It’s basically a 1-bedroom apartment with EVERYTHING already provided: wine glasses, beer mugs, coffee mugs, all kitchen utensils etc etc. no need to bring any silverware or anything they have it. The only thing that was inconvenient was there was very little toilet paper left on the holder and none to add to it so we had to buy our own toilet paper. I didn’t know who to contact to get that because there’s no one in the main castle area. Other than that it was a great place to stay and would recommend! We will definitely stay there again. "

The Studio is a truly unique and beautiful property, both inside and out. Located in the heart of the village within walking distance to all the harbor front attractions, The Studio is tucked away, shady and private. The multi level patio is nestled among live oaks and cedar trees. After a total renovation in 2022, the interior space features an updated look that is more spacious, more functional and more inviting than ever! The Studio is an adult only, pet free, smoke free space. Smoking is allowed outside.

This building was constructed in 1993 and used for 15 years as a working art studio. It is set back off the road, amidst giant live oak and cedar trees, and sits alongside my home, one of the islands designated historic houses. The two buildings are joined by an open breezeway behind the main gate, but when guests are in residence in the studio, we both have separate entrances on opposite sides of the property. The Studio provides all the comforts of home in a private, quiet and tree shaded setting, with lots of attention to detail. I have tried to make the Studio somewhere I would want to stay, well cared for with lots of personality.

You enter through a totally enclosed multi leveled courtyard space complete with artwork, jasmine, hot/cold out door shower and grill. There are chairs for lounging and a dining table for mealtime. Your parking is right outside the gate. Inside, the studio is colorful, unique and furnished for your complete comfort with one queen bed downstairs, a double bed in the upstairs loft space, sofa, flat screen TV, fully equipped kitchen and bath with tub and shower. There is a desk and office chair perfect for working while away! The Studio provides full linen service.

This is the perfect romantic and private getaway for two. The Studio is located within walking distance of the Coffee Company, Zillie's, the harbor front and all downtown shops and restaurants. We ask that you do not store or charge electric bikes on the property.

All Studio guests are strongly urged to buy cancellation insurance through VRBO. We are an island 30 miles off the coast. Things happen, to people and to the island. The ferry service to the island can be affected at any time in unpredictable ways restricting access to the island. And, we have hurricanes from June through October. Please protect yourselves.

Margaritaville is a delightful two bedroom/two bath house, located in a quiet neighborhood with outstanding views of Pamlico Sound and the phenomenal sunsets. You are able to access the sound through the property next door, where you can kayak, fish, rake clams or just relax on the beach. It was recently updated with a new kitchen installed in 2016 and all new windows, doors, siding and roof in 2015.

The deck and screened in porch were especially nice on the couple of good weather days we had; and the large living area and well equipped kitchen were fine on the rainy ones. We no longer have a dog, but if we did, the fenced area on the side was particularly well thought out, with both sand and grass areas, a water spigot right in the middle, and an enclosed place with a floor just underneath the house to get out of the sun or rain."

- "This house is big and plenty of lounging space. Loved the big comfy couch in the tv room. A large yard perfect for the dog. Plenty of privacy. We loved the screened in porch with comfortable Adirondack chairs. Great for evenings listening to the frogs. We could ride our bikes anywhere in the village quickly and easily. The house is quite “vertical” so would not recommend for anyone with mobility issues. However for our young family it was great. Extra tv room was helpful for the kids. The huge dining room table was a hit for eating and scooting everything over for board games. A few minor repairs are needed but we communicated that with the owners. Nothing aside from regular wear and tear of a rental. Beautiful house perfectly situated. We just had the best week with our family."

- "The property on Tutles Lane is exactly as pictured on the Home Away site down to the slightly disheveled cushions on the sectional couch. Property was clean and suited our family of four perfectly. Property is tucked away from any traffic so it’s quiet and peaceful. A very easy walk or bike ride to all the restaurants and shops. Definitely recommend rented bikes. There’s no view of water from the property but it’s within a short distance so not a problem. My husband and I took advantage of the outdoor shower since there’s only one full bath. This kept us on schedule. Kitchen could use a dish drain for any hand washing although there is a dishwasher. We did send a message to the rental company about the condition of the ceiling fan on the screened in porch and the need for the TV cable to be better mounted. Both were addressed while we were at the beach one morning. Overall, a good experience. Thank you!"

Our garage suite is two rooms with a beach & surfing theme. We have a detached garage and the suite is in back, separate from the house with its own entrance. There's a queen bed, tiki bar, and kitchenette. You'll be secluded with lots of cedars & bamboo around a private deck. Our place is in the heart of Ocracoke with restaurants & shops within walking or biking distance. The Ocracoke Lighthouse & Springers Point Nature Preserve are a 5-8 minute walk.

