Hello Guests,
The Lake Lure and Chimney Rock were devastated by hurricane Helene in September of 2024 and the Lake is currently closed and has been drained while they are still cleaning up.

I am excited that with the rebuilding of Chimney Rock and Lake Lure, many new restaurants have emerged. People ask me, "where's a good place to eat?" My reply is that all the restaurants in Lake Lure are good. "It's hard to make a living selling bad food in a small town." Lol, but it's true.

All of the Chimney Rock merchants have reopened as well as many new merchants have come to open business in Chimney Rock. The town is booming.

Please consider my cabin when looking for a weekend stay and come and visit the area. It's pretty devastated, but the area is still beautiful, and the leaves are turning.

I have lowered my rates severely to keep my housekeepers employed and to help them with their recovery from the storm.

~PLEASE READ MY REVIEWS~ This is a cute little log cabin, on a paved road, just off of Hwy 64 in Lake Lure. It's only 3 minutes from the Public Beach. It’s a new log cabin with all the modern comforts of home including central heat and air, washer/dryer, fridge with ice maker, and dishwasher with all the appliances.
This cabin has two great bedrooms. The upstairs bedroom is very cute and has the intimate feeling of being in a loft with a view of the mountains and log bed. The downstairs bedroom is cozy with a delightful feeling of home. Both beds are Queen size and there are hang up closets in both bedrooms.
All the bedrooms are tastefully furnished with lots of drawers for plenty of storage.
The downstairs is very cozy with a cathedral ceiling and a glass wall that provides a stunning view of the mountains. There is a comfy gas log fireplace to help take the chill off at night.
On the wrap around deck you can smell the fresh mountain air, hear the birds, perhaps see the local deer, and gaze at the excellent view of the mountains. The deck also has 4 Adirondack chairs and a BBQ grill. and a cute little bistro table that is excellent for enjoying dinner or morning coffee outdoors, and to soak up the wonderful view.
I also have a variety of DVDs for a great 'movie night' including free popcorn. On us.
Another little Plus is along with the Key to the cabin there is an 'Ingles Advantage' card for discounts at the local grocery store. So they'll treat you like a local.
Come and stay at this 'Cute Little Log Cabin for Rent'. You'll love it, just like just like the others have.

Mary Ann's cabin is 1300 square ft. Home located a 'Paved Road' 1/4 mile from the beach front of Lake Lure and 3 miles to Chimney Rock Park. This log cabin has all new appliances including central heat and air.

Master Bedroom Furniture is Low Platform. It has a King-size bed, blanket chest. Master bath features a jacuzzi garden tub and a separate shower stall.

Upstairs loft has a daybed with roll-out bed and sitting room with view of mountainside. Upstairs bedroom has a queen-size bed and night stands and dresser with mirror with adjoining bath with tub/shower.

The cozy downstairs great room has cathedral ceiling with couch, and 2- recliners. This room is adjoining to the kitchen and dining room. The kitchen is fully equipped with all cooking and dining ware. Leading from the great room, dining and kitchen area is a large deck with patio furniture and rocking chairs.

The deck expands from the front porch and is shaded by a hardwood tree's. This makes it even more pleasurable to spend many hours relaxing and and listening to nature.

The cabin is approximately 40 miles from the Biltmore House and Gardens in Asheville. HGTV (Home and Garden Television) chose Lake Lure to build a 'Dream Home' in 2006. Movies made at Lake Lure/Chimney Rock Area are 'Last of the Mohicans','Dirty Dancing','Firestarter','My Fellow Americans','A Breed Apart', & 'Rutherford County Line'.

September 27, 2024, is a day we will never forget here in WNC. Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc to this area of our mountains. Slowly but surely, we are rebuilding.
Grandma's Cabin was miraculously spared and is now up and running.
We do need to let everyone know that the road conditions are rough in some parts. The town of Chimney Rock is closed to the public while being rebuilt, Despite the devastation there is still so much beauty in this area in the land and people.

This estate is a little piece of heaven with natural laurels, rhododendrons and even some hard-to-find wildlife which has been known to visit throughout the year so don't be surprised to see a mama deer with her twin fawns or a wild turkey.

