Welcome to our quaint little cottage nestled in the heart of old Summerville. The cottage is a little over a century old.; and, actually pre-dates the main house. We tried hard to strike a balance between updating the property and preserving its authentic historic charm. The cottage enjoys the shade of beautiful, majestic oak trees whose limbs almost touch the ground. Guests are allowed to tour the gardens next to the main house, built by the Prettyman family when Summerville was a sleepy little town.
The cottage has 2 bedrooms, one with a king-bed, the other with a full bed that accommodates 4 comfortably . Brand-new range, microwave, refrigerator, and washer/dryer . Also, new 4K HD TV's in living area and master bedroom. Kitchen is fully-stocked with coffee-maker ,toaster, blender , cookware, and utensils for those that like to fix their own meals. However, with so many stellar restaurants in the area, dining out is often the best option.

- "Perfect for us and our two kiddos. Location was perfect for where we needed to be and wanted to go. Property was clean, decorated and furnished nicely. Very quiet. Nice to have access to the garden and whatnot. (Tip for families with little littles - I wouldn’t say the inside is toddler friendly - too many tempting and breakable items. Luckily, My kiddos are older.) Our only negative was internet was a little slower than what we needed/expected as husband had to work remotely while there but it wasn’t a deal breaker; he simply used his hotspot and was perfectly fine and set up his stuff in the dining room. George (lives in main house) made sure we had paper each day and is sweet and friendly. Allison (owner/VRBO) is fantastic - prompt to reply to any questions and extremely helpful. The meticulously restored Cottage is a former servants' quarters for this property which has one of the oldest homes in Summerville dating from ca. 1812. The main house and the Cottage have been the focus of over 40 years attention to proper restoration by many fine craftsmen from the historic preservation community of Charleston and the Low Country. The Cottage measures approximately 800 sq' and is approached by its own private paved drive with private parking. Outside the Cottage is a large brick patio surrounded by boxwood, azaleas and camellias and a pleasing water feature. Many magnolia trees and live oaks surround the Cottage which is about 150' behind the main house. The Cottage is completely self-contained with a full kitchen, bath/shower, living room with fireplace as well as a large bedroom with Queen 4 poster bed and sitting area. The living room and bedroom both have high cathedral ceilings. The roof of the Cottage is standing seam tin and makes for magnificent sleep during a rain storm. Guests have been telling us for many years that nothing has been overlooked in the decor or amenities for the Cottage. The kitchen is fully equipped with new stainless appliances and a granite counter top. There is a range, refrigerator/freezer with ice maker, disposal, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, Keurig coffee maker, pots, pans, dishes and utensils. The bath has a tiled tub/shower and pedestal sink. Wide board heart pine floors are throughout. Linens are provided and a washer/dryer is available for guest use at the Cottage.

- "Our family had a short but pleasant stay with Allison and Ron. The grounds are beautiful and the cottage was updated and clean. Plenty of options for food a short drive away. Would stay again if we are back in the area." - "We enjoyed our stay at the Hearts of Arden - Casino. This was a quaint and cozy cottage and easily accommodated our party of 3 adults. The beds were super comfy. The estate grounds are spectacular set in a quiet neighborhood and within a leisurely walk to historic Summerville. The kitchenette was stocked with coffee pods and the fridge had courtesy bottled water. Use of the full-size clothes washer & dryer was a plus. Host Allison & Ron were excellent hosts welcoming us to enjoy Happy Hour on Friday evening with them and other cottage guests. We were able to use their outdoor grill top to cook up our breakfast. Their pool was also available for our use. We would definitely return for another visit. Thank you, Allison & Ron for making our stay comfortable and relaxing."

- "We had a great stay at the Tea Cup Cottage. It shares the property with the owner’s house, but the cottage is completely detached and very private. The cottage is newly built, very well appointed and clean, and very comfortable. Easy walk to downtown and everything historic Summerville has to offer, but also a full kitchen with the necessities to cook in should you choose to. The Flowertown Cottage Downstairs offers private entrance to a 1,200 sq. ft. of living space with a garden view, perfect for an extended stay. There are 2 king size bedrooms and 1.5 baths.

The full bathroom features a walk-in tile shower and a luxurious claw foot tub.

The space also offers a private living room, dining area, kitchen and laundry with washer and dryer.

The cottage is located in historic downtown Summerville, SC within walking distance of beautiful parks, shopping and dining.

- "Loved the cottage and the location. Host is awesome." - "We arrived in December and the cottage was decorated beautifully for Christmas, including a Christmas tree in the living room! We spent every morning on the large front porch drinking our coffee and in the afternoon enjoying a happy hour drink. The cottage is located behind the main house Bed and Breakfast and has every amenity that you can imagine. The location is quiet, yet you are close enough to walk to town where there are many restaurants and quaint shops. There is a large grocery store 1 mile away and a 14 mile walking/bike path within walking distance. Carol & Jerry are great hosts and were very thoughtful about our stay. We enjoyed staying there so much that we will have already booked a 2 month stay at the end of the year!"

This is an entire unit to yourself that includes 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, and twin bunk beds in the hallway to the bedroom. The unit has a living room with a fireplace, kitchen with oven, dishwasher, and microwave, and laundry room, all private.
The pool is heated and is available to guests Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm. It may be available Saturday if approved upon request in writing - just ask! Parking is to the far left on the side of the cottage.
Of note:
- Pool Heat can be added for an additional $100 /per day but must be requested at least 48 hours in advance.
- Please note that if the outdoor temperature drops below 50°F, the pool heater may have difficulty maintaining warmer water temperatures.
