Cozy Cottages in Ocracoke, NC for Your Perfect Getaway

Cozy Cottage, perfect for couples or small families. Short walk away from the inlet and all the shops and restaurants surrounding. This is a 350 sq ft cottage. This beautiful bungalow is completed with a queen size bed, a pull out couch (full), a full bathroom, a large outside shower, tv, internet, kitchenette with large dorm sized refrigerator and freezer, small kitchen sink, and hot plate with pots and pans. Recently renovated because of Hurricane Dorian, we have also added an outside shower to a list of the amenities, and If you are looking to escape and enjoy the freedom from the hustle and bustle of day to day life, this is your perfect island paradise. Don't forget the dogs! Dogs are allowed for a small additional fee.
Please leave the cottage better than you found it! We do not provide linens, towels, or paper products. This is my personal cottage, so please respect it as if it were your grandmothers :). Check in is at 2pm, Check out is 11am. If you have any specific request don’t hesitate to ask, I promise you I’m a friendly fellow. There are golf carts available at the house one is dedicated for guest use. Information on how rent are in the house.

At "Little House by the Ferry" you can relax in hammocks and hear the ferry boats tooting their horns coming and going out of the harbor. Located near Silver Lake Harbor where all the restaurants and shops are located, you will find it easy to stroll or bike from this convenient location.

This charming 3 Bedroom (plus bonus bunk room) 1 Bath cottage has undergone a complete renovation and addition during the Spring of 2009. You will love the professionally decorated cottage decor. There are 2 hammocks for relaxing, a fenced-in dog yard, dishwasher and washer and dryer. While there is only one full bath, there is an exceptional outdoor shower with a star-filled sky above. You will never want to shower indoors again.

The large screened-in porch has vaulted ceilings and big views of open space which makes for a very private setting.

Bonus Items: We have bikes, sand chairs, beach umbrellas and boogie boards you are welcome to use. These items are not a part of the lease because we cannot guarantee they will all be in good working order at the time of your stay. It seems like there is always a bike or two out of commission at any given time.

Most of Ocracoke Island is owned by the National Park Service and there are no cottages located at the beach front. Little House by the Ferry is located in the village about a mile and a half from the beach. If you have a four wheel drive you can drive out on the beach. You can also drive or ride bikes to the life guarded beach and walk over the dunes to the beach.

Our cottage is now on city water which provides great water pressure and makes the our shower absolute heaven!

- "This was the perfect rental property for our family of 5 plus dog. It would actually be good for even bigger family as we had an empty bedroom. The owner has everything you need and makes packing easier. Boogie boards, skim boards, surf boards, chairs, cooler, outside bar area, outside shower, tools, washer dryer, kitchen utensils. Its a small kitchen but it was fine for us because we didn't do alot of cooking. We would definitely go back and rent here again."

This cottage has a wonderful front porch for enjoying sitting outside and relaxing. The view is of Teeters campground. It was renovated in 2018 and a second bedroom was added in 2019. It is a two bedroom (queen in the master and bunk beds in the other)we do NOT provide sheets, one bath, open floor plan with living room and kitchen. The kitchen is very basic, if you are planning to cook gourmet meals, this is NOT the place for you. Ocracoke has many wonderful restaurants. The location is within walking distance to Silver Lake and the shops and restaurants and is spitting distance from the British Cemetery. The beach is a mile from the rental. There is a Smart TV in the first bedroom and living room with internet and cable. You will need your own Netflix, Hulu or Amazon account, and for those that are not tech savvy, we have cable. We do NOT post on Craigslist, so if you see it there it is not us renting it. We only go through VRBO/Home Away.

We do not offer refunds for weather related cancellations, ferry issues or illness. We highly recommend that you purchase optional travel insurance. If you want to do early check in there is an additional $45 fee. It is extra added stress for our cleaners to have everything ready for those that get here on an early ferry. Normal check in time is 3:30 pm and check out time is 11:00. If you want to check out late it is a $100 fee.

Honeymooners love Zillies! 4WD Jeep Wrangler available for rent. Zillies Cottage is not your average rental. Decorated throughout with beach treasures from our travels and art work by our young nieces and nephews its a magical, love filled little cottage. You will be surrounded with more special memories than you will ever know. Zillies also has an amazing outdoor shower which all our guests love (check out the reviews). The shower is decorated with our special beach treasures we've found over the years from around the world . We call it "treasure from foreign lands". :-).

