The Space:
Due to Hurricane Helene, The lake will be closed to all use for the summer of 2025

The Boat house rooftop deck will not be available for the 2025 season. We have torn it down and will rebuild it in the off season. The dock is still available for your use during your stay.

The Enchanted Cottage has four bedrooms, each with a queen-sized bed, plus two twin beds in the downstairs rec room. All linens are provided, along with additional blankets for chilly nights. There are three full bathrooms, equipped with towels, soaps, and shampoo.
Our large dining table seats 10, and nearby bar stools seat two more.
We have board games, puzzles, and a foosball table for rainy days and family time.
There is a full kitchen with a drip coffee maker, microwave, crockpot … just about everything you need.
The cottage has central AC and heat, but you may end up not using the AC, as the cool breeze off the lake feels fantastic!
A gas log fireplace is there to warm you up in the chillier months.
Our large, screened porch with two ceiling fans is perfect for rocking, dining, playing games, napping, or listening to music (and it's big enough for everyone).
The outdoor fire pit is a great spot for making S'mores and reconnecting.
If you would like to rent the pontoon boat please let us know so we can get you in touch with the boat captain. The cost is $650 for the duration of your stay.

Guest Access:
Total access to the whole house and all of the porches/decks/docks you can handle! You can get to the main floor by simply riding the funicular, but you'll need to walk down a couple of flights of stairs to get to the boat house. One important note - our tram adds an incredible amount of convenience, but it is not always available 100% of the time. Power outages or maintenance issues sometimes mean the tram won't be available. Anyone staying with us needs to understand that climbing the stairs may be necessary.

The Neighborhood:
One of our visitors had this to say about the Enchanted Cottage: “The house is nice but you honestly don't spend much time in it. The dock and porches are fantastic. The use of the boat is great for driving out to a cove and swimming or finding the rope swing.”

Our large screened porch with two ceiling fans is perfect for rocking, dining, playing games, napping, or listening to music (and it’s big enough for everyone). The outdoor fire pit is a great spot for enjoying making S’mores and telling tall tales. And be sure to head out to the top of the boat house for some incredible star gazing!

Getting Around:
This area is car dependent. We have parking spaces for up to 4 vehicles. If you have more than 4 vehicles, you will have to make arrangements for parking your extras cars elsewhere.

Other Things to Note:
Our pontoon boat is your ticket to enjoying all of Lake Lure. Cruise the lake (license required, but we can help you get it quickly), catch some fish (permit required), and boat to some of the lake's restaurants. If you are interested in using our pontoon boat we do ask for $650 for unlimited use (most places on the lake rent them for over $800/day). The boat is typically available from late April through the October**.

**Additional note about our boat house. We suffered some damage to the deck above the boat house over the winter. For a host of reasons we were unable to complete the repairs before the busy summer season. The decision was made that it would be less disruptive for our guest's stays if we waited until the winter season to finish that project. Therefore, for the next several months, the upper deck on the boat house will not be available.

- "Our family of five (adults with kids/young adults ages 15, 18, 21) had a great time at the Enchanted Cottage. The property is beautiful and suited for everyone with access to a pontoon boat, kayaks, and SUPs. The screened in porch was perfect for mornings and evening together and the younger members in our group enjoyed the lower level after we retired for the evening. We loved taking the boat out to find places to swim and relax, and enjoyed baking day trips to surrounding places. We went rafting, zip lining, glass blowing in Asheville, and explored Grand Father Mountain--so much to see and do! The only snafu with our trip was related to the recent change in property management--we did not receive the communications about this and were left in a bit of a black hole for a few weeks while attempting to communicate with the previous owner/manager, but after doing some investigation on my own was able to connect with the new company and they were great. Rest assured that your reservation is secure if you made it with the previous owner/manager and are having trouble connecting. I only wish they had been a bit more proactive in preventing this pre-vacation stress. Otherwise, it was a beautiful property and great vacation, and no complaints at all with the new company who was gracious and responsive after finally connecting!"

One of the oldest properties on Lake Lure, this charming cottage is very private, recently remodeled, and is centrally located in a family compound 2 miles from downtown Lake Lure, Ingles grocery, and approximately 3 miles from Chimney Rock State Park. Our convenient location also provides easy access - less than 1500 feet from the main highway!

