Adults only, (all guests must be 21 or older). Two guests max!!! Also, I get a lot of requests for small pets. Due to safety and health concerns, I cannot accommodate any pets at all. That includes service or support animals. No 3rd party bookings. The person booking, must be the person staying and the person that's name is on the account. The cottage is to the rear left of my property behind the main house where I reside. If you look at the aerial photo, you can see the proximity the cottage is to the house. It's about a 25 foot distance. It is very private though but for purposes of full disclosure, some outdoor spaces are visible from my ring cameras. For instance, my ring camera at my back door can pick up who enters the back yard and cottage but does not pick up images from inside the cottage or the private back patio to the cottage. I also have a ring camera on my front door that can see the driveway. That being said, you’re going to love the privacy and the location of this quaint cottage, tucked away smack dab between Wrightsville and Carolina Beach in the popular Masonboro section of Wilmington. For those unfamiliar with Wilmington, this area is not only very desired, but also very safe! The driveway is not paved and the path to the cottage is also unpaved but has concrete stepping stones that lead you to the cottage door. The middle space in the parking area is the designated space for the cottage. There is only one parking space designated for the cottage. If you have a friend or family member stop by for a visit, they will need to park in the street in front of my house. If you are interested in booking the cottage, please note: No parties or events. No smoking or vaping of anything inside cottage or patio room. No pets of any kind including service animals. Not suitable for children. Guests must be twenty one and older. Two guest max. Please do not remove any artwork from walls, including the nude woman pencil drawing in the bathroom. If the artwork in my home offends anyone, it is best they don't book a stay at the cottage.

This 465sf Cozy Cottage comes with all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. Amenities also include washer and dryer, the full kitchen minus a dishwasher, Keurig for coffee, tea, pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc... A small brick private patio off the back of the cottage has a table and two chairs, a lion fountain, and roses and flowers seasonally. Other outdoor spaces include the fire pit and the patio room. The fire pit and patio room are shared spaces but your back patio is all for you. Please note that there is no smoking or vaping of anything inside the patio room. All vaping and smoking must be done outside. The cottage has an open floor plan design with a queen size bed. There is also a small drop leaf table (that gets much larger), and two chairs that can be used for eating, a work space, or for playing board games on a rainy day. The large flat screen tv is a roku smart tv with streaming capability. Use the Spectrum App provided to access basic channels or use your own apps like Netflix, Prime, Hulu, HBO, etc... Hidden treasure is an island style beach cottage situated amongst beautiful old oak trees. The house is located on a quite lane about a block long that has the ocean at one end and the sound at the other. Though we are on an interior lot, it is just steps (approximately 80 yards) to either the private beach access or to the small ramp that you have access to the sound from. The cottage itself was fully renovated in 2008-- the interior was gutted and the entire space was redone. It has an open floor plan for the living and kitchen area and all areas look out to the trees. A screened porch and a rear deck can both be accessed from the main living area. A deck lines one side of the house that leads from the screened porch to the covered front porch. Sitting on the screened porch is like being in a tree house-- branches arch gracefully all around you providing a pathway for squirrels and birds to bound from one to another. You can hear the ocean most days from this spot-- it is relaxation at its best. The cottage is about 900 square feet but feels larger because of the open floor plan and raised ceiling height in the living room. The floors are tile through out-- which is easy to clean. The two bedrooms provide sleeping for four-- one has a queen bed the other has a full size. Again it is hard to describe how wonderful it feels waking up to the sound of birds and the ocean and seeing the tree branches surrounding you. Totally relaxing!! Hidden Treasure is perfect for a family getaway, a couples retreat, or girls week away.

The outdoor shower was perfect for rinsing off after spending time in the sun & sand and not tracking sand upstairs. We were sure to bring some essentials so we didn’t need to buy them once there: laundry soap, dishwasher tabs, paper towels, a few rolls of TP- it was the perfect amount. The outdoor/screened in porch was so relaxing for coffee in the morning and a great mid-day nap…. Always a choir of cicadas to sing you to sleep! All in all- great, cozy, very clean, lovely. We would go back! We originally planned to bring our lab pup (1yr)but did not end up bringing her. Julie has a lot of pretty decor around that she prob would have knocked over with her wagging tail 😂 perfect for mature dogs!"

