This cabin is located just 1.1 mile from the John C Campbell Folkschool and a mere 1/2 mile off Brasstown Rd. It's cozy dead end location is very private without being remote. Nestled into a wooded hilltop setting (just above the valley floor with an altitude of 1820ft), you'll feel hidden from the world, while being able to gaze across a slice of Brasstown Valley from the front porch as well as from the living and dining rooms. Every room has a woodland view, ever-changing as the sun makes its daily trip and the seasons serve up an ever changing palette. The back porch, screened on three sides, projects into the forest as the ground gently slopes away, giving a real "treehouse feel" as you ponder the day ahead, the one just experienced or your place in the universe. It's the perfect home base to either recharge your batteries from your work-a-day world OR regroup your thoughts after a creative day at the Folkschool.

In addition to being a one of a kind magically appointed cabin, you will probably find that the Rivercane has the best weekly rate in the area, making it a popular choice for "Folkschoolers". In our attempt to maximize opportunities for "Folkschoolers", we have implemented a 5-7 day minimum stay, during the three season busy months. If however you see openings of less than a week (4-6 days) and want to book less than the minimum 5 required, please contact me to strategize. Our goal is to schedule weekend to weekend 7-8 days bookings, but if you see smaller openings we are open to shorter stays. We want to maximize opportunities for guests to experience our unique Rivercane Cabin.

To stay connected if you must, there is wi-fi and a smart TV (no cable), wi-fi or device ready, an equipped kitchen, all linens with washer & dryer. Both bedrooms (one queen, one full bed) are ground floor. The outdoor fire pit area has been recently revamped and, so as long as burn conditions are within safe margins, it is available for use. The fireplace allows you to bring that cozy fireside experience indoors in cooler weather.

To unplug if you wish, you never have to step off the property or out of the neighborhood, to see deer, turkey, fox, stars and moonlight. There are outdoor activities aplenty, with trails, rivers and lakes peppering the area. There are restaurants, art events and music in Murphy only 7 miles away. In this picturesque mountain town, you'll also find antique shops along with craft and specialty shops. There is also the Harrah's Casino, that is a few minutes east of downtown Murphy, West Tubing Company 4 1/2 miles away in Warne and The Crown of Brasstown (hilltop finer dining, in the heart of Brasstown). If you find yourself in a medical emergency, Murphy Medical Center, is only 4 miles away, in Peachtree.

Of course the biggest draw in our little Brasstown is the John C. Campbell Folkschool, founded in 1925, which offers over 750 classes a year in 19 studios. River Haven is a two bedroom, two bath cabin located directly on the Nottely River in Murphy North Carolina. From the screened in porch you look out over the clear flowing river. The riverside patio is a great place to enjoy the firepit when not fishing, tubing, kayaking, hiking, or exploring Murphy and the amazing river walk. Nottely River Winery is only about 6 miles away, and it's beautiful. And lets not forget the Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino just 12 miles away.

So you can relax at the cabin and do nothing at all, or do as much as you can if relaxing is not the only thing on the agenda. The Ranger Community Center has a kayak/canoe launch so from there a really nice float down to our place. When the water is low, about a 1.5 hour float, to as fast as 30 minutes if the water is flowing strong.

Fishing from our bank is fun, and wade fishing even more so. We are at the end of the road so very peaceful and quiet. It seems like you are a million miles away from anything, yet downtown Murphy is nearby along with great restaurants and shopping.

Disclaimer, VRBO shows in the map area that we are a one minute walk to a lake, we are not. I think they might mean if you are downtown. And the Hiawassee River is not 40 minutes away but maybe 15 minutes or so.

Peaceful with no nearby neighbors. As you sit on the front porch you will see deer, turkey, and all of the local wildlife. All of this privacy and only 5 minutes from downtown Murphy as well as the Harrah's Casino. You will have a paved circular driveway that will allow you to pull up to the front door and for motorcycles a garage to park in. The property is fully fenced if you are bringing your pet. We provide firewood for the fire pit.

Our cabin offers all of the modern conveniences (High-Speed Internet, Direct TV, and an outdoor grill) as well as a wood-burning fireplace in the main area. Open up the french doors to a screened in porch with 4 rocking chairs, a gas fire-pit and edison lightbulbs lined along the upper beams. On one side of the deck enjoy the brand new hot tub to soak all your cares away. The other side of the deck with will have a picnic table for your outdoor dining delights. Below the deck you will find an additional wood burning fire-pit for that great outdoor experience.

Our spacious kitchen has brand new stainless steel appliances, a full size fridge, and all the pots and utensils needed to prepare your meals including a dishwasher to allow easy clean up and place settings for four. You will have everything you need to shop for the week and dine in.

The main bedroom boasts a king size bed, private access to the bathroom with a walk in shower. A luxury mattress, plump pillows and bedside lamps. If you need a space to work from home a large log desk is available for you along with high speed internet.

