A few comments for improvement - the front left kitchen stove burner doesn't work, we were supplied with 4 toilet paper rolls, not the advertised 1, and we didn't have enough bathroom hand soap for the week. The kitchen would also benefit from having a cutting board. Overall, wonderful cute place. If we're ever in the area again, we'd choose your apartment!"

- "Great location…Super beach vibe." - "We loved our stay here. It’s not beach front but it’s close enough to the beach that it might as well be. You can see the ocean and hear the waves from the front porch. We LOVED that it was dog friendly which was our main reason for renting it in the first place. The kitchen has essentials (pots pans silverware glasses coffee mugs) but don’t expect extras, just plan to bring them. There are some nails that are starting to come up out of the wood in the front porch but it isn’t horrible. All in all, we had an amazing stay at this property, would highly recommend it to anyone traveling with pets who still wants beach front without paying a crazy amount of money. Loved it here! Good value for a nice rental."

- "I am giving this house 5 stars because of its location and views. We are not picky people and we barely spend any time in the house, so it was perfect for us. We had a really easy walk across the street to the beach; however, some people may have trouble accessing the house if they do not have a vehicle with 4WD or all wheel drive as everything is covered in sand. Thankfully, we had our truck so there weren't any issues. If you plan to cook a lot of meals in the house, you may want to bring some cooking utensils and a couple pots and pans. We ate out most of the time, but when we did cook we had to get a little creative with what was available. When we got there we noticed there was a coffee maker that was missing the pot. We reported the issue and a new coffee maker was delivered to us the next day. We also reported that the toaster did not work unless you stood there and manually held the lever down, but that was never replaced. All in all, we would definitely stay here again. The place seemed clean, the bathroom was large, it was pet friendly, close to the beach and it was perfect for what we needed."

- "Home was what was expected from the pictures. Very close to beach, the pool is a community pool shared by other communities--it is about a 10 minute drive from Zebrafish. Not something we used everyday because of the drive, but when we did check it out it was nice. Be aware of the hours of operation, since it's a community pool, it was not open all the time. The outdoor shower head was broken. They had it fixed within a few hours of me notifying them of the issue. They are very quick to respond to communications."

- "Second year staying here and absolutely love it. Will be back." - "This unit has views of the beach from one of the bedrooms and from the screened porch. The place is clean and spacious for a family of 4. The washer and dryer in the unit is a huge plus for long term stays. You also have access to a pool that is a 10-15 min. drive from this house. This place is good value for the money. The downside is the apartment is very bare and the furnishing is a bit dated. There are areas with peeling paint from the ceiling. The window blinds also need to be replaced especially in the bedroom with the beach view since it is missing some pieces. The window blinds issue becomes a bit annoying at night since the light from the lighthouse flashes through the windows every 15-30 seconds. Also not included in the listing but there is a charcoal grill near by the entrance. "

- "The house was great. The beach is incredible. Having the Iggy house in the backyard is absolutely amazing. The door lock had some issues hon check in. It was quickly resolved when we card Vacasa. The kitchen had some dirty dishes it away. A lot of crumbs under couch cushions as well as just debris from other guests under the furniture. Aside from it’s convenient location and proximity to the beach, the layout of the house was perfect for our group - plenty of room to hang out, including two porches. I found that the house was mostly updated ( with the exception of the cabinets) The house is a large pet friendly duplex and very close to the beach. I enjoyed sitting on the screen porch having my tea in the morning- I could see the ocean from there. I took my dog on walks on the beach in the morning. There is a pool, however, the downside is that you have to drive to the pool. This is a short 10 minute drive. We would spend the day at the beach and go to the pool in the afternoon/ early evening. The house was well stocked with toilet paper, however, there was no coffee and we were given only 4 bath towels. The property manager ( Vacasa) was very friendly, however, I was informed the day prior that there was work that had to be completed while I was staying at the property. I was not happy as I felt the need to be at the property when the workers arrived. There was work done on the steps so we had to use the the back steps to leave and could not re enter until the work was complete. This was very inconvenient!! With that being said, we had a great week over all and truly enjoyed our week in the Outer Banks."

The space
Welcome to Drum Run Cottage! Our spacious, open concept, and newly renovated home is located in the heart of residential Buxton. Enjoy the coastal boho vibe with the decor and furnishings. There are large picture windows that let a ton of light in! The kitchen is fully equipped with an air fryer, drip and Keurig coffee pot and waffle maker. The leathered granite countertops are new with beautiful floating shelves. The king and queen beds are very comfortable. There are Roku tv’s in both bedrooms. The bathroom is equipped with a new tile walk in shower.
There is a washer and dryer. You can take your coffee onto the back porch and rock with comfy rocking chairs. There is a 52 inch Roku tv and also a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. Luxury vinyl plank flooring is throughout. We have a full dining area with leafs to the table that can be added upon request. There is nice bar seating as well. We have a fun coffee bar for your morning grind! Drum Run Cottage has three steps in the entrance and one step in the hall but otherwise one level. We are located on Highway 12 with a u shaped driveway with ample parking. No bumpy roads to go down here!

