- "Our group, which consisted of 8 adults and 1 toddler, had the best stay at the Dolphin Inn! We spent most of our time at the pool, which was clean and very well maintained, stocked with plenty of rafts, since our son still isn’t crazy about the ocean. The house itself was beautiful and very clean when we arrived. There was a minor maintenance issue the day we checked in, which we were informed about by Jorge and Susannah prior to arrival and it was taken care of promptly, which was appreciated. The location of the house was great as it was convenient to get to the beach (5 minute walk), drive to Duck for shopping/dinners (10 minutes), or Venture a little farther but only about 15 minutes to the H2OBX water park, which we all had a blast at. Each side of the duplex has 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, and a living/dining/kitchen area. A unique sliding wall allows for rental of both sides with a common dining area, (when the wall is open). Each kitchen is fully equipped. There is cable TV, DVD, and wifi, a private deck with grill and heavenly outside showers on each side. The Town of Southern Shores was founded on volunteerism and continues to be cared for by a strong team of members of the community. It is a community committed to preserving a safe, family friendly beach and sound area. Beach and sound access is limited to property owners and renters, so over-crowding is not an issue. Access to the beach from Sea Breezes Cottage is a short 100 yard walk. Although across the street from the beach access path, the cottage is in a strictly enforced 25 mph zone of Ocean Blvd, making crossing the street easy and safe. The North side of the cottage is identical to the South side unit except in bedding. On this side, there is one bedroom that has bunk beds plus an additional twin. The second bedroom has a king size bed. There is also a queen size sleep sofa in the living area.

Please note we do not have laundry machines at the cottage, so we do not provide linens. There are linen services in the area that can provide these if you do not want to pack them. We have implemented new cleaning procedures with emphasis on touch points, but all surfaces are being disinfected. We are following industry recommendations based on Center for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines for safe operation of a vacation rental property. Since we do not have laundry machines at the cottage, all blankets, bead spreads and throw pillows have been removed. In addition to the usual linens, (sheets and towels), you will also need to bring blankets/bedspreads with you. There are linen services in the area that can provide these if you do not want to pack them. We apologize for this inconvenience, but there is no other way to safely provide these items. We do have pillows with protective covers, but if you feel more safe with your own, add these to your packing list. Spray bottles with a 10:1 bleach solution is at the cottage for your use. (Commercial cleaning products are difficult to find)!

So here is a summary of what you can do to make your stay safe:
At check-in:
remove shoes before entering cottage (this is difficult as you unpack but if possible have one person unload the car and another person inside)
wipe high touch surfaces with disinfectant (we have done this, but industry recommendations suggest guests take the extra precaution)
If using bed pillows provided, be sure to use your own pillowcases
During your stay follow the three W's:
Wear a mask/cloth face covering when in public areas, (all businesses will require masks to enter)
Wait six feet apart
Wash your hands frequently for 20 seconds with soap and water or hand sanitizer
Be mindful of what you touch in public areas, (hand rails, gas pumps, grocery carts, etc.

For check in, the front door needs a good pull. Back door, wait to hear the click, then turn handle. Used outdoor shower all week. TV is a smart tv, so have your streaming logins with you. Couldn’t find traditional cable channels so we binged some series and were able to find some weather channels and news. Overall the place is great! Location was perfect. 3 miles south of Duck (covered bike paths great for biking, walking and running) and maybe a mile (not even) north of the 158/12 split off. Downstairs rec room with flat screen tv and wet bar and fridge is perfect for a teenager's getaway. A quick step outside takes you to our private pool/hot tub area with outside shower and fenced backyard. Open the garage door and set up a game of corn hole, steaks on the grill or take the bikes for a short ride to downtown Duck or straight to the oceanfront.

My sister and I recently purchased a true treasure in Southern Shores. Twins Inn, a spacious 7 bedroom, 6 bath, 2 half-bath home has it all! Make this your 2nd home for a week (or two) and you'll never want to leave. You will enjoy relaxing on one of several decks, swimming in your private pool and unwinding in the hot tub. The kids will love the play set. This beautiful house is close to an uncrowded beach on a quiet, dead end street. There is no road to cross to get to the ocean and you can walk to the beach in under 4 minutes.

Southern Shores is a great place for a family vacation. There are community sidewalks for biking, jogging or walking. Many shops and restaurants close by. Twins Inn, at over 4,400 square feet, is the perfect setting to make family memories. There is a huge fenced yard and the property is surrounded by trees. Adults will enjoy the climb up to the crow’s nest for horizon views of the ocean. There are two living areas to enjoy—a sunroom on the second level and a huge great room with vaulted ceiling on the third level.

- "The Twins Inn was perfect! Neta was a pleasure to work with and was super responsive and helpful throughout the process. The place is huge and easily accommodated our extended family of 8 adults and 7 children under the age of 6. Kitchen is fully stocked. Outdoor shed has plenty of beach chairs, umbrellas, pool toys, etc. The pool and hot tub kept everyone entertained when we weren’t at the beach. The beach is an extremely short walk away with an access point right at the end of the street. 5 out of 5 stars across the board. Excited for the next visit to twins inn!"