Clean and well maintained. It is a little small, but has everything you need to during your stay. Be advised the stairs both going into the property and up to the second floor are very steep. - "I have never been to Ocracoke before but my boyfriend had and wanted me to see it. We came for the week. This property was perfect for the 2 of us. Easy access to the beach and amazing restaurants!!" - "Great place for two!" - "We loved staying at the Treasure Chest! The house is perfect for a couple. The bed is super comfy. The air conditioning is great (we have stayed at some houses where the air seems to never get cool enough). There is a lot of foot traffic on this road but you don’t notice when you are in the house. Most of our inside time was spent on the porch overlooking the sound. I thought the laundry being at a different location would be an inconvenience but we made the best of it. It takes about an hour and a half to do two loads and we used that time to explore the area around the lake. The people at the Inn were super nice. We will definitely stay at the Treasure Chest again!!"

Pearl is a Hidden Gem in the Village. When you enter you will see the main house to the right. You will enter the Kitchen area of our home. The kitchen offers an open concept to the living and dining area so that as the "resident chef" you can feel included in all the conversation with your friends and family. As you will see the Kitchen has a center island for the sink and dishwasher.

The living space offers all new furniture such as the pull out sofa (Queen) with lovely, crisp cotton sheets. You will be able to enjoy Netflix on the new Roku TV, but, as always, why watch TV when you can be out enjoying the Ocracoke views !!

There are 2 bedrooms for you to choose from. The one on your left as you enter the hallway is a brand new Beauty Rest Double bed with a lovely antique Pine dresser. The ceiling fan and mini-split heat pump will ensure that you or your guest sleep well at their own temperature.

The bedroom to the right, the Master, features a new Beauty Rest Queen bed, with cooling mattress cover. Also noted in the room for your sleeping comfort is a ceiling fan and your own mini-split heat pump as well. The 2 antique old English Pine dressers are here for you to place. your belongings in so that it feels just like home !

The center hall bathroom has just experienced a "from the sand up" renovation, all the while saving as much of the original structure as we could. We know that you will love the original Bead Board ceilings and new Ship Lap walls !! What are our 2 favorite features in the bathroom??? The deep Cast Iron soaking tub and the electric wall heater !! We know this will give you hours of enjoyment as you rest after a busy day exploring the wild beaches of Ocracoke !!

And the porch !!!! What an absolute delight you will experience with the large sofa and swing !! The wide expanse of the porch is perfect for early morning coffee and late night chats with those you have allowed to come with you on this adventure.

Our personal favorite is the outdoor shower --- After enjoying an outdoor shower you will have a hard time going inside to shower. With overhead coverage in case of rain or chilly weather, the full door gives your most modest guest to enjoy the experience. One thing to be mindful of with the pipes in this historic home, someone might get chilly if both showers and dish washer are running at the same time.

All of the yard space are yours to enjoy ! The fenced in yard is perfect for any gathering, including your pet. We do ask that all pet waste is removed from the yard as no one wants to put a toe into anything left behind!

- "My family and I had a wonderful time celebrating the July 4th holiday at this cute home. We've been coming to the island for over 30 years and always love our time spent on Ocracoke PROS: The cul-de-sac location is nice & convenient to everything with a wonderful backyard view of the lighthouse. The bedrooms are smaller sized, but the house is well appointed so it lives larger & having the extra 1/2 bath was great w/4 occupants. This home was VERY CLEAN & also not too cluttered with "stuff". There were plenty of bath towels & a washing machine/dryer which are a must have for beach life w/kids. We closed the curtains on the front of the house during the high 90 degree days to help keep the heat out when we weren't there, but the air conditioner worked fabulously so the house was always cool & comfortable. There is an outdoor shower on the back deck & a spigot with hose near the driveway which were both convenient & (again) mandatory for beach life. There's a screened porch, a charcoal grill, & a bike rack too CONS: the worst things I can say are... Regarding the house, there aren't any fans to move the air around or for white noise, but we had our own so it wasn't a problem for us. Regarding the island in general (if you don't already know),, the mosquitoes are thick around sunrise/sunset so make sure you don't get caught outside without bug spray during those times **This was our first time staying in this home, we enjoyed it and would definitely stay here again 😊"

The screened in porch is amazing and very relaxing in the evenings after a long hot day. Great place to drink your morning coffee as well! Communication with the host was very prompt and they were quick to answer any questions I had. We thought the outside plug for our golf cart was not working. Called the host and they were out there within 15 minutes to fix it. It ended up not being the outdoor plug at all. It was our golf cart plug. This inviting space features an open-plan living room seamlessly connected to a modern kitchen. The queen bedroom, accessible through a sliding barn door, boasts a sense of privacy. A well-appointed bathroom is conveniently accessible from both the bedroom and the living area through another sliding barn door.

Step outside to a generously sized screened porch, perfect for enjoying summer evenings or indulging in quiet lunches in the shade. An outdoor soaking tub adds a touch of luxury to the experience. The lower deck extends the outdoor living space and is equipped with a gas grill. Additionally, a large outdoor shower with pastel-colored accent panels offers a refreshing and private space to cool down after a day at the beach.

