This "Beach Box" cottage on Martin Street has one of the best locations in Kill Devil Hills for close and convenient access to the beach, grocery stores, drug stores, shopping and restaurants. It is literally right in the middle of the OBX, and it's only a 2 minute walk straight to the beach.
It is an owner managed, very clean, 3 bedroom, 2 bath, single story, 'Smoke Free' beach cottage located in Kill Devil Hills, NC at Mile Post 9 just 2 lots back from the Beach Road. During the peak summer weeks we rent by the week only - from Sunday to Sunday. During the off season the cottage is available on a nightly basis with a 3 night minimum. KEY NOTES
Each year we keep making improvements to the property to give our tenants a well maintained home for their summer vacation.

I) This past fall we installed a new sod lawn (with irrigation system)....to eliminate those nasty sand spurs that reek havoc on children's bare feet. And we installed new flower beds in the front and rear of the lot. We also installed a new dishwasher

The year before we installed new carpet in the cottage. The year before that a new upgraded all vinyl deck with rain scape system to keep the mid level deck out of the rain. Before that ....a new washer and dryer. Before that a new custom outdoor shower.

We are constantly upgrading and improving the cottage for all to enjoy.

OTHER PROPERTY DETAILS
1) The Kitchen is fully stocked with all the appliances, kitchenware and utensils you will ever need during your vacation.....and also has an assortment of seasonings and spices for you to use.

2) The Living Area includes comfortable seating for 7 with a 40” smart HDTV, with streaming video via Youtube TV and Netflix.

3) The Master Bedroom suite includes a queen sized bed, HDTV, and a full sized bath with tiled floor and walk-in tiled shower

4) The two hall bedrooms have a queen sized bed in one and a set of bunk beds and twin bed in the other. Both have 32" HDTV's with streaming video via YoutubeTV on each.

5) The hall bathroom is full sized with a tiled floor and tub/shower combination with tiled walls

LOCATION
The walk to the beach is just 2 minutes straight out the font door to the beach. When you arrive at the beach on Martin Street you will find ample parking (if needed), public showers, a port-o-john toilet, and a life guard stand.

Within walking distance of the cottage you will find two drug stores (CVS & Walgreens), 6 restaurants (Dare Devils Pizza, The Bonzer Shack, Food Dudes, 5 Guys, JK’s Steakhouse, and Fuji Steak House) and 17th street surf shop. Within a 3 minute drive you will find 3 grocery stores, Sunsations (for all your beach supplies), and Duck Donuts (a favorite stop of all visitors to the OBX)

We have CONTACTLESS check-in and check-out. NO KEYS to keep up with or coordinating pick-up or drop-off appointments. If you want to check-in late --- no worries! We provide a door code before your check-in date so come as late as you need to. And, at the end of your stay, since there are no keys to return to us you can leave as early as you'd like. Simply close the door all the way and press the lock emblem in the center of the key pad.

PROPERTY DESCRIPTION:
This cozy "TURTLE SHELL" Beach Cottage is bright and cheerfully decorated with 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, (1 bathroom upstairs & 1 bathroom downstairs) and an outside shower and an enclosed garage as well as a heated/air conditioned laundry room. It is located in the heart of the Outer Banks between the highways (Beach Rd-Hwy 12 and the By-Pass Hwy 158) in Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948, close to the Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills. There are a couple of businesses nearby. The “Turtle Shell” is great for a single person, couple, small family or small group (up to 6 adults).

CEILING FANS & CENTRAL HEAT/AIR CONTIONING:
Throughout the cottage there are ceiling fans in all bedrooms, living room, dining and kitchen as well as CENTRAL heat and air conditioning in all living spaces.

KITCHEN - FULLY EQUIPPED:
Flat top stove with oven, kitchen island, dishwasher, microwave, air fryer/toaster oven combo, Keurig coffee brewer and a standard coffee brewer. Fully equipped with pots, pans, lids, cookie sheet and pizza pans, various size baking pans and casserole dishes, mixing/serving bowls, hand mixer, blender, colanders/strainers, measuring cups, measuring spoons, wine bottle opener, coffee bean grinder, electric can opener, gripper jar lid opener, plenty of beverage glasses, mugs, plates, bowls, utensils for eating/serving/mixing/cutting/peeling/chopping, food themometer, food storage containers for leftovers, etc.

Dining table with 6 chairs. TV trays available.

