- "This little gem of a cottage was perfect for the two of us. Had my daughter and her husband come, I think we might have felt it cramped. What everyone says about this cottage is true. The photos represent the cute and adorable nature of it. Although you have to cross the beach road to get to the ocean, for the two weeks we stayed there, that was NEVER difficult or dangerous. Cars generally are going slowly and seem to be used to looking out for pedestrians and STOP for them. Also, the Surfin’ Spoon next door is delightful. Just a family crowd. Never noisy or rowdy. Happy people, getting frozen yogurt on the front porch or in the front yard, and then they leave. We brought a sheet to hang on the clothesline for privacy, as someone had suggested, but we took it down. It cut down on the breeze, and we realized we LIKED seeing the Surfin’ Spoon crowd and they didn’t seem to notice us at all. Didn’t hear them after bedtime, either. The cottage lacks nothing. I’m pretty critical and all I missed was a vegetable peeler and a tea kettle. HA!! I would go back if just the two of us go again. I loved taking care of it. Very homey and comfortable."

The Mermaid's Pillow is located on NC Highway 12 in Nags Head at MP 11.25. It is directly across the street from the beach. There are 2 beach accesses nearby & it's a 3–4 minute walk to the beach.

Cottage boasts classic Nags Head style with modern amenities. Color TVs, You Tube TV & Internet. Fully appointed kitchen with electric range, microwave, refrigerator & dishwasher. Washer/dryer. Handicap accessible master bedroom & bath feature large roll-in shower with shower chair and double vanity with roll-under feature for wheelchairs. Sea Glass is a charming oceanfront beach cottage located at the end of a quiet cul de sac in South Nags Head . . . and the Atlantic Ocean is literally your backyard. The beach starts at the bottom of the stairs :-) Enjoy outside living on the large oceanfront covered porch with a tall table + 4 tall chairs, plus a picnic table. Grab a good book and a glass of wine and enjoy the salty air and shimmering ocean at sunset . . . my favorite time of day :-) Or perhaps a nap in the double sized hammock below is more your speed? Sea Glass cottage features a large open living area with bamboo flooring, lots of natural light, and lovely ocean views. The well equipped kitchen features stainless steel appliances, fridge with ice maker and filtered water on door, and an island bar overlooking the adjoining dining and living rooms. Sea Glass accommodates 6 people (4 adults & 2 kids). There is an oceanfront queen, an oceanfront twin bunk room, and a king bedroom with it's own half bath. The shared full bath features a shower with tub should you need one for the kids . . . but trust me, you'll be taking all your showers in the large private, enclosed outside shower with hot and cold water.

We are located in the heart of Nags Head, one of the best locations on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Jim and I welcome guests who will enjoy a cottage that is in pristine condition. The cottage is in walking distance to the Bladen Street Beach Access (less then a (10 )ten minute walk or a two minute bike ride), we are between the highways which means you never have to cross the busy bypass to get to the beach! Take a stroll to the Nags Head Pier, Tortugas' Lie, and Lucky 12 Tavern or a bike ride to multiple art galleries, coffee shops, ice cream shops, and even Jockey's Ridge State Park (the largest dunes on the east coast which promise incredible sunsets). Kids and adults will enjoy a game of Putt Putt at Galaxy Golf. We pride ourselves in making sure the cottage is clean and well decorated. Adjoining the outdoor dining deck is a lounging deck which is a great place to lay out or read a book. We are less then nine miles to the town of Maneto and many Public Golf Courses.

- "Beachfront property that had everything we were looking for with a 3 year old and two bird dogs. Would absolutely return." - "As soon as I walked into cottage I immediately felt at home and was very pleased with all that was provided in the kitchen(did not need anything that was on the list they told you to bring ) Any appliance you needed to cook with was there and more! Even outdoor grill utensils. The only thing I really needed to bring was bed sheets and bath towels.. and coffee(the nice welcome pack did have small bag ) My favorite part was the wooden lounge chairs and hammock set up alongside the path to the beach! With a dog it's difficult to set up a good lounge area and this was perfect even up high enough to provide shade underneath for her. Every little thing you could need was there in cottage and it really was the perfect size for us. I used the extra bedroom as a big closet but it would have easily accommodated extra people. I'm not sure if I misread this or imagined it so forgive me if I'm mistaken but I was under the impression that this first cottage, Tina tuna faced the ocean, as in you could see the ocean from one side of it but you could not, maybe if you stood on the roof lol but really with such a short walk up the stairs to the picnic table or the wonderful lounge chairs no big deal at all! I liked that it was next to the public access and the life guard station. I'm back in May of 2022 and can hardly wait!"

It was a great week." - "The old-school cottages at Fish Cay offered everything we needed for a safe, simple beach vacation with our two-year-old granddaughter and a mobility-impaired granddad. Everything was as described and the location was perfect: No streets to cross to walk to the beach, an ADA wheelchair ramp to the sand at the public beach next door, an all-abilities playground two blocks away, and two ice cream shops within easy wheelchair-stroller walking distance. The whole experience harkened back to the simpler (more affordable) beach vacations of our childhood —if we’d had WiFi and air conditioning back then. If you want fancy or luxurious look elsewhere (and pay a heck of a lot more for it). But if you’re searching for an old-school beach, mini-golf (directly across the street)’ and ice cream vacation any one of the four compact cottages at 2 Fish Cay would fit the bill."

