In April 1915, Engine Company 2 began operation at 5th and Castle Streets. Their new station housed six men, two horses, and a two-horse hose wagon. Designed by local architect James F. Gause, Jr the Italianate structure also housed a bell relocated from the corner of 4th and Dock Streets. The bell sounded alarms until the last fire horse was retired in 1918. In 1956, Engine 2 relocated to the new Headquarters Station on Dock Street. Downstairs is our beautiful Station No. 2 venue. No events are held while you are staying upstairs in the Firehouse Suite.

We lived in this cute historic home for over a year and loved it! If you're looking for new and perfect, this is not it. It is a cool old house in a neat location. In the morning, you can walk to breakfast at Jesters Cafe and take a peaceful stroll at night to the riverfront or historic downtown with restaurants and bars. Private second floor duplex

The outside of the house reminds us of our visits to New Orleans, and so we decorated this space in honor of The Garden District. You'll receive access codes for the front door and your door. After you walk through the front door, your next entrance is on the second floor.

This is a 2nd floor duplex in a huge old 1920s Victorian style house. We decided to decorate it like A Garden! We hope you love it!

Downtown Wilmington is quiet and comfortable. There is a neighborhood around the corner that has a ton of antique stores and a coffee shop. Or, walk toward downtown and check out the neighbors houses which are stunning. You'll love love love the walk.

You can walk anywhere or take a free trolly that goes around downtown. It doesn't go down 5th street but once you get closer to Front Street, you might spot it.

Street parking is available nearby.

The house is a duplex and you have the entire second floor. Sometimes there are renters on the first floor. They are also air bnb'ers! It is a place to chill and relax. We include coffee, a few lite options for breakfast and basic essentials available for you when you arrive!

This charming 1800’s Victorian duplex underwent an extensive renovation that was completed in summer of 2023. It retains its historic charm with original wooden doors, a bedroom fireplace (now decorative only), and its location on a quiet cobblestone street. However, it was thoughtfully modernized with new plumbing, electric, flooring, appliances, and light fixtures and is decorated in a timeless style with a nod to its heritage but in no way retro.

This upstairs 2 bedroom 1 bath duplex has lots of windows and natural light. It also includes access to the front porch that has a swing and additional seating and a deck with furniture that is perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee or a meal. The living room has comfortable seating and a large Roku smart TV. One bedroom has a queen bed, TV, and a view of the cobblestone street. The second smaller bedroom has a twin size bunk bed and smart TV. The eat-in kitchen with seating for 4 is outfitted with all new appliances, including a gas stove, dish washer, and washer/dryer laundry center. It includes cookware, dishes, and kitchen basics and includes a coffee bar, bottled water, and some snacks. The bathroom has a tile shower with a glass door.

This duplex is just a stone’s throw to downtown Wilmington, so you can walk to downtown and enjoy the historic north end of downtown. Off street parking is included (small and mid sized cars only as the driveway is narrow) and there is always plenty of street parking for larger vehicles, vehicles pulling a trailer, or additional vehicles. Only a 30 minute drive to the beaches!

The space
This is more like a townhome than an apartment. It is one story with a front and back door. There are only 3 units in the entire (small) building. The back door opens out to a deck and an enclosed courtyard. The entire apt is yours. Pets that are up to date on vaccines and on a flea preventive are considered and most often welcomed.
The bedroom has TV as well as the living room. The living flows into the kitchendining area.
The walk in shower is spacious and gorgeous tile. Lots of natural light in and urban loft feel. 2 flat screen TV's with all Roku and Netflix has to offer plus local channels. High speed internet, too.

Guest access
Only the outdoor space is shared. Pets are considered and must be up to date on vaccines and on a flea preventive. There is an additional $25 pet fee per pet.

Great walking neighborhood.

Other things to note
if you are coming to town to work for an extended stay this place is ideal. All you need are your clothes and maybe your best friend. Well behaved pets are welcome.
We have hosted Film crew, Producers, Travel Nurses, Professionals on long term job assignments and locals transitioning from one home to another as well as vacationers. It is well suited for longer stays.

If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or party boat out for a sunset sail. Camping more your thing? Bring the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island.

You can also head down to Kure Beach and fish directly off their fishing pier complete with bait, tackles, and more! The Carolina Beach Lake is nearby, hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday and FIREWORKS every Thursday. We welcome you to sit back, relax and enjoy yourselves because that's exactly what the beach is for!

These suites are a mixture of the original “period” construction and old-world charm, a kiss of shabby-chic modernity, and today’s technology because hey, there’s got to be something for everyone! Each suite has its own distinct traits, quirks, and characteristics. Above all else, it should feel like your “home away from home” while vacationing with us on our Island!

The entry to this 0 bedroom, 1 bath suite opens into a family room combined with an open dining area and a basic cookery station that is comprised of a combination of a microwave, coffee maker, and hotplate or toaster oven. A general variety of plates, bowls, cups, silverware, etc. are also provided. Courtesy organic soap and shampoo are left in the bathroom of each suite as well as a (1) starter roll of TP, a (1) garbage bag, dish soap, and a sponge in each kitchen.

The unit's ONE QUEEN AND ONE FULL bed consists of either a plush luxury mattress or a new encased 8” memory foam/cooling gel composition mattress because we want all of our guests to be comfortable when it comes time to recharge.

There is one smart TV in each suite to utilize one's personal subscriptions (such as Netflix or Hulu) along with a WIFI computer connection for when it's time to sit back and enjoy some movies or shows after a long day at the beach! Bring a Fire Stick, Apple TV, Laptop w/ HDMI cable or another such casting device if looking to ensure all the tech comforts from home are available during your stay!