Autumn Splendor is a 700-sf cabin perched on a hill with its quaint two-bedroom two-bathroom single story layout. This sweet cabin will charm and delight you with its mountain and sunrise views from the huge, screened porch. It's a super clean cabin that accommodates 2-5 ppl and it can even accommodate your fur baby for a fee.
The main bedroom has a custom made and very comfortable queen-size bed with a closet area and plenty of space to unpack and organize your travels. There’s cable TV and Wifi for streaming on the smart devices, and a full-length mirror in this bedroom. The main bathroom features a jetted tub for two which is perfect for soothing away a long hike or a day on the lake. It also has a shower and plenty of storage for your essentials.
The second bedroom features a bunk bed that sleeps 3 with twin bunk over full-size bed. Both with new comfy memory-foam mattresses. There's an on-suite bathroom and shower attached to this bedroom with plenty of storage to organize and unpack your suitcase and hang your belongings. The living, dining, and kitchen areas are a combined space with all the amenities to make your rustic log cabin adventures authentic. It’s a small space packed with everything you need to enjoy cabin life, but the real enjoyment is the large screened porch which extends off of the living room. LAKE LURE WILL NOT BE OPEN FOR RECREATIONAL BOATING, FISHING, OR SWIMMING IN THE 2025 SEASON. Although the lake is closed and lowered while Hurricane Helene cleanup continues, there is much that our beautiful foothills area has to offer. LAKE ADGER, SHUMONT LAKE, LAKE LANIER, and MIRROR LAKE suffered no damage, so homes and those lakes are available. BALD MOUNTAIN LAKE in the resort is open and beautiful. We are welcoming guests in over 60 beautiful homes to use as a "home base" for visiting nearby towns, restaurants, shops, hiking areas, and seasonal special events in Lake Lure, Hendersonville, Asheville, Black Mountain, Saluda, and Tryon. Golf is open to the public at Rumbling Bald, and local area wineries, breweries, trails, and music are within an hour's drive. Many of the Chimney Rock shops are set up at the Tryon International Equestrian Center Pavilion. Chimney Rock Park is now open!

Offering two bedrooms and two baths. The upstairs bedroom has a set of twin bunk beds and a bathroom, a kitchen, a living room, and a fabulous deck. The downstairs has an open bedroom, a private bathroom, and a laundry area. The lower level and lower level deck are both slightly lower than standard ceiling heights. This small cottage was built long ago, but a recent remodel has made it very modern and simplistic. It's a stylish little property that is perfect for up to four people. There's parking for one vehicle, and from the parking area, it is approximately a 50-foot walk to the home. A modern, stylish appeal and a nice upper deck with super cool views are the main draws to this property.

This home can be enjoyed throughout the year with the area's temperate climate and beauty. Springtime brings the blooming of the dogwood and redbud trees as well as the azaleas, rhododendrons, and mountain laurels. Summer brings lush greenery, and the autumn colors are extraordinary. It has one bedroom and one bath. With a queen bed in the bedroom, it can accommodate 2 people. This lakefront cabin has an open porch with views of Lake Lure and the surrounding mountains. Tootsie's Cabin is pet friendly. "Tootsie" was the nickname for the current owner's grandmother. Tootsie operated Pine Gables Cabins for many decades.

The kitchen is small and the appliances are old but everything works. The bed is comfy, and the open space is uncluttered. The couch smells like dog. I loved the porch! I had some work to do while I was there, and I spent a lot of time out there with my laptop. The lake is right there, and there are canoes you can use at the bottom of the path to the lake. It's quiet, despite being very close to town. You are right across from Morse Park Gardens, and near town also. Great location!"

This cabin is located on the Rocky Broad River in Bat Cave ,NC. Newly renovated with 1 bedroom & one bath.

It’s a quaint, small cabin close to 3 other full time rentals but in the front which is closest to riverfront and most private.

It has a great wifi connection, smart TV, microwave, oven, coffee maker, full size refrigerator and we provide your linens and towels.

This cabin is pet friendly.

A good thing to note is the bed is a full size bed ,which may not be a comfortable size for some guests.

