The beach is a 15 minute walk away, or a very short bike ride (provided) or drive if you register your vehicle for parking. We are on the peaceful Davis Canal with a dock where you can spend time drinking coffee or cocktails, reading, fishing, kayaking, boating and enjoying sunrises/sunsets. Enjoy the beautiful, shared in ground pool and hot tub area. We are a quick, easy walk or bike ride to the beach.

It is a private studio apartment with a private entrance, a queen bed, private bathroom with tile shower and towel warmer, and a blue tooth fan for enjoying music. The living area has a comfortable, reclining couch. There is no kitchen, but there is a microwave, fridge, coffee pot with pods and coffee. Dishes, silverware, and wine glasses are provided. Enjoy the shared pool area with hot tub and the shared dock area. The grill is available for you to use. Bikes, chairs , kayaks and backpack cooler are by elevator for use.

Avoid parking fees at the beach and have your own designated spot outside this quite and quaint apartment. It is a the ground floor of our home with a private entrance and keyless entry. Just a five minute walk to the beach and around the corner from pickle ball and tennis courts as well as splash pad. On Monday monings there is farmers market on the soccer field around the corner as well as Friday night free concerts when in season May thru September. Eateries within walking distance. Southport is a short distance away for extra things to do on a rainy day. We have spas in the neighborhood too for some extra pampering. Surf Fishing and crabbing just a short walk away. We also can accomadate a boat. Kayaking tours are also available and they are lots of fun. A ghost walk in Southport when the weather cools a bit is always a scarey treat. If you are a shopper we have lots to do in that area too,

- "This little apartment was upstairs in a building on the back of the main house property in a nice older neighborhood. We very much enjoyed the feel of the neighborhood. The place is super cute and was equipped by owners with multiple amenities (those that I usually pack and take myself!) It is very quiet; no noise or dog barking. Parking right in front. Owners very friendly and accommodating. For only 1-3 people; this is an ideal place. And it walks straight down to the beach. Pier is close as well as restaurants and shops. Restaurants do not take reservations; for Memorial weekend it was imperative to go early or go and get your name on the list and do something else while you wait. Food was very good at every place we tried."

We are located one mile from the beach. There are many things to do on the island such as restaurants, shops, ice cream and coffee shops, many miles of beach to walk and explore. The apartment is located on the bottom part of our beach house. Private entrance is included. The indoor bathroom does not include a shower but there is an outside shower that feels wonderful, is enclosed, both hot and cold water.
The cove includes a living room area with a TV, kitchen with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and toaster oven. All utensils, plates, etc. are included.
The bedroom is spacious with a dresser and a double bed and air conditioning. Very private and quiet.
The bathroom includes a sink and toilet, as mentioned the outside shower is great and is the ultimate in the beach experience.

We are just 15 minute drive from historic Southport, where "Safe Haven" and other films were based.

There are multiple ocean-front restaurants on the island, and plenty to do, including golf, putt-putt & arcade, skydiving, and more. Go shopping or drop your boat in for a day of fishing at one of the boat launches on the island.

Walking or biking is a great way to get fresh air and a little exercise at the same time. There are lots of restaurants, stores and shopping within a 5-8 minute walk. If you want to explore a little further, driving works well, or call a taxi or an Uber on the island.

- "People that owed the home or whomever was staying upstairs ran off friends that came to see us when they tried to park. Sand was all over the floor when we entered and had to vacuum." - "Spam messages nonstop since booking, but no relevant check-in info. We were told keypad access = instructions, key access = office visit. However, no message about lock type received. Check-in readiness message arrived 34min late. After waiting 15min for entry info, we called the office and were told to pick up a key. Luckily, we arrived just before closing. Unsettlingly close. Inside, we found what appeared to be blood on the door, broken blinds in dinette & restroom, and an unsecured, non-functioning window AC. We had to secure our belongings in the car each time we left due to the unsafe AC situation. To top it off, we were visited by COCKROACHES every night. The bedroom carpet felt sandy, and the bed was incredibly uncomfortable—loud crunching noises and stiffness. As if that weren't enough, we were also woken up by an alarm clock at 6am. Furthermore, we had to bag up all bedding and towels for housekeeping. Clearly, this unit's low rating is justified. Surprisingly, the price increased since booking. Save yourself the trouble and heed the reviews. We didn't, and it ruined our experience."

The space has recently been upgraded (2020) with granite countertops in the kitchen and both bathrooms, LVP flooring, new cabinets, and bedding. It features a full kitchen including dishwasher, microwave, coffeemaker, and separate laundry room with a washer/dryer. The master bedroom has a king bed and beautiful en suite bathroom. The second bedroom has a queen bed and the third bedroom has two bunk beds each with a twin mattress on top and full mattress on the bottom. All bedrooms are equipped with TV's. The living room features spectacular views of the ocean, a TV with cable, DVD player, and Netflix. For those who may need to bring the office with you on vacation, we have a convenient folding desk and chair to utilize. High speed internet WIFI is included. To make your stay as stress-free and easy as possible we have included most condiments you would need including coffee and tea.

We know you want to relax without any stops at the store when you get to the island. Beach chairs, beach umbrellas, boogie boards, kids beach toys, and a beach cart are all provided for your use. For extra enjoyment we have a selection of movies, books, and games available. We are very kid friendly and have a large collection of toys, coloring books and crayons, and items to baby proof for those tiny ones. Paradox Place is a self-contained 400 sq ft apartment with a nice den featuring a sleeper sofa, recliner, 60" HD TV with streaming channels, and a kitchenette with sink, microwave, refrigerator, air fryer, induction cooktop with saucepan, and complimentary coffee. While the small space is not suitable for extensive cooking, the microwave, induction cooktop and air fryer can be used for preparing small meals or snacks. An outdoor George Foreman electric grill is also available upon request.

