Step back in time in our rustic log cabin. This unique cabin was hand built from reclaimed tobacco barn-wood. Beautifully nestled on 3.6 acre with over 500ft of bold creek frontage, this is truly a nature lover’s paradise.

The cabin features accommodations for six. The primary bedroom is on the first floor with a queen size bed and en-suite bathroom. The upstairs lofted area has two queen beds and a full bathroom. Downstairs is an open concept living area nestled around a beautiful stone hearth. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you might need.

Outside you will find two inviting porches both equipped with swings and rocking chairs. Our magical fire-pit is the perfect place to make new memories. We have created blazed trails throughout our acreage to explore everything this property has to offer. The true gem is of course the creek. Sit on our creekside deck and enjoy the beautiful sounds of the rapids.

Located in the heart of NC wine country our cabin is the perfect place to stay and explore everything Yadkin Valley has to offer. Shelton Vineyard is a mile from our cabin and offers wine tours, events and has an upscale restaurant on the grounds. Surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains there are four state parks within an hour of Lucky Lodge. Pilot Mountain and Stone Mountain are the closest both within 20 minutes. World famous fly fishing is also only minutes from the cabin door. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a short 25 minutes away where you can discover one of America’s most iconic byways. Historic Mt. Airy is only 20 minutes away where you can experience Mayberry and the nostalgia of yesteryear.

This is a rustic log cabin in the woods. Please be prepared to perhaps encounter wildlife, bugs, an occasional mouse and sometimes the smells of the surrounding farms. We can’t wait to welcome to Lucky Lodge.

Freshly remodeled farm house, just minutes from downtown Mayberry. This home was once a 60 acre farm, now it's 2 acres of land on a dead end street (plenty of parking even for bike trailers) which acts as a private driveway. Get your steps in walking our driveway while everyone is getting ready for the day.
Our neighbors are the cute cows in the field across the road.

This non smoking house has 2 bedrooms with freshly made beds, 1 bath, a large kitchen and a laundry room. There is a nice deck located off of the kitchen, smoking is permitted there. On the deck you will find a gas grill, table and chairs for dining and relaxing outside.
Linens and towels are provided, kitchen has all the pans, dishes and glasses you will need. We also have free WiFi and cable TV.

This house has been remodeled, but door openings are still about 28" to 30" wide.
Downtown has a great Main Street with dozens of gift shops, 2 coffee shops, bakeries and 6 restaurants. You can take a ride in the vintage squad cars at Wally's Service Station on South Main Street. Mount Airy also has a large granite quarry close to downtown.
If you love art, the murals that are painted on the sides of several buildings downtown, are a beautiful sight. Andy's new mural is on Moore Street.
We have several, amazing walking paths that wind along the river downtown. Bring your sneakers or a bicycle.
Pilot Mtn. Park is a 15 minute drive south on hwy 52. The views are amazing and there are several hiking trails. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a 15 minute drive north of us. We also have several wineries close by too.
The mountain tops can be seen from the house and the sunsets are usually beautiful.
The 10 minute drive to downtown is a straight shot down state road 89. It's the best of both worlds, country setting and close to town and shopping.

I have been a VRBO host for 15 years. I take cleaning very seriously.
Smoking is only allowed on the deck, no smoking indoors.

The driveway to the right of the house has shady parking. We do have a tenant in the back, basement unit and his parking is at the bottom of the left driveway in the carport. The driveway is wide enough for 2 cars to use.

- "Beautiful property, house had cute touches of home! Fully stocked for all our needs. We did some day trips, but there’s enough at the home to keep you busy if you didn’t want to go anywhere. The space
Cottage is decorated with period 1800-1850 antiques. The beds have been updated of course. So travel back in time and enjoy for a little while!

Relax on the back porch with a book, work on your laptop, or watch a movie on the second tv.