There is a window unit for AC and a propane wall heater and electric space heaters for heat. The cabin stays nice and cozy through all seasons!

The area is way up in the mountains next to a babbling creak, which has different porch swings and fire pits off the banks that are free to enjoy. (the bugs are pretty brutal down there, but with a fire roaring and some bug spray, it isn’t too bad. also make sure to close the front door pretty fast to keep these bugs out of the house.) The scenery of the rolling mountains and forestry is unavoidable whenever you’re driving, and the for how rural it seems, the location only adds about 20 minutes in whatever direction you are wanting to go to. The drive was so beautiful that the couple extra minutes really is no friction. Downtown Asheville itself is only a 30 minute drive. 2) The cleanliness of the cabin was a huge relief. I’m personally a real neat freak, and was so glad to see that everything was so tidy and CLEAN! I did see previous comments about dog smell and can confirm that the cabin had no traces of this during our stay. Not only that, but the place does have a broom and swifter mop, along with other cleaning supplies under the sink. There are a lot of extra sheets left out to change the bed if you feel the need, the bathroom was spotless, and the couch was super comfy and clean.This made my heart so happy! Having such a tidy place to stay really helped me feel like this was our little home for the week. 3) The tv, dvd player, and wifi all worked awesome. The property manager had actually had a new wifi router installed the day of our check in! We could connect all of our devices and use them at any place in the house. We had no issues with the wifi entire week. 4) The property manager was super nice and made sure that we were enjoying our stay during the week. Super fast and reliable communication. I got the sense that they really cared about making our stay comfortable and was there if we had any issues. This was very reassuring, especially given that we were so far from home and the area was so foreign to us! Amazing and kind guest service!"

The main bathroom features a jetted tub for two which is perfect for soothing away a long hike or a day on the lake. It also has a shower and plenty of storage for your essentials.
The second bedroom features a trundle bed with two twin beds -- both with new comfy memory-foam mattresses. There's an on-suite bathroom and shower attached to this bedroom with plenty of storage to organize and unpack your suitcase and hang your belongings. Close the pocket door and enjoy reading a book from a bedside table, or watch your favorite program on the smart TV with DVD player.

During the day you can fish, kayak, canoe ,swim or just lounge by the water reading a great book! This property comes with one adult kayak, two kids kayaks, a canoe and fishing poles.

LOCATION and VIEWS. Creek Waters all seasons cabin is one of three cabins beautifully perched on a hill and within walking distance to Chimney Rock Village, the Flowering Bridge, and Lake Lure. This very spacious 2 bedroom cabin with large loft area and 2 full bathrooms, sleeps 7 comfortably. The living and kitchen space are combined but the huge screened porch extends the living and dining areas to the outside. It is a luxury cabin perfectly set up for a large family or traveling couples with kids.
Creek Waters features a master bedroom with a custom-built king bed with a super comfy memory-foam style mattress. The on-suite bathroom has a jacuzzi tub, shower and double sinks. There’s a walk-in closet with plenty of space to unpack and organize your belongings. This large bedroom also has a TV and nice bed-side lighting. The other large bedroom has a custom queen bed with a memory foam style mattress, plenty of closet space, a smart TV, and view out onto the screen porch to watch the sunrise. This bedroom has a bathroom next to it with a tub/shower combo.
The loft is an adorable space for youngsters. It is accessible by a ladder and the ceiling height is 5’8” so it’s not an adult-friendly space which makes it perfect for the kiddos to getaway from the adults and have their own fort in the cabin. There are two twin beds and a third twin sleeper lounger in the loft. It’s decorated like a fort with mini lights, curtains, games, and nooks for reading a book.
The centralized living area and eat-in kitchen are small but mighty. The living area features a stone gas-log fireplace with seating and even a vintage record player with records to choose from. It’s kind of fun to watch kids try to figure out how to play the records and get it on the correct speed. There’s a new smart TV on the mantle which can be seen from the loft and the kitchen. The kitchen area has custom cabinetry, pantry area, dishwasher, and is fully stocked for everything you need to cook in the cabin.
The highlight of Creek Waters cabin is the enormous screened porch that stretches the length of the house and overlooks a beautiful sunrise. The mornings are usually warm on the porch with the sun beaming in so take in the sunrise and enjoy a cup of coffee. If you aren’t a morning person, there’s plenty of room for everyone to relax, play games, or dine outside on this screened porch.
Other conveniences is the grill is located on the other large porch and not a far distance from the kitchen. A stacked washer and dryer round out this space with entry storage closet so you can easily launder when on a lengthier stay.
Four Seasons properties consists of 3 log cabins. Each cabin has its own gas grill for easy and private meal prep. The cabins share a parking lot and all the properties share an amazing outdoor space with a centralized gazebo down a staircase which is full of seating, games, lighting, and additional grills - gas and charcoal. There’s a path leading to a large firepit area with seating, so bring on the s’mores and create some memories here in Lake Lure and Chimney Rock!