There is hot water even though the listing says there isn’t. I’m not sure why it says that, but I promise there is.

You will park to the left of the porch. There’s a roped off section for you to park. You’ll follow walkway around back.

Other things to note
Havens place unit 2 is small. It’s cozy and clean but it’s small. It is a spot for 1 or 2 people who can’t spend a lot on lodging.

Situated on a quaint sound side harbor this top floor private room is nestled among live oaks and southern pine trees (hence the name); queen bed, private bath, shower, private entrance and porch, coffee maker, mini fridge and microwave. Enjoy a bit of harbor life, walk across the street to Pop's for a beer and a meal, or enjoy kite lessons or fishing with Capt. Ty! A few minutes drive to the lighthouse, The Treehouse is equidistant from north Avon to the Hatteras ferry docks.

The space
The fact that the room is private, in the middle of Buxton, yet tucked away and surrounded by Oak and Cedar trees with a sound view, is very unusual. The room has a two person maximum.

You will have your own parking space in the driveway. There are stairs on the back porch that lead to your room. It is a separate entrance from the rest of the house. There are 2 flights of stairs to access the room.

Located only a few minutes and a short walk to the beach, 4 Fun is close to restaurants, shops, miniature golf, and other activities for a fun-filled vacation.

4 Fun is a private room with a private entrance in a newly renovated beach bungalow-type motel. You can relish the charm and simplicity of the past while enjoying the comfort of the present.

The two bedroom apartment includes a 55 inch flat screen, dish washer, microwave. Colorful, comfortable and convenient. This is the perfect getaway for couples, individuals, and children! Drop your kayak into the sound across the street at the Buxton Harbor. Short drive to Teaches Lair and Oden's Dock for charters and the free Ocracoke Ferry. This space is close to everything Hatteras!

The space
The Two Bedroom Apartment entrance is located on the back of the building on the 2nd floor. Parking is available in front drive. To access the two bedroom apartment simply follow path between house and building to the back and upstairs.

The cottage offers a sense of privacy within the trailer park, providing a peaceful retreat while enabling easy access to the nearby beach, just a short drive from the cottage. This charming cottage was built to resemble the old lifesaving stations on the Outer Banks. Perfect for a small family or 2 couples. A short walk to Pop’s Raw Bar & Grill. No sound or ocean view but only 5 minutes from Cape Hatteras Lighthouse beach access and Frisco beach access.

The space
Buxton Woods is a component of the NC Coastal Reserve. The site is located within the largest remaining contiguous tract of Maritime Evergreen Forest on the Atlantic coast.

Rooms with Views is a beautiful apartment on the bottom floor of a residence overlooking the Pamlico Sound. It has a living room, kitchen , dining area, bedroom, bath and outdoor living area with a pool, hot tub and boardwalk. There is a beautiful view of the sound and a boardwalk and dock. It is located a short distance from the beach, restaurants, and hiking in the Buxton Woods.

The space
This is a one bedroom apt on a lower level of a waterfront home overlooking the Pamlico Sound. The home has a pool and hot tub as well as a full lower deck that is for your use. There is access directly to the sound by way of the boardwalk and you are close to many access points to the beach.

Guest access
You have access to the lower deck and back yard outside of the bedroom and living room and the pool, hot tub and boardwalk. There are kayaks for your use on the sound.

Other things to note
The thermostat controlling the temperature is on the second floor. I keep it set at 74 in the summer and 71 in the winter. Please message me if you prefer a different setting and I will make the change.

Tiny living is a new camper, located in a private campground in Buxton, less than 1.5 miles from the lighthouse & beach! This camper is perfect for 1-2 adults & 2 kids and offers everything you need for a beach getaway. Full bath, ac, kitchen and outside shower. Private partially fenced area with a picnic table and fire pit. Quiet & family friendly. Happy glamping!

The space
Tiny living is campsite #14 and it’s “tiny” just 19ft long but most find it just fine for sleeping and hanging out outside around the fire pit and picnic table. This camper sleeps 1-2 adults and 2 kids or teens. Adults may feel too snug sleeping in the bunks so we don’t recommend this camper for 4 adults. The oven/stove top are not available for use. There’s a mini fridge/freezer, toaster, microwave and outside gas grill (propane provided). Coffee pot and cooking essentials. We do not offer wifi but cellular data works well for connecting to the internet from your phone. The tv only plays movies (small dvd selection). Parking available for two cars in front of the camper. Linens and bathing essentials provided (shampoo & conditioner, body wash and toilet paper) Washer/dryer facility located on site. Quiet campground.