Sitting on the back patio you can view the cows grazing just past the barn and enjoy the fire pit just outside the back door. Beyond that is the river. Please note there are electric fences on the property and they do produce a mild shock. The gates are not electrified.
Guest access
Cottage is located approximately 250 yards from the river. We invite you to bring your all terrain vehicles, golf carts, or you are welcome to drive your vehicle or walk through the cow pasture (with the friendly cows and no bull) to the river.
Other things to note
The 5th bed is a 3/4 converted rope bed so it only sleeps one person comfortably. There are twin beds located in loft space.

Office space can be utilized on the enclosed back porch. There is a drop leaf table that can be pulled up for your convenience with a couple of different size chairs to choose.

We offer keyless entry. Please bring your own fishing gear. No pets please!

The cottage overlooks a gorgeous open field with a dynamic view of Skull Camp mountain. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the tools you will need to cook. The bathroom also has a rain shower and SAUNA which is amazing!! The dining room patio doors open to a large outdoor fire pit surrounded by cozy, wicker patio furniture. We keep it stocked with firewood and feel free to bring more or collect wood around the property! There are two bedrooms and a game room/sleeping area (basically a 3rd bedroom - where you can set up our framed Aerobed) for additional space.

If you enjoy wine, Serre Vineyards is located at the top of the property. Our tasting room is generally open Friday - Sunday 1-5p. Please check our website for hours of operation and check our calendar for special music events and food trucks. You are always welcome!

I love to host and have for many years. I enjoy providing amazing experiences for my guests.

Enjoy our local farming and winery community. A drive through Mt. Airy is just what you need to relax and get away from it all. We love driving through the rolling hills, waving at the cows and horses. A trip to downtown Mt. Airy or Elkin is a must. Both are wonderful little towns with delicious restaurants and a few bars. There are several wineries within 20-30 minutes as well. Ours of course! - Serre Vineyards!!, Round Peak, Shelton, Old North State (more of a restaurant downtown Mt. Airy), Jolo, and Jones von Drehle are all excellent!

You will need a car to get around.

This property is "away from it all" and with that cell service can be spotty depending on your provider, but we do have super-fast fiber internet for wi-fi calling and texting.

The driveway is not hard paved - it is gravel. Our Prius makes it through just fine, but you will need to go slow. Higher clearance vehicles have no issues.

The home is in an open field near a clearing in the woods. We are surrounded by trees and a river about 1000 feet away. We do exterminate, but we are in the middle of the county, so there may be a bug or two that sneaks into the house.

Along with your cottage, we have another suite at the top of the property near the tasting room. We also participate in a program called Harvest Hosts - which is a hosting service for RVs. We occasionally have some Harvest Host guests. You may meet them in the parking lot or upper fire pit. We are on 70 acres, but occasionally you may run into another party.

ANYTHING WET: please place into the shower (like towels etc.)
DISHES: to keep pests to a minimum, please wash any used
BEDS: please pull the blanket down on any bed used.
GARBAGE: Please, please, put everything into a garbage bag! Regular trash in white bags, recycling in black. Please empty both trash and recycling and place in the black garbage bin outside. We do not have trash service so our cleaning folks have to touch the garbage bags and take them to the dump By Hand. Please help us keep the gross factor to a minimum for them! THANKS!

DOORS: Please lock up all the doors on your way out.
AEROBEDS: Please return all Aerobeds to their original folded up location.

Getting to the cottage:
The entrance to Beast Trail is almost directly across from New Life Church. When pulling onto Beast Trail, stay on the gravel road. At the first fork, take a right, at the second, stay left and you will see the Green Gate straight ahead (you will also see a "private drive - cottage guests only" sign. The road is gravel and lower-profile cars will need to drive slowly on the hill. If your car is hitting the bottom, move over off the path onto the higher areas of stone and SLOW, slow down. Our very low Prius makes it if we go slow! Or, park and walk. Higher-profile cars will have no issues.

THE GREENHOUSE INFO

While we hate the word “rules”, we do ask that you adhere to some to make your stay here pleasant for you (and for us!) as well as our neighbors. This is our personal vacation cottage and home away from home. We know you will treat it with care and courtesy. We have stayed at many Airbnbs/VRBOs ourselves over the years and we love what this community has become. We love hosting and hope you have an incredible time in Mt. Airy! If there is anything we can do to improve or make your stay more pleasant, please do not hesitate to let us know!

