Pick up and read one of the books on the North Carolina coast.

In the spotless kitchen, you will find updated lighting and a ceramic tiled floor. The cupboards are packed full of dishes, cookware, small appliances, and glasses. As we love to cook you will find everything is provided for you to cook delicious vacation meals. Alternatively, a list of my favorite restaurants and menus are provided if you decide to not cook during your stay.

Open the sliding glass doors and walk into the pleasing screened porch. It's the perfect place to sip your morning coffee, enjoy an evening drink or read a book curled up on a chair on a rainy day, listening to the storm outside. The porch offers views of the sand garden and planted flowering beds with handmade ceramic sculptures. On the concrete patio, you will find a dining table to enjoy meals al fresco. An outdoor shower fed from the garden hose is available for a quick rinse of the ocean water.

Back inside walk down the hallway where the laundry room sits behind folding doors. The primary bedroom is light and airy with contemporary design furniture. The queen-size bed is comfortable and ensures a restful night's sleep, dreaming of waves and sand. Off the primary bedroom is the ensuite bath; it is well lit, clean, and fresh. Two simple twin beds are in the second bedroom with wall-mounted reading lights overhead. A modern maple dresser and mirror complete the room. The second bathroom is simple and clean with a tiled floor. All linens are provided for your stay including two sets of bath towels for each guest. Cleaning supplies are also provided for your use.

Now it's time to head to the real star of the island, the beach. It's a short distance by bike or car with over 60 public beach access points. No matter the time of the year your time spent at the beach will be memorable.

When you approach the home, you will appreciate the 'curb' appeal as the beautiful landscaping welcome you!

When you enter, you will be embraced with hard woods throughout the home (over 125 years old!) and a warm but coastal and fun feel interior. The kitchen/dining as you enter, living room to your left (ocean side). Past the living room, you'll enter the Master Bedroom which has a lovely en suite bathroom.
Off of the kitchen, the 2nd Bedroom and Full Bathroom will be found with it's own theme you will enjoy! The living room couch pulls out into a Queen Sofa Bed for a 3rd couple/child(ren)/single, etc. We provide all linens and towels for your ease and comfort, along with the essentials to get you started!

The oceanside of the house will amaze you as it is purely sliding glass (hurricane proof!) doors - you have a view of the ocean from basically anywhere in the home! Curtains you can draw as you wish throughout.

A fully operational kitchen is available for those who want to just stay home and cook/grill and enjoy the ocean breeze while sitting on the back deck! Sunsets are NOT to be missed! The space -
Kitchen is stocked with essentials (yes, there is a waffle maker), lovely marsh view off the kitchen. Dining table seats 6 inside and our outdoor table seats 6 outside. The sectional is super comfy and folds out into a queen bed if you need extra sleeping space. There is HDTV + Chromecast to stream your favorite entertainment. High-speed internet to make the streaming happen. The master bedroom includes a King bed and a bathroom with walk-in shower. Second bedroom includes a twin over full bunk bed and additional rollaway bed. Guest bathroom has a "kid-friendly" tub. All rooms have ceiling fans and shades in case you want to sleep-in.

We will provide linens and towels. We will have some beach towels but please bring your own as well just in case.

The outside spaces are lovely. There is a covered front deck where you can get out of the sun but still keep your eyes towards the beach. This comes with chairs and tables to relax. The back deck is off the kitchen area and has a bistro set to enjoy your coffee in the morning or your margaritas at sunset.

Downstairs there is a 2 car garage to store bikes, your car, and other beach essentials you bring. ((We will provide some beach toys, umbrella, and chairs)). The garage is also where you have access to a washer and dryer. The backyard and back patio has two hammocks, a table with 6 chairs and the Caribbean "hook" game. The back patio area is also covered. The yard is a great place to let the kids run around (soccer goals in the garage) or for you to set-up the corn hole boards. We hope you love it like we do.

Guest access -
The house comes with a two car garage and also allows for two additional cars parked in the driveway. You can get to the beach on foot in a 2 min walk. We are off Middleton so easy access to town, stores and shops.