The bedroom features a comfy queen bed with a TV and plenty of drawer space. A full bath with tub/shower, including hand-held shower head, is well appointed and welcoming. It is best suited for a couple. But kids are welcomed and can enjoy the memory-foam sofa sleeper.

The outside shower is great for rinsing off after a day at the beach. And bring your devices to enjoy with our 500Mb WiFi. Paradox Place is located in a quiet neighborhood overlooking the Intra-Coastal Waterway. The beach is a half-mile away. You can hear the waves from the property, but there is a marsh between Paradox Place and the sand, so it is a 4-5 minute drive to cross a bridge over the marsh to the beach.

You will enjoy a completely self-contained guest area. The apartment is at ground level with a separate entrance, while the hosts' home is on pilings above it.

Other things to note
Paradox Place is 400 sq ft, with the living room and bedroom each being about 10 X 14 and a bathroom in between. It's perfect for a couple. But up to two children can sleep on the sofa bed. It is not recommended for more than two adults or additional older children.

Located in beautiful Oak Island, NC, this cozy, dog-friendly studio apartment encompasses the entire bottom floor of a pilings house. It has a separate entrance and all the amenities you'll need to unwind after a day at the beach. It is a 10-15 minute walk or a 1-2 minute drive to the closest beach access. Great for couples or singles, small families, Senior friendly (ground level). One dog allowed, no cats. No smoking/vaping allowed on the property. All are welcome.

The space
This 500 sq foot studio apartment has two adjoining rooms with a queen-sized bed, a full-sized sofa bed, and a kitchenette (no stove/oven). The kitchenette is appointed with dishes and flatware, microwave, toaster oven, Kuerig coffee maker, electric kettle, full-sized refrigerator, and electric skillet. The sink is in the laundry room. The sunny back yard has Adirondak chairs, a propane fire table, a picnic table, and a gas grill for guests to use. We provide beach chairs and beach towels plus all of the linens needed for a comfortable stay (sheets, towels, blankets, etc). There is WIFI, smart TV (on a cart that swivels - log in to streaming of your choice), books, games and puzzles for any rainy days. Our taller guests will want to be mindful of the ceiling fan and shower door height. There is a public fishing dock at the end of the street - great for fishing (with permit) or taking in a beautiful sunset.

Guest access
Guests have the entire ground floor of the house which includes the apartment living area, laundry room, bathroom, screened in front porch and back yard (partially fenced) to themselves. The owners live upstairs part-time and have two dogs that may visit the back yard at times. Owners may ask to use laundry on occasion but will get permission from guests in advance.

Guests will be provided a unique door code prior to arrival along with check-in instructions.

Other things to note
This is a mellow house on a quiet street so we appreciate guests not having parties and honoring quiet hours from 10pm-8am. Smoking/vaping is not allowed on the property (must go out to the street to smoke or vape).

Dog Guidelines - Due to the size of the space, we have a one dog limit (will consider two smaller dogs - please ask prior to booking). All dogs must be up to date on vaccinations and flea/tick prevention. If you allow your pet on the furniture, we ask that you cover the furniture with blankets or sheets (we provide some, but feel free to bring your own). Dogs must be on a leash outside when anywhere other than the back yard. Please note the back yard is only fenced in on 3 sides. Dogs may be off leash on the beach from October 15 through March 15. All dog waste must be bagged and put in the large trash can.

A note about bugs and the beach: Although we hope you do not see any, you may encounter Palmetto bugs or other insects during your stay. Palmetto bugs are a type of cockroach native to the area that are a normal part of life for those who live in warm, tropical climates. To keep them out of the house, we have the property professionally sprayed monthly. While this drastically reduces the chance of you seeing a Palmetto bug in the apartment, the chance of you seeing one is not zero. Please do not take this as a sign that the house is dirty or infested—it is minor and unavoidable tradeoff for living near our beautiful beaches.

Living area is open to kitchen and entry with a separate back door leading to your own private fenced patio. Bathroom is off the bedroom, just inside the door. It's private but guests should know it is in the bedroom area.

Upon arrival please park on the gravel parking pad to left of paved driveway. Park in the space to the left nearest the front of the of the property. There's room for one vehicle. Upstairs tenants use the other 2 parking spaces. Follow starfish stepping stones past owners stairs. Apartment is on lower level and apartment door is immediately behind stairs. Keys are in the lockbox on post to the right of the door. There is a second set of keys inside the unit on small countertop.
Keys work both front and back doors.

This is the top floor of a duplex. Owners live on bottom floor. Located two blocks from scenic walkover and a 15-20 minute walk to beach(currently is under going construction and is not available for use), just four blocks from waterway park. Many onsite extras such as grill, beach chairs, games. There are two bedrooms and there is a pull out sofa bed couch. Bedroom one has a queen and bedroom 2 has a bunk bed with twin on top and full on bottom is a futon and can convert into a full size bed.

The kitchen is fully stocked with cookware. Coffe maker, expresso maker. Laundry detergent and house hold cleaners are stocked as well. Bathtub is large soaking tub(no jets). tvs in both bedrooms and living room. All linens included.
