keep with you and use to unlock the door to get in. Because of the slider door, we can't use a keypad lock.**

>>Outdoor Areas<<

One of the best parts of this guest suite is the outdoor spaces. On the front patio where you enter, there are lounge chairs and ottomans, a table set, and a hammock that you could comfortably spend hours in if you wanted. Remote control stringed lights light up the space pretty good at night so you can easily dine al fresco. One thing to keep in mind is that our air condition/heating unit is next to this space and you will hear it kick on from time to time.

We recognize this is a huge mountain biking area and have installed two bike racks on the deck posts where you can hang your bike. If you need to rinse off your bike, you're welcome to use the hose in the driveway area.

You also have a private fully fenced-in yard with a small area of grass and a concrete porch area, which is a great place for chilling and grilling. There's a full-sized charcoal grill, grill accessories, and a small bistro table with four chairs. You will need to bring your own charcoal. (Never leave food outside or you will attract the bears or other wildlife.)

Just outside the fence to the right is the outdoor fire pit. Please BYOW (bring your own wood) but you are welcome to burn what you see in the designated fire pit area.

All outdoor areas are lovely to spend time in, especially in the mornings!

If you're bringing your dog, please keep them leashed when outside the fenced-in area.

You will have access to the studio basement space that includes a queen bed, comfortable living area with sofa bed, kitchen (no range), dining area, two outdoor spaces, a hammock, a fully fenced-in yard with grill, and an outdoor fire pit.

We can accommodate ONE vehicle that can be parked at the top of the driveway near the private entrance of your studio. You will share the driveway with us, your hosts, but we usually park in the garage. Another heads up, the driveway is somewhat steep.
Other things to note
The Sky Ridge Retreat is in the basement space of our home where we work and live full time with our baby, dog, and cat. You will likely hear footsteps and occasionally you may hear voices, especially when we’re home a lot during the week days. We’re very mindful of our noise level when we have guests and try our best to keep things quiet when we can help it and we expect the same from our guests.

Our animals are friendly but our dog gets excited when she sees people so you may hear her barking from time to time.

Our house is on a mountain so it’s a bit of a narrow and curvy drive up from both directions. The neighborhood owns the roads (not county maintained) so there are stretches that are a bit bumpy. All roads are paved and 4WD isn’t necessary unless we get a big snow which happens but is rare.

We control the air condition and heat upstairs but due to this being a basement space, it's generally very comfortable year-round. You can always text us to let us know if you are too hot or cold.

The apartment is on the 2nd floor, completely separate from my house, but close enough in case you need anything from me. Parking is in my double width driveway, so no issues there.

This a private apartment with a separate entrance in a secluded neighborhood. We live in the main house above the apartment. Our property serves as a certified wildlife habitat. We are surrounded by beautiful woodland and gorgeous terraced gardens with lots of unique touches.

Inside the apartment the space is light and airy with a homey feel. The spacious bedroom features a private patio and large closet, queen bed and Roku TV with a variety of streaming services. The bedroom includes a desk perfect for working on a laptop as well as a cozy reading area with chair and side table. We’ve included lots of magazines and brochures to keep you up to date on local happenings.

A patio is attached to the bedroom and looks out over the woods. Our guests love drinking their coffee or sipping an adult beverage here. It's perfect for experiencing the fall colors and the winter view is breathtaking.

Other things to note
We live on the side of a mountain...therefore we have a steep driveway. If this makes you uncomfortable there is plenty of room to park at the top of the driveway in the cul de sac which is flat. Please be advised that if your tires are bald (or close) you may have trouble getting out. In this case we advise parking in the cul de sac and walking down.

We have listed our hot tub as private, as you will not share the hot tub with anyone during your stay. The hot tub is visible from our living quarters however we close our curtains whenever you’re using it to give you added privacy.

Stairs are required to gain access to Airbnb and all outdoor areas. There is also a small step from floor to shower in the bathroom.

There is not a thermostat located inside the Airbnb. The only thermostat is upstairs and controls the entire home. We keep it set at 70 but we can adjust it for your comfort. You will need to reach out to us through the Airbnb app and we will be happy to adjust accordingly. There is also a space heater located in the bedroom closet for your comfort.

We live upstairs from the apartment so there is some potential for noise mainly in the form of footsteps. Although we do our absolute best to keep this to a minimum. We provide a white noise machine and complimentary ear plugs for light sleepers.

We have one very sweet and affectionate Dog named Sassy. You may see her outside during your stay. She loves to have her belly scratched.

The Blue Door is close to town in a beautiful and convenient residential neighborhood. It's perfect for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, remote workers, and small families. The apartment is also ideal for traveling medical professionals because it is near a hospital. We do not allow pets in order to maintain an allergy-free space. A violation of this policy will result in an additional cleaning fee. No smoking is allowed inside or in close proximity to the entranceway.