BEDROOMS (3):
The cottage has 1 QUEEN bed (master), 1 QUEEN bed (2nd bedroom), 2 TWIN beds (3rd bedroom).
One (1) additional twin bed downstairs in laundry room as well as 2 folding cots (best for children and small adults) are available for your use (bring your own linens for the cots & extra twin bed in laundry room). The cots are light-weight and can be moved to any room you want to use them in. Please return them to the location in the laundry room before you leave to go home.

BATHROOMS (2 Full bathrooms and an OUTSIDE SHOWER):
Upstairs: Full bathroom access from the hall and from the master bedroom. Equipped with toilet, shower stall, sink/vanity and blow dryer. Handsoap.
Downstairs: Full bathroom equipped with toilet, tub/shower, sink & mirror. Also has washer/dryer, twin size bed, comfy chair and tall dresser. Handsoap.

WASHER & DRYER:
There is a heated/air conditioned full bathroom with tub/shower combo, toilet and tub sink underneath the cottage (in the garage/recreation area) providing storage for your things as well. The WASHER & DRYER are located in this spacious area, as mentioned above.

RECREATION ROOM/GARAGE:
A full sized ping-pong table (can be folded for single player use) and picnic table is in garage for your enjoyment. Basketball goal outside!
There are 2 corn hole boards and 8 tossing bags for you & your family/friends to ENJOY! This can be played in the garage in the evenings or on rainy days. If you take it outside, please just remember to bring it in the garage when finished with your game.

FOR THE LITTLE ONES:
We have a booster seat with detachable food tray, an umbrella style stroller, a baby gate, and a pack-n-play bed for your little ones (you will need to bring your own sheets and blankie for the pack-n-play bed). Little Tikes toddler swing in the rec. room/garage area and toys.

CHARCOAL GRILL:
Large capacity cooking surface. We have plenty of utensils and a meat themometer needed for grilling out.

BIKES:
One (1) men's 26" bike, one (1) ladies, 26" bike, (5) various size kid-sized bikes. Various sized helmets available.

BEACH GEAR:
Beach gear includes: Two carts to haul your things to the beach, beach chairs, beach umbrella, boogie boards, cooler with pull handle & wheels, sun tanning mat, sand toys.
Please BRING your own beach towels.

COVERED OPEN PORCH/DECK:
Enjoy the porch with Swings and chairs after a day sunning/swimming at the beach. Great for morning sunrises and afternoon to evening shade.

PARKING:
The cottage has PLENTY OF PARKING with a concrete drive. You are welcome to park on the grassy areas as well if needed. The garage has PLENTY OF SPACE to store your fishing and beach accessories, motorcycles, jetskis, golf cart, etc.

RATES INCLUDE:
The rental, Spectrum TV, FREE password secured WiFi & NETFLIX. A set of kitchen towels & dish cloth. One (1) set of bed linens for EACH bed, (2 queen & 2 twins), 6 sets of bath towels (enough for 6 people), the cleaning at the end of your stay. Use of two cots (for children or small adults), but bring your own sheets for the cots. A Pack-n-Play is provided but you will need to bring your own sheets, blankie and towel for your little one.

BEACH ACCESS:
Stop sign at Wrightsville Blvd takes you to E. Eighth (8th) Street that is an easy 4 -5 minute walk to DIRECT PUBLIC ACCESS & BOARDWALK TO THE BEACH. The other end of the STREET DEAD ENDS, making for enjoyable walks without excessive traffic.

BEACH TOWELS:
We DO NOT provide beach towels so please bring your own or purchase some in the Outer Banks.

WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE:
The BEACH, of course! Numerous restaurants like The Flying Fish, Mama Kwan’s, Dare Devil Pizza, Pizza Pie, Bob’s Grill, Miller’s, Five Guys, Wendy’s, McDonald’s and many more. Bowling alley, car repair shops, various stores for shopping are also within walking distance like Staples, TJ Maxx, Ben Franklin Souvenir Shop, Dollar Tree, Harris Teeter Grocery Store, Thrift store, The Christmas Mouse, Beach Rentals (for kayaks, surf boards, paddle boards etc.) are only 2-10 minutes away walking.