- "From the moment we booked our trip with Eric and Zoe, it was nothing but amazing. They were very responsive at all times. First, let’s start with the location of the cabin: The cabin was nestled in the mountains with neighbors far enough away that you felt secluded, private and quiet. Less than a 10 minute drive and we were in town. It was very easy to get to the cabin. The check in process was very easy as was the check out process. When we arrived at the cabin, a bottle of wine awaited us and holiday music playing on the TV. The cabin was beautifully decorated for Christmas complete with two Christmas trees and stockings. The cabin is immaculately clean and smelled lovely. The cabin is very inviting and extremely cozy. The owners have thought of every little detail and have gone above to make the cabin feel like a very warm home. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable (we didn’t use the other beds downstairs). There were plenty of bathroom linens. Plenty of pillows and warm blankets throughout. We were fortunate to have snow a few days while we were there and therefore we were able to utilize the fireplace inside the cabin. It was so relaxing to sit by the fire. The porch was an extension of the indoors in that there were rocking chairs, pillows, a grill and a fire pit. It was so relaxing and we enjoyed watching the deer. The cabin is very spacious. I can not express enough how clean this cabin was and how clean it smelt. Eric and Zoe are very accommodating towards pets, and in fact, left our dogs, some treats, bowls, and a ball. They have a designated pet relief area, and this was a godsend for our two dogs. Our trip was nothing short of amazing. In fact, we have already booked another trip with them."

Secluded 48 acres in Murphy (about 16 minutes to downtown). Near: John C. Campbell Folk School (about 12 minutes away); Nantahala River (about 35 minutes away). Roam the property and swim in the spring-fed pond. If you are a camper or want to try "camping," then you will love "glamping" ("glamorous camping") at the chapel! A wood-fired sauna experience is available for an additional charge. (Read more about that below.)

My vision is that my property (which I've named "Kingdom Come") would be a place of rest, retreat, and enjoyment for others. I am going to build a few cabins for lodging, but my first major project was building a chapel, so that it would be the centerpiece and heartbeat: a place for reflection, meditation, and prayer.

I built the chapel myself (with my own hands, and the hands of a couple of friends). As I work on building the cabins, I have decided to use the chapel as a glamping site (better than using it as a "divine" storage building!).

My mother was an artist and when she died I ended up with a lot of her artwork. Some of her paintings now fill the chapel. They also fill the space, I hope, with her grace and love and creativity.

The chapel features beautiful timber frame construction. As to "glamping" . . . there is no running water/plumbing, but you'll have all the fresh water you need for showers, drinking, etc. Limited electricity for running the kitchen appliances.

No AC, of course, but the fan will keep it comfortable in warm weather. As to cold weather, the chapel has an electric heater that keeps it fairly comfortable in cold weather: not blazing hot, but comfortable; if it gets VERY cold, then the heater just takes the chill off.

Zinus Ultima Comfort Memory Foam 6 Inch mattresses are very comfortable! Using the outdoor solar/camp shower is wonderful. The privy is clean and well-ventilated.

Appliances: fan; toaster oven; microwave oven; coffee maker; and, small micro-fridge.

Lighting is provided by four rechargeable lanterns. Screens on the windows to keep the bugs at bay.

Outdoor deck with comfortable Adirondack chairs, fire pit, and Weber charcoal grill. There are generous firewood bundles available for you to purchase at the chapel, if you wish. Bring charcoal if you want to use the grill.

The play area offers opportunities limited only by your imagination. Sunbathing? Stargazing? Badminton and Bocce balls provided if you want to play!

WOOD-FIRED SAUNA

We also offer an experiential upgrade to your stay if you want to bask in a traditional Finnish wood-fired sauna complete with plunges into our cool pond between rounds. Please contact us and we will send you more details on the sauna rates. If you desire to book the sauna during your stay , we will light the fire and have it toasty hot for your sweat. We will gladly walk you through a traditional Finnish ritual and what to expect.

I'm a beekeeper and I'm happy to tell you about that, if we have the opportunity. Badminton equipment and Bocce balls provided if you want to play!

The MacGregor is our two bedroom cabin (queen-sized). As with all of our cabins, it is fully heated and air conditioned for your personal comfort.

This log cabin has wide-plank, wood floors, wood walls and ceilings. The wood-burning fireplace keeps things cozy and warm on those cool autumn evenings. We provide the firewood and starter. All you have to do is light the fire, we have the first one ready for you when you check in. And there's a queen-sized sofa-bed in the living room providing a third sleeping area if needed.

Please be aware that our base rate is for double occupancy. Any guests over two need to be added prior to your reservation request.

The inviting hot tub on the lower deck, accommodates up to five people, with a nice view of the surrounding forest, as well as the mountains in the distance. We also drain and clean the hot tub after every guest leaves. We only add a couple of 1" tabs of bromine (no other chemicals) to insure a pleasant guest experience. Ask our competitors what their policy is.

The living room has a Smart TV for watching Roku TV, Netflix, Hulu, etc. There is a Blu Ray player along with you own password secured high speed WIFI network. And remember our extensive collection of books that is also at your disposal.
Utilize the fully equipped kitchen to prepare whatever your talents or desires dictate.

We are a "no contact" facility. There is no need to check in. You may proceed directly to the cabin. We live on the property but we sell privacy. We are available at any time.