DOGS: We love hosting all well-behaved dogs! We love seeing them turn back into real dogs enjoying nature! We do ask that if your dog is up on any beds, to please set out an extra sheet to keep dog hair off comforters. Thanks for your help with this!

Find extra sheets etc. for the Aerobeds in the dresser in the bunk bedroom closet & hope chest.

WATER:
The water is great and safe to enjoy, but it is on a well and septic - please conserve resources as it's an old system and we'd like to keep others enjoying the experience. Please place as little as possible paper waste in the toilet. Please place feminine products in the wastebasket. Thanks!

TV:
We do not have cable, but you can sign in to your Netflix, Amazon or I heart radio accounts to watch shows. Living Room TV: Power on the TV using the button on the top right of the remote - it has a little red circle. Once it comes on, press the Netflix or Amazon button located ON the remote. Then sign yourself in. If for some reason it doesn’t work, try pressing the INPUT button and make sure you are on the correct input. We also have tons of DVDs. Please enjoy!

We also have Apple TV connected to the living room TV. Once you use the main remote to power on the TV, use that same remote to press INPUT & choose Apple TV (sometimes it says BlueRay). Then use the Apple TV remote and press MENU until you get to the Apple Dashboard. You can sign yourself in from there. Roku is available in the Master bedroom. Power the TV on and use the remote to turn on Netflix etc..

SAUNA:
The breaker is turned off to the sauna in the summer. If you want to use it, please go flip the breaker in the basement. Please use caution when in the sauna. People can get hurt using Saunas. Use your good judgment (and a Google search) for info on children using a sauna. Many sources suggest children under 12 should not use one. Please read the info sheet in this book and please don’t sauna without letting someone know you are in the sauna.

CELL SERVICE:
Cell service can be spotty at the house depending on your provider, but we do have super-fast fiber internet for wifi calling and texting. You will also be able to get a decent signal if you drive up to the top of the driveway.

PROPERTY USE:
Although our cottage is situated on 70 acres, and it may seem a great place to hunt, gun use (whether for target, hunting or other purposes) is strictly forbidden. You will be asked to leave immediately if guns are heard or hunting of any type is observed. We have very aware neighbors! That said, do not be concerned if you hear gunshots. Our neighbor across the river likes to engage in target practice sometimes.

TOYS IN THE SHED:
Please do not try to get the toys (AKA the ATVs and GoKart) running. Nothing in the shed is for your use except for the firewood for use in the outdoor firepit.

TRAILS:
There are many old trails and hunting blinds on the property. Use caution around the blinds as most are very old and not used anymore. There are trails that stem off the old horse barn, down by the river and off the main driveway on your way in. When coming down the driveway from the main road, those trails would be on your right. The driveway is our property line until you get to the green gate and then it widens. Please find a basic map included in the welcome notebook.

RIVER:
The river is gorgeous and refreshing and we hope you use it! If you head to the left a ways, our neighbor across the river dug out a bit of a swimming hole for his grandkids. There is a chance you will see him.

- "The Good: Quiet and private. The drive up is beautiful. Everything is brand new. Hot tub perfect for 2 people. Indoor soaking tub is nice. 10-15 minute drive to Vineyards (Round Peak and Serre) and walking/biking trails (Fisher River Park) and grocery stores (in Dobson). The Bad: the directions to the residence are wrong (wrong address, wrong side of street). There was little information and pictures beforehand to know what to expect (coffee machine? What kind? Cooking utensils? Stove top? Etc). I didn’t receive any directions or wifi password or how to get into the community or residence until I emailed the owner on the day of our stay, and I didn’t get email back until after our check-in time. There were no napkins or paper towels in the residence. There is no dishwasher, and no directions about what to do with dirty dishes at checkout. The are no blinds or curtains on the large window in the bedroom, which would be fine because the place is so secluded, but there is a bright streetlamp right by the window, so it is very bright all night long. There was a regular coffee maker and a Keurig, but no coffee or tea. There are lots of fans and lights and some kind of plug-in mood rock device and some kind of plug-in rock sphere with water feature and other devices that have no explanation of what they do or how to use them. I never got the gas logs figured out. Also, there is still more landscaping to be done, but not a big deal. Overall, it can be a really special place to spend a weekend with a partner. It is a new place, so I expect some errors of omission at first. I would be happy to offer my thoughts to the owners, but they never asked for any feedback after our stay (we had to be one of the first couples to stay there, since their directions were incorrect and i had to unwrap some of the devices in the home to use them). I find this strange. Once they get some kinks figured out, I would have no complaints!"

