- "Well, the house is nice inside, plenty of space. Clean. But there are some things that were a little....well, there's a "shed" chicken coop looking building in the back that's full of garbage. There are pictures of it in the pics and it's not how it looks in the pocs- its just a place where trash was thrown and there's trash stacked on top of the sinks etc so you can't use any of that area. There is no gas grill, just a rusty charcoal one among the junk at the building. It says private walk to the beach- not true. You are about a one mile walk from the beach across busy roads, mostly without sidewalks. Not a Walk that I wanted to make with 2 adults 2 kids and a dog. It says on site snorkeling and hunting in the description. Unless you're driveway snorkeling I don't see how that's possible. And the pics of a swing next to what looks like a lake- no idea where that came from. Never saw it. So yes the house itself is nice but the location is very misleading on many different levels. The beach is nowhere to be seen without a drive to it. And the fenced in backyard is very small and the junky building inside it full of trash with rusty items etc should've been cleaned up long ago. Nestled in the quiet woods on Oak Island and within street view of the Intracoastal Waterway, Snapper Cottage offers a spacious layout to make your visit as easy, comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
Relax on the platform deck under the Oak tree draped in Spanish Moss, or take an afternoon nap on the screened-in back porch. At night, when it's quiet on the island, you can hear the ocean waves in the distance and see millions of stars in the darkness.
The living room, dining area and kitchen have an open floor plan. We have a large Smart TV with a DVD player, which allows streaming. Just bring your passcodes! We also have with several family friendly movies in our DVD library. If you need to work, there's also a small desk for your use.
The kitchen is fully equipped to prepare, cook and serve meals. Included in the kitchen: Refrigerator, glass top cooking stove and oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, food processor, and blender. We have stainless steel pots and pans, pyrex baking and serving dishes, serving utensils, knives and cutting boards, a knife sharpener, whisks, spatulas, stirring spoons, spatulas, a colander, salad spinner, corkscrew and a bottle cap opener. There are plenty of plates, bowls, cups, glasses, wine glasses, and silverware.
There are two bedrooms, both with memory foam mattresses. We provide sheets, pillows, and quilts. The two beds in the bedrooms will be made up when you get here. Both bedrooms have king sized beds.
The sleeper sofa in the living room opens up to a queen size bed, and the cot is twin sized. Sheets, blankets and extra pillows for the sofa bed and twin cot are stored in the Captain's bedroom closet.
Both bathrooms are full baths, with a shower and a tub. There is a HE washing machine and dryer in the closet in the hallway. We also provide a set of bath towels and a beach towel for each guest. There are also extra towels in the hall closet for your dog.
Your dogs will love our fenced in backyard, and you'll love the ease of letting them out. We kindly ask that you to clean up your dog's solid waste, along with a $50 pet fee for each dog.
We strive to keep the cottage clean and fresh for everyone who visits-including for our guests without dogs.
We provide a small supply of paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, and laundry detergent for your stay. We also offer a high chair, booster seat, and step stool for the little ones, along with plenty of games and books.
We are located less than a quarter mile from the 14th St NE Veteran's Park on Yacht Drive, which is a great place to have a picnic or to go fishing. There is a small gazebo where you and several others can get out of the sun and relax on the benches. From spring to fall you'll love watching the ships, sailboats, and fishing boats go by. If you're lucky you might spot the occasional dolphin swimming, or possibly one of the smaller cruise ships.
Of course, there's the beach. It's a 0.9 mile walk through the nature trail to reach the closest beach access on foot, or a 1.4 mile drive to the closest beach access by car.
Don't overlook going through the nature trail over the marshes and Davis Canal. It may be your favorite walk ever! This area has one of the most scenic nature spots on the island, and you can only see it on foot or by small boat. Davis Canal is a fantastic place for watching sunrises and sunsets, along with spotting birds such as pelicans, hawks, cranes and great blue Herons. The water bridge trail cuts straight through and over the marshes of the brackish Davis Canal, between two rows of beach houses and ending at the 9th Place beach access.

It is a quick walk to the main stretch for restaurants/shopping. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The beach is easily accessible and is a walkable distance. The road you have to cross is quite busy and there are no crosswalks so keep that in mind. The teens gave their seal of approval on the house and both my husband and I enjoyed our stay immensely. Our island cottage is perfectly placed under a canopy of magnificent live oaks, just steps away from the ocean. Nestled on a quiet beach access street, central to all the best attractions, shopping and eateries on Oak Island; close to nearby Southport. Public sidewalks along E Oak Island Drive make it easy to walk or bike to your favorite spots.

Our classic cottage has been recently renovated and cheerfully decorated. With 1212 square feet and an open floor plan, there is plenty of space for you to comfortably relax. There are two living/entertaining areas in the home, both centrally connected through the galley kitchen. Two bedrooms provide enough sleeping arrangements for 4 guests. The master bedroom offers a queen bed, television and private en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom offers two twin beds (one is a trundle with an extra memory foam topper). Two full bathrooms with walk-in showers. Linens are provided (sheets, towels/washcloths) along with shampoo and soap. A full-size washer and dryer is available just off the master bedroom.