CHECK OUT PROCEDURES:
Before leaving please do the following;
Windows: closed and locked
Blinds & Shades: Lower and close all blinds and all shades.
Towels: Put all bath linens in the laundry bags or baskets provided.
Sheets: Take all sheets off beds and put in the laundry bags or baskets provided.
Kitchen: Wash/dry and put away all dishes, pots and pans, etc. Put back where they were originally, in the appropriate cabinets.
Trash: Empty all trash cans inside the house and put in the outside black trash bin located by the steps and side garage door.
If you are at the cottage on Wednesdays or Sundays take the outside big black rolling trash bin to end of driveway. Trash is picked up Thursdays and Mondays (April - Oct). Trash pick up is on Monday's only during the months of Nov - March. Neighbors or next guests will bring it back to the house.
Refrigerator: Clean out refrigerator/freezer. Take all of your opened food with you or throw it away.
AC/Heat: Put AC on 75 degrees in Summer months and heat on 55 degrees in Winter months before you leave to go home or if you are going to be gone for long periods of time.
Furniture: If you move any furniture please return it to its proper place as you found it when you arrived.
Garage: Put away everything in it's proper place as you found it when you arrived.
Make sure garage doors are closed and locked. Slide the handles making sure they go into the slots of the garage door frame. Insert short pins/rods in holes of the handle bars holes.
Grill: Place COLD grill coals (not hot) in a trash bag and into the Big black trash bin.

Double check to make sure ALL doors and windows are closed and locked. We are not responsible for lost or stolen property.

DAMAGES:
There is a damage deposit but is not charged to your credit card unless after housekeeping checks out the cottage to be sure nothing is damaged or missing.
You are responsible for damaged or missing items. Please report to us and send pictures to us of any damages you notice or have caused. We will discuss reimbursement. The cleaning company will clean and inspect the property after your departure. Your credit card will only be charged after fair market replacement costs and/or repairs have been determined.

- "It made our vacation better; it was like home away from home. The cute decor the flowers the fenced in yard with grass was amazing ! The house was stocked, clean, and just all around amazing. The outside area at the house was great with the hammock and hot tub and it was fenced in. We loved it. It was a little oasis on its own. You need to pack your own sheets (there is 1 queen and 2 double beds)...and towels. Other than that bring yourself. The only thing that was tricky with two teenagers is the bedrooms are connected and you need to go through one to get to the other. We just put the sleeper in the back room and it worked out fine! Spend your days relaxing on the large screened in porch, complete with ceiling fan and beautiful view. Or go fishing, crabbing and swimming right off the dock in your own backyard. There is a retractable dock ladder for easy access. Kayaks and water toys are Not included. Rent or bring your own kayaks, paddle boards or other water toys to enjoy the beautiful calm harbor waters. Rinse off in the outside shower and end the day grilling local seafood or your favorite entrée on the gas grill. Then enjoy the meal from the patio with picnic table while watching the sun go down and the boats gently cruising by.
The Space:
This recently renovated 2 bedroom , 1.5 bath cottage is located on a quiet street in the gated community of Colington Harbor.
The property’s interior has a fully equipped kitchen including a dishwasher. There is a washer/dryer, two queen bedrooms (one with attached half bath) and queen sleep sofa in the living room. Mini split A/C units and ceiling fan in each room allows for individual comfort levels. Both bedrooms and the living room have Smart TV’s. Mid-October through mid-April cozy up in front of the gas fireplace. And of course everyone's favorite - a big screened in back porch and outside shower.
Pets: *For an additional $20 nightly fee you are welcome to bring one dog under 20lbs to share in your vacation. Please include "pet" when making your reservation. Note the yard is not fenced in. Please keep your dog on a leash when not in the home to keep your pet safe and neighbors happy. Please also clean up after your pet.
Community amenities include the beautiful sound side park with sandy beach area, playground, shaded picnic area and dog park. The community pool is not included with the rental of this property. There is also a fenced in basketball court just before you turn onto our street.
Important things to note:
Cottage Owners dock their boat on the pier lift. The owners reserve the right to access the pier for purposes of using their boat, via the adjoining property. The boat and lift are private property, Not included with the rental of the home. The rest of the beautiful dock, is for guest enjoyment and even has a slip if you would like to bring your boat. A launch pass can be purchased at the Colington Harbor Office for a fee of $10 per day or $25 for the week. The office # is (252) 441-5886, 9 -5 Monday – Friday. The launch pass can also be purchased at the gate - cash only. The boat launch is located in the lower parking area below the office building.

2 bath towels and 1wash cloth per person, bed linens, one hand towel per bathroom and kitchen linens are provided, (beach towels are Not).
Basic spices, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, coffee filters, hand soap, laundry detergent and starter package of paper towels and toilet paper are provided

Outside, take advantage of the front and back sundecks with dining tables. Enjoy the privacy of the brand new fenced in yard while you roast marshmallows by the firepit. You can cook up a quick meal on the outdoor charcoal grill and enjoy it al fresco! An enclosed outside shower is available to wash off the salt and sand from the life-guarded beach that is just 2 blocks away (only a three minute walk!). And, the central location makes it easy to visit the Wright Memorial, go shopping, or eat at some of the Outer Banks' best restaurants.

