Guest Reviews:

- "Pretty spot perched on the side of a mountain. Quaint double-cabin with modern amenities. In between the Route 151 and Route 29 corridors in Nelson County. Enjoyed our stay. Great family time. Played games, cooked meals. The only downside is the 15 minutes to get down the mountain, though the gravel road was in good condition and the trip gorgeous each time! We traveled each day to the many restaurants, wineries, cideries and the cool Crozet Tunnel, so the distance down the mountain did not slow us down. A great spot in the mountains. We would return again for the firepit when not in July-August."

Magical Log Cabin, streams in private yard, 4 bedrooms, pet friendly, WiFi
Cabin
Verona, Virginia, USA

Enjoy your getaway in a peaceful setting in this unique cabin built in 1840 with built addition, walk-around porch and deck. WiFi!! 3 streams surround the property with multiple walkway bridges to access the ample yard. Natural fire-pit with everything you need to enjoy a cozy fire (firewood provided). 4 bedrooms with sleeping space for at least 4 people (Queen bed, bunk beds, 3 futons, full cot). 2 full bathrooms, plus an exercise/yoga/meditation room stocked with free-weights, fitness dvds, mini fridge, and essential oils.

Only a 5 mile drive off the interstate, and nestled between Staunton and Harrisonburg: only 7 miles to Historic Downtown Staunton or about 15 miles to Harrisonburg (home of JMU). Massanutten Resort is only another 10 miles further from Harrisonburg (25 min drive).

Only 500 yards/0.3 mile walk to the access point for the Middle River for fishing, swimming, tubing or just sightseeing. A few houses are around but you still have privacy due to a big yard and trees surrounding the cabin. The small country road is in front of the cabin, but it is not very busy at all and there is a line of small trees to give shade and privacy to sit on the front porch and enjoy the sounds of nature, birds singing and the bubbling brooks in the back yard.

The space: Enjoy your stay in this peaceful setting. Sit on the front covered porch and listen to the symphony of nature, birds singing and the rain falling on the metal roof. Relax on the back deck overlooking the yard. The sounds of three bubbling brooks flowing from natural springs flow through various parts of the ample yard into the main stream at the back of the property. If you like, you can walk down to the stream and put your feet in, but it can be very chilly certain times of the year! Keep an eye out for the resident Bald Eagle that lives around the area. And in the early hours of dawn and late sunset you may see the friendly visiting deer in the back yard (or sometimes the front!). This cabin is my favorite place to be, whenever I am there I just feel calm and happy. It has all the charm of a rustic cabin in the country but also combined with all the necessities and not too far away from town (4 miles). Unplug your phone and enjoy the peace and comfort of nature surrounding you.

Other things to note: 3 level cabin: Main Level (Kitchen, Living Room, Dining Area): Fully stocked kitchen featuring a big island with 4 stools surrounding, plus a small table in the corner with 2 chairs for another eating area. >Kitchen has a Fridge/freezer, microwave, full stove/oven, toaster, and a Keurig coffee machine fully stocked with k-pods, sugar, sugar substitute, creamer. Propane BBQ grill on the deck (all cooking utensils to for the grills are hanging on the propane bbq grill side panel).

Living room has a small couch, two other cushy seating spots, plus two comfy fold out butterfly chairs perfect for TV watching, TV with a Blu-ray player (large array of DVDs and Blu-ray’s on the shelves), Atari Gold with 120 built in games, 50 in 1 game console with 50 built in games, PAC-Man joystick game, Nintendo DS with a variety of 64 game cartridges, TV with antenna broadcast channels: ABC, CBS, NBC, ION, CW, TrueCrime, Grit, Circle, and a local 24 hour Weather Channel).

Selection of board games, card games, jigsaw puzzles, children books and toys. A retro vinyl record player with variety of vinyl records. This stereo unit also has a radio, cd player, and blutooth capability.

A propane fireplace with remote control (however, the propane is turned off in the summer) and a full dining table with 4 chairs plus a long bench for seating. Back door to the upper deck and wraparound porch.

Upper Level (2 "mini" bedrooms, nook area with Serta-Sleeper twin bed/couch, Full Bathroom, Main Bedroom with Queen & a Serta-Sleeper twin bed/couch): The upstairs 2 "mini" bedrooms are unique polygon shaped rooms, one with twin sized bunk beds and the other with a cot (smaller than a twin bed but big enough for a 5.5 person, I have slept on this cot and it is quite comfy, but if you are very tall, this may not be the best room choice for you). These rooms are small but there is still plenty of room for your bags and provided are luggage racks. Upstairs nook area has a Serta Sleeper Pull-down couch. This is the perfect spot to read a book with ample lighting overhead, or use as a sleeping area: laying down the back cushion it becomes a twin size bed. Upstairs Full Bathroom has a sink, shower/bathtub, toilet, and has a hair dryer in the cabinet below. Heated overhead fan if it gets cold. Upstairs Main Bedroom has Queen Size Bed and another Serta Sleeper Pull-down couch. With this sleeper couch pulled down, the bedroom door will still shut (I made sure!) But you may have to pull the couch out from the wall slightly in order for it to lay down fully. Its very light and placed on furniture movers so its very easy to move.