This lovely house has an open floor plan with the living, kitchen and dining rooms on the top floor and the bedrooms below boasting great views of the sunrise. Both 2nd & 3rd levels have decks and seating. Easy beach access across the street. There is a private pool in the back yard. The ability to climb stairs is needed to enter and access the entire home. The Live Oak Cottage is a beautiful guest suite situated under sprawling live oak trees. The studio suite and main house was originally a US Coast Guard Lifesaving Station built in 1901 - and moved to its current location in the 60s. The suite has been restored to bring it up to date with modern amenities, while retaining its rustic charm. A full kitchenette, with fridge, plug in cook top, gas grill + more. Sit back and relax on your private deck or walk to the beach in just 5 minutes. Note: this is a tiny house / studio - so it is one room with a king bed, kitchenette with stool seating and a separate full bathroom.

This guest cottage is located behind the main house, but detached so you have your own deck, entry, and privacy. There is a kitchenette, full bathroom with shower, king size bed and a flat screen TV. We have a toaster, Keurig, plug in induction cook top, and all needed cooking utensils, pot and pan. There is a private deck out back for you to relax under the sprawling live oak trees with outdoor shower rinse off, gas grill + seating area.

We do allow pets with prior approval. Pet fee is $95 per stay ( we allow only one pet). The pet fee is non negotiable, we have pets and want to keep our rentals pet friendly but even the best of pets have more wear and tear than you’d think. The property is situated on a quiet street but does back up to Duck rd. There is a privacy fence but you can hear the cars passing by. We still love the area and privacy this woodsy land provides. ***Outer Banks & Bugs - the outer banks has a variety of wildlife - and palmetto bugs / water bugs are one of them - especially after heavy rains and high humidity - we have all our rentals on monthly pest control treatment but we like to give guests a heads up as sometimes you will see them dead inside***

We loved being able to use the beach chairs provided and had we stayed longer, we would have likely utilized the grill. The outdoor shower & water hose made beach clean up for us and our dog quick & easy. The space was clean, well-stocked, practically designed and tastefully decorated. We loved the huge window (so did our dog) and ample privacy (even in someone's back yard!). Although you can't hear ocean waves (you can hear nearby cars from the bathroom and porch) the location was ideally close to Duck (5 minute drive) and a short quarter mile/5 minute walk to the beach. The beach access was lovely and desolate. I am sure the lack of people was likely because we were not there in peak season but the cottage is located on a street without public beach access parking which likely makes this section of the beach less busy even during peak season. There were plenty of close by dog-friendly spots and we loved the close proximity to the Duck boardwalk. We would for sure stay here again!"

- Our guests have a dedicated parking spot at the top of the driveway, in front of the porch swing.
- Note that a Ring floodlight/security camera is directed toward the driveway. A Ring doorbell camera is located at the main house's front door, which is not visible from the driveway or guesthouse. There are no other security devices located on the property.
- We provide a Southern Shores parking pass. It must be returned, otherwise a $75 replacement fee applies.
- Entry to the guesthouse and garage is via the keyless touchpad; we'll provide you with the code prior to your arrival.
- All beach-related items (chairs, umbrella, cooler, etc.) are in the garage.
- For the golfers out there, don't forget to ask us about special guest rates at Sea Scape Golf Links in Kitty Hawk.
- This is a non-smoking, pet-free guest house. An additional $150 cleaning fee will be charged to those that use smoke-masking deodorizer and/or perfume, or cologne.
- There will be no discounts if an insect is encountered. That said, you may see ants, spiders, water bugs, dragonflies, mosquitos, and bees, as well as lizards, birds (Southern Shores is a bird sanctuary), deer, possums, you name it. To ensure insects do not enter the guest house, we urge everyone to keep the guest house door closed at all times. In the evenings, keeping the porch lights turned off also helps.

This beautifully constructed and decorated guest house is on the second floor above a two-car garage. The house provides all the luxuries necessary for your lovely beach vacation in the outer banks of North Carolina. You will have a full kitchen (with a table that can seat up to six people), family room, private bedroom and a beautifully decorated bathroom with a jacuzzi tub.

The house features a queen sized bed, a pull out futon and a couch that will sleep up to 4 people. There is also a couch fora 5th person (recommend a child). A very welcome, different feel from the rows of beach rental homes 10 minutes away. This being a smaller place, it doesn't have washer and dryer access, but we knew this going in and didn't mind as our trip was only three days. Beach access is more involved. Duck doesn't have public beach access and parking is reserved on most roads for local residents. We simply drove 10 minutes south to get easy access to Kitty Hawk beaches. - "We had a great week at the beach! The house listing is accurate and in a perfect location. Being in Southern Shores gives you the opportunity to go toward Duck/ Corolla or the Nags Head direction. The beach entrance is right across the street. You’re so close, you can sometimes hear the waves. We had a great week! We didn’t have neighbors most of the week, but the walls are thin (which is mentioned in listing). You can hear people talking and doing things in the kitchen. It wasn’t too bad, but something I would have been more concerned about with a baby vs our dog making noise. Thankfully, we only had two nights with neighbors."
