If you are coming to the Outer Banks to party, shoot off fireworks, and generally make a lot of noise this is not the place for you!! We live in a neighborhood of working people who are not on vacation. We will do our best to respect your privacy and stay as quiet as possible upstairs – just keep in mind that 3 people live upstairs and the normal amount of noise should be expected.
If you are looking for a Motel 6 or Holiday Inn type accommodation - this is not for you. But if you are interested in living with the real people of the Outer Banks - this might just be perfect. We are a laid back, fun family and offer to share our beautiful property with you and we are available to answer any questions you may have about local restaurants, etc. Whatever it is – having lived here for over 30 years – we’ve either done it, or know someone who has!

Take a step back in to simpler times. Your family and friends will love this 1950's Fisherman's cottage charmer - a little hidden gem in OBX! The property has been painstakingly renovated to bring back the good ol' days while providing guests with all the amenities of home.

We're dog friendly - WOOF! We do have a two dog maximum policy (no cats, please!), but no additional pet fees. Located across the street from a beach access, the two bedroom, one bath cottage sits on a semi-oceanfront lot. The building has been lifted so you can enjoy views of the sound, catch beautiful sunsets, and watch kite-boarders in the distance. Other property features include WIFI, flat screen TVs (3), a well-stocked kitchen, and a fire pit.

One of two cottages on site, the property is a part of one of the few cottage courts still existing in Nags Head.

There is a two-dog maximum, we do not allow cats, and we do not charge a pet fee. There is no smoking allowed in the unit. This unit is not handicap accessible. We have a 30-day cancellation policy - refunds will only be issued if cancellation is submitted in writing to the property manager outside of 30 days from check-in date.

Bankers Cottage is centrally located in Nags Head close to many great local attractions including the beautifully renovated Jennette's Pier (one mile away), wonderful restaurants, grocery stores, the NC Aquarium in Manteo, Jockey's Ridge, Tanger Outlet Shopping, Bodie Island Lighthouse, Coquina Beach, off-roading and fishing at Oregon Inlet, fine and casual dining and much more.

Yes, we love dogs!!, and have generously opened our newly renovated rental up to furry friends, because we too have furry family members (who are located in a enclosed fence). In return, we kindly ask dogs stay off furniture (beds/couch) and all linens, and guests provide dog beds or crates for their furry guests. Since we provide linens, it can take 2-3 washes at a time to get dog hair out, and triple the cleaning time and costs. If you have a puppy or a dog that isn't house broken, has a tendency to chew on things, or is shedding, please keep dog in crate at all times when you aren't present in rental. The pet fee covers 1 dog per a stay, if there are any additional pets there will be an additional fee of $50 per pet (per a stay).

Your hosts: The property is a 20,000 sq ft lot with no residences to the north or south of the property and feels very private. The rental and residence are 2 completely different spaces and neither are shared. The rental is a ground level space (with no one above or below) and encompasses 2 private entrances separate from the primary residence to enter/exit. There are no common shared areas (including parking) with homeowners, except front of yard. We also offer no shared amenities, such as private gas bbq pit, beach chairs (5), umbrella, boogie boards (2), and accessories.

- "Close to the beach and other attractions. Hosts were friendly and accommodating." - "We enjoyed our stay at this small property. The location was excellent, and the suite was immaculate. Please note there is not a laundry room at this property. Additionally, there was one towel and one washcloth allotted for a six night stay. The owner was kind to bring additional towels upon request. We would stay there again; however, the suite was cooled with a room air conditioner in the main room. As you can see in the photo, it was professionally installed. The air conditioner is loud and kicks on and off constantly (like every 30-60 seconds). When we visited the sofa was under the air conditioner, so conversation and watching a movie were challenging with the noise. Again, not the biggest deal in the world, but if you are noise sensitive, it will bother you. The host was lovely, and responded promptly. You are staying on the bottom floor of a house. You will hear the people above you, and they will hear you. Again, everyone was respectful, but it may bother you to hear others and know they can likely hear you. I mention all of this not as negatives, rather information that might be helpful."

Our place is walking distance to the beach and Nags Head Town Park . There are some hiking trails to the Albemarle sound. Dowdy Park is also close. We are located in walking/ biking distance to great local restaurants, ice cream shops, surf shops, coffee shops, grocery stores, antique stores, yoga studios, YMCA and much , much more. The walk to Barnes St beach Access is about a 10 - 15 min walk less on bikes .
The space
Lost on Lost Colony has a great out door sitting area, relax with your coffee or tea in the morning. Coffee maker, microwave, toaster oven, and small refrigerator are available for your convenience. Great access to the beach or the park 10 minutes in either direction. We have bikes, umbrella, and beach chairs available for free (at your risk/responsibility) for your entire stay. We are close to SUP rentals and surf lessons. Art on the walls is done by all local artists, and is for sale upon request. You could park your car and walk or bike to most everything you need in Nags Head. We do live upstairs with the cats. We will either be at work or the beach most of the summer. We will be available to answer and questions you might have while staying in Nags Head.

Guest access
You have an outside shower , and a foot rinsing hose to get the sand off after a beach day. The entrance is around the side of the house with its own seating area filled with plants and a hammock is available upon request. We occasionally have a fire pit out back and you are welcome to join us. The motto is Beach,Sleep, Repeat!

Pretty much everything you need for a good beach stay is available here. We provide soap, shampoo, linens. Just don't forget your sunscreen and bathing suit!
There are 2 cats that live upstairs, you mostly won't notice them they are pretty lazy until dinner time!