The interior is adorned with top-quality furnishings and fittings, creating an atmosphere of luxury. The well-equipped kitchen features stainless steel appliances, including a 4-burner gas range and a fridge freezer. Granite countertops add a touch of sparkle and understated class to the cottage.

Bed linens and bath towels are thoughtfully provided, although beach towels are not included.

This is a small beach cottage located on one of the canals in the Oyster Creek area of Ocracoke. There's a kitchen and living area and two bedrooms and full bathroom with tub on the first floor. The second floor is an open loft area with no door and is the third sleeping area. There is a bathroom with shower on the second floor. The best part of the house is the large screen porch over looking the canal. There are kayaks on site for you to use and water access.

The space
This is the seasonal staff house for our surf shop and houses our team from May thru August. Its offered for rent only in the spring and fall. It's a beach style cottage with an eclectic mix of furniture. Its basic, but located on one of the access canals to the Pamlico Sound. A perfect home base for groups of fishermen, paddlers, or birdwatchers. Lots of steps and walkways on the property. Access to the entrance is a full flight of steps, so if you are even slightly mobility impaired don't consider this property.

The house has two bedrooms downstairs and a large open loft upstairs. Since this is set up for our seasonal employees, the two bedrooms downstairs have twin beds and the loft upstairs has two full size and two twin beds.

The main living area and each of the bedrooms and sleeping areas have Mini-Split AC/Heat.

The house has a large screen porch that overlooks the canal in back. From there you can launch kayaks and paddle boards that are already on the property.

There is parking for 4 normal size vehicles. There is not room for a boat trailer on the property.

Zillies also has an amazing outdoor shower which all our guests love (check out the reviews). The shower is decorated with our special beach treasures we've found over the years. * Lovely, extended driveway to allow for maximum privacy. When you enter you will see the main house to the right and an apartment and "apartment" to your left. (In 2026 we will be opening up the shop apartment as additional rental if you have a larger party. It will have an additional capacity of 4).

*Living Room: New (made in North Carolina) furniture such as the pull out sofa (Queen) with lovely new crisp cotton sheets. You will be able to enjoy Netflix on the new Roku TV, but, as always, why watch TV when you can be out enjoying Ocracoke and our famous beaches!!

*Bedrooms: Double room to the left as you enter the hallway. The ceiling fan and mini-split heat pump will ensure that you or your guest sleep well at their own temperature. If you enjoy morning sunlight (we have blinds of course) this is your room !!

Queen: The bedroom to the right, the Master, features a new Beauty Rest Queen bed, with cooling mattress cover. Also noted in the room for your sleeping comfort is a ceiling fan and your own mini-split heat pump as well. This room is located more under the mature trees, so if you are a late sleeper, this is your room of choice !!

The center hall bathroom has just experienced a "from the sand up" renovation, all the while saving as much of the original structure as we could. We know that you will love the original Bead Board ceilings and new Ship Lap walls !! What are our 2 favorite features in the bathroom??? The deep Cast Iron soaking tub and the electric wall heater !! We know this will give you hours of enjoyment as you rest after a busy day exploring the wild beaches of Ocracoke !!

*Screened in Porch: The wide expanse of the porch is perfect for early morning coffee and late night chats with those you have allowed to come with you on this adventure. What makes this more perfect?? Plug in the overhead twinkle lights for the perfect evening setting. If the weather is agreeable, naps and overnight sleeps are perfect on the porch sofa (my personal favorite).

*Outdoor shower --- After enjoying an outdoor shower you will have a hard time going inside to shower. With overhead coverage in case of rain or chilly weather, the 3/4 door gives your most modest guest to enjoy the experience.

*One thing to be mindful of with the pipes in this historic home, someone might get chilly if both showers and dish washer are running at the same time.

*Expansive Yard: All our yard space are yours to enjoy ! The fenced in yard is perfect for any gathering, including your pet. We do ask that all pet waste is removed from the yard as no one wants to put a toe into anything left behind!

Our space is one of the most secluded and largest lots in the village due to the privacy fences. There are 2 very large side yards that are completely yours to enjoy. Also located on the property is an apartment that we occasionally rent out or use as our own spot to stay when on the island. Pearl guests have access to all of the yard area, outdoor shower, and washer/drier in the shop.

Other things to note
The Grey Pearl is our families 2nd home and not an investment rental. We love Pearl and hope that you will as well. Everything in the home is personal, especially the antique furniture from England. We hope you will love and respect the space as much as we do.

This home has stood for many, many years on the island. With that being said, there are a few quirks to the space, such as the water lines, exciting cisterns (you see in the yard), and the septic system. It is imperative that you ONLY flush proper amounts of toilet paper down the system.

It is also important to note that since we do not employe a property management company, which saves you money, we are not always able to come to the property in person. We do have a handy man on the island and can be reached 24/7 in case of extreme emergency.