The space
The main room has a double bed & sitting area. The sitting area has a TV and Sofa. The second room has a kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. Sorry there is no stove or oven in the space. There is a Tiki Bar! Sorry, not stocked!
The walkway and deck to the suite has several steps up & down changing the elevation. Because of the steps, the property is not well suited to those with mobility issues.
There is a very friendly outside cat on the property.

Guest access
The back deck is for your exclusive use. Parking is limited on the property and there is one space dedicated to the guest suite. Sorry but there's no room for boat or utility trailers.

Wedged between cedar and live oak trees, the SurfShanty tiny home is the ultimate escape for active island explorers and those seeking a respite from reality alike. Down a sand path, just off Back Road, the Shanty is centrally located to all village destinations. Small in size, but not short on amenities the Shanty is well equipped with nearly everything you'll need to enjoy island life. Full kitchen, queen bedroom, private patio, wifi and more.

This is your perfect summer Ocracoke getaway - a mile from the beach and a mile from the bustle of the village in beautiful, quiet Jackson Dunes. A three-mile bike ride to the beach, this brand new home combines custom touches, an open floor plan, natural building materials, and the perfect screened in porch for day and night.

The space
This new house was completed in fall of 2017 and it is a sanctuary for rest, romance and fun. It’s a 1.5 mile drive or bike to the beach. Downstairs is a fabulous kitchen with stainless appliances that flows through to living and dining room, as well as a bathroom, smaller bedroom with a futon, and outdoor shower. Upstairs you'll find a soaring ceiling in the large master bedroom. Through the custom sliding barn door is the bathroom with huge soaking tub and specially tiled shower. Upstairs also has an office space that can be used as an additional bedroom; it has a pullout chair that converts to a single bed.

The house has high speed internet and a smart TV that you can use to stream from your laptop, tablet or phone. Sheets and towels provided. There's a grill and two beach chairs. There is a drip coffee maker and a French press.

FYI, because the house is mostly a lot of open space it works for singles, couples or families with 1-2 kids. This is a small house and the layout isn’t ideal for 4 adults.

Sometimes the house will be ready for check in before 4 pm. Please feel free to text on the day of your arrival and see if early check in is possible. In the high season (i.e., summer) it's less likely!

Quaint well furnished condo in the heart of the fishing village at Ocracoke Island NC. Just footsteps from food, dining and entertainment.

The space
The entry to the first floor crosses a gated front porch to keep Fido from running out if the door is left ajar. The porch has fabulous furniture great for coffee setting in the morning. The first floor contains kitchen, dining, and living area that is basically one big room. It’s great for entertaining a small crowd.

The second floor has two bedrooms, front and back. The front is a master suite with its own bath while the back is located just footsteps from a hall bath that also contains a washer and dryer.

Guest access
Guest have access to the entire unit except for a couple of locked owner closets. Guest also have access to the complex pool when it is open.

Note that AirBnB's bedroom/bed/sleeping capacity calculator will not calculate room and sleeping configuratons properly. This listing has a Queen Bed in the Master Suite, it has a Pyramid Bunk/Trundle in the second bedroom that is a TWIN XL on the bottom, a QUEEN, and a Twin XL Bunk overhead. The capacity of this unit is 4-6 people. I can't exceed 6 people for sleeping at any time due to fire code.

Other things to note
Ocracoke is only accessible by Ferry through the North Carolina Ferry Service, or by private boat or plane. Please research the NC Ferry Service and NCDOT’s Rt12 information sources on social media for up to date situations. Unfortunately there are no refunds or adjustments for Ferry Service interruption etc so please plan accordingly. It’s what makes Ocracoke so great.

In the event that storm related evacuations are issued please follow all recommended actions by local authorities. In the event of a Hurricane Evacuation you agree that the property is considered condemned 36 hours prior to the last ferry leaving Ocracoke and you are Voluntarily Evicted. In other words you can not stay through the storm evacuation specifically as part of your rental contract with us.

UPDATE for 2024. The unreliable basic cable TV service to the property has been replaced with 2 Steaming devices (Amazon Fire Sticks) and a smart TV with several Samsung loaded apps. Please bring your logins!

Nestled in a garden just off Back Road, the Island Cottage is walking distance from the best food, drink, and village attractions. The Island cottage is a brand new tiny house that replaced our very popular "Island Casita." The new home has two lofts: one with a queen bed and the other with two twins. The house can serve as a cozy romantic getaway for couples, or a fun stay for a family of four like ours!

Our home has a large great room, well stocked kitchen (pots, pans, utensils, etc.), and an expansive screened porch. We have three bedrooms (quee, king, double with twin bunk) and two full bathrooms (both with bath/shower combo and detachable shower sprayer for washing sandy feet). Smart TV in all bedrooms and living room Outside you will find a spacious, fenced in front yard, covered parking, and a screened in shower with hot and cold water (seasonal).