The space
Our brick/stick-built 1970 home sits 13' above sea level, on more than half an acre of land. Our front yard is open and expansive.

We have a 'horseshoe'/U-shaped driveway, of which your own designated parking space is easy to pull into off of that. It's well marked with reflectors for helpful night arrival navigation.

The 'Lair' itself, is a PRIVATE motel-type room (12'x14') within our home, totally privately sectioned off. You do NOT share any part of our home, inside or outside! :) There is a PRIVATE short hallway to a full bathroom (shower, not tub).

Outside the 'Lair'; a footwash at the bottom of the stairs to wash off sandy feet, and a secluded outdoor yard patio to enjoy the outdoors in shady comfort. On the other side of the entrance stairs is a private outdoor hot/cold water shower to enjoy--and ambient string lights, for even a starry evening shower!

'Lighthouse Lair' is situated within our home; privately sectioned off, and located at the far right side of the home.

After parking in the 'Lair' single vehicle designated parking space, you'll walk around a cute 'doll house' type shed and to the right, following the brick paver pathway. You'll see and go up 5 stairs to a covered landing.

The 'Lair' entrance has a storm door (full glass) and also sturdy front door with a digital lock, of which a code will be provided to you within 24 hours of your rental.

The main room and bathroom are TOTALLY PRIVATE. You do NOT have to enter through or share any part of our home, inside or outside. :)

During your stay
As the 'Lair' is part of our own private home, you may see us going to-and-fro; you're totally welcome to come over and chat with us--and for ANY reason. We love to share about our island, and want you to have an incredible experience while staying in our area--and with us!

If we see you, we'll certainly wave 'hello', but we'll respectfully leave you be...but again, feel free to walk over and chat/ask any questions!

You may see our super sweet semi-domestic tawny tigress cat 'Jolie' roaming our property; she may or may not interact with you...she's a cat, haha! :)

IF YOU HAVE AN INFANT or YOUNG CHILD, PLEASE MESSAGE US BEFORE BOOKING OUR SPACE! This way, together we can better assess if the 'Lair' is the right rental choice for you. Thank you in advance for your understanding and respect on important matter!

Also regarding safety for all...we do not provide a grill, nor allow grilling anywhere on our property. The outside area around the 'Lair' is small, and also with our breezes--simply poses too much of a fire hazard.

We provide bath towels/washcloths (2 for each person), bed linens, and pillows for our guests. And if you like---a complimentary 'cup of Joe' or tea (caf, or decaf; also herbal tea) for each person, for the length of your stay.

On that note...within a very short walk, we have 2 specialty coffee/pastry shops...3 ice cream shops...4 restaurants...ABC Store (hard alcohol sales)...Dollar General...mini-golf...quaint old-school 'IGA' family owned grocery store...souvenir shops. After that perhaps long drive to get here---leave the vehicle behind and leisurely stroll and explore our quaint beach downtown!

If you're a watersports enthusiast--our front yard is large and wide open, perfect for prepping for a day on the water! Our renowned East Coast surfable waves, and 'Canadian Hole'--known as the kite-boarding 'capital' on the east coast--just 5 or so minute's drive from the 'Lair'! Our area also is blessed to have some of the best surf fishing on the coast, too!

If your visit brings you to Hatteras Island for a wedding, we're just minutes away from the Inn on Pamlico Sound', beach weddings, or a ceremony at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse! Being located in Buxton, we are wonderfully equidistant from all towns where you're wedding might be.

If you have need to do laundry, 'Frisco Woods Campground'/Frisco NC (~15 minutues south of us on Hwy 12) has a laundromat that they also kindly make available for the public to use. 'Bob's Tackle' in Frisco, offers a laundry service for a fee, including offering same-day-service if needed.

If you prefer a swimming pool to our ocean, Frisco Woods Campground also has a public swimming pool...a day pass is $20 per person.

On a personal detail note; including the 'Lair', we run a few other small businesses out of our home. It's possible, as you come and go from the 'Lair', you may see one or both of us between about 10a and 4 or 5p... :)

We light-heartedly call Buxton the 'capital of Hatteras'; we're close to 'downtown'. While outside the 'Lair'--you'll thus hear some associated business and also residential sounds. These will dwindle as evening takes over....

Inside...our 1970 brick home means both well-built and insulated; that, along with an additional personal room A/C unit...6-setting 'sound environment' device...2 fans...upscale wide-slatted window blinds... room darkening curtains---we believe you'll sleep great!