Enjoy beautiful sunsets each night. Our suite has its own private entrance, complete with a large, luxurious spa-like bathroom including a 2-person soaking tub & open waterfall shower. Perfect spot to start your wine-tasting weekend!

The living space includes one large & plush sofa that opens into a full bed. We have also just added a queen Murphy Bed that pulls out from the wall. We have included soft & cozy mattress toppers & bedding to make your nights super comfortable. You will also find a small refrigerator + microwave combo along with everything you need to make coffee each morning. Please note, the suite is like a hotel room, there is no stovetop or oven. Cooking a full meal will be difficult. However, we do have wonderful take-out options available from Mayberry Takeout (www.mayberrytakeout.com).

While you will have all the privacy you need, the space is located near our new (2020) wine-tasting room (Serre Vineyards). You will have your own separate & private entrance away from the public. If you enjoy wine, the Tasting Room is open Saturdays 12-6p and Sunday 12-5p.

MAKING BEDS:
1. Depending on where the coffee tables are, you may need to move them out of your way.
2. Please find the containers labeled: Comforters, Sheets, Mattress Toppers in your room (sometimes laundry room).
3.For the sofa: push the back of the sofa forward a bit, and then backwards until is is flat
4.Apply mattress toppers first, then apply sheets, pillow & comforters
5. Feel free to set the beds up wherever you like. You may pull them together for a larger bed if you like.
6. We just added a new queen Murphy Bed! To use, please pull the bottom drawers all the way out first. Unhook the hooks located on either side. Allow the front to come down. Unfold it one more time toward the end of the bed so you have one large platform. Pull the mattress out like an accordion. The mattress cover is already on, you just need to add the sheets, blankets etc. Enjoy!

AC / HEATING: The suite uses a mini-split HVAC system. There are two registers, one in the bedroom and one in the bathroom. Both systems must be on Heat (sun icon) or Cool (snowflake) icon. If they are on different icons, the system will not run.

PARTY / NOISE: If you’re coming to Mt. Airy to party, you’ve picked a great city to do so. Unfortunately, just not at our place. Sure, we want you to have a great time and enjoy the property and have some fun, but nothing too crazy please! Though we’re sure it won’t come to it, serious complaints of unruly behavior will unfortunately result in you being asked to leave. Not good for you. Not good for us.

CHECK IN / CHECK OUT: Check-in is at 4pm, and check-out is by 11am.

DAMAGE: We understand that accidents and spills happen. But we do ask that you please let us know when they do. Chances are we can fix them or help you troubleshoot as a means of better chances of having your full security deposit returned too.

SMOKING: We have a strict no smoking policy inside the building (although you are welcome to smoke either out front or back) – please utilize the 2 black commercial ashtray stations located on either corner of the barn.

AC / HEATING: The suite uses a mini split HVAC system. There are two registers, one in the bedroom and one in the bathroom. Both systems must be on Heat (sun icon) or Cool (snowflake) icon. If they are on different icons, the system will not run.

NOISE: To be considerate to our neighbors, we kindly ask to keep things on the quieter-side after 11pm. We live in a remote area; however, noise does travel through the valley. We just like to be considerate to our neighbors.

SECURITY: Our neighborhood is very safe. We do not have a security system in the suite, but we do employ one in other parts of the building. You do not need to arm or un-arm anything.

OUTDOOR SEATING:
There are Adirondack chairs facing the view and several tables and chairs available for your use.