This home was built by my dad and is filled with family memories. We hope you love it as much as we do!

Guest access
We have off-street parking for two cars (one covered space) and room for a golf cart and bikes. Trailers, boats, and additional vehicles must be parked at the NPS lot near the harbor and visitor center. It’s free but you need a pass, they’re in a box on the visitor center door so you can pick one up after hours. The boat launch is free and there is free day-use docking in the harbor, right next to the ferries. You can pay for overnight docking. There are also several options for bike, golf cart, kayak, and boat rentals.

If you’ve never been to Ocracoke, please make sure you understand the ferry system and know a little bit about the island. There are three ferries - Swan Quarter, Cedar Island, and Hatteras. Hatteras is free and does not require a reservation, the others do. Check a map and the NCDOT Ferry Division website to figure out your best option and view the schedule. Cancelations and schedule changes are sometimes posted to Social media but I recommend calling ahead. COVID is significantly affecting the schedule.

Ocracoke is a small beach community. You won’t find chain restaurants, movie theaters, or much nightlife. You can enjoy local restaurants (upscale and casual), a few bars and brewery, delicious coffee, local shops, amazing nature, peace and quiet. For the necessities - The Variety Store, gas station, hardware store, and small health center. There is a liquor store. If there’s something you need, let me know. Please be aware that restaurants and shops may close in the off-season. Winter on Ocracoke is more about quiet time and nature.

Another thing to remember - the ferry doesn’t run in the middle of the night. This is a remote destination. Plan accordingly.

Our internet is *pretty good* but you’re on an island - sometimes it cuts out. Same with the cable. I have been consistently able to work from home using zoom and can almost always watch streaming TV. If the internet doesn’t work, my phone hotspot usually does.

This centrally located 1st floor 1 room Villa has a king & queen bed, full bath with tub/shower and vanity sink. Wireless internet, TV, table w/2 chairs, kitchenette with mini-frig, microwave, coffee maker and sink. Relax in the shared outdoor pool (open April thru October), shared sauna & shower. In addition, there is a shared screened area with observation deck on Silver Lake. Linens & towels are provided (but no beach/pool towels, so please pack and bring.) No smoking, no pets.

The space
This is a Villa condo unit located behind the Castle on Silver Lake. There are 2 beds. Max 4 people, including children. If extra room is needed, this is a lock-out unit to Juniper 2A (CV2B has a connecting door to Juniper 2A- which is a bedroom/1bath unit with full kitchen) which can be rented separately. Although we have CenturyLink internet installed at the unit, being on an island there are frequent outages.

Harbor II is centrally located across the street from Silver Lake Harbor, with both harbor and lighthouse views. This two bedroom, one bath open floor plan apartment is located on the second floor of a three-unit building which includes a potential business on the first floor.

Enjoy a large front porch that spans the entire width of the building, facing toward Silver Lake Harbor. A small second partially covered deck is located off the dining area. Spend relaxation time in the rocking chairs watching the world go by, or enjoy meals or refreshments on the outdoor dining table.

Two Bedrooms, 1 Bath: 1 with Queen, 1 with Pyramid Bed (double on bottom and twin on top). The bath has a shower stall.

RV is generous in size but for comfort we prefer only 4 in this space unless the additional guests are small children.

Perfect for a couple with up to 4 children or a maximum of 4 adults. Queen in bedroom is a true mattress and has a private door.
Bunks are full size with good mattresses, but would be most comfortable with only one adult or two small children each. There is a privacy curtain around bunks.

Living area has a full stocked kitchen, dining table, pullout sofa bed, TV table and Smart TV to login with your own streaming services.

Outside is a private porch with a tin roof, a custom outdoor shower, and adirondacks.

In the yard is a charcoal grill and picnic table, which is shared with another unit next door.

We no longer have bikes or beach chairs due to storage issues, but they can be leased just a few minutes walk from the space.

River City, an unofficial Naval term, is a communication blackout or restriction, where ships and units are temporarily disconnected from communication with the outside world. This is how we feel when we are finally able to enjoy "River" - we are able to complete disconnect with the outside world. The compact nature of the space allows to relax while we are in the apartment without getting caught up rambling around a large space. Ocracoke is meant to be enjoyed outside, not stuck in a house

The space
River is a lovely, compact apartment, located next to our cottage, "Pearl". While River is located in close proximity to Pearl, the side entrance gives it a secluded feel that keeps you nestled among the Cedar trees for rest and relaxation after a busy day out and about exploring the island and Ocracoke's pristine beaches.

River has a lovely back deck for you to enjoy during your stay and is perfect for the couple or solo traveler looking for a quiet spot to get away after a long day exploring.

***** We do not consider River to be Child friendly due to the open step upstairs. A child could easily fall though them and cause injury. There are no gates available, so please ensure you are making a good choice when you decide to book. Thank you !