They accommodated our late arrival. The property was as advertised...better, in fact. We arrived after a very difficult drive. Lisa said, "It's a very comfortable bed." She was right! The bed is extremely comfortable. The apartment is small, but there is plenty of room for two people. The bathroom is a full-size bath with a curved shower rod (excellent choice!) and a shower head that my husband really appreciated. :Lisa and Cyrus have done an excellent job of utilizing the space they have, and it is tastefully, fashionably, and comfortably decorated. They have provided well for the needs of their guests - and have done so very practically but tastefully. One of the things I look for is the availability of towel hangers. Lisa and Cyrus have plenty, and they are placed where most needed. There is an outside seating area with bicycles available for guest use. The property is centrally located in OBX - almost equidistant between Corolla and Hatteras. We would definitely stay here again."

This unique space has a glamping cottage feel tucked away on the small island of OBX minutes from the Atlantic Coast. The cozy room opens through a rustic barn door to a screened seating area that leads out to the (seasonally) heated pool and relaxing spa. The bathroom is located off of the bedroom with access also from the screened porch.

The space
This en suite is a rustic cabin-like space hidden under the house with a cozy queen size bed and snug sofa for your leisure. A large wood barn door separates your bedroom space from a screened seating area. The large screened in outdoor sitting area offers seating, dining table, an apartment size refrigerator, table tennis, and television. The bathroom can be accessed from the bedroom or the sitting area for ease of use while swimming or enjoying the hot tub. There is a direct entrance to the pool and hot tub from the outdoor space. The pool area offers multiple seating option along with a propane fireplace, string lighting on the parameters of the space for soft lighting at night, and access to the side yard for yard games and a fire pit area. There are multiple televisions, and Bluetooth speaker for your entertainment. This glamping experience offers the modern conveniences with wonderful outdoor experiences.
While there is no kitchen located in the space, it does offer a microwave, coffee pot, gas grill, refrigerator, and collapsible sink. There is an outdoor shower and indoor shower.

Full disclosure:
The rooms lock from the inside-2 latches on the barn door, a lock on both bathroom doors, and a lock on the screen door leading to the side yard. The barn door is not sealed on the top and bottom-light will shine through from the screened porch area. If light can get in so can pests. We have the house and yard sprayed every 3 months for any pest that naturally live on the Outerbanks, however we can not control nature-so you may encounter a few during your stay. Also before you book your stay with us- the weather on our sandbar is very unpredictable, the forecast could indicate storm but it may never rain in our town and vice versa; a storm may pop us unexpectedly-ruining all your outdoor plans.

During your stay
We use the pool and outdoor space often but will reframe from the hot tub during your stay. Our two friendly doodles will use the area and side yard, but we will be mindful of your activities.

Other things to note
The bedroom temperatures are controlled from upstairs. The temperature can be maintained by keeping the doors closed. Extra blankets, a portable fan, space heater are provided to warm/cool the area, and a ceiling fan can be utilized to cool it further.

The barn door separates the suite from the screened porch area.

There is a apartment refrigerator, microwave, and Keurig but limited space for prepping food and a collapsable sink for clean up. Grilling utensils and propane are provided. Grills must be cleaned after use.

The bathroom is attached to the bedroom but accessible from the screened porch as part of the common area.

Cozy suite with private entrance located in Nags Head on the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina... moments away from the Atlantic Ocean and tourist attractions abound.
Since our guests are coming from out of town we do provide some beach items including two beach chairs and two boogie boards as well as a few beach toys!! We also like to assure our guests that we will assist in anything else that they might need!

The space
Here at Cozy Hart's Hideaway you are in the heart of the Outer Banks with the Atlantic Ocean a few minutes away, Jockey's Ridge is within walking or biking distance, multiple piers are in the area, and so many options for dining! Roanoke Island is a great day trip and don't forget the NC Aquarium and Elizabethan Gardens. To the south you have Bodie Island Lighthouse, Hatteras Lighthouse and you have to take a trip to Ocracoke Island! To the north we have the Village of Duck with great shops and dining, Corolla is the next stop on the trip north and of course Carova with the Wild Ponies of the Outer Banks (four wheel drive or book a tour as this is off road!)
The suite has two components, a private room with the queen size bed, bathroom, and the kitchen/dinette area. This area is completely private. The other component is an open room with a queen sized sofa bed, couch and chairs. We also have some of our catering supplies in this room but they are separate from the seating area. All areas have curtains for complete privacy.
The suite is fully equipped with a full kitchen, gas range, toaster oven, full size refrigerator with ice maker, Keurig coffee maker and the accoutrements for your coffee or tea! There is a 32" Roku friendly wall mounted TV that is visible from the cozy seating area as well as the queen sized bed. Fresh sheets and plenty of fresh towels for your comfort and convenience! There is much, much more but you need to visit us to experience this quiet and cozy get away!

Our guests have a private suite with a private entrance. We do own a catering business and some of our supplies are stored in the first room. We do not as a rule enter either room while our guests are here with the exception of an emergency of course or with our guests permission if it is absolutely necessary. I have had guests ask about washer/dryer access especially for those that have an extended stay. Those items are located within our private residence so the guests do not have access to them. There is a laundromat in KDH that is of a good size and easily reached from here.

Other things to note
I must let our guests know that we are animal lovers and do have a dog and two cats. The backyard is fenced in and is private for the owners and if we do have our dog out of the yard she is on a leash at all times.
There is a nice quiet area outside under the shade for our guests to enjoy, especially any smokers as smoking is not allowed inside the unit.