Guests drive through a quiet neighborhood to a half circle driveway with two-space parking provided right outside the front of the cabin. Enter from the deck overlooking the mountains. The front entrance opens to a open-living layout with a kitchen area and living room, including a wood burning fireplace. There are vaulted ceilings that grant a spacious but cozy feel. The kitchen includes a stove/oven, coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator and dishwasher. All the utensils, pots and pans are provided. There is a master bedroom with a king sized bed, with plush linens, located on the second level. There is plenty of space for making yourself feel at home with a dresser and closet. The second bedroom is located downstairs with a full sized bed. There is one bathroom, located on the first floor. A loft overlooks the fireplace and living room; it is a great space to curl up and read or if you must, catch up on some work. There is a washer and dryer as well. The bathroom includes a tub-shower with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion and hair dryer provided.

You may wish to bring a few Dura-Flame logs for the fireplace. There is no cut wood on the property. Pieces of wood and Duraflame logs are for sale at the local Ingles grocery store.

Hurricane Helene Update: Our cabins are in good shape. Our lakefront and first pond have been damaged and will need to be repaired. The lake has been lowered by the town and there is construction equipment in the lakebed. Raven's Roost Cabin has two bedrooms and sleeps four. It has a screened porch, full kitchen and bath, and washer and dryer. It is pet friendly. It was built by Jim's father in 1965. Ravens Roost looks at a large field. Jim was once a rock and ice climber and we have decorated Raven's Roost with some of his old climbing equipment. We are near Chimney Rock, Asheville and The Biltmore House. All our Lake Lure, NC cabins are great for anniversaries, honeymoons, birthdays, or any special occasion. Pine Gables offers canoes, horse shoes, private fishing ponds, and a dock on beautiful Lake Lure. All set in a natural landscape with diverse flora and fauna. Plus, only a short distance away you will find the Lake Lure Beach and Marina, Historic Lake Lure Inn, Restaurants, Chimney Rock State Park, Lake Lure Tour Boats, horseback riding, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, tennis courts, Chimney Rock Village and fly fishing on the Rocky Broad River! Also in Lake Lure you will find two championship golf courses and a municipal nine-hole golf course.

The cabin sleeps up to four people comfortably, with a queen size memory foam mattress in the master and a twin bed with rollout twin trundle bed, both with memory foam mattresses in the guest room. We provide a fully equipped kitchen including a Kuerig coffee machine and drip coffee pot, keyless entry, a flatscreen TV in the living room with Netflix/Hulu, an Alexa for music playing and information, as well as books and games for those evenings or rainy days that you want to just stay in and relax. This studio cabin offers a great mountain view from a private deck. It is set up for a couple and is the first built Sweet Heart cottage with Double Jacuzzi and seasonal propane fireplace.

Located high on the hillside and up a couple of steps this studio cabin offers a private deck view of Chimney Rock Park. With a queen bed and shower bath, it offers a double Jacuzzi, seasonal propane fireplace, full kitchen, free WIFI, access to seasonal pool, state park type grills,  Rocky Broad River across the road and good coffee provided to greet you in the morning. And of course air conditioning and cable. Parking is two doors down from the cabin.

Welcome to Camp Hideaway in Chimney Rock!