Our home is a piling beach house with our main living upstairs. The enclosed bottom is a studio apartment/suite for you to enjoy. We are on the peaceful Davis Canal with a dock where you can spend time drinking coffee or cocktails, reading, fishing, kayaking, boating and enjoying sunrises/sunsets. Enjoy the beautiful, shared in ground pool and hot tub area. We are a quick, easy walk or bike ride to the beach.
The space:
It is a private studio apartment with a private entrance, a queen bed, private bathroom with tile shower and towel warmer, and a blue tooth fan for enjoying music. The living area has a comfortable, reclining couch. There is no kitchen, but there is a microwave, fridge, coffee pot with pods and coffee. Dishes, silverware, and wine glasses are provided. Enjoy the shared pool area with hot tub and the shared dock area. The grill is available for you to use. Bikes, chairs , kayaks and backpack cooler are by elevator for use.

Southport is just a short drive away for a day of shopping, dining, or a trip to Bald Head Island by ferry. If you are more adventurous, take the Fort Fisher ferry to Carolina Beach and have a drink at the tiki bar on the beach, or drive to Wilmington and explore the battleship and all the unique areas Wilmington has to offer.

The welcome information provides all you need to know about easy access public beach parking, places to eat and things to do. If you are interested in renting bikes, kayaks and other beach toys we can help you arrange for them to be delivered to the house. Please just ask.

The home has been stylishly decorated with maximum comfort in mind. Guests often comment on the cleanliness, comfortable beds and attention to detail. The house is only a 6 steps off the ground and all one level inside; perfect for guests with some mobility issues. There are three bedrooms that sleep six people total with king bed, a queen bed, and two twin beds. There is a master bathroom, a shared hall bathroom for the other two bedrooms. An outdoor shower is available to rinse off the salt and sand at the end of a day at the beach. Enjoy the backyard fire pit on a cool evening, or the piece de resistance, the screened porch with its table for six and a hanging bed. Take a nap or even spend the night on it. I promise the cool breeze of ocean air and the sounds of the island will lull you to a blissful sleep. The house comes with a fully stocked kitchen and plenty of other creature comforts to make you feel right at home. There is an outdoor grill for all you grill masters. There is high speed Wifi at the house and the TV has access to all the local channels as well as Hulu and Netflix. There is also access to Amazon Prime if you have an account. If you elect to disconnect, there are books and games available too.

All linens and bath towels are included, as is body wash, shampoo, conditioner, kitchen soap, and cleaning supplies. We will provide you with a couple rolls of paper towels and toilet paper and trash bags to get you started. We do not provide beach towels so please don't forget to bring them with you. Please also plan to bring whatever else you need for the beach with you (or I can tell you where to rent beach stuff).

The Bean is located 2 hours from Raleigh, 3 ½ hours from Charlotte and an easy 7 hour drive from the DMV metro area. There is no excuse not to visit this beautfiful island.

A few days before your arrival we will send the code for the door and all the check-in procedures. It is very easy. You arrive, let yourself in and your vacation has begun. No keys to worry about. We are available to answer any questions you may have, so don't hesitate to ask. We want you to love the house and the area as much as we do! If we are not on the island ourselves, we have a house manager that is just minutes away if necessary.

We ask for you to keep the number of guests to 6 or less, though we will permit an additional child under 2 years old.

While our guests have full run of the house, we ask that you please respect the locked closet and shed.

Busy Season (May – August): We require a 3 night minimum. Any bookings made outside these parameters will be cancelled unless pre-approved by us first.

Off Season (September – April): We require a 2 night minimum. Please contact us for discounts on any reservations longer than 7 days.

Active Military & First Responders: We offer a 10% discount for all active military members and first responders (LEO, ambulance medics and firefighters) with valid ID. Please contact us either before or after booking to adjust the nightly rate.

Check-in/Check-out: Check-in is anytime after 3pm. If arriving late at night, please be respectful of our neighbors. They all live there full-time and we want them to continue to like us. Check out is 10am. While we try to accommodate our guests as much as possible, check-in and check-out times during the busy season are strictly adhered to due to the short amount of time we have to prepare the house for the next guests.

Pets: This is a no pet rental. Please don't ask if we will make an exception for your little Boo Boo because he is the best behaved dog ever. He is still a dog and we don't accept them.