The property comes with a king size bed (new mattress) and a pullout sleeper sofa to sleep a maximum of 4 people. The master bathroom has a romantic corner jacuzzi tub and shower combination, the second bathroom sports a delightful tile shower. The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, range, dish washer, dishes, pots, pans, cutlery, toaster, coffee pot, and a gas grill is also provided for outdoor cooking. The cottage is approximately 972 square feet, with central heating and air, washer and dryer, a 4K Ultra HD TV with Dish Network, Netflix, and Hulu. Cable Internet with Wi-Fi is provided, recently upgraded to 25 Mbps. Linens and towels are provided so just come as you are!

Mary Ann's cabin is 1300 square ft. Home located a 'Paved Road' 1/4 mile from the beach front of Lake Lure and 3 miles to Chimney Rock Park. This log cabin has all new appliances including central heat and air.

Master Bedroom Furniture is Low Platform. It has a King-size bed, blanket chest. Master bath features a jacuzzi garden tub and a separate shower stall.

Upstairs loft has a daybed with roll-out bed and sitting room with view of mountainside. Upstairs bedroom has a queen-size bed and night stands and dresser with mirror with adjoining bath with tub/shower.

The cozy downstairs great room has cathedral ceiling with couch, and 2- recliners. This room is adjoining to the kitchen and dining room. The kitchen is fully equipped with all cooking and dining ware. Leading from the great room, dining and kitchen area is a large deck with patio furniture and rocking chairs.

The deck expands from the front porch and is shaded by a hardwood tree's. This makes it even more pleasurable to spend many hours relaxing and and listening to nature.

The cabin is approximately 40 miles from the Biltmore House and Gardens in Asheville. HGTV (Home and Garden Television) chose Lake Lure to build a 'Dream Home' in 2006. Five Oaks is a cozy one-bedroom lakeview guest cottage situated on beautiful Lake Lure. It is the perfect spot for a romantic relaxing getaway vacation for two, or for a couple with one or two small children. Lake Lure is nestled in the narrow groove of Hickory Nut Gorge just 25 miles southeast of Asheville, NC. It was named by National Geographic as one of the ten most beautiful man-made lakes in the world. Several movies, including Dirty Dancing have been filmed at Lake Lure. There is a never-ending variety of outdoor activities to be enjoyed in and around the lake, including swimming, fishing, diving, kayaking, canoeing, and hiking.

Five Oaks Cottage was built in 2005 and is tastefully decorated and equipped with a full kitchen and bath with shower. We supply linens, towels, and hygiene products for our guests and an information booklet listing local activities and attractions to help make each guest's stay both memorable and enjoyable. Guests have full access to the dock and boathouse rooftop deck for swimming, fishing, lounging, and enjoying the spectacular views of the lake, the gorge, and Chimney Rock Park. We also provide use of a canoe and a kayak so you can tour the lake and visit sites of interest such as the cove where portions of Dirty Dancing were filmed. There are also some very nice restaurants that can be reached by water.

The cottage is situated behind the main house and has lake views from most windows and from the attached deck. The cottage is therefore not lakefront, but rather lake access. The boathouse and dock are about 150 feet in front of the cottage. About 15 stone steps lead down to the ground level of the main house. A stone pathway then leads you around the house. Another 15 steps will take you to the rooftop deck atop the boathouse, and another 15 steps will take you down to the dock at water level. Having to negotiate steps down to the water is the norm at Lake Lure because it is a mountain lake and the shoreline is steep. There are very few lodgings on Lake Lure that do not require the traversing of many steps to reach water level. Five Oaks Cottage actually has fewer steps to the water than many. Still, it may not be suitable for older folks or those with disabilities.

The cottage is equipped with wireless internet, a TV with satellite reception, a DVD player, and a collection of DVDs. Five Oaks is the cottage where the author/owner conceived and wrote the popular series of children's books called The Lake Lure Chronicles (Google 'Lake Lure Chronicles' to view). We want to be upfront about the status of Lake Lure. In October of 2024, Hurricane Helene left an unprecedented amount of debris, and while cleanup efforts are underway with the US Army Corps of Engineers, the lake has remained closed and will continue to be closed for the rest of 2025.

However, we're pleased to share that the town of Lake Lure has announced its official target date to fully reopen the lake for the 2026 summer season: May 1, 2026. While this timeline isn't guaranteed, we remain optimistic that this goal will be achieved through ongoing restoration efforts.

In the meantime, the magic of Lake Lure extends far beyond the water—breathtaking mountain views, charming local restaurants, award-winning vineyards, scenic hiking trails, championship golf courses at Rumbling Bald, and the world-class Tryon Equestrian Center just 25 minutes away are all ready to welcome you.

