September 27, 2024, is a day we will never forget here in WNC. Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc to this area of our mountains. Slowly but surely, we are rebuilding.
Grandma's Cabin was miraculously spared and is now up and running.
We do need to let everyone know that the road conditions are rough in some parts. The town of Chimney Rock is closed to the public while being rebuilt, Despite the devastation there is still so much beauty in this area in the land and people.

Come celebrate in the gorgeous mountains of Black Mountain and enjoy long range mountain views at 3000 feet from the wraparound deck, gorgeous sunsets and town lights. Restaurants and shops are now open and the area is still as beautiful and special as ever. We are only 5 minutes to downtown Black Mtn, 15 to Asheville. Downtown you will find unique mountain shops, great restaurants, breweries, music venues and more. The cabin has 4 bedrooms, 3 downstairs, a queen bedroom, full bedroom and bunk room. There is a full bath with shower and a laundry room downstairs. The master bedroom is in the loft with a king bed, large soaking tub, bath and shower. The soaking tub has curtains for privacy and cannot be viewed from below. We have an endless hot water tank so you never run out of hot water. The main floor consists of the dining room, table seating for 6. The kitchen is well-stocked with condiments, spices, oils, blender, Mr Coffee, small Keurig, crock pot, nice potware. Plenty of extra paper products and cleaning products. There is a gas grill on the deck. The living room has a TV, with great wifi service and gas firelogs. We have French doors which provides a beautiful view of the mountains. There is a half bath on the main floor. We have plenty of parking with a long drive. We have a winding staircase that goes from downstairs to the loft. There are also stairs outside that provide access to the downstairs area. The neighborhood is very private and quiet. There is a computer desk in the loft. We are dog friendly, for more than 1, please let me know. No cats unfortunately allowed. Black Mountain is very pet friendly and most restaurants and stores are very accommodative. We are open winter months and is a beautiful season with clear views of the mountain range. We will be fully decorated for Christmas with a real NC tree. We have discounted winter rates and I have discounted further December rates to encourage guests to come and enjoy this special Christmas after Hurricane Helene. More and more attractions will be opening as wonderful volunteers and organizations work diligently to restore the area. Fortunately, Black Mtn is recovering quickly and we love being able to share our mountain cabin with our guests and make your visit special.

This home is set up perfectly for a family or 1-2 couples to vacation together. This is the ONLY 2 king en-suite bedroom vacation rental property in a community of much larger 4-7 bedroom homes. Enter into the open great room and kitchen with soaring ceilings and a floor to ceiling stone wood burning fireplace. There are two king bedroom en-suites on each level. The main floor suite has double granite sinks, and a walk in shower and a water closet. There is also a half bath and a laundry closet on the main level. The upper level suite features a loft, king bedroom with sliding doors out to a covered balcony with amazing long range mountain views. The Neighborhood:
Bordering a vast forest preserve, Catawba Falls Preserve is a gated community with stunning views of the Pisgah National Forest. You'll feel a thousand miles away in your mountainside vacation home, yet you are only 20-30 minutes from the culture and conveniences of Asheville and Black Mountain. There are numerous hiking trails, streams and rivers, and waterfalls all nearby in the neighborhood. Wildlife is abundant in the Preserve. The most common animals that you may encounter are deer, wild turkey, rabbits, birds, fox, and black bears.

Other Things to Note:
The property is very quiet, peaceful and private and sits on 2 acres with breathtaking views all around. The wrap around deck has comfortable seating. Relax in the cozy outdoor furniture, hammocks and rocking chairs. The upstairs has a covered balcony to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine with those long range mountain views. The amazing outdoor spaces are the place for relaxing and enjoying the mountains and listening to the sounds of nature.

The home and kitchen are very well stocked with all your basic supplies needed for your vacation week. We make it easy to come and immediately start enjoying your vacation. The kitchen features everything one would need for a relaxed trouble free vacation. There is both a regular drip coffee maker, a Keurig coffee maker and a hot water kettle. The beds are all made up prior to your arrival and we provide clean towels and linens.

We take cleaning our home very seriously and pride ourselves on providing one of the cleanest vacation homes you have ever stayed in. We have instructed our crew on the latest recommendations such as using the highest heat setting for washing linens and towels, airing out the house during cleanings, disinfecting all surfaces including counters, door knobs, light switches, remotes, railings, etc.

We keep our availability calendar up to date. Please check our calendar before inquiring about availability. We usually respond to all email inquiries right away or within a few hours. We have a 2-3 night minimum requirement in the off season (Sept, Dec-May excluding holidays and spring break) and a may have 4-7 night minimum in season depending on the week (Memorial Day through Labor Day and October with a Saturday turnover) and all holidays and spring break.

Pet Policy:
We understand the importance of wanting to travel with your best friend. We allow up to 2 well behaved and housebroken dogs with prior approval and paid pet rent fee of $150. Only well behaved and trained dogs please. No puppies or dogs that scratch or chew. Dogs are not allowed on any furnishings. Please let us know the breed, weight and age of your dog(s) for approval. All dogs must be up to date on vaccinations and flea and tick medications prior to arrival. Dogs may not be left unattended. Sorry, no cats or any other animals allowed.

While there are no doors, you will have the entire floor to yourself. The Main Level consists of an open floor plan with a kitchen (island with 3 bar seats), a dining table, and a living room area with a stone wood-burning fireplace (Duraflame logs only please. They can be purchased at a nearby grocery or convenience store). and TV. Access one of two private patios through the French doors to enjoy a covered and beautifully-decorated extension of the open living area. The Lower Level is one large open room that consists of a queen bed, queen sleeper sofa, and sitting area, 58" TV/Entertainment, and French doors leading onto the second private patio. This outdoor sanctuary is encircled with beautiful native landscaping and boasts a luxury hot tub, an open-air deck, and a pathway that leads into the surrounding woodlands.

Please note: Dogwood Treehouse is pet-friendly with an additional pet fee. This house also has a dog crate in the basement closet available for use as needed. This home underwent major remodeling and received significant updates in March 2021.

Cheshire is a small development with maybe 50 high-end homes, plus two restaurants you can walk to and a coffee shop. All only 1/2 mile from I-40. This is a great home to stay in- you walk in to the main level, and then there are essentially two master suites- one upstairs, one downstairs. Everything in place, high end furnishings, and two covered outside porches. Very nice! We'll be back!"