Welcome to The Tree House! Need a break from all of the hustle and bustle? If so, The TreeHouse is awaiting your arrival! Walk to Beach, Pier, Restaurants, Bars and Grocery. Park your car and do not get back in until you are ready to return home! This cozy 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath abode located in Wrightsville Beach is ready for you to enjoy! This street level, smoke-free cottage is great for someone who does not like to climb up and down steps. The master has a king bed with a flat screen TV. The second bedroom has a queen bed with a flat screen TV. The living room has a pull out sofa with a large flat screen TV. This beautiful cottage sleeps 4 comfortably but, can sleep up to 6 (extra fee) with pull out couch. Also, check out our other property at VRBO#1260330- it sleeps up to 6 and would be perfect if you have another family visiting with you.

Spacious living and dining areas. Indoor breakfast table seats 6. Bar in the kitchen area has seating for four and there is a beautiful outdoor 48x20 deck that has a hand- built table that seats 12 and a gas grill for entertaining. Enjoy a shower in one of the two outdoor showers that are provided for you when you return from the beach. The backyard is surrounded by a 6 foot privacy fence and has been newly landscaped- it truly is an oasis. It is great for families who have children as they can play in the backyard while the parents are relaxing on the deck.

The front patio has seating for 6 and sits under one of the biggest oak trees on the island that helps to keep you nice and cool. Or, sit in one of the two rockers and enjoy your coffee in the morning. Also, hanging from the tree is a nice wooden swing. This front yard is perfect if you like to sit and people watch while everyone is coming and going from the beach.

Rates are better than any hotel on the island plus you get the luxury of having separate bedrooms and your own spacious, well appointed kitchen and outdoor space!

Home is on the island and is .2 miles to the beach (walk in less than 5 minutes) and .1 mile to Banks Channel (walk in less than 2 minutes). The beach access point is access 18 on E. Henderson Street.

We always like our guests to know that this is a duplex. Our family will do our best to make the place as wonderful as we can for you! The common outdoor area is shared space between the upstairs and downstairs unit.

We have another unit upstairs that sleeps 6 max as well, it is a bit more expensive, but, this is an option if you have a large amount of people as you could sleep 12 people. Please email for more information. It has 2 bedrooms with 2 king beds and 2 full bathrooms with a pull out leather sleeper sofa full kitchen, as well.

The Silvery Moon: 1940s Beach Cottage – Steps away from the ocean!

Welcome to The Silvery Moon – a renovated 1940s beach cottage, with all the charms of the 1940s and the amenities of 2025! We are a dog friendly property and allow up to two well-behaved dogs. The backyard is fenced in for them too! We provide crates (two 36"; two 24", and one 42" located in the carport storage closet), dog bowls, towels, and a shammy towel for when your pup goes for a swim!

The cottage sleeps 6 and has 2 large bedrooms with huge closets and 2 completely renovated bathrooms. The open floor plan offers a large fully stocked kitchen with tons of cabinets, and a family room that spills into the enclosed porch. With lots of windows, there are several with ocean views! The beds, mattresses, L-shaped couch and chairs are all new. The cottage has been renovated and decorated to feel like you are back in the 1940s, with shiplap throughout and framed art with forties flare!

The primary bedroom has a king-size bed and private bathroom, plus two large closets. The second bedroom also has a king-size bed and large closet. Both bedrooms have dressers, bamboo hard-wood floors and mounted 42” TVs. The main living area has a full bathroom, including a tub, a large fully-stocked kitchen area, a big island with 3 chairs, a large couch and chair, and a 58” TV. The enclosed porch has a queen-size pull-out couch, a privacy screen, several chairs and a reading nook that overlooks the ocean.

Enjoy the expansive deck while you BBQ with family and friends. The outdoor table lets you enjoy your food and drink while you enjoy the sea breezes! The cottage comes with 6 beach chairs, a BBQ, pillows, sheets, towels, including beach towels, has an outdoor shower, and parking for 4 cars.