Travel Insurance: All guests are strongly encouraged to purchase travel insurance prior to their trip in case of emergency trip cancellation. This is especially crucial during hurricane season.

Deposit - If you are new Air B&B please rest easy that the security deposit is not processed unless there's a problem after you leave. This money is not taken out of your account in advance. You may exhale now.

I am a text or phone call away. I have a house manager very nearby if I am personally not on the island.

There is a nature center, public boat access, and public pier just a few home sites away. We walk to the beach for exercise in the morning but carrying a donkey load of beach things on your back can make for an angry jaunt. Your car may be better than your back for long days on the shore. No loud shenanigans after 10 pm or midnight games of tag please...our neighbors will call us if the rukus gets to rukusitable. Hashtag sad face if the po po show show.

While the house may be walking distance for some from the beach, restaurants and even a grocery store, a car is highly recommended to get around the island. The house has enough parking for three cars.

READ THE HOUSE MANUAL for "Things Not To Forget!" during the stay such as beach umbrellas, coolers for the beach, beach towels, sunscreen, food to eat, toiletries, etc. Check in and out procedure listed there also. You can do absolutely everything on this island or nothing at all. Our home is perfect for small families, girls or guys weekends, or couple getaways. It's just not for smoking, raucous parties or inconsiderate people. If you are prone to any of those please don't make a reservation.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: While growth and progress can be good, it can sometimes test our patience. This is one of those times. A house is being constructed next door. Because we cannot vouch for how often workers will be present or how long the house will take to complete, we have elected not to raise our rates for 2023 in consideration to our guests for the possibility of construction work next door during their stay.

- "The property was pleasant and the area was pretty quiet…just what we were hoping for. Enjoyed having access to the golf cart. That was a big plus for us and the location was in close proximity to other fun places such as Southport and Bald Head Island. The beach was close and so beautiful! It was also suitable for my dogs and made taking them with us on vacation a success. One negative thing was that when we arrived the previous renters had put the trash at the road with the can way overfilled and the lid open with the bags not tied. Trash was up and down the street, so I had to pick it up for the truck to come and empty the can the next day. Other than that, we were very pleased with the experience. Just a five minute walk to the beach and around the corner from pickle ball and tennis courts as well as splash pad. On Monday monings there is farmers market on the soccer field around the corner as well as Friday night free concerts when in season May thru September. Eateries within walking distance. Southport is a short distance away for extra things to do on a rainy day. We have spas in the neighborhood too for some extra pampering. Surf Fishing and crabbing just a short walk away. We also can accomadate a boat. Kayaking tours are also available and they are lots of fun. A ghost walk in Southport when the weather cools a bit is always a scarey treat. If you are a shopper we have lots to do in that area too,

- "This little apartment was upstairs in a building on the back of the main house property in a nice older neighborhood. We very much enjoyed the feel of the neighborhood. The place is super cute and was equipped by owners with multiple amenities (those that I usually pack and take myself!) It is very quiet; no noise or dog barking. Parking right in front. Owners very friendly and accommodating. For only 1-3 people; this is an ideal place. And it walks straight down to the beach. Pier is close as well as restaurants and shops. Restaurants do not take reservations; for Memorial weekend it was imperative to go early or go and get your name on the list and do something else while you wait. Food was very good at every place we tried."

Paradox Place is a self-contained 400 sq ft apartment with a nice den featuring a sleeper sofa, recliner, 60" HD TV with streaming channels, and a kitchenette with sink, microwave, refrigerator, air fryer, induction cooktop with saucepan, and complimentary coffee. While the small space is not suitable for extensive cooking, the microwave, induction cooktop and air fryer can be used for preparing small meals or snacks. An outdoor George Foreman electric grill is also available upon request.

The bedroom features a comfy queen bed with a TV and plenty of drawer space. A full bath with tub/shower, including hand-held shower head, is well appointed and welcoming. It is best suited for a couple. But kids are welcomed and can enjoy the memory-foam sofa sleeper.

The outside shower is great for rinsing off after a day at the beach. And bring your devices to enjoy with our 500Mb WiFi. Paradox Place is located in a quiet neighborhood overlooking the Intra-Coastal Waterway. The beach is a half-mile away. You can hear the waves from the property, but there is a marsh between Paradox Place and the sand, so it is a 4-5 minute drive to cross a bridge over the marsh to the beach.