The space
The Blue Door is an 823-square foot one-bedroom apartment in a quiet Hendersonville neighborhood. It's the entire first level with driveway parking at the private entrance door and all on one level with easy access into and throughout the apartment. No steps to climb. A modern kitchen has full-size appliances and the full bathroom has a walk-in shower. The private bedroom has a king-size bed with a half bath. The spacious living area has a very comfortable queen-size sleeper sofa for an extra guest or two and a desk and office chair for working remotely. There is a 54-inch flat screen TV and Internet with Wi-Fi. The living area also has a fireplace with remote-controlled natural gas logs to warm you on cool nights and chilly mornings. The apartment has its own separate mini-split heating and air-conditioning system with remote-control units in each room, offering specific climate control for the bedroom, living area and kitchen. Our house is on two acres of land with streams, a shady tree-filled yard, flowering shrubs and plants in the spring and summer, and scenic pasture and barn across the street, yet within walking distance to restaurants, coffee/bagel shops, breweries, food markets and a park with walking and biking paths.

Our 102-year-old building was one of the first of its kind to be constructed on Main Street in 1913. Its brick facade and distinguished arched windows rise above South Main Street and fall in the shadow of Hendersonville's
original golden-domed 1905 courthouse.

The three-room apartment features heart pine flooring throughout, and a western facing wall featuring large windows in each room that showcase the setting sun. The master bedroom (with ensuite bath) has a king-sized Disney bed with a plush SpringAir mattress, 100% cotton sheets, cozy bedding, and cable/Roku television. The kitchen/dining area features an rectangular table for four, an informal seating area, an electric stove with most dishes and cookware provided to enjoy meals as well as a microwave, refrigerator, French press/coffee grinder, electric kettle with temperature adjustments for coffee/tea, toaster and bookshelf with books, games, puzzles and more. The third room may be used as a living/office area or as a second bedroom with a couch, pull-out, queen- sized sofa bed, all bedding provided, side chair and cable television with DVD player. For adults who need more mattress support, a SoundSleep Dream Series Queen Sized Air Mattress and Comfort Coil Technology and Internal High Capacity Pump, with a height of 19 inches, is available upon request. The bathroom is adjacent to the master bedroom and features a walk-in shower with a separate dressing area and closet. Off-street parking is provided.

Restaurants, bakeries (don't miss 7th Avenue's Underground Bakery about 8 blocks away), specialty shops, museums and entertainment are located right outside our doorway. Both Asheville and Brevard are about 25 miles away as well as the entrance to Pisgah National Forest, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the area's treasury of outdoor opportunities. The Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site as well as historic Flat Rock and North Carolina's State Theater, the Flat Rock Playhouse, is a 10-minute drive. Brewery and winery tours are widely available, including Sierra Nevada's east coast beer-brewing facility located about 10 miles away in Mills River.

The apartment shares a second floor with the offices of one of Western North Carolina's best known architect-builders: Ken Gaylord Architects and Black Hawk Construction. Many thriving businesses now share this block with us: Brandy's Restaurant (directly below the apartment), West First Wood Fired Pizza (considered WNC's finest), The Poe House craft beer and wine pub: 2nd Act Coffee/Cafe a couple blocks away on Allen Street. Gaylord uncovered the building's graceful bones and added modern touches to create a harmonious blending of respect for the old and appreciation for modern aesthetics. In-town, upper level full size apartment above a private home located in a peaceful neighborhood with a five minute drive to historic downtown Hendersonville. This is a 2 bedroom apartment with seperate entrance and private parking. All new amenities in a cozy, stylish setting. This space is perfect for a private get-away, two couples or a small family. Enjoy a fully equipped kitchen, two full bathrooms and a washer and dryer. Private outdoor area offers dining and a fire pit.

The space
The living room has a comfortable, soft sectional and a big shared footstool below a ceiling fan - light. It is open to the dining area which seats 4 around a solid wood table & offers swivel cloth covered stools. The kitchen is open, bright and cheerful with a coffee bar, snacks for guests, tea and hot chocolate offerings. There is a full set of cooking pans, knives and baking sheets. Even a crock-pot for a delicious stew or soup after a day excursion! The bedroom featuring the queen-sized bed has a cozy chair for reading and a bedside table set up with a charging station for your electronics. The sheets, blankets and spreads are high quality and luxurious. Both bathrooms have ample towels for each guest that are thick and fluffy. The bathroom off the queen room has a stacking washer dryer combo that is free for guest use. High quality soaps, shampoo & conditioner as well as specialty hand soaps are provided. The larger bedroom with the king bed has a television and a private bathroom with a shower. Again, fine linens and towels are here for your enjoyment. The outdoor garden is used only by guests and is somewhat hidden from view for a sense of privacy and relaxation. A firepit with four chairs is provided as well as a four-person picnic table with a bright red umbrella to shade you as you eat. Between the guest garden and the apartment is a paved private parking space provided for small and medium sized vehicles. Larger vehicles are welcome to park to the far side of the owners drive across from the apartment entrance.

Guests may access the apartment from the owners drive that leads to the private guest parking space. The owners front and back yards are separate from the outside area devoted to the guests. Upstairs all areas are accessable to the guest except for the owners closet which is kept locked. The owners home has a very good sound barrier in the stone walls of the house.