Once you park your car, you can leave it there, as the cottage sits on a one-way street that is more like a pedestrian walkway and convenient to almost anything in town! It's an easy walk to the Carolina Beach boardwalk to the North, and the Ocean Grill & Tiki Bar to the South. Other attractions within walking distance are Carolina Beach Lake, the Greenway, Veggie Wagon, Britts Donuts, restaurants, and bars, including locals’ and tourists’ favorite, the Fat Pelican, voted one of the top 25 dive bars in the country!

If you've never been to Carolina Beach before, you're in for a treat! We're a wonderful family friendly beach town with pizza shops, ice cream shops, seafood restaurants, and three grocery stores. You'll never have to (or want to) leave the island. During the summer there are free outdoor concerts and movies, a weekly Farmers Market, and Thursday night fireworks- all within walking distance. Stroll the boardwalk, head down to the Kure Beach pier, visit the NC Aquarium or take in some local Civil War history at Fort Fisher. You can find new things to do every day or, of course, just relax on the beach and soak up the sun. You'll be glad you came to Carolina Beach and will want to come back year after year.

On-street parking right in front and across from an old brick church made the mornings neighbor friendly. The property was secure and well-lit. The cottage is a single-story ADU behind a fully remodeled American Foursquare home originally built in 1897.

The cottage has its own entrance, kitchen and bath, with a nice size living room. The sleeping room is just off the living room and features a queen bed with a plush pillowtop mattress. There also is a desk in a corner of the living room for those who may need to work remotely. Fast internet is powered by AT&T fiber, with speed up to 1 GB per second. Independent testing by AirBnB verified upload and download speeds were 450+ GB per second.

Off-street parking is available, but on-street parking is rarely an issue, since St. Luke's Church takes up the block across the street. Off-street parking is shared between guests in the main house and guests in the cottage.

The serene backyard is large for a downtown home and is shaded by towering oaks throughout most of the day

Robert Strange Park, the largest park in downtown Wilmington, is a half-block away, with a public swimming pool, one baseball and 2 softball fields, basketball courts, in addition to 6 tennis/pickleball courts. Public swimming pool, operated by YMCA, is just two blocks away. Admission is just $1 kids, $3 adults, open only in the summer season.

The owners were fantastic and quickly responded via text or VRBO. We were within 20 minutes or less of several beaches, and downtown. My only complaint was that the storage facility across the street from the home was loud and mild fumes could sometimes be smelled when outdoors. It smelled like oil and propane on the hot days. It wasnt overpowering though, so not enough to decrease the overall rating. We overall had a great time! "

As you walk into this completely remodeled 1950's cottage, you will be welcomed by original hardwood floors, vaulted beam ceilings and sun light filled rooms. The large open living room has plenty of comfortable seating and a 42" tv for watching your favorite sports, movies or streaming channels. Free high speed internet is available for working, school or catching up on social media. A small book library provides great beach reads or a rainy day activity. There are two bedrooms, both with queen sized beds and brand new covered mattresses and pillows. Spacious closets with luggage racks will hold your clothing and items from home. The kitchen has open shelving above, all new appliances, a coffee and tea station and a beautiful corner banquette seating area for meals. A dishwasher, garbage disposal and full size refrigerator make cooking and cleaning up a breeze. There is a coffee bean grinder, french press and regular coffee maker, along with a tea kettle for the stove. The bathroom has a rain shower head and new tile and fixtures throughout. For your convenience, a full size stackable washer and drier is located off the living area for washing swimsuits and clothes. Outside, there is a three quarter wrap around deck and an outdoor shower with hot and cold water. There is a seating area on the back deck with a gas grill and spectacular views of the sound and the bridge. On the front deck, a private bistro seating area with jasmine growing over the pergola and outdoor lights is ideal for morning coffee or night time drinks and conversation. The cottage is one block away from an adorable little public beach access and the beach is only 121 steps from the front door! It is perfectly located off the traffic circle in Surf City, so you can walk to all the local shops, restaurants, Soundside Park and the pier! Bicycle rental is right across the street, with shopping and restaurants surrounding the area.
Private parking for two cars is directly behind the cottage with only three stairs up to the deck make unloading and loading vehicles easy. Trips with older family and friends will be convenient with the single story cottage and the few steps up. Your beach days will be relaxing with beach chairs and a beach canopy that are provided for our guests use. This cottage is perfect for a couple's getaway, girls' trip or a small family vacation to make beach memories!