Rustic charm and your own creek and waterfall await you and your guests. This two-story house is located up a long driveway and surrounded by trees. Have your coffee on the large deck overlooking the creek and waterfall, where you will likely see wild turkey, deer, a fox and maybe a bear. This is a beautiful, peaceful place for the whole family. Sleeps 8.

The space
The lodge is rustic, but provides for all your basic needs. Built on boulders, the house is truly unique. The house is surrounded on all sides with beautiful forest, mostly untouched and part of the State Park.

The primary bedroom features a queen-sized bed. This bedroom has its own half bath, and entry directly onto the wraparound porch. The bedroom is separated from the main floor by a short staircase. There is no door on the room, but blackout curtains offer privacy.

Upstairs bunk house (up a narrow circular staircase) features 4 twin beds. The room has its own half-bath and 32 inch smart TV and air conditioner.

Two twin size antique captain’s beds fold out in the living room for additional guests.

One full bathroom with shower is on the main floor. Two half-baths are found in the primary bedroom and in the upstairs bunk room.

The open-concept living room and galley kitchen have plenty of seating for all. Basic kitchen has essentials including appliances, coffee maker, toaster, and microwave. The adjacent dining room has a small table next to the built-in boulder and huge windows to enjoy the scenery while dining. The wraparound porch with weber grill and blackstone griddle makes cooking and dining outside a treat.

43 inch smart TV in main living room, and 32 inch smart TV upstairs. Air conditioning throughout house with individualized controls for each main room. WiFi throughout. Limited cell reception in this area and neighborhood. Make sure you enable WiFi calling, or take the opportunity to go off the grid!

Sit on the patio and enjoy the sounds of the bold creek right beside the house. Splash around in it if you wish! It's a private space.

Outside has covered parking and a campfire pit.

Guest access
You and your guests have full and private access to the entire home, including the creek. Access to the creek is down stone steps from the side deck. The only areas off limits are: the blue shed and wooded areas behind the house and beyond the creek.

The route to the house is over a one-lane bridge with an 11 foot height restriction. The bridge crosses the Broad River, a gorgeous rocky river - enjoy the view!

The driveway is a sharp turn uphill.

We are dog friendly! Bring your pup, but make sure they have flea and tick control! We expect all 4-legged guests to be well behaved and potty trained. Dogs cannot be left unattended in the house at any time during your stay. There is a $50 pet fee for one dog and $75 for 2 dogs. The pet fee will be sent as a separate request after your booking is confirmed.

This unique place has a style all its own designed to emulate a ranger retreat /fire tower. The cabin has a commanding view of Chimney Rock and Hickory Nut Falls/Gorge. The cabin was built out of 100+ year old reclaimed materials with 15 foot vaulted ceilings on the main floor. With poplar bark walls, incredible lighting hand cut slate floors your stay is guaranteed to be enchanting. Sit in the hot tub and look at a waterfall while listening to another waterfall behind you and river below you.

The space
Our place sit’s on 6 acres and is beautifully designed so that you can fully experience the mountains during your stay. This very unique and hand crafted cabin consists of all reclaimed materials with a slate roof, hand cut slate floors, barnboard and popular bark walls and windows galore. We think that the lighting is truly special with over 50 mini spotlights in the ceiling all on dimmers that can make the cabin feel very enchanting. It truly is so beautiful sitting on the back deck or in the hot tub and looking directly at the Hickory Nut Falls
(300ft waterfall) or Chimney Rock or even up the gorge at Blue Rock. With 500 acres of Park land behind our house with hiking trails and 2 waterfalls that are only accessible from this property you’re guaranteed an amazing private experience!This is truly a destination location. Rainbow Falls, which is about a 35 minute hike up the mountain, is only accessible from our property. It’s a 100 foot waterfall that you will have completely to yourselves! Plus, only an eight minute hike from the cabin is yet another private waterfall 35 ft tall that is absolutely gorgeous!
We rarely want to leave but if you do want to check out the local area, we’re only 15 miles from Hendersonville and 25 miles from Asheville and Black Mountain We love those areas too and are happy to make some great recommendations for your stay. We are also located in the center of 6 wonderful wineries only 15-25 minutes away in both the Hendersonville and Rutherfordton areas.