Linens, bath towels, bath mats, kitchen towels, and beach towels are all included.

Must be 25 years of age or older to rent. No house parties allowed. No excessive noise allowed. Absolutely no pets allowed!

We are already making plans to come back next year!" - "GREAT LOCATION " - "The house is as depicted, the location is “less than a quarter mile to the beach. The beach is beautiful and was not too busy (first week of August). The house was not as clean as we expected. We were surprised that we needed to put sheets on all the beds when we arrived after a day of travel. We found evidence of prior renters (chips under chairs, cigarette under a bed. The outdoor shower was mildewed so we didn’t use it, the outdoor hose wasn’t working either. There were enough plates for 40 people, but only 6 spoons. The coffee maker was filthy and needed a deep cleaning before we could use it. The TV in the living room is positioned awkwardly for anyone to watch. The house wasn’t terrible, it just wasn’t great, and the fixes are fairly simple. There are not beach chairs at the house so be prepared to pack, buy, or rent. We bought and packed chairs from Costco that cost less than a rental would have and half as much as purchasing locally. It would be nice if they were provided (previous beach rentals have included chairs, so again I was surprised by the lack). All in all, the house was okay, but not as nice as we expected. We have rented in many states over the past few years, so we think we have reasonable expectations for the price point we choose."

This 4-bedroom 4-bathroom is all you need for a relaxing vacation. Located on the beach road, Diggin' It provides amazing ocean views and only 405 feet to the nearest beach access, you’ll have your toes in the sand in just a 2-minute walk. If you prefer to drive, a public access with parking spots is right across the road or one with a big bath house is right down the road.

Diggin' It features a spacious driveway with room for plenty of parking. Cool off in the private pool on those hot, sunny days or warm up in the bubbly hot tub on those cool breezy nights. Other amenities include an outdoor shower and outdoor grill. Inside, you can hang out in the great room, watch TV, play some foosball, or shoot a game of bumper pool. A full-sized bathroom is located on ground-level.

The middle-level is the perfect place to relax after your fun-filled days. Unwind in one of two cozy Queen Master Bedrooms; each are beautifully decorated and direct access to a bathroom. Across the hall, the kids will have their own space in a 3rd room with a Bunk bed and a Single bed. If you want some fresh evening air, relish the view on the covered decks on the front and back of the house. Two full-sized bathrooms complete this level.

The spacious top-level will be your ultimate coastal escape. The living area features comfortable furnishings, high, vaulted ceilings and plenty of bright, natural light. The long dining table with ocean views is a great place to enjoy a family dinner or play a round of cards. The vaulted ceilings continue into the modern kitchen, which is stocked with a coffee maker, blender and pots and pans. A large King Bedroom complete the top-level along with a full-sized bath. Step outside to the screened porch for your morning cup of coffee as the sun rises over the horizon. Large sundecks on both sides of the house mean great views of the ocean to the east and lovely sunsets in the sky to the west.

When you’re not relaxing in the house, the town of Kill Devil Hills has wonderful restaurants, historic sites and shopping centers so you’ll have so much to do and explore! Diggin' It sits right across the road from the Stop N Shop convenience store for quick supply runs. For breakfast, try a famous Duck Donuts donut and for dinner, get some fresh seafood nearby at Captain George’s or Rooster’s Southern Kitchen. If you’re in the mood for a night out, Outer Banks Brewing Station has great late-night specials and is just a couple minutes away. If you love fishing, try your luck at Avalon Pier. For family fun, watch the local wildlife along the trails of Nags Head Woods or head over to the Wright Brothers National Memorial to learn why North Carolina is First in Flight. No matter how you choose to spend your vacation, you'll be Diggin' It at this awesome house!

Paradise Cottage is a charming cottage surrounded by magnificent pines, hugged by ivy, adorned with seasonal flowers, & flooded with dappled sunlight a mile from the beach. It is the perfect space to escape, unwind, explore, and enjoy island time. You will have access to a spacious & private fenced in yard. The outdoor space includes a picnic table for morning coffee or a romantic dinner, two hammocks for relaxing in after a day at the beach, chairs for chatting, a hose to rinse off your sandy toes, & soothing outdoor lighting. Free off street parking is directly in front of the could in the designated mulched area. A step stone path, on the left, will lead you through a tall gate to the main entrance to the cottage. The secondary entrance is on the right side. This side of the cottage is connected to *our home* with decking.