Guests who stay in "River" have access to the back deck / entrance which includes a cute Teak Bistro table for 2 and an outdoor grill. There is one parking space for River and a plug in cord for a golf cart if you choose to rent one.

Other things to note
River City is part of our families 2nd home and not an investment rental. We love River City (a nautical term that we picked up with our 2 sons in the Navy) and hope that you will as well. Everything in the home is personal, nautical, and personally chosen for the space, especially the antique furniture from England and all of the real (normally from a ship) ships fixtures. We hope you will love and respect the space as much as we do.

This home has stood for many, many years on the island. With that being said, there are a few quirks to the space, such as the water lines, exciting cisterns (you see in the yard), and the septic system. It is imperative that you ONLY flush proper amounts of toilet paper down the system.

It is also important to note that since we do not employe a property management company, which saves you money, we are not always able to come to the property in person. We do have a handy man on the island and can be reached 24/7 in case of extreme emergency.

The Back House offers a pleasant walk or bike ride to Silver Lake Harbor, coffee shops, and restaurants. Featuring a reverse floor plan, The Back House provides a private setting located at the rear of a large property on Back Road.

Newly renovated with updated appliances and furniture, this well-equipped home is clean, spacious, and offers a perfect blend of Ocracoke Style and Surfer Chic, retro and modern, in one space. Set back from one of Ocracoke's main roads, the house has a lovely sense of privacy while being centrally located in the village. A single-level home, it is accessible for those who find stairs difficult to navigate. The windows throughout provide plenty of natural light during the day and thoughtful lighting features provide a softer ambiance after dark.

Several large cedar trees grace the property's large front yard, while local fig trees grow beside the picket fence. Rent in August to enjoy their sweet fruit! The picnic table in the front yard is great for outdoor meals and the hammock is perfect for a post-meal siesta!

The comfortable screened-in porch sits behind large Calla Lilies, offering a privacy from the main road. If Ms. Janet is on her back porch next door, be a dear and say hello! The shelving on the porch provides easy storage for outdoor beach and water items while an island must, the hot-water outdoor shower, is great for getting out of a wet suit or getting sand off people and pets before heading indoors.

The well-equipped kitchen features new appliances, including a 4-burner gas range and a fridge freezer. Plates, utensils, mugs, and glasses are provided in addition to some pots, pans, and quick appliances (such as an air fryer and rice maker/pressure cooker). The dishwasher keeps clean up easy.

Private bedrooms have multiple sleeping options and bed linens, bath towels, and beach towels are thoughtfully provided. A stacked washer/dryer and steamer (in master bedroom closet) keeps you looking sharp for nights out on the town.

* Sleeping Arrangements: The large master bedroom has a queen bed and plenty of room for a blow-up mattress (if extra space is needed). The smaller bedroom has two twin beds that can be set up separately or pushed together to create a king. There is also room for a twin-sized blow-up mattress of you need three small sleeping spaces. The couch is a sleeping option as well, as each section may be moved or adjusted to created a comfortable sleeping formation.

This property is a gem. The large front yard and screened-in porch offer great outdoor spaces. However, please do not go behind the gates on either side of the house. We don't think there are monsters back there...but you never know...and we don't want any guests to be the ones to find out!

Cozy two bedroom upstairs apartment located in the heart of the village. This apartment is located above Ride The Wind Surf Shop and overlooks the harbor. Close to everything, yet private. The space
Our apartment is a great couples get away. The living room has a sectional sofa and a great view of the harbor. A small two person balcony is perfect for your morning coffee. There's a dining room area with spacious seating for four. There's two bedrooms and each has a king bed and smart TV. There's only one bathroom but its set up jack and jill style with an additional door separating the two sinks.
Up a small open stairwell is the cupola and wet bar. Providing another great view of the harbor and the perfect spot for a quiet read or evening beverage.

The apartment is located above Ride The Wind Surf Shop in the heart of Ocracoke Village. There's shopping, restaurants and more just outside the door. All with a beautiful view of the harbor. There is water access to the harbor for kayak and paddleboards.

All of our rooms have a homey feel with a modern touch. Each has its own half bath, with the exception of Room 150, which is connected by private entrance to the main bath. There are two showers, one inside the main bathroom, and everyone’s favorite, the outdoor shower which is roomy and wonderful!

We have four bedrooms for rent. Only two (2) guests permitted per room. We will be open as a bed and breakfast all year.

Guest access
Aside from the bedroom, guests are welcome to use the living room, until 10pm. We have found that most of our guests are tired from enjoying the beach and bicycling around all day that most are going to bed fairly early so we try to make sure the house is quiet.

There are also two decks and a nice yard to utilize. Many of our guests enjoy a glass or two of wine on the deck before or after heading out to dinner.