As you arrive to this charming lake house, Hickory Hideaway, you will immediately notice the view of Lake Lure and quickly begin to unwind! Lake Lure is special and the views from this house are exceptional. Upon entering the house, you will be taken away by the high-pitched ceilings and exposed beams. To your left is the newly renovated half bath and fully equipped kitchen to gather and prepare your meals. Welcome to C & G's Rocky Broad River Cabin - the longest 'family owned' rental property in Bat Cave. One step onto our back porch and you'll be "hooked"!!! Remodeled in 2010, the porch boasts over 300 sq. ft. of screened-in space which is a great extension of the living area of the cabin. VACATION RENTAL STANDARDS

Maximum Occupancy Limits - The maximum overnight occupancy limit for this home is 6 persons. Designated Parking Area -Vehicles must be parked only in designated areas on the vacation rental property. Parking in the roadway blocking the flow of traffic and parking on neighbor's property without permission are prohibited. Contact your rental's property manager for offsite, overflow parking options. Trash Disposal: All household waste & trash must be placed in receptacles considered to be animal proof (e.g durable with secured lids).

FIRE PROTECTION FOR YOUR SAFETY Fire Extinguisher and Evacuation Plan -This home is equipped with working fire extinguishers and a posted evacuation plan. Removing any of these from their designated location is prohibited. Avoid storing items so as to block hallways, doorways, steps, entrances and exits. Small Outdoor Fires - When an area burning ban is in effect, bonfires are prohibited. Contact your rental home's property manager for information on any burning bans. Outdoor fires are only permitted in a place and manner approved by the Fire Chief.

LAKE ACTIVITIES Swimming: Do not swim farther than 50 feet from shore unless accompanied by an observer in a boat. Fishing : A North Carolina fishing license is required and all state fishing regulations apply. Boating: If a boat is provided with this rental home, please ask for and review the pamphlet entitled “Lake Regulations & Map”. If you wish to utilize your own boat on the lake, a permit is required and can be obtained at Town Hall or at the town marina.

PERSONAL CONDUCT Trespassing - Venturing onto a neighboring dock or pier, boat house or property without the owner's permission is prohibited.

Noise: Unreasonably loud noise is prohibited throughout the Town. Please observe quiet hours after 10 p.m. and be aware that sound carries very far over a still lake.

Unruly Behavior: Behavior deemed disorderly and causing a disturbance to the public is prohibited. These regulations will be strictly enforced.

*** Lake Lure will be undergoing a drawdown starting January 1st, through the first quarter (March 31st). The lake will begin to be lowered by approximately 1 foot per day until 12 feet has been reached. Infrastructure maintenance, dredging, and dam projects will be expedited during this time frame. These efforts by the Town of Lake Lure may affect access to the lake and restrict any lake usage. The lake will likely be back up to normal levels by mid to late April. No personal watercraft will be allowed on the lake during this time. While we understand this is an inconvenience, this does allow you to enjoy the full beauty of Lake Lure in the fall and holiday season. For more information about the annual lake drawdown, please contact the Town of Lake Lure.

The downstairs bedroom features log cabin walls, hardwood floors, and two windows that overlook the property. Upstairs, you’ll find the master bedroom with its cozy sitting area, in the loft overlooking the living room and expansive mountain views.

The careful balance of rustic charm and modern elegance continues into the two bathrooms. They combine classic cabin-inspired elements with luxury fixtures to create private and relaxing spaces to unwind from a busy day.

The downstairs bathroom has a sleek polished stone vanity, elegant hanging light fixtures, and a shower/tub combo. The master bathroom has a beautifully tiled walk-in shower with rain shower features, and two sinks.

Continue to the backside of the cabin to find two hanging hammock chairs.

A wooden staircase leads down to the lush and hilly backyard. A whimsical stone path leads from the bottom of the staircase to a hot tub and private fire pit in the middle of the backyard, bordered by solar powered bistro lights. When the sun goes down, there's no better place to look for fireflies and roast marshmallows!

A single door leads from the upstairs master bedroom up to the second-story balcony. Here, you’ll find two relaxing modern rocking chairs to rock in and enjoy the view.

Plenty of pillows, blankets, towels, etc. There's shampoo, conditioner, body wash, laundry detergent, hairdryer, wine opener, lighter, all kitchen necessities, keurig coffee maker with creamer, sugar, etc., games, chess board, access to movie apps on the tv, beach towels, just to name a few things that I was very happy they had. This place was everything we could have asked for and more. Very new and clean as well! I highly recommend it and will definitely come back again!"

With two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a dining room, a living room with a sleeper sofa, and ample outdoor living space, this cottage offers a luxurious and relaxing vacation home for a party of six. We are just one mile from the Lake Lure public beach. Please note that, due to owner allergies, we cannot allow pets at the cottage.