Walkout Basement (Full Bathroom, Laundry Room, Combo Workout/Yoga/Meditation/Bedroom): Basement Full Bathroom has a sink, toilet and shower. Hair dryer in the wall cabinet. Basement Laundry area has a Washer & Dryer, plus a door to go outside into the yard. There are a stack of lawn chairs you can use for relaxing around the fire-pit, or taking a walk down Bald Rock Road to The Middle River for swimming, tubing, kayaking, fishing...its only a 0.3 mile walk. There are also 4 outdoor blankets, which are provided for use outdoors.

Basement Combo Workout/Yoga/Mediation/Bedroom has another Serta Sleeper Couch that pulls down to a twin bed. This room also has a full length mirror and workout gear: portable DVD player with a variety of workout videos, Yoga Block, Exercise stretch bands, hand weights ranging from 1 - 20 lbs. There is a mini-fridge in this room, along with an ionic salt lamp and an essential oil diffuser with an array of essential oils to enjoy.

Pet friendly: ceramic dog/cat bowls provided, small dog/cat bed, doggie treats, rubber Kong toys, and a cat litter box can be provided on request.

- "Beautiful property, clean and light filled cottage, convenient to Staunton and Charlottesville. Had a wonderful stay with our puppy celebrating our anniversary." - "Our location was perfect to enjoy all of the local wineries and breweries in Afton. The cottage was very nice and had everything that we needed. There is a coffee maker but you will need to bring your own coffee as the cottage does not have any. When you go to Afton Vineyards make sure to tell them that you are staying in the cottages because you will get a free sampling."

- "Been here many times and it never ceases to impress. Beautiful views, nice people, and quiet!" - "The property was stunning - we couldn't have asked for a nicer space and view. Everything about our trip was beautiful and clean. We would definitely go back!" - "The Cadus Cottage location was excellent and affords the feeling of being away from it all but yet is in close proximity to multiple vineyards, breweries, fruit/vegetable stands. Having access to the patio at The Afton Vineyards after hours was super sweet for watching the sunset and early morning walks with the dog, Wilma. Cadus is situated so perfectly for taking advantage of the breathtaking mountain views with lots of windows and high ceilings which make it feel much larger than it is. The back porch is awesome; outfitted with the bistro table/chairs and rockers, where we spent the majority of our time. The property and cottage overall more than met our expectations, a beautiful escape!! very easy to work with, very responsive!"

- "It was so much nicer then we expected. We booked on a whim to attend a wedding on a nearby vineyard. Already planning our next trip to rent out more properties in the area. Highly recommend. Only thing I'd add as a suggestion is better lighting on pathway to the rentals." - "This was an amazing property. We had a really nice time. We were able to bring our dog Nugget. The views and the winery were amazing. Checking into and out of the property was very easy and onsite. Directions on how to leave things was very to the point and easy. We absolutely loved and enjoyed our stay and would go again and recommend the property to others!"

Logwood Cabin Pre Civil War
Cabin
Lyndhurst, Virginia, USA

Pre-Civil War Log cabin
Cabin Creekwood is a family-owned business providing relaxing getaways in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia since 1982. Cabin sizes vary, with individual units accommodating up to 10 people. Larger groups can rent two or more cabins that are in close proximity.

Each cabin is fully furnished, with full kitchen, bathroom(s), living room, bedroom(s), and private outdoor space.

The cabins are all heated and air conditioned. In addition to the thermostatically-controlled heat, our fireplaces, gas logs, or wood-burning stoves provide a special ambiance.

Outdoor living space for each cabin includes a fire pit, a charcoal grill, and a picnic table. Most cabins also have a deck or patio with additional seating.

There is so much to do near-by. The Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive, Shenandoah National Park, and Sherando Lake Recreational Area are all close by, providing the opportunity to explore the outdoors during the day, and relax in comfort at night.

Our area also abounds in history, whether your interest is the American Civil War, the frontier period, Shakespearean theatre, or the founding fathers. The towns of Waynesboro, Staunton, and Charlottesville are all just a short drive away.

After you stay at Cabin Creekwood once, you'll realize why we have so many guests who return year after year, some for as long as 20+ years in a row!