All wheel drive cars are never an issue getting up our gravel driveway. Some people feel comfortable using a front wheel drive car to access the cabin. Some don’t. That’s why we always have the Jeep Wrangler for our guests that would like to use it to get up and down the driveway.

Guest access
Our property is located in a gated community. We will give you gate entry codes upon booking and completing the reservation. We do want our guest to know that you have the entire Ranger Retreat guesthouse to yourselves. We are sometimes on the property finishing the build of our main house located above this guest house. We do all that we can to ensure your privacy.
Some feel comfortable with driving a front wheel drive car up our driveway and some don’t. All wheel drives have no problem at all. But We always have a two-door Jeep Wrangler automatic that’s super simple to drive for our guest to use if they should so desire. 👍🏻

We’ve lived in this area for 30+ years so we know a lot of the best places, hikes, restaurants, breweries, wineries, and activities to do in and around Western North Carolina. Please don’t hesitate to reach out and ask questions because we love helping people plan their trip and squeezing as much juice as possible out of there vacation!

MOUNTAIN VIEWS ~ PET-FRIENDLY ~ WALKING DISTANCE TO CHIMNEY ROCK VILLAGE

The front porch offers a direct view of Chimney Rock, the iconic feature of Chimney Rock State Park. The chimney was featured in Arthur Frommer's Sept/Oct 2012 issue of Budget Travel magazine, and the park received the platinum award for Favorite State Park in Blue Ridge Country's 2013 Best of the Mountains travel poll, with voting every five years and covering seven southern states in the Appalachian Mountains.

The space
LAKE LURE WILL NOT BE OPEN FOR RECREATIONAL BOATING, FISHING, OR SWIMMING IN THE 2025 SEASON. Although the lake is closed and lowered while Hurricane Helene cleanup continues, there is much that our beautiful foothills area has to offer. LAKE ADGER, LAKE LANIER, SHUMONT LAKE, and MIRROR LAKE suffered no damage, so homes and those lakes are available. BALD MOUNTAIN LAKE in the resort is open and beautiful. We are welcoming guests in over 60 beautiful homes to use as a "home base" for visiting nearby towns, restaurants, shops, hiking areas, and seasonal special events in Lake Lure, Hendersonville, Asheville, Black Mountain, Saluda, and Tryon. Golf is open to the public at Rumbling Bald, and local area wineries, breweries, trails, and music are within an hour's drive. Many of the Chimney Rock shops are set up at the Tryon International Equestrian Center Pavilion. Chimney Rock Park is now open!

This home is 2/10 miles from Chimney Rock State Park, 1.7 miles to the Beach at Lake Lure, and 20.1 miles to the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC).

The entrance to the park is just two blocks from this home. The restaurants and quaint shops of Chimney Rock Village are just around the block. You can even hear the sounds of the picturesque, trout-filled Rocky Broad at the home. There are plenty of places to fish at the river and a boardwalk to enjoy the beauty.

If you enjoy scenic drives, head out of Chimney Rock Village on the scenic and curvy Alt US-74 (Memorial Highway). This stretch of highway in the Hickory Nut Gorge has 14 hairpin turns and runs through Bat Cave, Gerton, and Fairview. Continue toward Asheville to pick up what many consider the most beautiful length of road in this country, the Blue Ridge Parkway. It will add to your bucket list if you have not traveled any stretch of this road. Actor Norman Reedus of The Boondock Saints and The Walking Dead featured the parkway on a 2016 episode of his AMC TV series Ride with Norman (Appalachia: Blue Ridge Parkway, Season 1, Episode 3). Just 1.25 hours from home and five miles off the parkway is Maggie Valley, home to the Wheels Through Time transportation museum that features rare American motorcycles, memorabilia, and a distinct array of unique one-off American automobiles.

This home also boasts a small attached garage. The garage, along with paved roads in the area, proximity to the curves of Memorial Highway, and the beauty of Blue Ridge Parkway make this home perfect for those riding motorcycles.