Paradise Cottage has been recently renovated for guests. It is clean, inviting, open, and airy studio cottage! The indoor space includes the following:

*43-inch Roku TV with Netflix, Hulu, & other free channels

*A comfy queen sofa bed
*Dressers & space to hang clothes (pull out the white rectangle by the main entrance to hang clothes)

The neighborhood is centrally located in the heart of KDH! Getting around town is extremely easy from this location. We are in a quiet neighborhood, but close to all the action. Route 158 is 0.6 miles away. Several locations may be reached by traveling through Nags Head Woods and the neighborhood.
Other things to note
Free off street parking is available directly in front of the cottage on the mulched area directly in front of the cottage.
It is a 15/20 easy walk to the beach.
It is an easy 7/15 minute bike ride to the beach.
It is an easy 5 minute drive to various free public beach parking.

It is a please to share our cottage with you & help you make the most of your time while on the OBX. We live right next door and will be available by text or through email. We are a busy family that will be coming and going during your stay. We will respect your privacy by all means. I do teach a preschool class some mornings on the other side of our double lot. This is completely removed from your space.

There are pets that live on the property. Sweet senior labs that you may hear upon arrival. They will always be separated from your space. We also have one cat. Kitty is our 4 year old cat. She is affectionate, but mostly keeps to herself.
We are a pet free cottage due to the other animals that live in close proximity to the cottage. I want to ensure a good fit and a wonderful vacation for all. * the fire pit is unavailable*

Stay in the heart of Kill Devil Hills at the "Sand bUKet". This tastefully updated 4-bedroom, 2 bath cottage has everything beach lovers need for a great vacation in a central locale on the Beach Road in Kill Devil Hills. A perfect launching point for your adventures right across the street from the oceanfront and less than a 2 minute (430 feet) walk to the public beach access on Martin's Street.

The entry-level laundry inside laundry area leads upstairs to the first level with two queen bedrooms, one bedroom with bunk beds and a single bed, one full bathroom, and a living area with a TV and deck access with stairs to the driveway.

. The top level has ocean views from the living area and the deck, one queen bedroom, and one full bathroom that can be accessed from the bedroom or from the living area. The kitchen features granite countertops, a separate cooktop with four burners, and a built-in grill. Best of all, guests can simply step outside to the top level deck anytime for sea breezes or to take in a view of the ocean.

We offer two options for outdoor grilling - charcoal or gas. Both outdoors on the ground level.

We are located directly next to the popular local hang-out, the Bonzer Shack, that offers yummy coastal food and fun outdoor music. It's also just a 1-2-minute walk to Dare Devil's Pizzeria and Food Dudes Kitchen and a 5-10-minute walk to The Pit Surf Shop, CVS, Kill Devil Burgers, Five Guys Burgers, JK's Restaurant, Fuji Japanese Steakhouse, Starbucks. and other shops and restaurants.

You are right in the heart of town on the oceanfront, so in season there will be activity all around!

Additional rules - PLEASE READ!
Dogs welcome - 2 maximum - with prior approval and an additional fee. Guests must get approval and provide details on pets in advance. The Pet fee does NOT include any additional cleaning required due to pets.
*Please clean up after your pet.
* Do not allow them one our furniture or beds. (Or bring a blanket from home and leave no trace. :)
*Do not leave pets alone unattended or uncrated for long periods of time. (We have a medium size crate set up in the dining room for your use as well as baby gates that can be used to keep them contained to one area.)
* All dogs must be up to date on flea meds, well socialized, and FRIENDLY to strangers if we have to access the house.
*If your dog is a "shedder" please keep up on the dog hair and vacuum on a daily basis or clean up before check-out.
Guests not bringing pets/non-pet owners - this is a pet friendly home and therefore may not be suitable for guests with allergies to dogs .
Parties and undisclosed overnight guests will NOT be tolerated. We are literally your neighbors and live just a couple miles away. We are super laid back, but expect that you will respect our space and the rules.

If you use the grill, please clean it for the next guest. Our cleaners do NOT clean grills. If you use the last of the propane, please exchange it. if you are using the charcoal grill you must buy the charcoal.

We do not have trash rollout or rollback service. Guests are responsible for rolling out and rolling back trash carts on the designated days.

We supply the first roll of toilet paper in each bathroom and one roll of paper towels to get guests started. Further paper product needs are the guests' responsibility.

Please leave the space as you found it within reason. We will ask you to take out the trash, start the laundry with dirty towels and run the dishwasher and wash the dishes before you check out. Please don't book if you feel this is not appropriate.

If you break something please replace it or let us know ahead of time so that we can be pro-active for the next guests. We know accidents happen and that is why we offer insurance for damages- just help us out.