If you decide to cook in during your stay, the kitchen has all the essentials you’ll need - refrigerator, oven, microwave dishwasher, pots/pans, utensils, coffee pot, dishes. A roll of paper towels will be provided, along with dish soap and detergent.

Cable TV, wi-fi, bluetooth speaker along with some games, books and puzzles are available for your enjoyment.

The spacious fully-fenced backyard with hammock and outdoor seating offers the perfect place to relax while children and pets safely play. For the most amazing location, there’s a restaurant right at our pier called Koco Kabana. It’s Oceanview and very good food. For Thai food we recommend Thai By The Sea-take out only. It’s just a few blocks away from the house. For great Italian food we recommend several restaurants but probably Joseph’s the most. It’s on the intercoastal right by the boat docks. For a great clean grass fed steak we recommend Traquil Harbor-they delivered our dinner to our door yesterday and it was absolutely delicious. It’s across the street from the Food Lion and not fancy but great vegetables and food. Duffers is at the Oak Island Country Club, is delicious and only 2 minutes away. We would also highly recommend you going to Southport for several amazing restaurants there that are very “hole in the wall” but totally classic. That would include Fishy Fishy, Provisions, Mr. P. and Oliver’s. This is for the local seafood. And, plan on walking around the older parts of Southport because it is really charming. Many older homes have survived all the hurricanes for some amazing reason. And it’s romantic.

The beach is wide open and perfect for all ages - great for morning walks with the dog, playing in the surf and sunbathing late into the afternoon. Fishing was easy from the beach and the pier, and loved the outdoor shower! Sitting on the porch for dinner at nearby restaurant Koko Cabana was so good, we went back twice - and we also loved going to Provisions in Southport for excellent seafood by the water. The Friday night free concert i. town was also a lot of fun, and don't miss sunset on the west tip of the island - gorgeous. We also rented a pontoon boat on the intracoastal which made for a great day trip. Beatrice was so helpful with recommendations - our only regret was we missed the turtles hatching - but we will be back!"

Adorable Beach Cottage, 2 bedrooms, 2 bath (Sleepsa 6). Beachy Keen OKI is a charming, dog friendly beach cottage centrally located on a quiet, wooded street with 6-foot fully fenced backyard! The cottage is nicely decorated and recently renovated with LPV flooring. It is perfect for small families, a couple's getaway and spending time with your furry friends. The cottage is a 6-minute walk to the beach for shelling, sunning and sunsets and to the Intracoastal waterway (ICW) for kayaking, SUP, crabbing and fishing! The Island's shops, restaurants, grocery and other amenities are also within a short walking distance.

The shaded fenced backyard is perfect for a game of cornhole or letting the kids or dogs run around. An outdoor shower and a separate foot shower are perfect for rinsing off the sand after a long day at the beach! A fully equipped kitchen, a gas and charcoal grill are perfect for meals at home. In the evening, relax in the wooden swing, the cozy rocking chairs on the front porch or under the string lights on the deck and feel the ocean breeze.
Linens and towels are included. Professionally cleaned prior to arrival and upon departure. Beach towels, beach wagon, beach umbrella, games and boogie boards provided. The cottage has a variety of indoor and outdoor games perfect for all ages, including cornhole. Baby gate and dog crates provided.

High chair, booster seat, pack and play and baby bath are included upon request.

Furry Facts:
-Maximum No. of Pets-2 dog maximum unless additional dogs are approved by owner
-Non-Refundable Pet-Deposit for two dogs is $100.00.
-All dogs must be housebroken and up to date on shots and crated in house when left unattended subject to certain exceptions arranged with owner
-Oak Island is a dog friendly beach. Leashed dogs are permitted year-round on the island beaches and allowed off leash from Oct. 15-March 15.
-There are two dog parks on the island, one only two blocks away from the cottage.
-Food /water bowls are provided along with extra leashes and collars.
-Crates and baby gate provided. Two medium crates are in the cottage. A large crate is available upon request.
- Dog blankets for furniture provided
-Other animals besides dogs are not permitted.
-If pet fee is not paid at booking, the pet will be charged after the booking and must be paid before check-in.
-Pets must be pre-approved by owner and service animals disclosed at time of booking
--We request that pets be kept off the furniture in living room or use dog blankets provided
-Must comply with all local leash laws

- "We just had an amazing stay at Beachy Keen and can't recommend it more. Everything is provided for; it's clear that a lot of thought went into what a vacationer might need. Everything from pots and pans, 2 different types of coffee makers, beach towels, beach chairs, beach cart are all available for use. For rainy days or if you just need a break from the beach there are board games, puzzles, and books all thoughtfully provided. Let me just end by sharing what my 18-year old teenage son said after the first day at the cottage and Oak Island, "This is what Paradise must be like!"