We equip each suite with its own combination of books, games, and misc. accessories to help cover the basis for our guests to enjoy themselves in rain or shine. Sometimes however, these items are removed from the suite and not replaced, and we do not always realize it (tsk tsk!). If you notice something we’ve bragged about missing please let us know!

The outdoor shower is located on the lower left of the building to help get that sand off of those toes!

The SUITE: Guests have full access to their own private SUITE (never shared) along with a portion of a respective deck, patio, or balcony.

PARKING: Each reservation will have access to (1) ONE 8'x14' assigned parking space in the main lot off of Lake Park blvd S. Guests driving "oversized vehicles" (from SUVs to pickups) may have issues fitting comfortably.

•Closest BEACH access: Lake Public Beach Access (Lake Drive).

•The Town of Carolina Beach offers multiple public parking options to visitors and residents on a FIRST COME-FIRST SERVE basis. Town-operated parking is open year round and paid parking is enforced March 1st - October 31st from 9AM - 8PM. Parking fees restart each morning during enforcement hours for all of the Town's parking lots and on-street parking spaces.

GOLF CARTS

•To the county, golf carts are considered automobiles. Generally speaking, golf carts are NOT allowed on premises of ANY condo, condotel, or apartment. The same goes for trailers, motorcycles, etc. For SFR’s or properties supporting multiple vehicles, carts should be OK. However, be conscious that few homes have external outlets WITHOUT GFCI’S (which are code by today’s standards). Charging a cart on a GFCI will immediately trip the breaker, resulting in the inability to charge a cart amongst other repercussions. Gas carts will generally be the ideal rental option if in a home whose parking supports such.

•ALL suites are non-smoking (including vaping) and a heavy cleaning/repair charge can result if not adhered to. This includes porches, decks, balconies, and walkways. Please smoke well away from any SWRE property unless willing to risk the potential loss of deposit or more.

• SWRE contractual quiet hours begin at 9:00pm EST. Town ordinance may allow more latitude with regards to noise (11:00pm) but our expectations are to help ensure all guests, locals, and neighbors alike have an enjoyable experience.

•NO BBQing on ANY decks or porches. This is a huge fire hazard and is fineable by the town (as is removing batteries from any smoke or co2 alarms). We work extremely hard to keep all our guests safe, and sometimes that takes teamwork!

•Please always consider TRAVEL INSURANCE from your respective booking site or vendor to help protect your costs in case of inclement weather or last-minute travel complications (court, illness, etc.). These items are NOT refundable scenarios unless the property itself is compromised. If that does happen, we will do our absolute best to find you alternative housing.

Pet friendly with a fenced-in backyard! The Snipes-Taylor House is blocks from downtown Wilmington, the Brooklyn Arts District, and the Soda Pop District. This 1st floor unit in a historic home has been lovingly updated. Includes 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, spacious common areas, gas log fireplace, private porch, off-street parking, washer/dryer. Perfect for families and business travel. Host lives upstairs, so we request respect for our neighbors after 10 pm.

The Snipes-Taylor House is a historic home, with some of the original touches that make historic homes so unique--hardwood floors, wavy glass, built-in cabinetry, and fireplaces! Our home has been updated, but we love the character it gets from its 100+ years of residents.

The back porch is private and exclusively for use of guests. The front porch and yards are shared space with the other unit--but they are plenty big enough to do your own thing!

Other things to note
Our home is a historic property in an urban neighborhood. As such, we can't guarantee that it will be quiet all the time, although our neighbors are very considerate! This listing is for the first floor in the duplex, and our family lives upstairs, so you will likely hear us moving around upstairs at times! We promise no wild parties! ;)

Our home is over 100 years old, so it is under constant maintenance. We love the unique character of a historic home, and while it's been updated, if you're looking for something that looks brand spanking new, we aren't that!

Wilmington is very hot and dry during the summer, and our plantings and yard will reflect that if you visit us during the summer months! As much as we'd love to have a lush lawn all year, it's not a possibility while also being conscientious of our water usage during times of drought. You're still welcome to use the yard all year, but it just might be crispier during those hot months!

The space
The house was built in 1903, and played many distinctive parts on the history of Old Wilmington. For many years it was a private single family residence, in 50s it was a private college “ Miller Motte” , and inn70 in was decided in several apartments.

The last owner , the host, Natalie Caine lives here for over 25 years and dedicated her creative mind to build the Victorian beauty of the house back in it full bloom. She remodelled couple apartments to Airbnb setting and successfully hosting them from 2020.

Guests will have a private, secure , and quiet apt with private entrance . There is a cozy bedroom with walking closet. This bedroom equipment with light blocking curtains, and very realistic fire place. ( CD).
The living room has big screen TV, leather coda with fluffy pillows, ceiling fan , several table lights and bench for extra sits.

It is very important to follow the house rules and all precautions the host requests to minimise the COVID-19 spreading.

The our historic landmark house was built in 1889. It has 7000 sq feet space and divides in several fully equipped apartments. Some of them we set up as Airbnb.
It was completely renovated last year with the help of European master carpenter.
We try to give every space an individual historic boost and keep it a little whimsical..
We also have couple tenants and a host, Natasha Caine , lives here, in the same house.
The house has unique setting and it gives an illusion that you are only guest in entire place. Some of separate entrances, multiple levels, windows facing in different detections do it well..
Our guest are coming back home relaxed, happy , and fully recharged their inner energy “batteries “.