We have had more fun checking guests in personally and telling them about our Outer Banks than you know and can't wait for future guests to come enjoy any one of our places. Mom made them super cute and beach themed. If you wanted to go on vacation with some other families but like your space also, we have the spot for you and our family restaurant , the Dunes is right behind you for breakfast, dinner, carry out and a full bar with no driving required. Our places are safe and secure with storage for beach gear.
In the event of a hurricane or threat of one and you need to cancel. Not a problem! We give a full refund. We do not wish to profit from a storm and we will hope you can rebook at a future date and pick us and Nags Head year after year.

The beach accesses
By close they are 50 yards on each side. The one to the north does have an out door shower and foot wash, but there is also a water hose on the north side of the house. If is blowing be sure to wash off your car. There is a spacious front porch to enjoy your coffee and catch a glimpse of the ocean and a back deck for a cocktail and a sunset you won't forget. Want to bring your boat? Not a problem. We have plenty of room to put even the biggest of trailer-able boats. There is lots to do. A 1000 foot pier, Jennette's, operated by the North Carolina Aquarium, is half a mile away for fishing and just to walk. Putt putt, go carts, and jet skis are across the street on the sound side, along with a public access. There are 10 restaurants within 3 miles. Fishing charters are available within a short drive down to Pirates Cove Marina. Nags Head Golf Links is 1 mile away with links style golf at its finest. Need someone to play with? Just let me know! They also gave me some discount cards. Hatteras ferry dock is an hour a way to the island of Ocracoke. My Family owns and operates the Dunes Restaurant for the past 34 years. We love the area and know you will have a great time staying here with us in Nags Head.

On Roanoke Island you will find a bunch of stuff to do. One is the North Carolina Aquarium. Its one of several in the NC system and also hooked to Jennetts Pier. Its a good go to for the whole family, I like to take a date there to kill some time on a cloudy day. Lots of animals and fish and even a jelly fish viewing. For the price its worth is. There is also the Lost Colony play that recreates the first English settlement in 1587 and what they think happened. It only plays in summer though. Most of the actors are college students in preforming arts. It has true story behind it, Indians and gun fights, Singing and Dancing, and great costumes. Its 20 for any seat and 25 or 30 and you get to go back stage.
In downtown Manteo there are shops from fine art to beach stuff, 4 restaurants, one with a brewery, a distillery, a child play ground, a replica of a light house, my grandad was stationed on the real one, a historic boat building shop, some charter boats for hire, a pirate ship, and the oldest family run movie theater, that is only 7 per person and they have great popcorn.

Decor was tasteful and beach themed just as captured in photos and very comfortable. Felt like home away from home. Lots of great local restaurants nearby (our favorite was the Dune’s) which we could walk to for breakfast and dinner. Back porch provides great view of sunset or short walk / drive to park across 158 for a view over the sound. Beach was amazing and was a 2 minute walk each morning. Its a good go to for the whole family, I like to take a date there to kill some time on a cloudy day. Lots of animals and fish and even a jelly fish viewing. For the price its worth is. There is also the Lost Colony play that recreates the first English settlement in 1587 and what they think happened. It only plays in summer though. Most of the actors are college students in preforming arts. It has true story behind it, Indians and gun fights, Singing and Dancing, and great costumes. Its 20 for any seat and 25 or 30 and you get to go back stage.
In downtown Manteo there are shops from fine art to beach stuff, 4 restaurants, one with a brewery, a distillery, a child play ground, a replica of a light house, my grandad was stationed on the real one, a historic boat building shop, some charter boats for hire, a pirate ship, and the oldest family run movie theater, that is only 7 per person and they have great popcorn.

Renovated yet nostalgic and full of classic Nags Head charm, this is the well-appointed beach cottage you’ve been looking for.

A dog-friendly cottage with a studio layout, Kemp & Olive features a well-equipped kitchen, a flat screen TV, WiFi, cable, a shared washer & dryer, and a mini-split heating & air conditioning system for optimal temperature control. The outdoor area offers an outdoor shower, charcoal grill, an outdoor hose, and a backyard firepit – B.Y.O firewood and smores!! For your convenience, the cottage has a cart for hauling your beach gear to and from the sand.

Linens and cleaning are included in the rate. Linens are provided by an independent vendor (bed linens, bath towels, washcloths, sheets). Bed will be made when you arrive!

Located on the beach road, the property is just a short walk away from a beautiful beach access over a natural dune on Grouse Street (see aerial photos above). One of two cottages onsite, Kemp and Olive is one of just a handful of cottage courts still in existence in Nags Head.

In addition to many local retail shops, fine and casual dining establishments and grocery stores, the cottage is also close to many great local attractions including the beautifully renovated Jennette's Pier (less than one mile away), the North Carolina Aquarium in Manteo, Jockey's Ridge, Tanger Outlet shopping, Bodie Island Lighthouse, Coquina Beach, and off-roading and fishing at Oregon Inlet.

There is a two-dog maximum, we do not allow cats, and we do not charge a pet fee. There is no smoking allowed in the cottage. The cottage is not handicap accessible. We have a 30-day cancellation policy - refunds will only be issued if cancellation is submitted in writing to the property manager outside of 30 days from check-in date.