- Are looking for quartz countertops, heated bathroom floors, a gourmet chef's kitchen and do not like older homes.

- Are "professional guests" that try to find loopholes in the system and ask for refunds, or bring 5 friends to crash on the couch and floor.

- Are difficult people that don't read this listing description, don't watch the video links we send after you make your reservation, and are never satisfied, not laid back and find the slightest blemish or light bulb that burns out ruins their day.

Seriously, DO NOT rent this cottage if you're a high maintenance guest because we don't want the headaches.

What You Get When You Rent:
Captain's Cottage is a freshly renovated, friendly, cozy, relaxed, light filled small home that offers a brand new 3 person hot tub, outdoor shower, private back yard nestled under a canopy of old live oaks, Roku ready TV's, fast WiFi, 1 full bedroom w/ queen bed and 1 pull out single sofa bed in an extra room, full bath, all new appliances featuring a stack unit washer/dryer, range, fridge, microwave and cooking and dining utensils.

We've put a lot of sweat equity into this little cottage to bring it back to life from years of neglect and we hope you'll love it too! When we first saw the cottage several years ago we looked beyond the state it was in at the time and knew it had great character and would make an ideal getaway. While Captain's Cottage is small it's got great bones and coastal inspired touches that we hope our guests enjoy as much as we've enjoyed bringing this little gem back to life!

History of Captain's Cottage

Located in historic Sunset Park in beautiful Wilmington, North Carolina, the cottage started its life in the early 1940's as a single room fishing shack that was constructed on the north end of Carolina Beach, about 20 minutes away. Years later the house was moved to its current location and a small addition and bathroom were added making the house a grand total of 700 sq ft (tiny house living at it's best!). Eventually the house became home to WM Register, a tug boat captain that worked his days on the Cape Fear River, and his wife, Gladys. After WM and Gladys moved out the house was sold and used as a rental property that fell into serious neglect and disrepair for many years.

The cottage is one of the last remaining old coastal cottages in southeastern NC built for working class families like the Registers and although it was in terrible shape when we bought it we could see what it could be.

When we purchased the cottage the interior had a flooring mix of tile, carpet and various hardwoods, neon paint throughout, cracks in the drywall and holes in the ceilings. The cottage had settled so much that the back left corner in the kitchen was sitting on the ground. Since the house was sitting mostly on the ground most of the windows barely opened and doors were crooked. To fix the issue the entire house was lifted 14 inches with 2 twenty ton air jacks so new joists and piers could be placed under the house. As the house was raised the original iron bathtub fell through the floor so the bathroom had to be removed and a new floor installed along with plumbing and new shower/tub. After almost 6 months of stripping this property back to the studs we finished the complete renovation with new plumbing and electrical systems, new roof, new flooring, new drywall throughout, new interior doors and brand new appliances.

Although the house has been renovated inside the yard and gardens continue under renovation and are always a work in progress to bring them back to how Gladys kept them when she lived here while adding various coastal plant and tree updates. Gladys kept an immaculate yard and her garden beds were full of azaleas, perennial flowers, specimen trees and shrubs native to the area. Over the years the yard became overgrown with vines, poison ivy, sand spurs and invasive trees. To date, we've eradicated the poison ivy and removed much of the underbrush and cleaned up overgrown trees to bring back the live oaks and save some native plantings. Returning a neglected landscape to a healthy state takes time and planning so we're still in the process of working on the gardens and yard to return it to the original layout that Gladys left so many years ago. There's a very large oak tree in the side yard that houses our resident owl, Ollie. If you're lucky you may catch a glimpse of Ollie going and coming out of the hole in the side of the tree.

You'll find this is a terrific location in Wilmington's oldest neighborhood that's seeing a lot of revitalization on every street. Capt.'s Cottage is a great spot to base out of if you're in town to attend a concert, visit the area beaches, visit family, for work or just to come enjoy all that Wilmington has to offer. With plenty of parking, this property offers fisherman and outdoors folks a great option to park your boats and store your outdoor gear.