Upper Level:
The upper level of the cottage consists of a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, dining room, deck, and screened-in porch.

Bedroom:
Enjoy a restful night of sleep on a queen-size Siena memory foam mattress. The room has a large closet and is steps away from the upstairs bathroom.

Bathroom:
The bathroom has a large shower stall, storage for toiletries, and many towel hooks.

Kitchen:
The kitchen has a full-size refrigerator with an ice maker, a dishwasher, a microwave, and a glass top range and oven.

In the kitchen, you will find an electric kettle, a Bodum French press, and a traditional 12-cup coffee maker.

The kitchen is stocked with all the essential items to make and serve a lovely meal, and we will keep salt, pepper, and olive oil on hand for your convenience.

Dining:
The dining room has a fantastic view and the table seats six people. In the dining room storage cabinet, you will find puzzles and games to enjoy during your stay.

Screened-in Porch:
The porch is furnished with outdoor rugs, a wicker conversation set, a coffee table, and a ceiling fan.

Deck:
To the left of the porch is the spacious deck. It has a bistro set that seats two in comfy swivel sling chairs. We also have a new infrared electric grill for our guests to use.

Lower Level:
The lower level of the cottage consists of the living room, second bathroom, second bedroom, and flagstone patio.

Living Room:
In the living room, you will find a luxurious West Elm velvet couch, with a memory foam-topped queen mattress. The room also has beautiful leather chairs, a stocked bookshelf, and a Roku TV. The TV has all the major streaming apps available for you to log into on your account.

Bathroom:
Off the living room, you will find the spacious second bathroom. It has a tub and shower combination and a vanity with storage.

Bedroom:
Enjoy a restful night of sleep on a queen-size Siena memory foam mattress. The room has a garment rack, lots of hooks for hanging clothes, luggage rack, and is steps away from the downstairs bathroom.

Patio:
Just off the living room, you will find a spacious flagstone patio with two Adirondack chairs, a bench, and a fire pit.
The entire home is yours to enjoy. There are no shared spaces. At this time, the steep backyard is off-limits to guests.

Please be aware that bears are present in the area. Take care not to leave food or wrappers outside the cottage.

The living and kitchen space are combined but the huge screened porch extends the living and dining areas to the outside. It is a luxury cabin perfectly set up for a large family or traveling couples with kids.
Creek Waters features a master bedroom with a custom-built king bed with a super comfy memory-foam style mattress. The on-suite bathroom has a jacuzzi tub, shower and double sinks. There’s a walk-in closet with plenty of space to unpack and organize your belongings. This large bedroom also has a TV and nice bed-side lighting. The other large bedroom has a custom queen bed with a memory foam style mattress, plenty of closet space, a smart TV, and view out onto the screen porch to watch the sunrise. This bedroom has a bathroom next to it with a tub/shower combo.
The loft is an adorable space for youngsters. It is accessible by a ladder and the ceiling height is 5’8” so it’s not an adult-friendly space which makes it perfect for the kiddos to getaway from the adults and have their own fort in the cabin. There are two twin beds and a third twin sleeper lounger in the loft. It’s decorated like a fort with mini lights, curtains, games, and nooks for reading a book.
The centralized living area and eat-in kitchen are small but mighty. The living area features a stone gas-log fireplace with seating and even a vintage record player with records to choose from. It’s kind of fun to watch kids try to figure out how to play the records and get it on the correct speed. There’s a new smart TV on the mantle which can be seen from the loft and the kitchen. The kitchen area has custom cabinetry, pantry area, dishwasher, and is fully stocked for everything you need to cook in the cabin.
The highlight of Creek Waters cabin is the enormous screened porch that stretches the length of the house and overlooks a beautiful sunrise. The mornings are usually warm on the porch with the sun beaming in so take in the sunrise and enjoy a cup of coffee. If you aren’t a morning person, there’s plenty of room for everyone to relax, play games, or dine outside on this screened porch.
Other conveniences is the grill is located on the other large porch and not a far distance from the kitchen. A stacked washer and dryer round out this space with entry storage closet so you can easily launder when on a lengthier stay.
Four Seasons properties consists of 3 log cabins. Each cabin has its own gas grill for easy and private meal prep. The cabins share a parking lot and all the properties share an amazing outdoor space with a centralized gazebo down a staircase which is full of seating, games, lighting, and additional grills - gas and charcoal. There’s a path leading to a large firepit area with seating, so bring on the s’mores and create some memories here in Lake Lure and Chimney Rock!