You will enjoy a completely self-contained guest area. The apartment is at ground level with a separate entrance, while the hosts' home is on pilings above it.

Other things to note

Isn’t it high time that you enjoy a little Beach Treat? Gather the family and check in at this coastal-chic cottage located just three rows back from the ocean and in walking distance of Ocean Crest Fishing Pier.

The space
Settle in the living room to stream a favorite show together on the 55" smart TV as you reflect on the day’s adventures. T-mobile internet services keeps you connected even while you're away. The open concept living space flows into the eat-in kitchen, where four or more can sit around the center island and keep the family chef company as they prepare the catch of the day or fresh local produce - everything you need to cook meals for your crew is provided. The round kitchen table also seats four to five people, so there’s plenty of space for everyone. Rolling barn doors close off a spacious laundry closet with a full-sized washer and dryer.

On the east side of the home, the ocean-facing bedroom is furnished with a queen bed, and the full bathroom has a standard tub/shower combo and hall access. On the west side of the home, the second bathroom offers the same layout and is located between the remaining two bedrooms. The oceanfront room on this side also provides a queen bed, while the streetside bedroom has two twins. All bedrooms as well as the common areas offer ceiling fans for your comfort, and you’ll find hardwood floors throughout the home with the exception of tiled bathrooms.

Outside, the partially covered front porch offers glimpses of the Atlantic and furniture for dining or relaxing and wraps around one side of the home to a generous back deck where you can soak in the sunshine. Look out over the grassy backyard, where a small copse of trees shades an attractive seating area with a natural bench fashioned from a fallen trunk. Play corn hole together while the kids ride on the rope swing.

Under the home, a porch swing provides the perfect shady spot to sway and listen to the waves, while an enclosed outdoor shower makes rinsing off after visiting the beach quick and easy. Speaking of the beach, you’ll be on the sand in moments each day thanks to a beach access point roughly 400 feet from your front door. Centrally located on Oak Island, Beach Treat is convenient to local activities, shops and restaurants, as well as the bridge leading to picturesque Southport and its numerous shops and historic points of interest. So whether your idea of a vacation is to taking long naps in the island breeze, exploring local landmarks or teeing up for 18 holes at one of the area's playable but challenging golf courses, you will find your island home at Beach Treat!

About Oak Island's East Beach

Stretching from NE and SE 79th Streets to S Middleton Ave, the East Beach section of Oak Island is the island’s widest area with more parks and public facilities than any other island location. When you’re not playing on its pristine beaches, head to Middleton Park where you can join a game of basketball, kickball or tennis. During summer evenings, gather with the community on the soccer field to watch an open-air movie or concert. The soccer field also transforms into a Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market on select Mondays during the summer. Catch some air at the Kevin Bell Skate Park, start a leisurely float from the Tidalwaves Kayak and Canoe Launch, stroll along a nature trail, cast a line from the Ocean Crest Pier or grab a bite to eat at a local restaurant. Fun is around every corner.

The space
Well maintained and nicely decorated for your enjoyment, this home provides two TVs with basic cable, DVD player with CD player, wireless internet and free long calls distance to United States phone numbers help your group stay entertained and connected. Families will enjoy taking advantage of the two containers of family games and puzzles, as well as child friendly amenities like a high chair and pack and play. Hardwood floors and ceiling fans throughout add to the convenience of this home.

You’ll also find a well-equipped kitchen ready to host family meals. The stove, microwave, fridge and dishwasher were all newly purchased and installed in the beginning of 2023, along with a heavy-duty washer and dryer to handle all of your laundry needs. The property also has some handicap accessible features, including safety bars in showers and beside commodes.

The covered porch, screened porch with furniture and fenced-in backyard allow you to enjoy the ocean breezes in comfort and privacy. After your short walk back from the beach, wash feet and equipment free of sand at the cold foot wash just beyond the garden gate. This foot wash is conveniently supplied by an on-site well and includes hoses that will reach the driveway for rinsing vehicles of salt and sand before heading home. There is also an enclosed outdoor shower with hot and cold water to make cleaning up after a salt water dip a breeze.