- We take extra care to disinfect frequently touched surfaces and clean all linens between reservations. We ask that all guest adhere to the check-in (anytime after 2 PM) and check-out (by 11 AM) schedules to give us plenty of time to make sure the property has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.

- If guests decide to leave early the nights not spent are not refunded for any reason.

- We DO NOT ALLOW PETS. While we love dogs and cats and have several of our own, we simply can not allow pets inside this property due to previous guests pet's causing damage and other guests having pet allergies. Unfortunately, if we find you have brought a pet you will be asked to leave, your deposit will be forfeited and you will be charged an extra cleaning fee.

- Capt.'s Cottage is 100% smoke free. DO NOT SMOKE ANYTHING INSIDE. This includes vaping, pot, cigarettes, and anything you light on fire. We've had an increase in the number of guests that think it's ok to smoke pot inside and it's NOT COOL, so please don't smoke weed inside the house. If you absolutely have to smoke weed, wether it's medicinal or recreational, please go outside and away from the house so the smell doesn't get inside. Located approximately 1 mile from historic Downtown, where you can visit restaurants, breweries, boutiques, & the river walk. This home is about a 10 minute drive to Wrightsville Beach & is walking distance to Wallace Park, Port City Java, and the Cargo District. This cozy cottage has all of the amenities you need & features an enclosed outdoor shower, a recently updated kitchen & newly added half bath!

That includes service or support animals. I live on the property in the main house. Cottage is behind house. No 3rd party booking allowed. The person checking in must be the person that booked and the person that's name is on the account. If you are interested in booking the cottage. No smoking/vaping of anything inside cottage.

The space
The cottage is behind the house to the rear left of the property. I live in the main house. There is a lot of art in the cottage including a pencil drawing of a nude woman, that hangs above the toilet in the bathroom. Guests do not have permission to remove any art from walls. If a guest is offended by nudity in artwork, I suggest they do not book a stay at the cottage. Having said that, the cottage has a lot to offer. This 465 sf Cozy Cottage comes with all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. Amenities include a full kitchen (minus a dishwasher) and washer/dryer free of charge. The cottage is located to the left rear of the property, behind the main house. A small brick private patio off the back of the cottage has a table and two chairs, a lion fountain, and roses and flowers seasonally. The cottage has an open floor plan design with a queen size bed. There is also a small table and two chairs that can be used for eating, a work space, or for playing board games on a rainy day. The cottage is not a shared space and is delegated for guest use only. There is also a private patio in the rear of the cottage, that is exclusive to the guest. The shared spaces are the fire pit and screened in patio room on the other side of the fire pit. No smoking or vaping inside any spaces including screened patio room. All smoking and vaping is to be done outside.

Bright/cheerful cottage 8 miles from Wrightsville Beach and 4 miles from downtown Wilmington and UNCW. This small cottage offers 750 square feet of comfort and convenience in a quiet tree-lined neighborhood. Private driveway provides off street parking. The interior offers private bedrooms, kitchen, and washer/dryer. The cottage is attached to the owners' house by an open breezeway-no shared walls. Even though the owners live on site full time, you can still have your own secluded get away.

Perfect for a family of four or two couples. If you want a quiet and very comfortable place to escape to - this is it. The cottage has its own driveway and private access. There are no shared walls with the owner’s main house. It offers 9 foot ceilings and includes two bedrooms (1 queen, 2 standard twins; each bedroom offers USB chargers), full bath, fully stocked kitchen, and comfortable living room. The newly renovated kitchen includes full size refrigerator, oven/stove, microwave and Keurig coffee pot. There is not a dishwasher or ice machine.

This property only holds the cottage and the owner’s main house. You will have your own private space and parking. The owners park in front of the main house and on the opposite side of the backyard. Guests are not allowed in the back yard, there is ample green space at the front of the cottage. Owners can provide extra outdoor chairs, if needed. This cottage is centrally located and has quick and easy access to shopping, downtown Wilmington, UNCW, and the Beach.
