I wish there had been a few more simple amenities-sponge, salt & pepper, tin foil, etc. Our only complaint was we were notified that within an hour we had to get home to get our dog bcuz pest control was coming. So we had to cancel reservations for an excursion to get home without any prior notice. Also, the AC broke, so first we sweat & then we couldnt go anywhere so that they could come work on it for 2 days. Obviously, not their fault, but we lost vacation time & excursions bcuz of both & no one apologized or cared that we were put out."

- "Excellent place to stay for a summer vacation. Highly recommended." - "What a great vacation! This was the perfect place for my family to stay and the location is awesome! You have a great view of the ocean even though it isn't considered "oceanfront", and we could easily walk to the beach. The management explained that they had not been able to complete the remodel before our stay (due to delays with contractors, materials, etc.), but everything was still lovely. The dishwater is dated, and one of the racks was broken, but I believe this was on the list of things to replace. No matter, it still cleaned the dishes... and better than our new model at home. We made a few minor requests, and management addressed then within a matter of hours (water to outdoor shower turned on, a missing knob for one of the new lamps, a plug for the bathtub so my little one could take a bath). The pool and hot tub were even open, which I did not expect. My kids enjoyed being able to swim and didn't seem to care that the water was cold. Thanks for such great accommodations! We will absolutely be back!"

Build a beautiful resort village on a favorite Hatteras Island location, and they will come. The Cottages at the Cape are the closest rental units to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton. They share a long border with the national park and are literally steps from the beachfront. Bring the bikes, because Buxton’s unique shops, restaurants, and lighthouse are all very close. Forget the 4WD vehicle - those in the know have discovered that the three jetties to the east of the cottages produce some of the best fishing, surfing, and swimming on this island. Walking to the south will take you to open beaches, the famed Cape Point, and if luck is on your side during the summer, a few sea turtle nests (be careful to stay outside the barriers). The interior of this lovely home has been fully renovated and has all new furnishings, flooring, bedding, paint, and appliances, with comfortable and fun beach décor. You'll have access to an outside shower and a patio, and you can check out the Cape Hatteras lighthouse during your stay. An escape to the cape never looked so good as at Cottages at the Cape.