Nightly rentals are available in the off season with a four-night minimum. This home is also available for off-season monthly rentals.

Sunkissed 2 is a comfortable beach home with an owner who has added beach charm. Sitting on a corner lot with a screened in porch you can hear and feel the breeze from the ocean.

The space
Stroll out the home and straight down 5th Place West to the public beach access and get that Sunkissed look. Guests staying at this home are just over a block from the beach and even less than that to the marsh side of the island.

Inside you'll find a well equipped kitchen with dining seating for eight plus five at the bar. There are hardwood floors and ceiling fans throughout. In addition there are Two TVs, wireless internet access, a DVD player, VCR, CD player and phone. There's even board games and puzzles.

Back outside you'll find a shower with hot and cold water, screened porch, deck with ocean views and rockers.

This is a private bedroom in my home, walk to the beach, 4 short blocks. No chores or checkout list. Quiet, private room, bath and sitting room.

Home is on pilings, you must climb stairs. Fully stocked outdoor shower also available (seasonal).

Limited kitchen access. No cooking. Primary living area is not shared, guests have a private sitting room and TV beside their room.

External security cameras carport/patio.

Booking party must be present for reservation, no third party bookings.

The space
This is an ideal listing for single, female travelers. No self-checkin, very short meet and greet. If you stay more than 1 night, you will get a code for the door. You can come and go as you wish. I will always be available by phone if you have questions.

Dogs live here however I do not accept guests traveling with pets. Pet exemption issued by ABNB. Non-negotiable.

Roku TV with Prime/Paramount/Showtime and Max. I do not have cable or network TV. There is continuous WIFI streaming for your devices.

Your bathroom will be stocked with towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Also included is a hair dryer.

You will always be the only guest in my main home. However, there is a separate, entirely detached Airbnb studio apartment on the ground level. Your space will always be private, including your bath and den, and it has no shared walls with me or the downstairs space.

Beach towels and chairs are available. No snorkeling gear or umbrella.

Guest access
You must confirm that you have read and agree to the house rules.

Guest has a private bedroom, bathroom and sitting area with TVs in both. My living room is not shared with guests. There are also multiple outdoor sitting and dining areas including a screened in porch. The backyard will not resemble pictures in the winter. These are all available to guests but are shared with other Airbnb guests in separate ADU downstairs when booked.

Kitchen use is very limited. You may store a few items in the refrigerator. You may not bring your own appliances such as air fryers or instant pots. You may use the microwave to reheat but I do not allow stove use or meal prep. The center island and dining area are available for you to eat if you order take out. The kitchen area is not to be used as a work station.

Coolers/food not allowed in the guest rooms.

Check-in is between 3:00-9:00 PM. Check-out is 11:00 AM. You may request earlier/later times but it is dependent on upcoming bookings I may have.

I do ask that you observe quiet time after 11:00 pm as this is a residential neighborhood.

During your stay
If you have not downloaded the Airbnb app, please do so as that is how I will communicate with you before and during your stay. I am always available to answer questions for you.

Other things to note
Rates vary depending on the time of the year. They may change daily during peak season. Once you book, your rate is locked in.

Absolutely zero cleaning required from guests. No bed to strip, no laundry to load. Just enjoy your stay.

You must be at least 21 to book. ID may be requested.

Cigarette smoking is absolutely prohibited anywhere on property. If you are a smoker, please do not request a booking.

Do not open bedroom windows due to pollen, humidity and bugs. There are no screens on them.

I am on a corner lot with ample free parking at my house, but parking is not covered or shaded.

This property is not safe or suitable for children due to the dogs and the stairs. Pet exemption on file with Airbnb. Bringing an undisclosed pet will result in your reservation being cancelled with no refund.

This listing has a 1 person max. Air mattresses cannot be setup here.

Please be sure you have read and understand the cancellation policy in place. Also remember this is a barrier island and hurricane season runs through November. Travel insurance is advised.

I will not consider discounts, long term rentals or guests traveling with pets under any circumstances. I do have a second stand alone unit, the Black Pearl, where I will consider pets on an individual basis.