Guest Reviews:

- "It was a quiet little cabin with history. Close to a lot hiking trails. We loved it. We will definitely be back also be prepared for the scavenger hunt with in the cabin." - "We loved it here!!!! The creek in the back was the best part. Will be coming back again :)" - "We were very satisfied with the accommodations. All of the appliances worked very well (stove, oven, washer and dryer) and the gas fireplace and air conditioning. We had plenty of hot water for showers/dishes/laundry and the water pressure was fine. The kitchen had everything we needed. The beds/sofa/chair were very comfortable and the blankets/quilts were very nice. The creek directly behind the cabin was a beautiful and meditative sound. The area is perfect for relaxing and exploring. We loved Natural Bridge and there are many caverns to see. The Shenandoah Flea Market is well worth a visit. The prices were much better than any of the others in the area. The cabin was very "dog friendly". We brought our own throw blankets/towels to cover the furniture and dry her. But, the cabin was easy to clean up. We even loved the little general store down the road. They had snacks, lottery, wine and gas, etc. The people there were very friendly. We have no complaints. Just a warning to those who are considering this as a vacation rental. It's rustic. That means spotty WiFi and Direct TV. And snakes. If you don't like snakes, stay in a hotel. The creek in the backyard was a "plus" for us and our dog! However, you must be OK with checking for snakes on the rocks and logs. They like to sun themselves there. There is mud when it rains, remember to bring your rain/all weather boots! You'll be happy that you did. The yard down to the creek is VERY STEEP. Keep this in mind if you have.."

- "The cabin was perfect for our family of 6. It was exceptionally clean. The beds and pillows comfy and everyone rested well. The location is tucked away and private. At the same time, you're within 10 mins of downtown Staunton and only 25 min drive to Humpback Rocks. Owners were very responsive and friendly. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. The internet at the cabin worked well for an online class. Make sure to bring extra shoes if you plan to play in the creek, it's very muddy. The screened in porch was amazing, keeping the bugs out but able to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Overall, great stay and hope to return at some point in time."

- "Our stay was wonderful and all the information in the email was super helpful...once we found it! BEWARE - the address listed in the VRBO email is NOT the address of this cabin! (You NEED the email from the host!) Also, cell service is VERY unreliable, so be sure to print your information before heading there so you have everything you need! When we couldn't find information to check in (address and code to open door), we tried to contact the host, but didn't hear back until the following morning. Fortunately, we figured out the solution ourselves. The driveway WAS steep, but we didn't have any trouble. Super clean and all the linens looked new. Housekeeping does great work! This cottage is good and dark (great for sleeping in!), has very comfortable beds and pillows, and is super quiet (no squeaking floors or doors if anyone gets up at night!). Thanks for a great place for our little college roommate reunion! :-)"

- "We enjoyed our stay at Creekwood Cabins. We liked the convenience to Sherando Lake and to Wintergreen area. The cabin was fully stocked- however, having a hair dryer, towel rack in the master bathroom and additional lighting in master bedroom would have been ideal. As non-smokers, having cigarette holders is not preferred on the porch, but I suppose helpful for smokers. Overall, this is a great place. Thank you." - "It was a great experience. I loved it, we’ll definitely coming back. We loved the creek in the back and hearing the sound of water so distressed and calm. Our pug has a great time too. He enjoyed the treats and the space."

Afton Mountain Retreat
Cabin
Afton

This cabin sits on a 5 acre lot close to I.64 and Rt.250. It has nice mountain views from private back deck. It is close to (5 mins) the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive. Also a short drive to all the local wineries and breweries.
A Great location for hikers and cyclists!
The Cabin is cozy/rustic with character. It has everything you should need to make your stay comfortable.

Due to the coronavirus, we clean, sanitize and disinfect frequently touched hard surfaces between reservations.

The space
The Cabin is rustic but very comfortable. There is a large kitchen/ dining room with a large farm table and large window that looks out to trees and the mountains. There is a nice deck at the back which offers some outdoor space and privacy, nice spot to have your breakfast or just a cup of coffee. There is a cozy living room that has a sofa bed and a very comfy chaise lounge (my favorite resting place!) the bathroom is located off the living room.

PLEASE BE AWARE:
The stairs leading to bedroom downstairs is STEEP but with rails on both sides it's safe (but probably NOT suitable for elderly people or people with mobility issues or very young kids who need supervision). As you go down the steps you will need to " duck" your head slightly to avoid banging it against the overhead! (ouch).

The bedroom is a large room that is the size of both rooms upstairs. There is one queen and one full size bed on each side of the room, offering some semi privacy.

There is a laundry closet at one end of the bedroom, that you are welcome to use, there will be laundry soap available.

Guest access
The Cabin is situated behind my home, But it has its own driveway (mailbox 2813) and outdoor space, there is plenty of privacy and beautiful views.
You can also reach the cabin by turning onto the main driveway entrance to my property (mailbox 2811) this will bring you to the cabin behind the main house.
You can park at the front of the cabin, just leave space on one side of the driveway for cars to squeeze by! There is also parking space across from the cabin behind the main house.
